Joying 10.1 Ford Install - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I have just finished my install of the joying 10.1 inch android 5.1.1. In a 2010 ford focus.
I had to add the screen extensions to move it away from the heating controls
I have also added the neotech dab dongle but don't have a proper dab aerial I used a converter box of eBay which is suppose to change a normal non amplified in to a dab, I do get signal but only a few bars ( also the wavesync app is not great.
My only issue so far is when I make a call it only outputs 1 speaker ( need to check a few more calls) everything else works from all speakers not sure if it's the same for others?
So so far pretty pleased with it..
Will be pleased to answer any questions u have..[emoji4]

great pics. How was the actual install difficulty? how bout the unit, how is the speed?

The install was quick already had a joying unit for Ford so the harness was all ready set up. It uses my existing gps just needed to get a connection for it. I also had to buy a 2 din facia for my dash.
Speed wise it boots quicker but slows down a bit when it first gets to the android screen if you try to do to many things at once but if you give it a few minutes to boot fully it's ok.

I think phone will play from the driver side speaker only , check your speakers make sure the speaker for the driver front side is connected to the correct wire.
actually I think I was testing the mtcD head unit in USA and the speaker would play it on the right front instead of left .. so it should be set already corrcetly for europe but for USA with driver on left you might want to switch the speakers. I have reported this to Joying as a bug , asked them to add a switch for left and right driver fix on phone speaker. that would be a dmcu update

Yea it is on the driver side but would prefer all speakers.

did you get some kind of special adapter? my car has GPS, i would rather use that antenna if I could.

Yes just had to get a gps fakra to sma lead to use my factory fitted gps. But I had the joying one just sat on top of the stereo and had no problems.

IBolt Charging Car Dock

I've been shopping around for a good car dock for the one-s for a while, and am feeling excited about this little guy:
http://shop.htcpedia.com/ibolt-charging-car-dock-htc-one-s.html
Anyone have one? What are your thoughts? I need something that will let me keep my diztronic case on and still charge the phone, this looks like the best option...
Edit: it looks like there are a few reviews on the vendors site stating that this just the one x dock repackaged
Looks really nice. A little pricier than I'd like, but looks really good.

All, I am with iBOLT. The HTC One S is the same Dock as the one for the X, that is correct. It works perfect but there's a 3-4 mm open space once inserted on the left side as the S is smaller then the X. The functionality is the same, it starts the car mode with the very good HTC car dock application but we are hearing that many are using CarHome Ultra as well since this app has more flexibility, although possible not as nice looking.
With regards to Aux-out it is correct that this Dock does not work like the iBOLT Galaxy S III Dock with integrated charging/aux-out from the microUSB cable. This is because there's no technical way of taking the aux out from the microUSB connection on the HTC platform. We wish it was since this feature has been incredibly popular on the S III. If your car-stereo features a 3.5 mm jack I would recommend the HTC Bluetooth dongle for Streaming Audio unless it can be done over the BT system.
Hope these comments helps...

I've been thinking about buying one of these but I'm confused. Someone said "no audio out" and you're saying if my car has a 3.5 mm jack get a Bluetooth dongle.
You can access the jack for the headphones when the phone is in the dock correct like shown in this picture (4)? Because I use the headphone jack for audio out. Will the dock work for me?

Yes, the iBOLT Dock can be charged from your USB in your car. You just have to have a microUSB to USB cord, which comes with any car charger that separates the cord from 12 volt charging plug itself.

Yes, the Dock will work if you connect an aux-out cable from the phone itself to your 3.5 mm jack on the car-stereo. This will transfer all sounds from applications, including the ring signal for incoming phone calls to the car-speakers. However, you must pair and use a Bluetooth device (headset, speaker phone, built-in system etc.) for making and receiving phone calls. If you are not connecting to a Bluetooth device for phone calls the audio will be routed to the car-stereo but as there is no microphone on the aux cable so the other party will not be able to hear you. Hope this makes sense?

Aux/Headset problem

I'm having this major problem with the headphone jack. Whenever I have the Aux jack or Headphone jack plugged in, any slight bumps or pushes to the cord will pause or skip the song and it's really annoying. It's extremely sensitive.
I think this happened to me yesterday streaming from Spotify. I thought I was just in a bad service area.

I think the Jack is not that good. Every time I plug in phone to external speakers I get an icon in status bar but no sound comes through. I have to trick it to work by plugging in headphones first unplug then plug phone to external speakers. Using the wire on Nexus 7 or note 3 works like a charm

The first G3 I got had the headphone jack not working directly out of the box. When it did work it would cut out randomly. Swapping devices took care of the issue. I'd take it back and swap it.
Yeah that's the plan. Still in 14 day period, shame cause I just put tempered glass protector on it lol

I actually had the same problem. i went and got it exchanged. and it was fine till today. it started happening again. i guess its bigger problem then i thought
Like I get the whole plugging in Aux to Car or whatever system and the icon pops up but only plays out of the internal speaker. Just start playing music and then plug in the Aux cord before doing anything else. But the jack sensitivity to the cord is just absurd, constant skipping and pausing almost makes me wanna toss this phone against the wall.

Upon searching xda bc I've experienced that aux press play then plug in thing it looks as though it's a software issue wherein the system cannot decipher what type of cable that is hooked into the phone. That would explain why sometimes it doesn't play at all and only does so via speaker. Also I've experienced it having the headphone icon instead of aux icon and the volume is much lower when the headphone icon is present. Hopefully LG fixes the bug soon. Its annoying as all hell

Yeah, Got my G3 a couple of days ago and have found that this is the only workaround for this issue. If they were trying to implement a software feature that was going to "improve" audio quality, they could have made sure it actually works :/ I have 11 days to decide whether or not I'm going to return this phone and idk if I should trust LG to release a fix for this in a timely fashion.
Same issue here.. It's likely a software issue.. Perhaps something to do with power? If the phone has a decent charge (80%) it plays everytime. The past two days I tried when the battery was low (35%)and the aux would not work.. Unless I had my car charger plugged in at the same time, then it worked everytime.
I guess I'm lucky. I've had this phone since July 18th and have used the aux with external speakers at work often with no issues. It sounds great. I did install VIPERANDROID FX but had no issues before or after the install. The usb charger cable is always plugged in when I use the external speakers. I'll try it without the cable to see if there's a difference. Won't be able to do that until Tuesday because the speakers are at work and I'm not going near that place until the Holiday weekend is over.
Update: Tested aux without usb cable and have no issue. Working fine.
I have zero problems on headphones but the AUX out is definitely finicky. The problem is that it's trying to either sense impedance or grounding that's not working very well.
Until they figure out a software patch for this or someone gives us a ROM that disables a rather useless feature I've been using one of these with excellent success... It has enough resistance to trigger the jack every time without issue.

We shouldn't have to do it but this "feature" was definitely implemented very poorly and I'm OK with the workaround simply because of the gorgeous screen.

Hi people... can someone tell me if this dock is compatible with the note 4?

How about a link or specs or something
BAD ASS NOTE 4 + BAD ASS GEAR S
If this is the one http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/...ories/EDD-S20EWEGSTD?subsubtype=desktop-docks the easy answer is no. I have one and the usb otg will work but only if you restart with the handset in the dock also the otg will not work if the hdmi is hooked up. apparently it has something to do with 4.4 and higher not sure what as I am still trying to figure it out
I have this dock, 3.5 output isn't working with Note 4.

I have one of those smart docks for Note 2. Hdmi works with audio. Usb ports work with mouse, keyboard, external hard drive. I didnt test 3.5mm sound out. It does very good job scaling from 2k to 1080p

and i found this little bad boy

would this cable work for galaxy note 7 ? if not, is there any cable that i can transfer to othr screen via hdmi? let me know thanks!
I bought this and no dice. Usb works but no hdmi. Also it won't charge and use USB at the same time. Luckily wireless charging still works.
No MHL on the note 7. Samsung dropped it in favor of miracast / screen cast. Luckily though a Chromecast will do the trick for 35$. Aside from that you could get a miracast dongle. Haven't used those yet so i cant speak on how well they work.

well i've been using smart view to connect note 7 via miracast, but it lags compare to wired connection. same with chromecast also. it connects fine, but lag is my main issue.
Weird.....im getting no lag. Movies play fine buffering from my phone using localcast app. Some MKV movies play a bit choppy but that's the codec I think.
It's a shame because 4x usb and hdmi on 1 adapter is awesome if it all worked. Also, the phone wont charge using it. I am able to wireless fast charge though.

You tried installing the displaylink software on your phone and trying again?
I think these docs are displaylink certified. I have one in my office i will give it a go
---------- Post added at 04:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:56 PM ----------
I just tried it on the dell branded usbc one i have spare in my office with the display like app installed it doesnt work for the display on the note7
It works on the older one with my note3 though
Again. Note 7 dropped MHL. There is no physical link from gpu to the USB port if I'm reading correctly. I wish it wasn't so.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
Wasn't HDMI or display port (not sure which) part of USB-c specs? If so, Note 7 usb-c port is out of spec, we need some software, or maybe it's HDCP, I don't think Display Port is certified for HDCP content, at least not by MS.
playing video and music is perfectly fine, but i need to connect this to my head unit and emulate touch as well from head unit. when note 7 is connected via smartview, theres about 1 second delay and its really annoying. so i was looking for a wired option instead of miracast....

Free Level Speaker - Charging your device

Hey all,
Did anyone else receive their free Level wireless speaker yet? Mine came today
And you know what? It's alright! I'll definitely use it whilst firing up the BBQ or doing the washing up.
But, how the hell do you charge another device from it? Using the supplied micro to micro USB cable and the USB micro to USB type C adaptor does nothing. Even using the micro to micro into another device still doesn't work.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious but there's nothing in the manual about it.
Cheers

I got mine yesterday too, and while it's a bit quiet, the fact you can take it to the pool or the shower, is a big plus. If they were £30 I might buy another to connect two haha.
I am not sure though that it's meant to charge other devices, I think those cables might be to charge the speaker?
According to the Samsung website it should
