Phone re-installing apps by itself? - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

So i noticed that my phone keeps installing the "Amazon" app as well as the T-Mobile "Sling" app. I go and uninstall them, then randomly they will reappear. I noticed this because i DID install the Amazon app from the Play Store but then noticed i had TWO (2) Amazon apps. After removing it and the Sling app they reappeared. Anyone having this problem? Thanks
-Auto Update Apps is turned off
-In settings, auto update is also turned off.

Yeah I'm having this same issue. Along with a couple others with wifi and my SD being ejected in an unsafe manner. I have my replacement coming in the mail already.

Yeah it sucks. I want them to stay uninstalled. I went ahead and turned off 3rd party apps so i'll see if that helps. I haven't had any other issues with the phone yet. My SD card is working fine, and i haven't noticed any issues with wifi. Only other random thing is that it rebooted once for no reason. Nothing else.

I cursed tmobile's Twitter personalities out about this the other day. They told me it was a pre-installed app that could only be disabled not uninstalled, then I proved them wrong twice. They finally said this must be a software error and informed me they opened a ticket with LG

The apps just reinstalled themselves again tonight

Yeah i noticed them on my device this morning. I wasn't sure how long they were there. Couldn't have been more that a day though. I literally just noticed the T-Mobile TV one which reminded me to check this trend. It is getting annoying.

that's pretty weird, I can't recall how but I went through settings and uninstalled/disabled everything I could and then hid it from the launcher. This made me go into my Apps in Settings just to make sure these guys didn't re-install themselves and I just blinded myself... but they stayed off my phone. Dk what to tell you :/

Go in the app store and turn off auto-update per app you dont want. Also uninstall any uodates.
Then go into Settings and Disable that app.

As already mentioned, auto update is already off. If they ever come back, i will try to disable instead of uninstalling.

Add me to this growing list of apps reinstalling. ?

Ok..its happened to my wifes phone (G5). Just looked at the apps I Disabled and theyre back..
Guess it just took a while for me to notice. Also because im using a V10 and dont look at her phone on a day to day basis.

So the apps haven't reappeared since I started staying off WiFi. I was noticing worse battery life and wakelock issues while on WiFi. I'm sitting with 17% in the tank and over 38 hours uptime and 4 hours SOT.

I'm always on wifi except when out and at work( no wifi there) and since last reported, they haven't reappeared yet. (knock on wood).

Battery drain from a non-running app?

Hi. Its been a few days since my Nexus 5 battery has been drained pretty fast. Lasts only about 4 hours after fully charged with little use. Since I recently started working in a really poor reception area I figured that was the problem, my phone constantly trying to find a signal, but when I go to the details, I see that Instagram is responsible for using up 40% and it wasnt even running!
Im no developer, or even experiencied android user, but, how is this possible?

Welcome to android and app permissions. It's accessing a number of things on your phone with location probably being the number one. Get something like xposed and app ops to tame what the app is allowed to access. You should also get gsam or BBS to get a closer look at what is using your batery.
This happened to me last night with a messaging app I used to replace hangouts. It dropped about 12% overnight with data and WiFi all off.
I looked in battery use and messaging sucked most if it up. I cleared data in the messaging app and that fixed it. Later today I switched back to hangouts until I download another messaging app. I don't trust that one now.

Thanks for your reply. I'm guessing I need root for Xposed and those other apps ? Like I said I'm just an ex iPhone user who just converted to Android. So haven't given myself the time to tweak around.

you dont need xposed. looks like instagram had a stuck process or was stuck syncing. a reboot usually fixes that. there are other ways to fix things, other than installing xposed(as xposed could bring in its own issues). there are many apps out there that help, greenify being one of them. also, there are a few great apps to help you stop wakelocks that are out of control.

[Q] Inactive YouTube drains a lot of battery

So of course I know YouTube uses a lot of battery when watching some video's, which I do a lot. This, however, isn't the problem I'm experiencing.
So lets say my phone is 100% charged and still on its charger, and I start watching a video or two. Then I close the app (still in multitask bar) and take it off the charger. I use my phone a bit, put it in my pocket and just forget about it. After a few minutes/hours battery has dropped almost 10% (depends on time). Checking battery stats shows YouTube using most of the battery, more than screen and other processes.
Here's a screenshot of today. Just normal battery usage, then i watched two 4 minute videos over WiFi, closed YouTube and put it away. Got about 10% drop in the following 30 minutes.

Clearing the YouTube app from recents does get rid of the problem, but it seems that this is something unusual, and I hoped someone had a more permanent solution.
My device is running on stock rom with Franco kernel v50 (Vomer settings), although I've had this problem with earlier versions of Franco kernel with other settings. Furthermore I'm using Xposed with App Settings, AppOpsXposed, Gravitybox and Unicon. Using custom DPI for whole system and certain apps (using App Settings). If I forgot some crucial information I'll hear it.
I hope someone can help.
Reboot the device and see if the problem continues. It probably just got hung up the one time.

from your screenshots, youtube doesnt look like your problem. it only used 18% of your battery thats already used, and only kept your phone awake for 2 and a half minutes. when you close an app in your app via the multitask bar, you arent actually closing the app(its the same as just backing out of the app). but google play services is taking much more battery than it should.
Greenify.
I had the same issue, but only happens sometimes. If you check FKU - CPU usage you'll notice sometimes it will be on four cores and as soon as you close it from recents it will revert back to two cores. Also happens on Instagram if im using it for a long time.
Rebooting won't fix anything, been having this problem for months now, just always cleared recents to avoid the drain. Plus its a consistent problem, i can predict it draining battery when i leave it open, and it stops draining when I remove it from recents. That's why I'm confused. I will try Greenify, and thanks for the tips everyone.
Still, I find it strange that, even though you say the drain can't be from YouTube, it's always YouTube causing the problem in the first place. And the thing about Google Play Services, mostly it's this high in the list. It reports 7m52s CPU and 43m11s Keep Awake right now (1hr after OP). Is this not good? What can I do to fix that?

Disable Services App going berserk...

Today I tried fiddling a bit with this app. It's all good but after disabling a couple services in the Gmail app and finding out that they were needed a few minutes later, it seems like whenever I try bring them back to their prior unfrozen state they just won't stick, and every time I open the app they appear to be unchecked again. I'd really love to keep using this app but I damn sure need Gmail so...any idea on why this might be happening?
Edit: the app keeps killing the processes as shown on the attached pic.

I also sent an email to the developer, looking forward to be able to use the app without issues if I manage, it solved all of my wakelock issues, then this happened...
Still nothing from the dev, in the meantime I switched to Inbox which doesn't seem to be affected, still hoping to fix this tho...

I used to have the same problem. It turned out that I was being too aggressive with disabling limes into Google Play Services. However if I restore them it simply sticks as it should in the app, so it's not a big deal. With Gmail however it's a whole different story, at least on my device/ROM layout. I could try a full wipe but ain't nobody got time for dat...
A factory reset didnt repair the service status. I am rethinking of using disable service , does it slow down the phone over time ?

I'm mot using it right now, but I moticed that after I unistalled it the processes I blocked within the app remained blocked. A few seconds before uninstalling I just enabled Gmail, and being the app removed it just sticked for once. So even tho it's quite a crooked way to do it I managed to have Gmail working and the app doing its job anyway, even if it's currently not installed. It is a shame that one has to do such dirty workarounds in order to make things work as they should without breaking functionality, but that's the "fix" I'm using at the moment. Still no word from the dev so I've kinda lost hope anyways.
^Controlling App startup in android is tricky and i use disable services for apps that dont listen to AppOps , BootManager . All GCMIntent and Analytics Service are disabled

I wonder how much of a difference all of our micro managing really makes. Sure some processes are pretty toxic but when running a very slim build like deodexed XtreStoLite there isn't really much left to kill...right now I'm just using Greenify after a fresh install and I seem to be getting pretty much the same battery life...
Inviato dal mio SM-G925K utilizzando Tapatalk
No work for greenify on a clean install . The apps and service pile up over time . For me its :-
1. Freezing /unfreeze for facebook,kindle,amazon,etc
2.Disable services
3.App Ops
4. If apps crashes because of service disable then add on greenify
5. App Ops Startup + bootmanager
Using Old version of some apps like airdroid.

Massive battery drain please help

I have been getting terrible battery life, Like i took a nap for 2 hours phone was at 50 percent when i went to sleep and at 25 when i woke up. I have been searching online to figure out why this is happening. I have tried the following.
factory reset
disable all sync location wifi bluetooth
disable diagnostics to samsung, google and t-mobile
using package disabler pro i disabled all the bloatware (over 100 apps)
i have noticed that my phone seems to be constantly uploading something. android os is taking a full gig of data in less than two days.. i cant figure out why or how to stop it.. what do i do. im barely getting 5 hours of battery.
Install a data monitoring app or firewall app and see which app is uploading all of the time.
Get rid of google photos. That stupid app churns in the background even when you disable auto sync.
Do run a data monitoring app as well.
I have also disables Google phot and Google Drive a long time ago, I have used a data monitor app, before my factory reset, the android os and os services were using a lot of data

I have problem with battery drain to. I only have my problem when I am connected to WiFi, if I disable WiFi it's fine. I have my S6 and IPhone 6S connected to the same WiFi without problem. Don't understand why it's like this. Tried switching between 2,4 and 5 ghz band but there is no difference. Just downloaded a data monitor app and it doesn't get any data in standby on WiFi.

Facebook app is known for draining the battery fast.
Guys this is Ridiculous what could possible causes os services to use so much data, I don't have any syncing or backing up turned on and my phone constantly stays in power save mode

My G930FD uploaded a whole 168MB file the day I bought it too, but battery life has stabilized for me from day 2 onwards. Try a factory reset maybe?
@dspain28
May be you device trying to auto update Android OS (to higher version)
So you need check that
Go [Setting] -> go [About device] -> go [Software update] -> uncheck both [Auto update] and [Wifi Only]
It will never update Android OS again
Or try this app

The C2DMHandlerThread wakelock

Ah, wakelocks, the eternal scourge of Android.
Seeing few bothersome on my Mate 9 Pro EU (LON-LC432B139), but the "C2DMHandlerThread"-one is always there, chugging away.

This is top of the list for me too. Using the same apps I've been using on recent phones. Only getting about 30% deep sleep because of this. Anyone else?
Googling the wakelock it seems its only Huawei devices?
My phone is MHA-L09C185B156
I just googled it :
So what is C2DM ? It is a server push mechanism provided by Google so that 3rd party applications can push messages to their applications on Android devices.
I saw that too, but the phone set up in exactly the same way as many other devices in the last year. So strange the only google results for C2DMHandlerThread that come up are for EMUI/Huawei. Getting rid of Whatsapp didn't work I'll try Telegram now (thought I have all notifications/active service etc turned off for Telegram)

In the past years there was no Android 7 nougat
Sorry i don't know what cause it but seems all push service is eating the battery.
I think sometimes if you enable the option to close apps when screen is off ,can have side effects.
Instead of improving the battery it drain more because lot of services are starting again.
That's true this is my first Nougat experience. Still strange that the only mention online is Huawei related. I'm getting bad standby here even with great signal I thought this might be the cause.
Any way to stop this service without closed?I'm rooted and this is the only wake lock that's driving me nuts
POSSIBLE FIX: Using disable service go to android system and disable "Push service"
not sure what the repercussions are, seems to be fixed.
Edit doesn't work, its a huawei service so ill keep it disabled.
Anyone figure out what was causing this? I've got a huawei P9 B386 with this wakelock chewing battery. Down from 40 hours battery to 12 because of it. Keeps my phone permanently awake.
