How do I theme using Nova Launcher? Are there guides? (coming from iPhone!) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello all,
So I am coming from an iPhone. Back on android after 4-5 years. A lot has changed. I saw a lot of beautiful homescreens around and want to replicate those. But none of them have steps/settings/instructions.
I have Nova Launcher Prime installed and I know where to get Icon Packs. Can someone point me at any good resources/tutorials?
Cheers.

You can take a look at mycolorscreen for example. I'm personal using the launcher they published. It's called themer. You can find it on playstore.

You can't really 'theme' Nova Launcher, in that there isn't a button you press to apply themes. Everything is done manually.
You will probably need a combination of widgets, icon packs, and wallpaper to get the theme you want.
Nova Launcher is meant as a replacement launcher that is both simplistic and offering more options at the same time.

If your into themes, there are a lot of theme communities on Google+. Many of the themers including myself have been launching our themes to the Play Store. Mycolorscreen used to be popular, but its slowly dying and the site has been having tons of issues, not maintained from the looks of it. I would look at Google+, deviantart, behance, dribbble, etc. I always post instructions on the Play Store for my themes, it just varies from themer to themer on how detailed they want to be.
As far as apps go, Zooper widget is still popular for widget creation, but the new boy in town has been KLWP and KWGT, pronounced "Kustom Wallpaper" and "Kustom Widget". KLWP is a live wallpaper editor, essentially its a full theme creator with built in "one click" apply/backup. It allows for animations, formulas, touch input and much much more. The best part is that its a live wallpaper with low battery consumption that makes it super easy to setup themes without going through so much hassle of setting up everything. When it comes to theming nothing compares to KLWP out there right now. KWGT is KLWP's little brother which is focused on just widget creation but without the animation support since its not based on screens.
Nova is still the king of launchers in the enthusist area, since it sticks close to Googles design language but with tons of cool features.
I would say, go to the Play Store and find a themer's profile like mine or someone else, and click on one of their themes, and the Play Store will show similar apps on the Play Store which will give you a way to see themes similar to the one your selected. Zooper widget packs normally have zooper in the title of Play Store themes, same with KLWP and KWGT. So you can easily find themes by searching by those keywords. Google+....just search and you will find tons of people posting themes, tons of communities with FAQ and tutorial sections, so much help from other users and developers on there that its worth checking out.

Go to settings. Search themes. It will take you to a Samsung store with free themes. You can get many themes there thag will change settings... Keyboard... Messaging... Etc.. I personally like the material dark theme. You can search within the Samsung store.

Most of the teeming is done with widgets. The popular ones are UCCW and Zooper from the Play store. Once you have those installed you can search "zooper widget" or "uccw widget" and you will see different widgets for those apps.
There is a general Android Theme section on xda. There you will find all kinds of widgets and icons that aren't on the store. You can also browse other people's creations.

If you're into theme or fancy homescreen, try Buzz Launcher

I just tried that KWLP thing. I'm lost... lol...

KWLP takes some getting used to but there are plenty of tutorials to get you started.
Check out google+ communities. There are loads there specifically for themes, icons and widgets.

I was too at first. Watch some tuts on Youtube, its the best theming thing around right now. No point in using anything else really.
Try these tuts by Brandon Craft, great place to start. Gosh, I didn't have any video tuts when I got started, it was hard to learn:

Hi guys,
I once saw a screenshot floating around this forum where the user had set up their home screen to look like the icons were sitting on shelves in a room. There was a light bulb hanging from the ceiling, and it was pretty awesome--looked just like a room. Unfortunately, I can't find the screenshot anymore, so I was wondering if you guys could point out anything helpful I could use to recreate the look.
For reference, currently running CM7 with ADW.
Thanks!!!

Well if you can't find the screenshot or the thread it was in, it looks like you're on your own to re-create the wallpaper. It wasn't a theme but more or less someone with a wallpaper that fit perfectly with the grid of ADW's background. The best thing to do now would be to find a shelf picture and resize the picture until the shelves match up with the rows of the ADW launcher. It's pretty much a trial and error type deal.
id start off by making a wallpaper of just a grid. then applying it to ur phones background and take a screenie of that. use it as your point of reference when creating the shelf background.
There are some psd's I saw floating around with shelves built in them, but unfortunately I don't have the link. You could Google Just reveal android and you might find something there

If you search Google images, there are tons of wallpapers under android shelf wallpaper. No need to create your own on this one. You might try these two links, they looked interesting to me...

[Q] HTC One X and Theming

Hey everyone! So I switched from an iPhone 4 to the One X about 2 weeks ago and so far, the HTC is a beast! ALMOST no regrets switching (although the google play store lacks in certain areas). However, I'm pretty big on customization and my iPhone was jailbroken and all tricked out with different themes. So far, I haven't found the degree of customization that was available on the iPhone for the android. For instance, one big thing I noticed is that the notification bar on sense (or in general actually) is tightly integrated with the ROM, so you would have to make your own ROM to customize the notification bar, as opposed to changing images on the iPhone.
There are quite a few launchers available on the Android, which makes changing icons, docks, and lockscreens more centralized than on the iPhone which is a nice plus. So what do you like to do with your android? Do you hook it up with some themes, spice things up a bit, or keep it stock/vanilla? I'm thinking of developing themes, that's why I'd like to get your feedback.
You don't need to create a Rom to theme an android device most of the status bar icons are in the systemui apk you can use an app like 7 zip open the apk as an archive navigate to res drawable-hpdi folder you find all the battery, data WiFi icons in there find the icons you wish to replace them with size and name them appropriately and drag and drop new icons into the folder then push apk back to the phone. You could also try a Rom like miui aokp or cm9 which has tons of pre made themes available.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into that later. I have tried the CM9 mod as well as the MIUI one, however they still have certain features missing (Sense camera along with 4G LTE). I'm just wondering what launchers/lockscreen apps you guys use and whether you pay for them or not. I have a GO Locker theme on the market right now, but I'm still wondering if that's the most popular lockscreen. I'd appreciate people's opinions on theming, whether they look at the play.store for them or elsewhere.
You could look in MyColorScreen.com to have an idea of what can be done on android customization. You will find some great work that people have done to there phones and what apps they use as well as wallpapers and icon packs.
Your welcome and I use adw ex launcher. Widget locker and MiLocker for lockscreen replacements. If you click the AAA logo in my Sig I'm a cofounder of the group android augmentors anonymous there you will find some great screenshots as well as resources that members have have shared.

Ah thanks, that's really what I was looking for. I've tried ADW EX launcher and I really liked it, but right now I'm using GO Launcher just because it has a few more effects features than ADW. And man, so many screenshots in your group! Probably one of the best Android groups I've seen on deviantart!

Which Launcher for theming?

I have been using Go launcher happily for a while. Was going to buy it. I started getting into theming when I found the mycolorscreen site.
Many of the stuff I see on that site people use Nova Launcher. I am curious as to what makes it so much better for theming than go launcher?
I have read before about bloat in Go launcher, haven't noticed any issues with it though, I suppose that could change when I start slapping widgets on?
So my question mainly.
What's your preference for theming launcher?
Also, I'm using many apps that go 1:1 with Go launcher. Go locker. Go SMS. etc. Are there apps to replace these? I can assume I'll find bugs if I use them without go launcher.
Any other recommended apps good for theming?

Themer is probably the king of the launchers when it comes to theming. There is a whole forum dedicated to it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/themer and the app is available from here.
I don't think you will lose functionality of Go locker or Go SMS if you use a different launcher. A lot of people use Apex, Nova, and Holo launchers because they are also easy to theme, with icon packs and what not...but still nothing compares to themer when it comes to changing the look of your launcher.

Post your TSF Shell/Next Homescreens

Friends,
I love all android launchers especially that has some 3d effects to it. Suddenly i came across two beautiful launchers, TSF and Next.
Frankly, l love both the launchers and i have both installed on my S5.

Minimal colors icon pack app review

Minimal colours icon pack app
It is surprising to see the app title having minimal as you will find a lot of colourful icons inside the app. The color palette used in this app, you will not find them easily in any other icon pack app. The combination of the colors and design give all of them a unique look.
The app itself has been designed in a unique manner and the user interface is so simple that you won't find hard to use it at all. The app interface has been organized into tabs which is quite helpful with satisfying our needs. You can choose a dark or light background for the app itself according to your mood.
We should definitely talk about the shape of the icons. Yes. They are all in circular shapes which many of us would find attractive. They are of pixel style. And we have icons for almost all the commonly used apps and system apps like Video apps, Music apps, Chat apps, Shopping apps, MS office apps, Browser apps etc. The icons for all Google apps are quite innovative and pleasing.
So how to use these icons? Well. We have a large of launchers among which most of them would already be there in our smartphones. We have almost all the commonly used launchers like ADW, Action, Apex, Aviate, Go, Nova, Smart, Solo launcher and we can expect to get many more launchers added in the future. The app has the usual options like Search, Feedback etc.
The app also has a wallpaper sections which contains really unique and creative wallpapers you probably haven't got to use so far. Try it and you will be surprised for sure.
Ok all fine. Is it going to be getting still better? Yes. We can see frequent updates for the app which is creative and useful for us and we can hope for the same commitment from the developer in the long term.
