Disable camera shutter sound in Marshmallow - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guyz
i recently updated my moto g 3gen to marshmallow 6.0 but i don't know somehow there's no option to disable camera shutter sound in the given app. Wheareas in lollipop there was no such issues plus there i had an option to disable shutter sound.
Sound is really annoying.
Is this issue with me or every moto 3gen user is facing it ?
If not then please provide any solution on how to disable this sound.
Thanks
Nitesh

It must be yours because I have the sound option, I just checked and it works. It's the next to last setting on the bottom between the location and twist settings. Maybe try uninstalling any updates for the camera and updating it again.

Different regions have different options to disable the camera shutter sound, mainly due to local laws. If you can't disable your shutter sound, your country (or one that you region ROM also covers) probably made it illegal to disable the shutter sound, so Moto disabled it. I have seen several reports of this off and on since Marshmallow started rolling out. I know the US Retail version you can still disable the shutter sound, but I think one of the Asia variants you cannot anymore, possibly another one or two variants as well.
Assuming you have cleared data on the camera app and tried again, this is probably the case.

Rename camera.ogg

[Q] Low Microphone volume

Hello
I noticed my Moto G LTE microphone volume is pretty low in Whatsapp, Recording apps and in calls. Other devices are much louder and clear (I tested against the SGS2 and SGS3) anyone facing this problem too or is my device broken?
I found using the QCATest app that the DEAFULT MIC (one used for all the mentioned above) has vey low volume but none background noise, PRIMARY MIC on the other hand, has little background noise but much better volume. I guess it's a software issue regarding the background voice cancellation mechanism? can anyone confirm this?
Not a single comment?
Please let me know if you have this problem or not. I don't know If I should contact Motorola and get my device replaced.
Thanks
A friend of mine is reporting a similar problem on calls - callers claim they can't hear well. I'm trying to figure out what is going on.
Bump...
No one noticed the low volume compered to other phones?
Please post your feedback

If you have a scratch guard them try removing it.
If it's not the problem, contact Motorola.

I only have a tempered glass which doesn't cover the mic hole.
I tried contact Motorola via their forums, no luck yet. I can try to send the device for "repair" but the waiting time will be too long (I don't have official support from Motorola in my country) and with problems like this, they might just send the device back to me claiming there is no problem at all.
I already found few people with this problem too but not a straight answer on this.
If Cm11, try bass boost

If you're using CM11, try enabling bass boost in the DSP settings.

I'm using stock rom 4.4.4 no root
I guess I should replace my phone as no one is seems to be having this issue.
Edit: If someone can post a sample recording from a supposedly normal device for me to compare I would appreciate this very much. Thanks
Can anyone actually point a recording app that they using and works good with the Moto G (as you can put your phone in the desk and speak at normal level and being able to hear ok)?
No one have a word on this? Although I found that the volume in the camera recording is much better it's still very far behind basically any other phone.
I have the same problem only apps that works fine is when I'm recording on Vine, but Instagram, the Camera App, Snapchat all have very very low mic volumes

How to turn off the camera shutter sound?!? (NOT IN SETTINGS)

Hey, i want to turn off the camera shutter sound when you make a picture or a video but i dont have this option in my settings (cause its not allowed in my country). I have the unikernel and have root. I DONT WANT TO USE ANOTHER CAMERA APP!!! So i navigated to /system/media/audio/ui and i clicked every audio file and i deleted all the sounds that had to do with the camera app and now it doesnt make any sounds when i make a picture or a video ONLY WHEN I MAKE A SELFIE WITH THE FRONT CAM IT STILL MAKES THE SHUTTER SOUND, BUT THE SOUND ISNT IN THE DIRECTORY!!! I only have this problem on the frontside cam when i make a picture!! What can i do to remove the shutter sound for the front cam???
Im on 5.1.1 and i have the unikernel stock and i have a sm-g920f
have you tried CSC expert?. I think it has the option to turn it off. Its in the playstore.
Thank you very much!! i changed the value and deleted the app after reboot and its still in the menu this way i didnt need to change the others.xml file manually

Hi NZnewbie
FYI, I've successfully used CSC Expert for enabling the shutter sound menu option for my Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920I (Aust.) exactly as you have prescribed (Lollipop v5.1.1)
Many thanks.
Hi TheKingOfQueens
Thanks for asking the question.
I too changed the audio files believed to be obvious (via: /system/media/audio/ui )
Cam_Start.ogg
Cam_Stop.ogg
camera_click.ogg
Shutter.ogg
Shutter_multiple.ogg
VideoRecord.ogg
................by adding ".bak" file extension at the end and "******_" at the start of the file names.
I didn't delete them.
Immediately, the shutter sound for the REAR camera SEEMED to stop.....but on RARE occasions the shutter sound would occur.
Unfortunately, camera shutter sound for rear BURST SHOTS always happened and I can confirm the same for the FRONT CAMERA shutter sound (I was unaware of this one until you mentioned).
Weird........
CSC Expert is the way to go once and for all!
Many thanks.
The developer deserves a medal or some recognition to encourage him to hopefully continue his good work.
Regardless, I would be interested to know WHY the camera was still making the the numerous shutter sounds even after the renaming of the audio files (pre-implementing CSC Expert).
You know you could just put your phone on silent right?

Sure and funny enough I discusssed it today with a friend but the "Shutter sound" camera menu option only mutes camera sounds whilst providing full "alert" audio for everything else.
"Volume down" also achieves this but taking photos of recent neighbourhood events would make this a chore.
Shame I didn't know about this CSC fix earleir.

Which country firmwares come with shutter sound control, does yours have it? [Exynos]

I've acquired a GS7 recently from the UK and noticed the camera shutter option was not available, which is usually enforced by laws of the country in which the mobile is sold.
But because this isn't an European law (as far as I could find) and I am not from or in the UK, I was wondering which country specific firmwares come with the camera shutter sound available.
I am asking this because as long as the phone model is the same and the firmware is official and untouched, we can odin' it without triggering Knox, so I am trying to find a firmware from a country that allows shutter sound control by default. The alternative I have been using is tasker with mute system sounds when camera is open, but I would prefer to have this behavior native in the stock camera itself, but so far I have not had any luck finding exactly which firmwares come with the shutter sound option.
If you know which country firmwares have that option available please let us know, or if you don't know but your phone does have that option enabled please let us know in which country your phone was purchased from, or its origin.
Not sure which firmware but you can disable the sound simply by lowering system volume.

Camera Shutter Sounds

Hi guys, I have the Mi5s Plus and updated it to the MIUI Global 8.5.2.0 version recently.
While it never used to do this, but since updating it, I can't turn my camera shutter sounds off. There used to be an option in the camera menu, but it has disappeared. The camera shutter sound is now overly loud and obnoxious. Is there any way to turn it off? I thought about flashing the rom and installing MIUI 9 but as I am not familiar with that process, I rather not. Especially as I don't know if it will solve the issue or not.
I´m running miui 9 and there is an option to mute shutter sound..
I believe you are using Android 7.0 Nougat right? If you use MIUI Global Rom using Android 7.0, you need to change your locale into different country, not South Korea, for muting camera shutter sound. Due to Android 7.0 Nougat's characteristics, if your locale is set as South Korea, you cannot mute your camera shutter sound due to South Korean regulation & law. Please select U.S. or another countries.
