[ROM][CM12.1][Stable]CyanogenMod 12.1 for LG G Stylo [H631 and MS631] - LG G Stylo ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Deve

I created a separate thread from http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/cyanogenmod-12-1-h631-ms631-10j-10j-t3259281 because this is my work.
This is the final patch for finishing CM 12.1 (unless there are still bugs) as I start on CM 13.
What works:
Phone
LTE (not VoLTE, restriction in CM AFAIK)
2g/3g voice/data
Camera (new: recording)
Screen (if you have an older Stylo screen, please download the attached boot.img otherwise the screen will shut off after first bootup and not turn on)
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth
NFC
Not Working (natively):
LED (http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/enable-hidden-notification-led-your-nexus-6-0158788/ Following this will let it work)

Update August 17: Here are a few tricks to increase stability:
1) Flash over Lollipop stock. I recommend 10L. If you cant find a KDZ just take an older one and do some OTA updates. Don't upgrade to Marshmallow though (although an unlocked bootloader is OK).
2) GPS and AGPS (high accuracy) seems to cause random reboots. I believe this may be related to thermal protection but it has been impossible to track down. Until then I'd recommend downloading an app to change the lowest frequency the CPU is at from 800 to 200 MHz. I use an app called Device Control which is free from the Play Store.
3) Some people have noted data being enabled causes reboot loops. This seems to be related to not flashing over 10L but you can also flash Katana's Metro files here according to one user: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=43660
For an update CM13 is full of nope. I'm still trying to get the kernel to compile.

Worked perfectly.

Can't wait to see the CM13. Thank you.

Awesome. I think there are a couple stability bugs when GPS is on but it runs well. I'm using it right now.

Currently I have a problem while using Gapps, whenever I proceed to set up a google account it crashes. Has Gapps worked for anyone?

When I go to flash the boot.zip file I get an error in twrp do I go in the other thread and download the orginial boot.zip for the 1st gen stylo?, the rom flashes fine but it will just go into a boot loop when setting up the phone.

I flashed it with the 10j boot zip and everything was fine until... With every version of cm that Ive ever tried to use on this phone I end up getting phantom touches that render the rom unusable.

The boot.zip is if you have an original Style with the older nicer screen. If you have the newer one then you dont need it. I'm talking the same 631 model but the display got cheaper apparently so there is a different driver.

Do you have a newer screen? I have the older screen. It may he a display driver bug but I have no way to test.

I believe I have the old one. Maybe I need the appropriate boot.zip?

So has Google Play worked for you? I cant seam use a google app without the phone crashing. What do you do in order for the GApps to work / way to install. I installed GApps the traditional way, also tried to side-load google play services/store but google play services crash while play store loads but is stuck on the loading wheel.
On the side note, everything else in this rom works perfectly.

To check, take out the battery and see in the battery cover if there's a 10j or a 10i.
10j=New model .
10i=Old model.

I have the older screen.. What I did was flashed bradys first released CM then backed up the Boot file with TWRP. Then flashed the newest CM (this thread) and it should work.

So I have 10b on my lg g stylo...what does that mean

Afaik, if it comes preinstalled with android 5, then its the old 10i model. I didnt really notice that lg made a new model that came preinstalled with Marshmallow(10b). Does that screen flicker? If it does then the 10b model is the sames 10j.

Mines came with 5.0.2 at the time, can you point me in the right direction for the old boot.img file I've tried TR, BR first build, also the boot img in this thread and still boot looping for me.

Temporary Fix
I managed to do a temporary fix for using google apps using MicroGms and installing the official play store app
https://microg.org/
View attachment 3816978
Make sure to install xposed and use this http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.thermatk.android.xf.fakegapps
Install the official playstore apk and install Gmscore app found in linked website. Then enable root in cyanogenmod, so that you can access the directory where the playstore/gmscore apps are (/data/app), move their folders to (system/priv-app), and reboot. Now finally sign in to your google account and now you have google play. Not everything works but most apps run well.
A thing to note while using this is location services does not work on its own without installing a backend which you check on here https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_UnifiedNlp/blob/master/README.md#usage

open_gapps-arm-5.1-nano-20160109.zip was the file I downloaded. https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releases

I want to give this a try, I can always make a nandroid backup and go back to Katana.

AOSP 6.0.0 Marshmallow Build

So with the Sony binaries and Marshmallow sources released, I figured it was worth trying a build.
I don't have my Z3C on me so no idea how well it'll work but here you go. Roasted Marshmallow, hot off the build server
EDIT: Title is probably wrong, as pointed out by a mod. I based it on the Git ref being "6.0_r1", which I thought meant "6.0.1". This is really 6.0. Specifically, a build based on the exact instructions posted by Sony.
MOD EDIT by @gregbradley
I edited the title for you .
Flashed on a 5803 on T-Mobile USA and it isn't seeing the SIM card. Also, when it unlocks, it gets hung up for a few seconds.

dmesg suggests that this may be due to lack of modem.mdt. I'll look into it.
EDIT: From what I can see this looks like a proprietary Sony file that they haven't released. It may also be built with the kernel but that I can't say. Either way I opened a bug on Github that they can hopefully address.
Okay great

Don't jump the gun. There are a lot of files in a standard Android build and I don't know if it comes from them or if it's a product of the build process. It could just be a misconfiguration on my part. The bug is for info, not because it's their fault.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/orig-development/rom-marshmallow-6-0-z-ultra-t3224321
They seem to have fixed the modem by using the files from the current firmwares.
Just refreshing the page for a build with working modem as i don't have the environment neither the skill to build from scratch

I tried that last night using one of the files from the various vendor repos but no luck. The kernel module threw errors about the data being invalid. I'll try extracting from official firmware when I get home. Also that thread doesn't yet have anyone confirming that it works :/

I don't have my Z3C with me so I'm unlikely to be able to do anything helpful for ~9h, when I get home. You'll have to be a little patient
Okay, got a build up to date with Git and with a modem copied from one of the latest firmwares (ripped it from the SLIM stock ROM). Wouldn't get your hopes up but it might work
EDIT: No luck. It doesn't seem there's an available modem that's likely to work. Unless someone can suggest another device with close enough hardware and a working Marshmallow modem (seems doubtful), we're lost until someone can extract one from a legitimate Sony firmware or Sony releases it to us (seems unlikely).
Thanks for doing this Gairtail, let's hope you get it up and running soon (if Sony or someone else uploads the modem file..)
Jerpelea says modem is now working on shinano, using the new kernel blobs.
(Just forwarding information I've been told that you might find useful.)
http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/10/2...lable/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook refer here to get that modem from the ftf that sony relased for both z3 and z3c !

Thanks. I tried to do a compile today but there were some issues in the repo that broke it (qcom media stuff). I'll try in another day or two and hopefully things will have settled down.
Since you're talking about the modem parts, and i seem to have a problem with my WiFi, is anybody in here able to provide the /persist and /modem folder from the stock MM rom? Mine seems to have been lost after flashing an alternative rom

I built on Novenber 5th, worked just fine. Just synced and started another build, but the November security update isn't here yet, bummer. (I reckon another 24 hours should do it.)
If you'd like, I can upload the build for you.

I don't know for sure, but wouldn't flashing a stock FTF solve this?
Overall, I'm starting to like AOSP. Camera now works on every boot (unlike Nougat, because of the memory allocation gone bad), though AF and AE are a bit off, and it's stable enough to use as a daily driver.
Also, not sure if you guys also get this, but I've been getting the dwc3-msm wakelock a lot. Happens because of kernel bug that keeps phone awake, thinking it's connected to a power source even after it's been disconnected. Drained my battery for 17 hours before I even noticed. I don't know if the official method with prebuilt kernels also has this, but I build the upstream sonyxperiadev/kernel repo myself. If you use a kernel source too, instead of using the prebuilt kernels, you could try picking this. Looks to be working for me, but it hasn't been merged yet, so take that as you will.
EDIT: Noticed this isn't upstream Marshmallow, but r1. Bummer.
You should really switch to 6.0.1, the 1.3.3 kernel is much better than 1.2.2 (and without the memalloc reboots caused by media/video). Though if you prefer not to switch, you could still add my uploads to the OP alongside yours if you want? That way we have 6.0 and 6.0.1 under one roof?
@someone755 so should i be able to extract those files without the need to flash?

No reason to avoid flashing, really. Make a backup of system and boot, don't wipe userdata, and have a recovery image handy. Flash FTF, flash recovery, restore system and boot.
The only things that get updated are your modem and bootloader etc, your system and data stay untouched.
Though depending on when you last flashed an FTF, it may be a good idea to wipe your data in recovery before you flash (and back it up, of course). Some firmware can only be updated after Android has booted, like NFC for example.
So best would be to completely start from scratch and wipe everything i guess? Do you have any links to guides for FTF etc? Im not that into these things :/

I'm not saying it's best, but it could help you avoid potential issues. I don't know what all you've been doing with your device, so I can't make the call for you. Just telling you how it is.
This is a nice thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706 You'll also need FlashTool if you go down this route, you can Google it to download.
EDIT: @Gairtial I have today's 6.0.1 source in a nice zip. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=127723
There's also a folder with the kernels for 6.0.1/7.0/7.1 that I'll try to keep up to date, if there's any interest for that. (The kernel zip will flash to any of the three Android versions, so long as the ROM is AOSP-based. Other than that, it's version-independent.)
Another note would be that I didn't make any changes to the ROM build. GApps will have issues starting unless you do some adb wizardry, and you'll get your recovery overwritten with the useless AOSP one if you flash the ROM zip in recovery. (You could also just try flashing system and boot through fastboot, though I haven't tried.)

I'm tired of using stock Sony roms, and I'm starting to hate them. Still waiting for those latest camera blobs though for AOSP. I've tried your uploaded build, but it's causing a bootloop somehow. Didn't flash the separate kernel, but I don't see the need for that since there is one included in rom zip. Not sure what is the problem...

Thanks goes out to @wbrambley for his involvement in testing & helping to solve / fix bugs!
I noticed that "mm-pp-daemon" was stopping the CPU from going in to sleep state and keeping it at full clocks but after killing the process it reloaded and was fine.
@nutsda, I've tried to pm this but its not working. Probably some spell check safety net
You should post a link here. http://www.modaco.com/forums/forum/796-vodafone-smart-ultra-6/
the SU6 has its own device forum on Modaco and I'm sure it would create some interest.
I've pushed(?) a change that enables the NFC and also put up my overlay folders. There's some stuff in there you might like.
The sensors (Accelerometer, Magnetic field and Rotation vector) are still causing grief.
How fast is your phone to "wake up" from sleep? My buttons light up but screen on takes about 5 seconds. (could be the sensor hal cal firing up but im not 100% sure.)

Use recovery to flash a 5.1 stock ROM, then you can get temporary root. I'm guessing you've found a guide for this. After that I recommend flashing stock MM from TWRP. There's one with edited uodater-script around that will work.

I haven't tried the other custom roms but I believe it will be because most of them are ported from another phone rather than specifically built for this phone.

You have to download SuperSU to get root access as Lineage doesn't have root access built in.

I can register new fingerprints, but i cant use them to unlock my phone or to login on apps.
I installed TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/development/recovery-twrp-3-1-1-xperia-x-compact-t3640914, the OEM image and I'm testing OmniROM now, thanks for your work, where can I report bugs?
OmniROM work greatly on my device, I'm using since 14 Jan without any problem! Really Thanks!

Lost mobile data today. At first boot, working fine, then installed AfWall and changed dns, and still working fine yesterday. Then this morning, no mobile data. Signal shows bars, but no 4g/lte, etc, and won't connect. Tried disabling and uninstalling tweaks and many reboots, but no change.
Update - now it's in and out...

I am testing now. I haven't checked it enough to saying it's a rom issue; just wondering if anyone else has had it. It worked find with AfWall yesterday, but now in and out. I remember the same issue with AfWall on certain CM 12 roms...
oh man, thanks for making these ROMs, but the updater of 7.1 recommended this update and I just pressed install. Recovering from a brick now…
I'll come back to it later, when I have time for all the prerequisites.
OpenDelta
Nice work. OpenDelta advertised this update which I naturally installed without checking the requirements here. No requirements were stated before the update. Bricked my phone in a place where I couldn't do much about it. Just ask to please be more considerate since I more or less trust the update tool.
FYI: I dirty flashed from 7.1.2 via opendelta too. Once I flashed the oem partition using fastboot, the device booted again (only a handful of apps force closed and needed their data cleared to function properly again). Not the best choice to make this update available for installation with opendelta, no...
edit: forgot to mention I of course also had to update gapps to an 8.1 supporting version. I downloaded an unofficial pico opengapps from here

Good to know flashing the odm image helps when updating from 7.1
About opendelta, i don't have much control over it to filter out the 8.1 build. It's all done automatically.
Besides, it did do its job well. It notified about the new version.
The requirement to flash a seperate ODM image is similar to how it's needed to flash a vendor image, and not just system and boot images, on Google devices. Guess that's new for Sony devices, hence this confusion.
@oshmoun - how about kcal support? Here's my tests with kppd - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75200267&postcount=64 (and forward)
@oshmoun: Yeah I was kind of surprised to see 8.1 was available through opendelta, and I didn't think it would work. So I backed up everything before upgrading. Which is probably what people should do before upgrading anyway
Flashing the oem partition was a relatively easy fix, so it's all good.
Thanks again for your great work! It's much appreciated as the number of custom roms for kugo is really slim pickings.
Latest stock ftf compatible is 34.3.A.0.252, right?
EDIT: It seems so. Flashed it and this build works great with it, so far.
I've performed a clean install after full wipe and also don't have mobile data working. Wi-Fi works, though.
Strange issue I have is the lack of sound over bluetooth ONLY in calls. Playing music/video works otherwise. It's quite baffling. This was working as expected on 7.1.

Awesome work! I've finally got me a full featured daily driver
I still got my OG Stylo lying around somewhere. Guess I'll give this ROM a try...
After attempting to reboot after installing, I got a "Kernel Crash!" error. Now my Wi-Fi won't work after restoring a Nandroid backup. Good thing the OG Stylo isn't my primary phone, anymore.
EDIT: I just realized Bluetooth is busted, too.
EDIT 2: After reading from sources outside of XDA, the firmware should have definitely been on v20k before flashing this. Oh well. I might check into attempting to fix the issues, one day.
But ever since I moved on to the OnePlus 5, I only use the OG Stylo as an alarm clock. As long as that still functions, at least it won't end up in the dumpster.
Gave this ROM a go. VERY pleased! WiFi had a hiccup but now working. I can connect to Bluetooth but can not hear audio. Any others come across this? I'm on the metro version of the Stylo.
Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to install and any plan to post Official Release (14.1 or 15 later)?
Thanks..
This is cool... hoping to get a Google-less minimal fernsprecher going, but this time (compared to your other 14.1 build) I can't see any providers-- just 'error while searching for networks.' Now I'm guessing the reason is the same in both cases-- I started from wrong official ROM. Can anyone point to a 63120k kdz? All the old links I found yet are dead
ed: Tried to prove to myself that a kdz was even useful. I have a few wrong kdz sitting around still-- 10j, 20b, 20l. LG Flash Tool wouldn't actually change anything, ever, no matter what. ("Consult your system administrator". Well, he's me... baka.) And LGUP looked like it was doing great the first time, right up until it gave me back a shiny brick (QHSUSB__BULK), so ...maybe later?
:: phasepalm ::
ed-2: found https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-ms631-firmwares/ so now all I have to do is get QFIL to do anything.
I love this OS. I removed the Nexus launcher and installed the new pixel 2 launcher in its place though. Every now and again I have to disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth. But that's not really a problem for me. WiFi sometimes drops but reconnect. I can't wait for the new lineage OS.

Nope, because the OP's phone was destroyed.
On another note: I was also able to get my OG Stylo up and running again with LG Bridge yesterday, with the latest official update (Marshmallow). I might try this ROM again, one day.

Like I said, I finally found https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-ms631-firmwares/ and v20k is on there but no promises unless you can find the known good MD5 hash somewhere. I couldn't just try it because again, this ms631 is bricked in 9008-mode.

Hey there I got it. What I did was I hooked up to LG Bridge and let LG do the repair from the upgrade repair button and it got my phone back to square one which was fine. From there i unlocked the bootloader and booted from TWRP 2.8.7.1 image file and then once inside TWRP I installed version TWRP 3.2.0-0 recovery from the zip file. At that point I then was able to do an advanced wipe and wipe out the system and then do the lineage install from there. Once that worked I wiped it out and installed CyanogenMod just to see if it will go on as well and it did. So I went back and wipe that out and put the lineage OS back on there with the opengapps and it's running flawlessly! I also installed magisk to root it and everything is running fine. The only thing I miss from the LG part of the software was the knock on knock off feature. And I downloaded a tap on tap off app for that but you can't use any other locks with it. but I'm good, and thanks! Because I hated that stock operating system with all the bloatware even though MetroPCS didn't have as much garbage as the T-Mobile or other versions but still now I can control Play Store and everything else. I in fact use APK pure to get most of my apps if I can find the software there.
Hey I got my LG g Stylo and might use it again with lineage on it. I need to understand you're flashing a nougat custom rom over a mm stock room and it works? Also, I have 20o and in reading I see 20k is the requirement? Hope to hear feedback, thanks in advance. And can anybody tell me how they got twrp 3.0.2 on the stylo? I can't seem to do it with an unlocked bootloader via adb.

Your best bet is (very likely) to back up stuff and wipe it all out. I use SMS Backup Restore, manually export contacts, copy the files to SD, etc. Then to answer your other question-- root using apk from Kingroot.net which works but it loses root every time you reboot. So before you do, you can use Flashify to flash TWRP onto recovery, also run TitaniumBackup once and put everything on SD card. Then with TWRP running you could install SuperSU zip onto the stock rom and it actually sticks, but you would (make yet another backup and) wipe the phone before starting fresh with Lineage and then restoring your stuff piecewise. That was last year, though, might have forgotten something. Like it's hard to remember but I *think* you can skip the Kingroot & Flashify routine altogether, just reboot to fastboot and on the computer 'fastboot boot twrp-x.x.x.x.img' to boot it once-- even though it won't flash it directly. Then 'adb push twrp-x.x.x.x.img /sdcard' and then inside TWRP, flash it using [Install Image] under [Install] instead of the usual zip file. HTH

The phone is bricked now. I did a fastboot boot twrp and installed magisk zip. Then installed flashify and flashed twrp image. Then formatted data and installed the lineage os and it didn't go through. I was in a hurry so I didn't backup the stock ROM. And so I pulled the battery and put it in download mode and flashed kdz. And when it finished the screen went black and shows no signs of life no matter what I do.

Help with nexus 7 (2012) rom

Hi. for 2 days I have been googling and looking on this forum on which rom is best for nexus 2012, but I can't find anything at all. most posts are for 2013 version or outdated with dead links.
I was able to get lineage 14.1 on it, but it was missing google play, after following some guide here and installing Gapps, it then stopped booting. it got stuck on the google logo and that's it. lineage 14.1 itself worked fine, installation of gapps succeeded, but simply won't boot. tried several times. always gets stuck on google logo (waited over 15 minutes).
before that i had some kali version on it, but out of the blue it stopped working and wouldn't boot anymore, that's where i deciced to try lineage. i dont want kali on it anymore as it was sluggish to start with.
so I thought I'll just put original rom on it and was looking for original 2012 rom download, but it seems like it comes in pieces like system.img boot.img ..etc and I don't want to overwrite my bootloader or lock the device again or cause other issues. I just want a working rom that can be sideloaded.
can someone please point out which rom is actually working with nexus 7 2012 and can be flashed using sideload or twrp loader.
I already have everything working, such as twrp, fastboot ..etc. I can easily sideload any working zip or img, but I simply can't find a working one.
I find only dead links on this forum and elsewhere, such as this one "xxxxxx" which is suppose to be for some nightly version. and some dead gapps links that point to dead domains or link just doesn't even exist.
please dont start suggesting to buy new tablet. i'm poor and i have no money and i only need this tablet to use with my smart plugs and camera. i'm not going to buy new tablet just for that. i just want to keep it on charger 24/7 so i can monitor my plugs and camera. that's all.
but for that i need working android rom and google play store so i can download and update apps.
I don't have any backups nor important data on it, however i want to keep it unlocked and keep the twrp.
any help would be appreciated. thanks.

it was bit sluggish and got stuck couple times during boot, but it worked.
I think better question to ask is: does any of the ROMs comes with gapps?
It was like 5-6 years ago so i don't remember much, but i installed some version of kali on it and it had everything included (play store and other stuff). however as i mentioned before, for some reason it got really, really sluggish and at some point it just stopped booting completely.
so your question is about gapps. ROMs always should provided without google apps for licence violation.
use older installer. check recovery.log
