Exactly.

somboons is working on to implement the Honor 8 in his tool SrkTool Huawei. He needs backup of oeminfo.bin and custom.bin of the Honor 8.
Sent from my HUAWEI VIE-L29 using XDA Labs

Has anyone with the L04 been able to backup stock system image with twrp? Preferably before rooting. Or if you've already rooted your phone, can someone pull their system image and share it? Steps 1 and 2 on this page: http://xda-university.com/as-a-developer/porting-clockworkmod-recovery-to-a-new-device

It's not for FRD-L04. It's extracted from FRD-L09. However recoveries are highly compatible between different versions, regions and models of the same device (provided they have same SoC which is true in this case).

is it possible to back-up [and then restore] the stock ROM (of honor8) with this custom recovery (twrp) or not?

I just now attempted a system backup via TWRP (Using twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img), and it seems to have worked. I have not tested it yet, or tried to restore it via TWRP but hopefully it works if I end up screwing up my phone lol

If you have L04, would you mind sharing the system image files? It will be great help in getting development started for the device!

Thank you! This is a dump from the L04, US version?

I just rooted my L09 and installed TWRP and it works fine, i made a copy of my oeminfo and cust and sent it to somboons. He will implement it in his tool SrkTool Huawei so we can use his tool to flash TWRP and root, and if it is possible to crossflash China version to EU version.

It's L09 but it doesn't matter if you're developing a real custom ROM (i.e. not an EMUI mock off which have become surprisingly too popular in Huawei forums)

Thanks!

I can confirm that this recovery work i restore boot.img and system partition on frd-L04

No, as you need TWRP recovery in place in order to flash this. If you want to restore to a completely stock phone, Huawei phones have a nice built in feature called e-Recovery. You can get into this mode through holding Volume Up when booting. (I believe the phone needs to be plugged into a computer at the time as well.) eRecovery will download the latest images direct from Huawei and flash the phone automatically. I've used it a few times to recover a device I've completely screwed up.
All that being said, I don't think Huawei has posted the images on their server yet. So if you use it, it might fail right now. But keep trying it and eventually they should post the files.

NOTES:
- Installation must be made by TWRP using an unlocked bootloader (dload method doesn't work)
- Additional update that contains missing apps from the beta build. Also contains build number corrected. Have to be flashed just after the rom update.zip (without rebooting between flashes): https://yadi.sk/d/PzGiKXn6yYS2b (thanks to sand_phoenix and kep2008)
- It is possible to rollback to stock EMUI 4.1.1 / Android 6 without any problems using the offical rollback package from Huawei.
INSTALLATION:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Install TWRP Recovery
3) Flash UPDATE.ZIP (the first flash containing L19C432B322: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G753/g104/v66016/f1/full/update.zip)
4) Flash additional UPDATE.ZIP (from: https://yadi.sk/d/PzGiKXn6yYS2b)
5) Reboot System from TWRP and Enjoy Nougat on your P19 Dual-SIM
Steps 3 and 4 must be done while in TWRP (flash one after the other). You can't reboot after first flash because you will not have TWRP installed after rebooting.
USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BROKEN RELATED TO IT

Is this because the data partition is is f2fs format? Is it save to change it to ext4.

TWRP issue

So I rebranded to bln-l22, installed Oreo and everything's good, but today I wanted to flash something but I discovered that for some reason I can't mount the /data and so I checked my file system and it was f2fs which is fine, so is there a fix for that ?
That's not an error man, it's because we don't have a fully working TWRP on Oreo yet. Actually there is only the TWRP that i assume you're using, the elemental rom TWRP by KingOfMezi.
At the moment, you have to flash supported files through fastboot. On an Oreo ROM/GSI, the architecture of our phone won't change, so the situation about TWRP is the same, but if I'm not wrong, at least GSIs can be rooted easily.

Shashank you know more about this stuff than I do. Is the above guide safe because I don't want to put this out there if it puts peoples personal data at risk. I believe you can still encrypt the data but this stops it from being forced encrypted while installing the ROM? Not sure. Would like your feedback if possible. Thanks.
