[ROM] [COMMUNITY][MM 6.0.1] OctOS (Shield Tab) - Updated September 10, 2016 - Shield Tablet Android Development

[ROM] [COMMUNITY][MM 6.0.1] OctOS (Shield Tab) - Updated September 10, 2016
Another build, compiled from source. But before I get too far...
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and
* YOU acknowledge you are doing so at your own risk.
*/
Now that that's out of the way, this is a build of OctOS, using the device tree, kernel and advice from @Steel01 and the Tegra team. The current build is based off the latest nightly at the time.
NOTICE:
The August 23rd build is going through some further testing as the file is ~30MB smaller than the rest. If using it, make sure you are coming from a previous OctOS MM build first. Have not seen any issues so far, but that may be because I dirty flashed.
WHAT WORKS:
Powers on
Touch
Wifi
Audio
Charges
Play Store (using GApps)
Basic stylus use (of course)
HDMI AV Output (picture only - see below)
Mobile data with Aug 23rd build, for LTE variant (to be confirmed)
WHAT DOES NOT WORK:
No Nvidia controller support
Kodi (older than Jarvis 16beta4) and some games do not have touch
Audio does not come through on HDMI connection
Issue of power-off stalls with the backlight left on until device reboots instead Backlight does stay on for about 12 seconds, but device does power off now
Automatic brightness causes tablet to freeze randomly. Reboot and turn off automatic to fix.
DOWNLOAD:
Mirror (AndroidFileHost)
GAPPS:
OpenGApps
INSTRUCTIONS:
Download ROM above, and GApps package
Save/push files to your (External) SD card (preferably in the root folder where you can find it later)
Reboot into recovery ("adb reboot recovery")
Nandroid/Back up device (optional, but highly recommended, especially if coming from stock)
[*]If coming from Android 5.x...
Reboot to bootloader, activate fastboot (second option)
Flash staging blob from K1 ROM ... "fastboot flash staging blob.img"
Select option to power off device, wait a few seconds, then power on
Let the system bootloop (if applicable), then power off (hold the power button for 10 to 12 seconds)
Use the magic keys (Vol-Dn + Pwr) to get back into bootloader, activate fastboot
Flash TWRP ... "fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery.img"
Wipe cache and data/factory reset (unless updating from previous OctOS build)
Install ROM, and GApps
Wipe Dalvik cache
Reboot
Enjoy!

Thanks for the detailed instructions-- kept me from bricking this tablet (again). I noticed the bootloader is now "[undef-build]" as the version number, however everything seems to work OK... Unfortunately the nvidia images do not include bootloader and radios, I guess theyre in the staging blob.
Using with latest bitOK kx6 kernel. Had some weirdness w/ charging but after reflashing DTB and waiting a day it seems ok. Battery life with screen-off is good, screen on...not great but seems about the same as 5.1.1. From what I can see there is no misc drain.

This is great , do not stop ! We need a stable 4.4
New Boot.img !
Fixed Deep Sleep bug, Front Camera and a lot of little fixes...
Link to download new boot.img : http://www103.zippyshare.com/v/xRRsoYKi/file.html you have to flash with TWRP recovery.
I installed Open Gapps 4.4.4, and the rom is very usable.
Have a nice day !
Hi!
I flashed rom. The end of the setup wizard fc aosp keyboard. Very hard situation, I did not create google account. I copied from phone Swiftkey app, then was good.
SD card not mounted, can not be used. There is a solution?
Thank you for your work!
(I'm sorry my English is very bad)
Very Strange. ..
I have no Fc. Internal sdcard Works.
You are right. External sdcard does not work.
Use the Last Boot.img.
I flashed open GApps 444 stock too.
Tab works Very fine.
Lilliput works Very fine too. ?

It isn't a nexus7. Baseband is unknown because it is a Duma. What is the issue that baseband Can make?
My tablet ME302KL, not Nexus7.Wifi connect to router, but not mobilnet. Dirty flash: rom, open gapps, new boot img = baseband unknow.
Mobile network works fine. 3g and 4G.
Solved Baseband unknow, but 3G and 4G work fine over wifi.

Prerequisites for Installation
- Must have an unlocked bootloader
- Update TWRP to Android-7.1 builds located here. Please make sure to use the recovery image which is appropriate for your device (Thor or Apollo).
Fresh Installation
- Backup your existing ROM first
- Wipe the /data partition (but you can keep the media storage)
- Flash the ROM File
- Flash Open Gapps: use an ARM 7.1 version smaller than the "full" size to make sure it fits
- Reboot
- Enjoy!
LineageOS-eXtended Downloads
LineageOS Builds for Thor (ggow)
LineageOS Builds for Apollo (ggow)
Gapps
- Open Gapps (use a size smaller than "Full" to make sure it fits)
NOTE: Here's what I do to solve the "Play Games" side load issue... Anytime I update my GApps zip file:
- I download the "full" and "mini" versions of GApps
- Extract the "GApps/playgames-arm.tar.lz" file from the "full" file and add it to the "GApps" folder of the "mini" file.
- Open the installer.sh script in the "mini" file and move the "playgames" line from the full_gapps_list= section into the mini_gapps_list= section
- I use this modified "mini" .zip when flashing CM-14.1 ROMs so that my Play Games install always works.

MTP storage (both internal and external)
Offline charging

BUGS/Not working:
Laggy recorded videos. In this case, use MX Player, choose SW codecs when you play these videos, they will become normal
Switching to other fonts will get bootloops after restart. In this case, if you use TWRP recovery, go to File Manager >> delete "themes" from /data/system would help you escape this without factory reset
First time installing CyanogenMod 12.1 to your Galaxy , or coming from another ROM:
Install TWRP Recovery

WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition + format /system partition)*
Install the ROM from sdcard using TWRP Recovery
Optionally install the Google Apps ( get it here: https://opengapps.org ) (pico GAPPS recommended)

always says SETUP WIZARD HAS STOPPED
- works stable
- issues with WiFi and Bluetooth. WiFi cannot connect - you have to enter the same password multiple times when connecting for the first time. Then it keeps failing to connect from time to time
- more laggy than stock rom and resurrection remix
- installation is very straightforward
Thanks for sharing this rom. Lots of good work.

CyanogenMod 12.1 for SM-J100H with dual SIMs
Thanks for posting this ROM, gave me a chance to test in on a SM-J100H with dual sims: flashed the ROM, the fix and then gapps. Was thinking not to have gapps but an app was requiring Google Play services.
Setup Wizard stopped several times after reboot, worked around it by restarting the phone. Mobile connection was unstable for both sims and kept dropping, overall performance was slow, especially when in Settings. Not sure if RAM on this phones can be upgraded, mentioning it since free memory was scarce.
As noted by another user WIFI setup had to be repeated for it to stick, good work for keeping it simple thu.

Totally agreed, it has limitations due to small RAM and older technology. am using my SM-J100H learning about behavior of various custom ROMs. Please bear with me, one observation when using Bluetooth, it said SM-G360H, perhaps not significant. was able to transfer files and use an app that required Bluetooth connection. Just curious if this could cause slow response time. Thanks again.

Hi everyone i want to share a gsi vendor image that boots most Q and P roms for the samsung galaxy j4 core.
How to install:
reboot to twrp go to format data type yes *this will format all your data*
go back to wipe and select system, vendor, cache, data and dalvik then swipe to wipe
go to install click on install image select the gsi image file then swipe to flash
now select install zip and click on the vendor image you have downloaded and swipe to flash
finally you can flash gapps if your gsi doesn't include them *note: if you dont have enough space to install gapps to to wipe select system and select repair or change file system click on resize system then swipe to reisze*
and if you are into rooting flash magisk zip file
note try to not install gsi roms that aren't over 1.2gb lineageos 17.1 and dotos are prefered
BUGS:
none
What works:
-boots
