Recommendations for Mi5 Case That Does Not Cover SIM Card Storage - Xiaomi Mi 5 Accessories

I need to remove my SIM card from my Mi5 quite frequently. All the cases and covers for Mi5 that I've seen so far covers up the SIM card storage, so I would have to remove the case before removing the SIM card.
Anyone has any recommendations for any casing that does not cover the SIM card storage? I'm just looking for a simple, transparent soft (rubber-like) cover for the back of the phone (mainly because it's slippery).

Buy any cover/case that you think is fit for you, then remove the portion of the case/cover that covers the SIM tray by blade...

most people buy dualsim phones so they dont have to switch

My SD card crapped out

The packaging fell apart. It's like the plastic case was made very poorly. This means the read only switch fell out and it doesn't want to go back in. My question is
1. Is there any way I can solder something onto the SD card chip, like jump a few pins and force it to be read/write all the time?
2. If not, is there any SD card that DOES NOT have a switch to lock the card in case the packaging fails and it falls out?
It sounds like a really lousy card. Usualy the chip will fail long before the plastic becomes damaged.
If I were you I would get a new card, and not risk loosing my data.
MMC cards come without the switch as a standard and so do miniSD cards which are usually sold whith an SD adapter.
Sorry, can't help you on the soldering part.
The card still works, although it is read only, and a bit tricky to insert/remove because the plastic is falling apart. The quality of the plastic is really bad, it's quite brittle. I believe that the adhesive that held together the 2 halves of the outside shell caused the failure.
Thanks for the reccomendation on the miniSD and MMC cards, I'll look into some of those.
Just as a FYI only, what brand of card did you have that fell apart?? I'd like to know so I can avoid it if/when I buy another one.

[Q] Sim Card Cutting

I bought a Noosy micro sim cutter, and it looks like my t-mobile sim is a little weird. The gold part isn't centered, and instead is farther to the left side than it should be. I'm afraid that if I cut it with the cutter it will cut off some of the gold part and not work...anyone know if it would be a problem?
EDIT: Never mind, I did it and it worked

carrying your sd cards

I suppose that other users do it as well, anyway this is my trick to carrying my sd cards: A thin double face adhesive tape.
Best Regards
nice , i do that with my sim cards

Space under the back cover?

I've received a Barclays bpay band which is a wristband enabled to make wireless payments. Inside the wristband is a small removable chip about the size of 2 SIM cards side by side and the same thickness of a SIM card.
The wristband itself is rather ugly and I'm wondering if there is any space under the back cover of the phone so I could place the chip in there. As original backcovers are hard to come by I didn't want to start taking mine off to have a look as knowing my heavy hands there is a good chance I could damage it.
So if there is anybody on here who has taken off their back cover do you think there would be room for the chip?
There's a very comprehensive teardown on ifixit here:

The card fitted perfectly under the backcover between the battery and the camera but unfortunately none of the wireless pay points ive tried it at could detect the card.

Sd card mount and un-mounting fixed.

Ive read elsewhere about the sd card keeps mounting and un-mounting, and its constantly doing it on my s7 edge and i keep having to redo what ringtones and notifications sounds i have assighned to various things like contacts and sms since i have them on the sd card. That sd card/sim card tray is very flimsy and needs to be "beefed" up, id consider it a manufacture defect. Anyway, My card is a PNY 128GB High Speed MicroSDXC and was working fine in my note 3. So, what i did is remove the sd card tray and use a piece of scotch tape and stick it on across the top of sd card and sim card and the top length of the frame of the card tray. Do not overlap the tape over the edges of the frame, trim it off with a razor or exacto knife. use tape wide enough to use only one piece as to not make it too thick or you may have issue with removing the tray. I used 2 pieces of tape and the tray goes in fairly tight, i haven't tried to remove the tray yet so i may have a bit of an issue removing, so just go with one piece of tape to start with and see if that resolves you're un-mounting issue. Mine has gone away since my fix with no more issue
Yeah I noticed its very easy for the micro SD card to slip a little bit out of its tray when its being pushed back into the phone, even if the tray is completely inside and flush with the case. I just make sure the phone and the tray and the sd card are completely level on a table when sliding it in, as gravity helps to align these things better then if the phone is upright in your hands while slotting it in. Jeez that sounds so dirty when I typed that.
Well poop, hold the phone. My issue is back. It was fine last night and this morning and now this afternoon its back to doin its thang !
I guess this pny card is not compatible. I just put in a kingston card and so far so good, we'll see how it goes.
Don't know if these anecdotal experiences are all that useful, but on my s7 edge, I could not reliably use a Samsung evo SD card (128gb), but my slightly slower Lexar 128gb card seems to work fine. Both cards are solid in a USB reader on a Windows PC, and also work reliably in my Droid Turbo 2.

Even if I eject my 64 evo, it keeps coming back and mounting itself randomly. Please make tech sup cases at Samsung so they look into this.
I did the tape on the Micro SD card and the Sim card and so far so good. I'll keep you posted. Only use one piece of tape.
