Auto brightness bug. Try this fix. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello everyone.
I just created a modified version of services.jar to fix an dimming issue of S7 edge but need to be tested. For G935F APB9.
Replace file in this path: system\framework\
Try it and let me know if it works.
Don't forget to create a backup of services.jar. If it causes an bootloop, just replace the old file in TWRP.
Use at your own risk.

Seems to work okay. No immediate reboot, and none so far. Put maximum brightness on with auto and it stayed put....

Are you 100% sure it works? Try to flash with a flashlight to sensor and check if it goes brighter with disabled auto brightness option and at maximum brightness.

What does this fix again? What bug we talking about
Sent from my Blackberry Bold

I am going to answer the does this fix work question best I can here and carefully
Does this fix the brightness issue? Yes
Does this fix give the same screen as when out in the sun? No
This fix without a doubt makes the screen much brighter on full brightness
BUT
If you shine light on the sensor the screen will still get a little bit "brighter"
Now I say "brighter" because in my personal opinion I think it's not brightness, I think our phone is smarter than we think here and instead of just making the screen brighter in sunlight I think it adjusts contrast too to make better viewing in direct sunlight
So I think yes this fix works, much brighter in manual brightness set to full but it's not the same as viewed in direct sunlight as more than brightness is being adjusted

Is this fix also solved the problem when you are playing games? Now everytime when i play my game, the brightness is getting darker when you open the game. Package diabler pro fixed it, but when you root your phone the program not working anymore.

4.2 Camera, Photosphere working!

I found this post

and the new JB 4.2 camera is working on my gnexus. I thought I would give it a try on my note.
Everything is working nicely now, all the links are in the second post to download.
Found a new zip with everything working right with no need for edits to build. prop or anything. Just flash and you're ready to rock and roll!

yes.
But well "working" was overexagerated! quality Is horrible! i hope thats just because Its Not optimized for our camera yet.
well... the stiching process needs to improve!
And the normal panorama as well!
Yeah I've had issues like that with the stock panorama as well. Maybe adjust the speed and method of rotation having your body act as a tripod. Also try the gmscore. apk in the second post for viewing the photosphere, it will open it in a nice viewer.

okay, just flashed the v4 zip from the thread in first post!
panoram viewer works now. gotta test if it stiches better now ^^
well..... No!
still stiches horrible! a 5year old child could do better!
and for the normal Panorama... do NOT shake! you're supposed to keep the camera totally calm and stable. or else you can't take a useable panorama picture!
in that case it would be way more usefull to let the user shot themselve and not autoshot!
hmm, I'm not having many issues with the photosphere stitching, it seems to work pretty nice for me. Even at night at a concert I was able to make a nice picture of the area.
It is probably a sensor issue from like an accelerometer or something, not getting the right readings of angles and what not to match everything up right. I'm sure it won't be too long before it is set right for tablet use, the different size and shape would change the math a bit I'd imagine. Maybe we can get the version from the nexus 10 and see if that works better with the note 10.1
smaw51 said:
Got the photosphere working! It was just a simple fix in the build.prop changing the model from GT-N8013 to Galaxy Nexus
This got everything working right!
There is still one more thing needed to get the photosphere running right, gmscore.apk and that can be found at the source but takes some time so here is a link to it in my drop box, along with the zip with the carmera for the apk, move it to your system/app reboot into recovery to fix permissionss and then after you take a photosphere pic, hit the icon at the bottom to get to the viewer, it's pretty cool.

You don't need to worry about modding that anymore with the zip on the second post. But it is the file that holds the properties of your device, kind of like a config file or something of that nature. Others can go into more detail, or you can open yours up and look at what's inside.
It is in the /system folder
It worked well on my tab, and now i have 2 camera apps and two galleries (samsung stock and google)...i'm on 4.1.1 modded official rom by dr. Akrim.

Nice. I'd completed this mod myself when I got my s4 shortly after release, but never got around to testing it (did the same thing for my s2 back in the day). Got distracted trying to turn it into a vrtheme to make it compatible with 'all' version of camera (this way it replaces the resource files in apk and keeps that current version of camera installed). It's still just sitting in a couple of folders somewhere on my server....
(However, I think apk version means you should be able to push with adb without requiring root??)
I'm on a bell i9505 and it crashes on me after 3 seconds of use
Unfortunately I screwed up and my backup of my stock aPk was unsuccessful
Can someone please give me the stock aPk for the camera or tell me how I'd go about fixing my camera app

Couple of options...flash your rom again (extreme!) or just replace the modded apk with original apk. Some roms include updated camera software (not sure if there has been an update, but you never know) so best to get apk from the same rom version you are currently running
Also, need to make sure rom is deodexed (you could try deleting the associated odex file and see if crash stops)

(this works in my head...) You use a vrtheme (flashable zip) that replaces the ogg files (resources) in the apk with silent ogg files (vrtheme usually replaces the image resources so that you can change the look of apps such as what you see HERE)

oh... i did it manually by decompiling.. well... i cant see why it would make it compatible with other roms..
an example.
i hate the clock and alarm app in samsung.. but love the sony one... i cant install it on my samsung... so i need to port it.. but the thing you said there.. would not do the trick... there must be something else, an identifier of the phone or something.

[APP][MOD] Black One-Handed mode background

[Disclaimer: this is my first use of APKTOOL. So, this may be a bit buggy, and I'll state that up front. No bugs so far, but feedback is appreciated and will be used to tweak/fix it up.]
I noticed some other ROM had done this, but I couldn't find it. So I modified the EasyOneHand.apk to attempt to make it have a black background, to save power and save your eyes in a dark room. After all, black pixels use zero power on an OLED screen.
[As luck would have it, the chef of the X-NOTE rom responded and told me his ROM was the one that had it. Of course, I didn't see his response quickly enough and I had already gotten impatient and did it myself, so I thought I'd post it anyway. Credit to him for the inspiration for my learning...]
I have attached my mod as well as the original stock files (APK and ODEX) for replacement. I have added an Update.Zip for those who prefer to let the magic happen automatically. There is also a dark version - just be sure to rename it and overwrite the existing file to install it. The dark version intentionally has white edges so you can easily see where the screen border is.
Extract this to your /system/app folder, overwriting the existing one. Be sure to delete the corresponding ODEX file if it exists. Set the permissions to the same as the other files in the folder (chmod 644).
Let me know how it works for you!

But it didn't work!!! Did you reboot? You've gotta reboot, if you copy the file manually. Also, if using Update.Zip, it's best to clear cache/dalvik-cache.
Can I reuse or repackage this? Sure! Just give credit and send a link back to this thread.
How do I enable One Handed Mode? Look at the settings screenshots for details. You have to go to Settings -> Device -> One Handed Operation. Turn on "Use for All Screens." Then click the link at the bottom for the tutorial.
One handed mode is not working even after rebooting! Make sure you have all accesibility apps turned off.

Hi there! I tried to install this mod unsuccessfully by replacing the file as instructed, then tried to replace with the original files and didn't work either. tried to flash and nothing. So right now I lost the one handed operation. I´m kind of noob so I think I´m probably doing something wrong, or perhaps is a different version depending on the phone, I have a N900W8. If anyone could help me would be very appreciated.
EDIT:::
I found the solution by desactivating "any dash" app from accesibility. I think it has something to do with this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465085&highlight=one+hand+operation

Thanks Slappy! This works great! (although the update.zip failed to work via TWRP recovery. Have to manually replacing the apk)
Suggestions
1. Change the frame of the windows to deeper color as it's still white which wastes bit battery.
2. I don't know if this is feasible. Can the One Hand Mode stay after unlocking screen?
3. Can it also work for landscape mode?
Thanks again for your great great effort!
it seems like your apk is from a rom earlier than mj6 thats why it is not working with accessibility ON...so please please update it with a newer apk from mj6 or newer

I'm working on darkening it today. I have been working through quitting my job and finding another, so have been occupied as of late... I'm going to change it from #ffffff to #222222.
As to points 2 and 3, it is not something I have looked into, but I'll do some research. I believe that it is just the way it works (in other words, TouchWiz only calls the app when it is in portrait and it does not allow it to survive a lock/unlock.)

I have added a dark version, as per your request. I was actually thinking about this for some time myself. The X-Note ROM author made an all-black version, but I found it was hard to tell where the screen edges were, so I went with a dark gray and left the edges white so you can see them better.

Even I'm on stock rom, it worked for me.
Check whether you have entered the lines correctly and
you must have samsung music player to work.
That's it?

Could the lines be changed to work with after market music player?
Thanks anburajesh for the tip and script!
I can also confirm that this works on SM-G935V, stock Verizon (G935VVRU4BQK2), rooted.
Now if only I can get the Edge Lighting to work with notifications.....
OT (semi relatable)
But... any ideas how to get AppLock working for us?
there is a thrrad, but i ran into a stranggggee issue with it.
the csc mod did work... however, i lost adb and my mobile network...

I don't think it'll work on other music players.

any way to get it to work on non rooted phones ?
I'm running a S8-N8 port but I couldn't DISABLE it. I don't want this feature on my Note5. Any other ideas? The line is present (<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_MUSICPLAYER_SUPPORT_EDGE_LIGHT>TRUE</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_MUSICPLAYER_SUPPORT_EDGE_LIGHT>) but even after changing it to FALSE it is still working on the Samsung player. Any more ideas on how to disable it? Thanks! (It is not on the CSC file either)

EDGE LIGHTING
Hey there, need Edge like S8 in music player? Try this out!!
Just copy the below lines to system>etc>floating feature and change the permission to -rw-r--r--.
Reboot the device and enjoy!!
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_MUSICPLAYER_SUPPORT_EDGE_LIGHT>TRUE</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_MUSICPLAYER_SUPPORT_EDGE_LIGHT>
For people who don't wanna mess with the floating feature file. you can use mine. i have attached the file below .
you can simply download and paste in system>etc>,replace the existing one.
change the permission to -rw-r--r--
finally reboot !!
Take backup of floating feature file if needed.
WARNING: Changing the values incorrectly in floating feature file may lead to BOOT LOOP.
Working perfectly on S7 EDGE - G935FD stock firmware . please try on other models.
Please find the attachment below?
