Best film screen protector - Note 7 Accessories

Well i may end up going with film for now due to the issues everyone with the S7 Edge has had with glass. I love glas dont get me wrong but im going to waste money trying them out.
Sucks that Gorilla glass 5 scratches easy.
What do you guys recommend or are using. Wet or dry. I have never liked the wet kind but that may be the best option for now.

This one is working rather well for me. It's a dry installation but it's not static cling. The material is kinda odd. Feels like a hybrid between static cling and the wet application ones. It's the best out now for the Note7 until a great static cling comes out. The only reason I wouldn't rate it very highly is because you can indent it with the included squeegee if you're not careful and if something gets stuck between it and your screen, you can't remove whatever it is. I used both films but second time was good enough.

Thank you, that looks like a good option.

You'll see SPen indentations with the Spigen Flex protector...looks terrible with the screen off.

this is the combination of screen protector and case that i have:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J7MPEGG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
here are some pics of them on my phone. as you see in the pics you cant tell that i have the screen protector on. it's that good. and it curves and sticks easy around the edge. i got a couple other screen protectors but they didnt play well will the cases i have. only the film ones work. and this one is not sticky, your fingers glides across it almost like glass. i have 2 glass ones and while they line up with holes and size, they dont fit with a case. the case pushes the corners of them up. the plesson case is pretty nice. it has cut outs of good size and the case hugs the phone good. it even has a little bit of a cut out on the side where the edge screen is so that you can interact with the edge screen much easier. the other cases i have go up a little too far on the edge screen imo.

I got the Zagg HD.....it sucks compared to glass. I remember these from before and how I disliked them.

Looks promising

I bought the icarez 2 pack. It was a b!tc4 to align put on. It literally took me over 30 minutes overall. There is still some small lint under but I did this at work on my desk. One side wouldn't stick and neither do the 4 corners so I used a heat gun to mold it into shape. I have to be careful when I put my case on as it will lift off if it pushes on it. So I have to start on 1 side (shown in 1 of the pictures) first then on the other side, pull the corners over the protectors so it doesn't push on them. Luckily my case is thin so I can stretch it out a bit.
The icarez covers a good portion of the sides so my case sits on top of the protector. Also you can see stylus marking on the protector. Visible when screen is off and viewing for an angle. But it's super clear and does not affect the clarity of the screen.
Sorry, I don't know if I put them in order but hopefully you can tell which has the case and which doesn't.

No full coverage screen protectors

While the curving of the glass at the ends make is easier for swiping gestures, it practically makes it impossible for manufacturers to make edge to edge screen protectors for the device :crying: It was the same case with the i9300. Most of them would start lifting at the edges or have dust and other crap stuck underneath. And smaller screen protectors ruin the look of the plain black glass with their edges.
So don't use one....

Easier said than done. This has been repeated like a million times before, gorilla glass WILL scratch. Might be more resistant, but it will. Also don't forget, say someone works in a dusty environment (construction) or maybe even a trip to the beach. A very good chance that the screen is going to be scratched. One could however argue that its a phone, supposed to be used and get scratched.
I am just pointing out one of the shortcomings of a screen that curves at the edges. Its not like I am getting people to sign a 'petition' for a flat glass

I think its safe to say it won't be as popular as the GS3. Even though all the major manufacturers were producing protectors for it, I still couldn't get my hands on a good edge to edge one.
Using my gnexus daily for pretty much exactly one year now. Never used a screen protector and/or case. Always in my pocket. Can't find any scratches.
Never understood how people got scratches on that thing and every screenprotector is visible and makes the phone look cheap. Better get a proper pouch or flip case for the phone, looks tons better and still prevents those ominous scratches everyone is scared of ;P

+1 on this. I just think that dry-apply screen protectors aren't as grippy as wet-apply.
Haven't used wet application types for some time, but don't they scratch if you put pressure on them, like fluid under the screen protector? Not to mention the sticky feeling one gets with the wet types.

Ooooooh, that doesn't sound too well. But I'm thinking about purchasing a Mofi pouch for this phone, it's too sexy for a case. But I'll see what ends up happening. Maybe they'll make a tempered glass screen protector?

It was a dry apply and it was very very sticky, not like those static cling ones. Once any part adheres to the screen, it's impossible to readjust without making things messy.

Well if they made a tempered glass screen protector for the Galaxy Nexus, I'm pretty sure they'll make one for the Nexus 4.
You will either have to get the glass overlay type or a wet protector like xoskins http://xoskins.com/cell-phone-skin-...protectors/google-nexus-4-full-body-protector if you want all of the glass covered. I shared a 40% off coupon a few days ago but that's expired now. The code sprintxo may still work. They were the best ones on my nexus that actually fit and covered all the glass.
There is a standard one and something else called as 'case fit' on the xoskins website. Does the latter mean its not edge to edge so that you can use cases with it?

Anyone have Spigen Dual Protector and N4 Bumper?

Does anyone have the Spigen dual side screen protector with the play store Nexus 4 Bumper?
If you do- How does it fit and would you recommend it because I'm looking at possibly getting this combo.
I could save $15 and get a poetic bumper for $5 instead of the $20 play store one. The only thing is I prefer the look of the play store one.
I can also get the play store one for much cheaper later on.
I was also thinking of getting the Poetic Atmosphere because it looks so nice on the iPhone 5 an the Spigen (just front) screen protector.
But maybe I'll just get them both and decide for myself.
I have the spigen dual ordered. Should be here next week. I have the bumper already but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or not. I'm not liking how it makes the phone feel. The bumper is not as slim as I thought.
I have this exact combo - simply perfect.

I have the combo as well and I wouldn't necessarily call it perfect, though I like the combo. I think the front protector doesn't cover enough of the sides, so there is a gap between the bumper and the protector... You can feel it when swiping from the edges (ex: when switching between tabs in Chrome).
I think a better case / protector combo is the Spigen with Diztronic... The case covers enough of the sides so there is barely a gap on the sides.
Anyways, since I prefer the bumper, I'll wait for the Phantom tempered glass protector and hope that the fit will be nicer.
I'll try to post a few pics tomorrow.

I have the same combo and like others have mentioned I don't like that the front protector does not go edge to edge on the screen, but it was expected. I don't like wet application ones so I'll just suck it up.

Spigen released some dry application ones for the Galaxy S3 that covered the whole screen (which has curved edges) so we just have to wait!
Spigen has made curved glass protectors before (for the gs3) but the reviews for that particular protector are terrible.
The hardness is half that of the current N4 one they have.
Can somebody please post a picture of the combo.
And has anybody dropped their phone? Any stories about the combo?

While the novelty of the Spigen Curved Crystal protectors is nice, they are incredibly easy to scratch it seems. I have a coworker that got the Curved Crystal protectors for her GS3, and she was disappointed at how easily they got visible hairline scratches. The first one she was rough with, but the 2nd one she took care to keep covered with the official GS3 book-like case that has a front flap, and it somehow still managed to get scratched.
I really think that if you want to cover the whole glass on the Nexus 4, you pretty much have to go with a wet apply. I'm almost a mandatory dry apply person, but I must say, it really makes it look as if you cheaped out on the screen protector to anybody else that looks at your phone. The bumper only accentuates this visual problem. Personally I'm cursing LG and Google for even doing this to the screen, it seems utterly gimmicky, pointless, and makes it absolute hell to get a good smooth dry apply screen protector on the phone. I find myself actually avoiding using the sloped edge because I run right into the edge of my dry screen protector. I usually start my swipes right at the edge of the screen protector.

What is the difference between dry and wet application in terms of the screen's curve.
Correct me if I'm wrong but what I take you're saying is that wet application screen protectors will cover the entire (curved)N4 screen as dry ones won't (or if they do they won't be too good)

I don't actually have a wet apply protector myself, but I ordered a Best Skin's Ever full body set that should be delivered sometime next week, along with a Spigen Dual set. From reading up on them though, it seems like all of the wet apply ones do actually cover the entire glass, which would make sense as they're totally floppy and flexible during the installation phase. The tough part, even with those, seems to be getting them to cure and stick permanently to the curved glass.
I think I'll give the BSE a try and see how it goes before the Spigen, based on some people's comments that the BSE seems smoother than other brands of wet applies. I typically really hate the rubbery drag that the wet applies have.

List of screen protectors that go edge to edge?

So yeah just got my N4 today and was slightly disappointed when I realized that my N4 screen protector from BSE did not cover the entire screen. Im using the official bumper and would like a list of screen protectors that come right up to the bumper if anyone knows of one, thank you.
A lot of them will not because of the curved edges of the nexus 4, which will cause the protector to bubble up fast and start getting loose... 2c
Oh...do you know of any that go to the edge of the bumper or that come close?
The Skinomi I put on last night goes almost edge to edge. Any case will cover the rest of the gap. On the sides, it's probably 1 mm on each side. I don't know if you already know this trick, but to get the sides to stick down you have to wait a few minutes for the skin that is going to touch the screen to dry up a bit. It needs to become sticky in order to stay down. I wait another minute or two and keep trying to keep the edges down. Eventually the skin stays down on the curved edges. I lined up the top perfectly, and the bottom is a little over 1 mm from completely covering the front. The back is even a better fit, less than 1 mm missing from all four edges. Really great coverage. Now the sides, eh, it's a ***** to get the curved corners. I just ordered the stock bumper and will use that to protect the edges before they get more dinged.
That just my 2 cents. oh, btw, the Skinomi was very very little orange-peel look, and it's almost like a mirror. The best skin I've ever used so far (Xtreme Skin, Skinomi, and Zagg).

I got mine today and the front protector stops a little short of the curved edges. I also lined it up very close at the top which I would advise giving it a little room because mine didn't reach all the way down to the bottom. The back one fit really well and was a little difficult to line up because of how well it fits. Overall I like their protectors but they are a bit pricy for a single set but the quality is great.

Yeah they are a bit pricey. I bought mine off their ebay store , no tax or shipping. $13.99
I've read on their site that the front is cut a bit smaller due to the edge design of the n4 so it prevents from peeling or something.
I think another positive to that, is if you use a case... Because the screen protector is a bit short the case will not lift it because it doesn't touch it.

I recommend Xtremeguard. Goes edge to edge completely with a tiny 1mm gap at the top, has no orange peel effect if applied properly and left to dry and their customer service is amazing.

The Spigen on the other hand is cut short. It isn't just cut short horizontally (which I understand) but also cut short vertically as well. As stated above, a typical case (I have the Diztronic) covers around 1mm around the side. The SGP is cut short on the bottom by 1.5mm and 1mm on top. So while it's flush on the top, it's not flush on the bottom. You could minimize this by making it 1.2mm on both sides, but that's just too much work.
SGP Case: https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157632671632748/
Skinomi Case: https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157632205914659/
On the propped up picture of the Skinomi, you can see that it's pretty much flush with the end.
--
My experience reminds me how much I hate screen protectors and bare glass is always better... until it gets scratched.
Why did I spend $20+ on pieces of plastic :crying:
A had problems with the skinomi type screen protectors because of the curved edges. They would collect dust right at the edge and never stick. My trick is to apply all of the pieces, and then wrap the phone tightly in plastic wrap. Make sure to use a paper towel to blot the access moisture. After about an hour or two, the edges were down for good.and I could let it dry normally.
Overkill? Maybe, but it's worked well for me each time I had to install skinomi on a curved surface

Installing it is annoying though. The screen is very slippery so the protector will slide around alot when you're trying to like it up. Be sure to do it in the bathroom after a shower, so all the dust has settled and you're naked. Being naked is key to a perfect installation. Weird but true.

Being naked is not weird at all. I do that as well when I apply my screen protectors. Clothes most often carry a lot of dust, even clean clothes. So wearing them and with movement you can release a lot of dust back into the air. Although my girlfriend laughs at me every time I "hide" in the toilet for 20 mins performing the "perfect install".

If you would be willing to fork over a pretty penny, there are the tempered glass screen protectors by Clarivue and XGear. I think Clarivue is out already, but the XGear is still in production.
I'm pretty sure they would cover the whole screen.

Zagg shield secret!
I just got my official Nexus 4 bumper a few days ago, and I've had my Skinomi on for the past week. There is no way the bumper is going to peel it off. The bumper stays on my gripping the 4 corners and the top and bottom metal frame edge. There is almost no grip on the sides, but not that it matters, because the bumper is NOT coming off. I wish the Skinomi, or any skin for that matter, can reach the absolute edge.

Note 3 Display Protection

Hi there guys. Those who are curious like me to know about the screen of note 3 has gorilla glass 3 protection or not, here is the answer.
I emailed samsung customer service and they replied me back and told me it got gorilla glass 3 protection..
Does this mean I can finally get rid of the annoying screen protector and use the phone as it's mean to be used?
Sent from my SM-N900 using xda app-developers app
No. Gorilla Glass 3 is the same as Gorilla Glass 2 except it's thinner. It's only scratch resistant, not scratch proof. Sand can easily scratch glass. You may not think your around any if you're not near a beach, but sand is every where. All it takes is a few grains to end up if you're pocket or a table you set your phone on to scratch it's pretty face. If you like living on the edge go for it, but I'll continue to use a screen protector.
Maybe someday we'll come up with inexpensive and tough Sapphire screens. That's when you won't have to worry about scratches. Since the only thing harder than sapphire are diamonds.

I've never used a screen protector, on any smartphone, and have never had a scratch on the screens regardless.
What bloody idiot puts his phone face down on a table? Does that not defeat the whole point of having a screen?
On the older models with speaker on the back it made a bit of sense, (not really, because the table served as an enhancer) but not on this phone.

I live in the UAE, sand is a constant danger.
I also am heavily into off-roading. you'd be amazed where sand can get.
I have sand in my pockets, ears, nose, mouth etc, this stuff gets everywhere!
Put a screen protector, it's a no brainer for me.
It is really a no-big deal to put the screen protector on your phone.it's not expensive, and it doesn't hurt. right?

I learnt the hard way, I used the Note 1 with no protection for 12 months and sold it with no scratches on the screen. Then on my Note 2 I used a Samsung flip cover, at some point the velvet coating picked up some grit and whilst it was in my pocket scratched the hell out of the screen! Now my Note 3 has a tempered glass screen protector on, and will always have one on!
Mine came pre-scratched
But you can't see it at all when the screen is on. And when off it's barely visible, and you have to hold it just so to see it.

Guys. And girls.
Check your Samsung user manual. Does it tell you not to use a screen protector? Yeah. It really does.
So: go without a screen protector if you want to, and if the screen does get scratched, bring the phone and the user manual to the store while you still have valid warranty. You should be able to get a new phone or a screen exchange.
It says it right in the manual. So if it does get scratched, use your rights as a consumer. You used your phone according to what is outlined in the manual and now it has a defect, so you get a repaired phone or a replacement. You know... That's what the warranty bit is all about.

Even the cheapest tempered is 12 bucks and provides amazing protection. Totally worth it.
I use the Spigen Glass tR on my GN3 , GS4 and GS3
Cant leave the screen unprotected. Must have a screen protector on. Save you from the regret.

I don't know why in this day and age, this common sense fact still has to be repeated in EVERY forum.
Questions on whether the screen is scratch proof keeps popping up in every forum, especially in the [Device]\[Accessories] Forum.
No Gorilla has ever liked, or likes sand up it's Arse !! NONE!
I have not used a screen protector in years. It just diminishes the nice touch screen feeling.

If someone where to carefully inspect your phone under a light, they will be able to see micro scratches scattered across the screen.

That is why we have the hardened glass protectors... It isn't that plastic feel that seems to cause more friction when using the s-pen...

It is glass.... A thin layer of hardened glass over the screen.... Feels like it's naked but gives awesome protection. Costs a bit more than the normal screen protector but well worth it...
The one I got - spigen glasT - has a few different coloured home key raisers in it too... Pick of black, clear or pink...
Oh, and the easiest install I've ever done with no bubbles... Line up on screen and then swipe finger down middle.... Lightly press out any air bubbles that are left, if some small bubbles left over, just leave for a day or two and they disappear... Brilliant....
Thanks, I think I might give one a try.

Glass Vs Film question

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to get your thoughts on this:
I ordered a GPEL glass protector but it wasn't due to arrive, so Saturday, I raced to the TMo store and had them fit a PureGear Extreme Impact.. It was a kind of film protector.. dry, I believe.. with a squeegee thing to make it look better.
The girl made a right hash of it. It looked like it had been in a car crash. But she couldn't do it again because it was the last one they had in store. And when I got home, the tempered glass had arrived anyway, so I took it off and applied that.
Now, I'm thinking of going back to the film. Reason being that as nice as the glass is, there is no oleophobic coating and the reflection is terrible in bright sunlight. I live in LA, so that's a problem. Yesterday in the park, I could barely see my screen.
Now here's my question: when the PureGear was applied, the screen didn't look 100% clear. It's hard to describe it exactly, but there was this faint fuzziness.. which was most apparent when looking at the white elements or lighter pages.
Do you know what I mean? And if so, is that something that goes after 24 hours of use or longer? Or is it permanent with those protectors?
The reason I ask is that I don't want to rip off a $20 glass protector, replace it with a second $30 plastic one and then be stuck looking at a screen and feeling 'meh'..
I'm so paranoid about scratching the screen. Drops and cracks not as much because I'm insured.. but all that stuff that's caused by pocket lint or bits of sand (again, very common where I live near the coast.) I remember my S7 Edge last year.. I cared for it like a baby and yet, within a few days, there was a scratch in the coating of the glass and it was awful..
Anyone with experience able to weigh in on this please?
Thanks!
glass protectors suck for the s8, none of them fit the curve right and if you have a case its even worse. i tried gpel and techarmor were terrible
I have the zagg hd on mine it is the military grade film it had some small bubbles the first day now I can't tell it's on

I have a Verizon tempered glass on mine with no problems. Only been installed a few days. I thunk the key to these installs are the templates that are included with some protectors.

Really? You don't get any of that slight haze or fuzziness I mentioned?
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
A screen protector is a must! IMHO, at least you have one on. I had ordered a glass protector prior to getting my phone. When they both arrived put on the glass one on and looks great. Then i put on my spigen tough armor case and it went to ****. Seems you need a "Case friendly" protector. After that, raced to tmo and got one of theirs and also, not case friendly so it bubbles up compared to the glass one that is pushed up by the case. The current film i have on does the job but agree it doesnt compliment the screen resolution as well as a glass one would but the glass may only take a few hits and its crap.
The gpel is a good glass for me no complaints

Why pay triple the price? They're easy to put on yourself if you know the trick.
Get an Armorsuit protector (I have the case friendly one) on Amazon for less than $8. Get two in case you screw up.
Clean the screen with alcohol. Go into the bathroom and run the shower for five min to get the room very steamy. This is the trick. It takes the dust out of the air. Put on the protector, preferably at night because it takes a few hours for the haze you speak of to dry (this is a wet install--much easier to get the alignment perfect).
Mine is completely perfect with no bubbles, trapped dust, or haze. You can only see it is there because of the cutouts for the sensors and camera.
Don't pay those guys extra for crappy installations.
With a little practice, I've become so good at this that my friends ask me to do their phones.

Does it not feel rubbery or anything like older screen protectors? I've used glass on my last few phones, so I don't know if these have gotten any better.

Nice trick, never thought of that
The Armor Suit, after several days, has not developed the little indentations and lines that were always there with the same product on my S7 Edge. It feels smooth, not grippy or rubbery. It also stays adhered to the curved edges without lifting up and getting dust under it like I found when I had my Note 7. Very impressed so far.

I use some great Yootech protectors on my S6E+, that are pre-curved film, and very tough. I cant yet see them anywhere for the S8, only their wet application ones. I'm hoping they will appear soon.

Thanks for this guys. I've just ordered two armor suits from Amazon.. One case friendly and one not case friendly.
I've been applying screen protectors for years and always used the bathroom trick. Glass and dry. Never done the wet install thing.. Always looks quite difficult to get right and a dust accident waiting to happen because if there is that one speck of stray dust, it's my phone that's going to get it underneath. I hope I can apply this wet screen protector without messing things up ?
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Wet is actually easier, I think. The only downside is the few hours it takes for the liquid to evaporate completely. For the edges, wait 10-15 minutes after you've squeegeed the middle and then smooth them into place with the provided cloth.
