Moto G4 Plus Will Be Upgradeable To Android O - Moto G4 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Nice to know, now it's even more preferable for me to wait for the 32/3 GB version before investing in a new phone.

Which buy Nexus 4 or Moto G?

Hi guys, i'm looking for a new cheap android smartphone. I saw nexus 4 is still a good phone, but most people are going with n5 and n4 is no longer supported by google.
I don't want to spend much so i'd prefer to buy moto g. Also, i know android thanks to my friends, but i'm still with nokia 5800 (symbian) and i think i'll be happy switching to android. Which devide do you advice?
Is really resistant moto G? I see it has gorilla 3 instead nexus 4 has gorilla 2. I need a resistant phone because i travel every day with school/work.
Also, i'm going to buy "rubesperry pi", i heard is possible to connect the "pi" to android smarthphone. Is moto g a good device to run "Pi" ? also can Moto G run Ubuntu Touch/Backtrack/Kali linux too? I don't know if 1GB of ram is enough for Moto G
Do you still prefer nexus 4 (2GB of ram) for modding, dual boot other OS etc or Moto G is good too?
thanks a lot for your time reading my post
Could i get some advices please? Or this is wrong section? thank you
Hi, nexus 4 is supported officially , and will be supported unofficially for years to come. Nexus 4 is a far superior phone than moto g and can do anything like Ubuntu or any other os , has support more than any phone

ok thanks, so you advice me to add about 80$ to get the nexus 4? I really need good phone for use linux, rubesperry on, i hope to be sure with n4 or though i could buy moto g for now and then get the n5 when price will be less

Bye Bye G PRO 2

Hello my friends. The time has come for me to let the optimus G PRO 2 and try a new phone. I said that i won't buy LG anymore... because they gave a s**t kitkat update to my G .. and than after i bought the G Pro 2 they forgot about our device , and now it's "dead" in terms of development.
So i bought a Galaxy S5.
What i want to say.. for people who know.. we have a group on facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/lggpro2/
I will continue to support this group(moderate+add new users).
However it's time to pass the legacy to another optimus G PRO 2 user... so feel free to apply for admin function in the group.
The post model:
about how long you plan to keep the optimus G PRO 2:
member of the group: yes/no
I will choose the winner based on the reputation at my discretion.
Sad to see you go. You did a fantastic job with the Facebook page.
Welcome back to the new Pro 3 next year, anytime, buddy!
I may quit Pro 2 for a while to try Note 4 and come back to LG again for its Pro 3 next year, and hopefully with a Stylus!
I wait BB Passport to say Bye Bye G PRO 2, very sad...
Yep..it's sad. About Lg .. maybe if g pro 3 / g4 will be very popular.. i will re-join lg
I mean all i want from lg is a phone with latest android , nice ui and custom cm rom. For now.. i'm happy with my gs5.
- bad aspects to gs 5:
- No knock code
- i really hate the "sent sms notification" feature.. on lg is way better,
- no alarm unlock by puzzle
- i get 1.5 gb ram eaten from 1.75 (rest is for android) but i can't complain..(i mean the phone is really fast)
- good aspects to gs5:
- the screen is awesome (you can set it in4 ways.. and can get rid of some amoled ****, you get the chance to see the colors more natural)
- camera is great , even selfie camera is great
- i can use 128 gb sdcard
- battery is good
- check at the picture from atachments, exynos octa is really fast.
So.. let's hope we will meet again at g4/g pro 3. (if not .. than iphone 6+)
can you explain the "dead" part on your 1st post?
Yes i can. Look at software. I don't see a custom kernel for g pro 2. No cool apps ported. No impressive roms. Ugly user interface(compared to lg g3) . At least if g pro 2 would have g3 Ui. No updates. (i gave my g pro 2 to my little brother - he's a game addict ..so the g pro 2 is good for him) ..but i still had problems like random reboots when i connected the device to usb cable. If android 4.5 comes.. and than shortly 4.6 and than 4.7 .. lg might skip again like it did with 4.1 -4.4 while samsung and the competition updated their devices to 4.2 , 4.3 and than 4.4 . Now..this is something. Is you ask me..it's better to get 4.2 and 4.3 instead of waiting from 4.1 to 4.4 and when you get 4.4 you don't have half of 4.4 features. (this is what happened with my lg optimus g, before i bought g pro 2). After two weeks i sold the g with 200 $ . After i first booted up my s5.. i got like ~900 mb of updates for performance/ apps/etc. I liked that.
Now...about the facebook group...offer still stands. Let's see some requests.

Is this not a G3 based ROM?
No.
I don't get it, who cares you change a phone. maybe I don't know your important role in lg g pro 2 community's life but I think you won't miss too much. You are trolling the community only w/ this thread...

Nope. Not really. At least this wasn't my intention. And if i'm trolling..this ain't a true community. True community was when i had an optimus black / optimus g. There we used to say good bye from the rest when we moved on.

So what's the problem, mate?
The E3 has a fully grown up OS version. Probably will receive the 4.4 update, just like the dual-sim variant and it will be OK.
I don't understand all the hype surrounding the 5.0 version. Not even all the top-rangers from last year got the update.
They are still launching new models with Kit Kat on board.
Moving on from this point of view I've read a lot of threads regarding both official AND custom builds of 5.0 and in all these threads users are complaining about some serious memory management problems. Putting it clear the RAM management, at this moment, is worse on Lollipop than on Kit Kat. I have a friend with a LG G3, the version with 3GB RAM and after the update he also noticed that the memory management is worse.
So my true and sincere advice is to be happy with a fully optimized OS version than unhappy with a buggy-first-cycle-of-life version of the same OS which you will probably use just the same I have a SGS4, the I9505 version with Snapdragon 600 CPU which is scheduled to receive Lollipop but I'm not in a hurry to install it. Both the I9500 (Exynos) and I9506 (Snapdragon 800) variants of the SGS4 received it already and everyone reports lots of bugs. I'm not saying that Sony is above or bellow Sammy, but the OS is the same so the problems will be the same. And if you wonder what am I doing on this thread let me just say that I bought my father an E3 as a gift So I'm keeping a close eye on it :cyclops:
So don't worry and enjoy the phone because it's a perfect mid-ranger! Cheers and all the best :highfive:
Perfect mid-ranger with only 4GB of internal storage (whilst E4 comes with double that storage at 2/3 of the price of E3 + better front camera)? At least lollilop would solve the internal storage issue to some extend.

I dont,t think if we have ram problem lollypop will be usefull at all.as he told 3gig,s of ram had problem.
Storage is not an issue i have 7gigs of games on my sd with 1 gig free internel storage.
E4 is reallly lost everything from e3 e4 has super small datacable for charging. Fully crap.it,s like sony just reduced quality to make a low price phone. Even micromax had better phone than e4. And yellowness in display is worse thing. Just grab e3 instead of e4.
I reallly love sony for build quality. Which it lost in e4.
Don,t know why but i really think of samsung like micromax and other,s.

Excuse me, but can you name at least 5 apps or games that worked on 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and don't work anymore because of the OS update? And 4.0.4 is how old by now? I quote: "Release to manufacturing: October 19, 2011". Aham! That's like 4 years ago Think you going to keep the E3 for at least 4 years? In fact let me tell you that Xposed doesn't have a stable version on 5.0 yet. And that's a main reason for a lot of people not to upgrade to 5.0.

Every one have their own thinking Bro....all d best
So sad but is not the end!!
:crying: Guys, dont talk so fast!!!
Not necesarily we have bad luck.
Remember guys, there´s an AOSP development for mid and low range 2014 Xperia devices such as: E3, M2, T2 ultra, T3 and C3. That devices may receive lollipop through official or unofficial way after Z series.
I know you are going to say: AOSP is not a requirement for make a final and stable version. But, Why was the reason sony released an AOSP?
http://developer.sonymobile.com/kno...e/open-devices/list-of-devices-and-resources/
http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...ased-2014-xperia-devices-now-supported-video/
Even if is not lollipop for us, we can keep with kitkat, keeping on mind the highest KK stability compared with released 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 lollipop versions.
I know AOSP is bug filled, but some developers are working in that issues. Theres no CM12 stable version for Flamingo (E3) but @freexperia is working at least in LTE E3 devices.
Yesterday, Unofficial Xperia Blog reported some screenshots of Xperia C3 running something like lollipop in chinese market, but it may be fake
http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/0...enshots-emerge-could-it-be-landing-after-all/
And also, dont let intimidate by three or four tweets or android related blogs with the bad new. We should wait the official confirmation on Sony Xperia official blog.
BTW: if Sony really dont want update 2014 models and just update Z series and upcoming 2015 models, they will lose market quota. Sony is not good in the mobile market, forget the users and dont listen them can be a mistake for Kazuo Hirai´s company.
And here is the final comment: my next phone will be from motorola or another brand updateable, because Sony, LG, Samsung, Alcatel and others forgot low and mid range devices, thanks to the high fragmentation of the premise "Same but different"
People change its devices each two years, so, we never will get the latest version of android on any device, even if the device has infinite ram, processor and storage! Certainly the true is many people get/buy a low mid range instead a high and expensive flagship
We should support cyanogenmod or develop our android versions for stop programated obsolescence! Look, android versions rolling in the world: 2.3 4.0.X 4.1.X, 4.2.X 4.3.X 4.4X, 5.0.X. This is not fair for users!!! Android is doing bad, they should follow iOS example and keep updated even the legacy devices on all brands!!

Android O custom rom

Will there be any Android O custom rom for Nexus 5 because some people said that Android O might not support 32bit device. I actually consider to buy Nexus 5 since it cheaper than 5X. If Android O only support 64bit device I might get Nexus 5X.

I think it's better to save some more and get the Nexus 5X because Nexus 5 it's starting to become a legacy device
Why do people always jump on these developer previews and request them being ported to other devices? We're currently at the very first dev preview, this is not even a beta, and just about nothing is finalized right now.
We're going to see whether the Nexus 5 could be supported by third-party-ROMs when the source code for O drops. Until then, there's not really a point discussing it.
If you're looking for a cheap phone, I would consider getting a newer budget phone, like the Moto G5 /G5 Plus, or one of those cheaper Sony ones. You'll get better battery life, a much better camera and maybe even Android N/O, depending on the OEMs' willingness to update. Or just go with one of the Android One devices, if they're available in your market.
Unless you already own one, I don't see any benefit in getting a four-year-old phone.
If Google is testing Android Or for nexus 6, on got its code might be available. CNA we use it to port it to nexus 5??

If they would publish an official build for the n6 and with it sources, but since it is internal testing they most likely wont.
I've heard the update schedule for the Moto Z Play is promising Android O updates later down the line and the device has a 32-bit processor. Of course I believe that there's clever devs on here that could make something special happen

The Snapdragon 625 is not a 64-bit CPU. The phone itself does run a 32-bit ROM, however.
Now can it be built?

[Bounty] $100 reward for anyone who can cook 4.4.4 for Motorola MB502

I am offering a $100 reward to anyone who can cook a FULLY WORKING version of Cyanogenmod 11 for the Motorola MB502 (Charm).
It's a completely useless device on Eclair BUT meets Google's minimum hardware requirements for KitKat. I mean I ran KitKat on an LG Phoenix P505.
don't you think for that amount u can get a PIE 9.0 phone?

Absolutely. I have a bunch of phones already. But i want this one updated.
