Fix bad usb a to type c cable - Nexus 6P Accessories

I have a usb a to type c, cable I bought in a store downstairs. CheckR says it is bad...
Can I simply fix this cable, by cutting in the middle, adding the pullup resistor, crossing whatever wires that needs to be crossed ext.?

OK, go ahead.
There might be a pullup resistor in the cable or plug molding, but it could be the wrong one. Or it could be missing. Or the CC wire could be improperly grounded. Or missing. Or some combo of the above.
Where downstairs?

Very informative! Could you tell was it the first street or the second?
On a more serious note: a high quality, spec compliant cable is less than $10 on Amazon. Why risk ruining the phone?

Because I am in Israel. Shipping is more money.
Anyway, I've already bought some cables from amazon, but since I have a bad one here I thought of fixing it. I am not going to risk ruining my phone over this - I hoping someone already done that and can just point me to how to do that.

[Q] 40 pin connector pinout and mating connector anyone?

I believe the 40 pin connector has everything we could use including HDMI, USB, charging, and probably more.
Does anyone know the pinout and the mating connector? I want to make an adapter that would make the HDelight WHDI transmitter work with the tablet directly without the dock. It needs power from USB, in addition to HDMI. I am guessing both are in the 40 pin connector.
BUMP
Since the TF101 has been out a while, so hoping someone has some info on this?

If you can make a bunch of Power Adapters for it...that's be great. I've been trying to find the 40pin connector for a while now.
I don't think people need HDMI out on the cable, b/c that's built-in in the form of a mini-HDMI cable. I think most people would want a way to hook up USB devices to it. A 40pin to USB hub (3-4 ports) would be really nice.
I think the power adapter for a reasonable price with a nice long cable would be an excellent start. 15V, 1.2A switching power supplies are cheap in China + wiring it up to the connector for $20-$25, I think you'd have no trouble selling those. As a bonus, if the adapter ALSO could take a 12V car adapter as input and not just 110-220V AC...well that's an easy sell right there!
Thanks!

Docking
Verkion,
I think using a USB car charger with the USB cable would work, wouldn't it? I haven't tried it though.
Anyway, if anyone gets hold of any info on the docking connector, pls let me know. I'll make it worth it!

Can you divulge your source for the connector?? I can make a GRIP of specialized cables connectors and docks. I'll post all tech info on comm from the 40 pin.
I have found a 40 pin connector but can't post a link as a new member. I think the offset between the two rows of pins is incorrect but may help with someone else finding the correct one. I'll contact the admin to see if I can post the link.
You may be able to find it from web 'alwaysinnovating' wiki/index.php/40-pin_connector

Here's the link you're trying to share:
http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/index.php/40-pin_connector
(note: I've done nothing to confirm whether this is the right connector or in any way related to it myself, I'm just sharing the link to save somebody else the hassle of googling.)
That 40 pin connector doesn't have +15V lines. Hence the electrical layout might be a bit different than what's listed.
Thanks for posting the link. As AnTrans said, there is a good chance the pin out assignment listed on that site is NOT what the Asus uses but may point towards finding the correct connector.

The important part is it looks like he found the connector itself, and it seems to be available from some major US distributors. The rest is a matter of reverse engineering

From the data sheet, also 2129261-1 will fit. The 3.3mm thick will fit into a receptacle that is 3.8mm thick. I think the pins are okay (might be wrong).
In *addition* to your choice, try this:
Mouser Part #: 571-2129261-1
Manufacturer Part #:
2129261-1
Manufacturer:

See the mfr's page here , particularly the "View Product Drawing" link. The dimensions of the plug are (excl. the latches) 18.5 x 3.1 x 7mm (7mm being the minimum start of the overmold). I don't have calipers on me right now, but the pins are on .3mm staggered centers, so the distance from an edge of pin 1 to the same edge of pin 40 is 11.7mm. I still think this looks like a winner.

Okay, I agree with you. I was wrong, looking at 3.8mm on the receptacle.
Both your part and my part are the correct outer dimensions. The differences only depend on what type of mount - board or cable.
Looking inside my ASUS cable with mag-glass the pins are staggered.

I have a ten footer in my vehicle that I use as a charger/data for my H/U. From time to time I will notice mp3's sound weird. If I switch to bluetooth they sound fine. SO yeah the longer the cable the more chance for goof ups. Rule of thumb the shortest distance in anything dealing with electric cables is better.
Just an opinion, but when I bricked mine I tried 3 stock cables at home to get into download mode and none recognized, but the blackberry "FireWire" (notice thickness vs the stock android one) was the only thing that worked.. and it is a tighter fit

Ah OK, cause I'm thinking of buying one too, and there's currently a 5% discount
The only thing that bothers me is to Sacrifice the micro USB poort. I don't like that but What can you do.......
So I bit the bullet and bought one and a charging pad. Let's hope they work!
And about the USB port, I thought you'd still be able to use it cause it seemed like it would still allow the cable to go through. Well in any case I only use the port to charge my phone, everything else is done via WiFi
Actually there are 2 questions:
Is it possible to put it under original cover?
Are camera, flash light and speaker OK with this?
ok, the adapter does fit for use inside the phone, although I had to file out the USB port entrance in the back cover. That being said, it won't charge properly due to the layer of foil inside the back cover I presume. It sits now between the phone's back cover an the external silicone cover. Wireless charging is go!
awesome cant wait to try this and build a charger in every table

Blu Pure XL Replaceable Parts? (USB Port)

Hello everyone, I've been looking for 2 days now on Parts for the Blu Pure XL (Gionee Elife E8) and I've came up with nothing...
I have a damaged USB Port and I know this cause I've tried every charger in my home and I've cracked it open to take a look and the prongs that connect it to the board are bent. If anyone could give me a source that sells Blu Pure XL parts that would be incredibly helpful!

Just my thought, but aren't microUSB ports just... microUSB ports? It's not like the ports on different devices differs physically from others. You can use any microUSB cable on any phone with a microUSB port, can't you?
As for replacement parts, I'm not an expert on electronics (perhaps you're more knowledgeable than me), but can't you just swap in any new female microUSB port (or maybe even a USB Type C port, if you have the knowledge and if it fits)?
I'm not sure how the microUSB port is hooked up since I don't have the guts to open up my own Pure XL, but can't you unsolder/cut off your old port and solder in a new one (provided you have the knowledge)?

MicroUSB ports are not just... MicroUSB ports, there are different types of pin variations (But all are 4 pins) to fit certain types of boards.
I never thought of actually replacing the USB Port. It might actually work, but I'm a little hesitant since I paid $350 for my phone.
Thank you for the reply back and I will try this. By the way, USB Type-C has 24 pins and a MicroUSB has 4; it's possible to use the USB-C, but Id only be able to charge my phone and it would take QC capability away from my phone. If anyone could direct me to the actual PCB Board with the USB and the Speakers for the Blu Pure XL that would be awesome! (Until then I guess this solution will have to do.)
Crude Solution, but works.
So what I did what get into my phone and remove the Non-Removable Battery, spliced an old microUSB cable and connected the Red & Black wires to the P+ & P- of the Lithium Ion Battery. Seems to charge the phone fast, bust remember to keep an eye on it and to not let it overheat... Here is a picture of the outcome: http://imgur.com/98Zolef

Having the same problem but for mine it seems like the metal connector on the outside protrudes whenever I plug a cable into the port... pretty loose by the looks of it.
Methinks I might see if BLU can fix it though.

They weren't able to fix it so they sent me a new Energy XL instead. Slightly inferior specs but battery is outstanding.
Also ported CM 12.1 rather easily to it. But yeah, you're either going to have to fix it yourself or get a replacement Energy XL (they might allow you to get a Pure XR as well, not sure.)
Not to dredge up a old thread; But I still need a charge board for my pure xl; I posted something months ago; and shelved the phone until recently; and I would love to find a source of parts for this.

Hate to bring up an old post but can anyone direct me to a "how to" on installing a new usb pcb? I've disassembled my phone and it seems the only solder point is the lower left hand portion.. I don't see any way of disconnecting otherwise. Ought I un-solder whatever it may be? or is there another method. Sorry btw.

I am asking (Allview) support in Europe but I don't hold much hope. Anyone else found these anywhere?
I bought mine in AliExpress but I think is out of stock. I found it as" Gionee s8 loud speaker "and the PCB from bluphoneparts

Cable Orientation and MTP

USB-C is supposed to work regardless of plug orientation, but It seems my phone will only connect for MTP with the cable oriented one way. The other orientation just charges. Same result testing with a different cable. I'm wondering if my phone has a defective port or Asus just ignored the USB-C specifications. Would anyone mind testing whether their phone can connect for MTP in both orientations?
mine works both ways without problems

Well darn. Looks like I'll be RMAing this phone a second time. Thanks for confirming!

You will RMA the phone for a cable problem you can solve, taking the risk to have a replacement with bad screen or something like that, strange.

It's not the cable. It's the port. As I said before, I tested with multiple cables.

You can always try cleaning the usb port.
Using compressed air to blow it clean
Then dropping some acetone (oil-free!) or chemically pure gasoline in a USB cable contact and inserting that in the phones port a couple of time.
The gasoline is of course explosive, be careful.
