My Moto Turbo went unresponsive sometime back after getting discharged. It never switched ON after i kept it in charging. After a couple of days of hoping it would come back to life i finally took it to Motorola authorized service center (IRLA, Vila Parle, Mumbai). My phone was well within warranty as it was bought in June 2015 but after making me run around to the service station and wait for one and a half hours i was given the shocking news that the phone cannot be treated under warranty as there are signs of liquid damage!!! Since i was 110% sure my phone wasn't exposed to any water drenching or water spilling leave alone submersion i argued with them that it's not possible. Upon listening to my argument the service center head called me to his office cabin and tried to show and explain me the issue. There were white residual marks near the ear piece and camera area inside the phone on the motherboard which were evidence of liquid damage but the only possibility for same was sweat. Now the company claims that the device is water resistant / splash proof and then when something like this happens they say they can't touch it! This is such bull @#&* on the company's part. A mail with snaps of the affected area to the service center area manager and lenovo manager showed zero support and arrogance. Further a call to Motorola customer care showed same or more negligence. I request the XDA community to help me raise this issue with the company and help me out over here.

The pics aren't super clear but it does look like there has been quite a bit of moisture in the phone, and that is likely what caused the damage. Maybe try disconnecting the battery, cleaning the PCB with alcohol and then reconnecting the battery. I doubt you will win a battle for a warranty claim.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion. Will try and do that and see.

That's very unfortunate to hear. Another possibility was if you shower with the phone in the bathroom. The hot moisture/humidity really takes a toll on the phone over a period of time, nearly identical to that of wetting a phone.
Anyhow, the reason why I'm saying this is because some people including myself have experienced that before. I'm sharing this with you just in case you also do that so you do not damage any future product you may have. Best of luck.

Placing it in the freezer then out in the hot does this too. However the water should be relatively distilled. The dirt and oils that has already made it's way in there will bring the electrolytes out.

First sorry for my late reply. Busy in Exams . Actually i repair mobiles. By seeing the image where the moisture is taken on that part is related to the sensors area so at first investigation i didn't think that there is any issue with that. As u think that it cant be made functional i think i will just get a chance to try if it gets repaires it will be gain for u.

My Galaxy S II Exploded in the cold!!!

A couple weeks ago, I noticed my Galaxy S II wasn't syncing up with the charger properly - It would disconnect in odd successions for no reason unless I had the phone positioned JUST right. Figuring I'd take it into AT&T when I had a day off work I took to just charging it in my car. (Easier to position the phone at the proper angle for charger to sync)
One cold evening (upper 30's) I left my phone in the car for a few hours - and returned to find my phone screen full of splinters and cracks. - - When turning on the phone, the screen is black and the touch sensitive buttons are completely unresponsive.
However, The power & volume buttons do work. (I can hear incoming emails/texts) so the phone is receiving data - but I can't answer calls, etc.
I am now back & forthing w/ Samsung in order to get a replacement - I feel like this shouldn't be something I even have to fight for. - - What are your thoughts?
Tell them when it exploded, you were personally injured. Fear of Law Suit will do wonders to your case.
I had the same issue with my wall charger last week. I had to keep the phone in upright position to get it to charge. Fortunately, I threw tht charger and got a new USB cable.
Its charging well now.
I cant even claim warrenty as I got this phone off craigslist.
My thoughts??? Leaving 800$ phone in freezing temperatures for a few hours is F***in DUMB!!! You serious man? Samsung will not give you a replacement. This is as stupid as saying i decided to go white water rafting with the phone in my pocket.

Is it stated anywhere in the user manual (probably in the warnings/safety part of it) to not leave the phone in the cold for extended periods of time, or anything of the like? If so, I'd say it's a no go for a warranty, but if not, could tell them that there was no statement that the phone could not handle colder temperatures.
Ehh, my phone has survived a few nights in the 30's, my Thunderbolt. I'd at least give the folks a call and see what they can do - I do believe most normal phones can survive something as minor as those temperatures.

Polish Pat, are YOU serious? You're comparing exposure to cold weather to exposure to water. You're making a statement like that, and you're calling another forum member dumb and stupid? The next time you go snow skiing when it's below freezing, maybe you should shove your skyrocket up your...ascot...so it doesn't get cold. If Samsung can't make a phone to survive a few hours of cold weather, then they shouldn't be in the business. But that's not the case. It was a defective or previously damaged phone, plain and simple.
Instead of bashing other people coming on this forum looking to share experiences and find some answers, you could try to be a little more helpful. Just sayin'...

The upper 30s is not cold it is not even bellow freezing.
Now -30 sure that is cold

Actually, you kinda are. You're getting angry at a guy who didn't do anything to you. And what he did with his phone isn't out of line. His screen should not have cracked for any reason other than breaking it by force. You're overreacting. Maybe you shouldn't have a phone this expensive if the idea of someone else "abusing" theirs is too much for you.

hey buddy, there is a difference between having a phone in a car where its freezing and a phone in a coat that DESIGNED TO SHIELD YOU FROM THE COLD!!! And yes this is dumb to leave a phone in the cold, in case you dont inderstand the mechanics of an lcd screen, the liquid does not support the expansion of heat or the compression of cold. Take it or leave it but YOU DONT LEAVE THE PHONE IN THE COLD FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME

There is no REQUIREMENT to be a consumer of this product. I dont believe that an average Joe (consumer) would understand the mechanics of a lcd screen nor it is required.
With that being said, there is no need for name calling as you did. It is human to make mistakes and forget things regardless of how knowledgable you are.

**** like this will NEVER happen to me and my respect for 800$ phones! Yes, i was harsh, but its because of cases like this, LEGIT people with flawed screen are passed in the same category as variable damaged phones.
The point is, YOU DONT LEAVE you phone in the cold, its not designed for it, it MIGHT survive in some cases, and not in others. But responsiblity has to be taken for a person who "forgets" his phone in cold weather, juts like it has to be taken for those who drop it in water. It's not the same thing, but the outcome is the same, need for repair, for an outside policy case
Manual says 0°C to 45°C. Upper 30s is in range.

I understand what your trying to say but don't use assumption to make your argument.
You dont know that this kind of problem will get passed as the same category. Are you really that familar with policies and procedures of Samsung electronics? or are you just assuming that it will get passed on as the same category as lets say the people with lines and blobs problem? Even if it is a true case, people will always and will ALWAYS will try to plead their case in trying to avoid paying for a brand new phone and abuse their warranty policies. And there is nothing we can do about it. (Not saying this guy is.)
As far as leaving the phone in his car goes, let's leave it up to the professionals of samsung and see if he actually does get his new phone with his kind of damage. It is up to them whether or not they want to replace it for him. Plain and simple. Not up to us.

Sounds like a perfectly good claim to me then. The device didn't operate according to its specifications and malfunctioned. Not a user-end problem. Yeah, he left it in the cold, but it should NOT have malfunctioned like it did, according to their set specifications for operating temperatures.
Really bud? Think about what you said, a blob or a line is a manufacturer flaw. A cracked screen is not, its physical damage. Leave your phone on the counter for thousands of years, it will never crack. Leave it in your car when its cold, it will. All manufacturers have the same policy, USER CAUSED ISSUES are not covered in any standard warranty except for the Asus Accidental Damage warranty, which to my knowledge is only valid on laptops.
Here is the part from samsung warranty policy about whats NOT covered:
What is Not Covered? This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon proper use of Product by Purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not cover: (a) defects or damage resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress, or modification of any part of Product, including antenna, or cosmetic damage; (b) equipment that has the serial number removed or made illegible; (c) any plastic surfaces or other externally exposed parts that are scratched or damaged due to normal use; (d) malfunctions resulting from the use of Product in conjunction with accessories, products, or ancillary/peripheral equipment not furnished or approved by SAMSUNG; (e) defects or damage from improper testing, operation, maintenance, installation, or adjustment; (f) installation, maintenance, and service of Product, or (g) Product used or purchased outside the United States or Canada.
So i can GUARANTEE this specific problem with OP is not covered.

good luck trying to prove your phone was 3 degree above rated operation temperature...to them, it was on a bath of liquid nitrogen.

Phone Not Turning On - ATT LG G3

I have the LG G3 and was using it no problem today and was sending messages on whatsapp.. I left my room and returned about 5 minutes later and my phone was not turning on. I troubleshooted it myself by removing the battery and leaving it out compltely to reset itself. Did it multiple times but the phone just wasnt responding. Also the phon was not hot or overheating.
I went to the ATT device help center to get it checked out and they told me the water sticker was activated on it. That pissed me off completely because my phone has never been in contact with water. I know people will say it never did but i seriously havent had it fall anywhere or have water spilled on it. How does something like this change color?
My phone does overheat from time to time but im not sure if that alone would cause moisture to make the sticker change colors.
I am so frustrated cause ive had the phone for 5-6 weeks and replaced the bodyguards screen protector once already and im not in the mood to shell out another 200 to insurance plus the bodyguards tempered glass screen protector.
Can overheating cause the sticker to change colors?

Very odd. Overheating alone shouldn't cause such. But your daily activities may, based on do you do alot or any activity where humidity could build up within your pocket, purse or whatnot, where you store your device? Neither of those should cause it, either, but technically might? Definitely makes little to no sense. Also, are you certain that nobody else could have gotten it wet when you weren't around? Not trying to question your intelligence, but kids these days and/or anyone, for that matter... Probably have not helped much, but your situation is one of the more odd that I've seen, based on the facts you've provided...

Maybe humidity cause I was in greece on vacation and it was really hot. My phone even shut off cause it overheated. Im trying to remember if water was spilled on it but I cant even recall it happening.
I have a case 2 layers from reaching the back of the phone but then again that could mean little to nothing. I called LG themselves and im shipping my phone to them. He told me the LDI is on the battery and on the top corner by the camera. The battery is white but the one in the upper corner is orange. They will look into the phone to see if it is actual water damage and if it is, ill just see what they will charge to repair it. If its not worth it ill just have it sent back to me and figure from there.
Ive read online that the LDI(all phones) does get tripped very easily which i find to be really retarded if true.

So I sent it to LG and I just received it back at no charge... It says they replaced the flash memory and nothing about water damage and now my sticker is white again.. I'm glad I i was right that the water damage was bs

z3 water damage

ive read a lot about people having the same problem as i am, but no solution in my search....
soooo my phone fell into a sink of tap water for 10 secs,
i never open my ports since magnetic charging is pretty cool,
water completely ruined the screen (texting and calls still work thanks to my moto 360)
tmo says water damage is "not covered by warranty since there is water damage" even if it was sold to me as waterproof
sony says i can send it in to be evaluated but "it'll probably be a user failure if water is found in the device even if the ports were all closed"
i dont know what to do about this situation...
and my google searches arent helping :/
id hate to pay the insurance but all signs look to point in that direction...
Man if this stuff keeps happening I can see a Class Action Lawsuit coming. This is inexcusable...

Same thing happened to me.. Went to T-Mobile, they looked at me like I was stupid and said there's nothing they could do. So I called Sony, they said they'd put it in a machine and test the waterproofing.
Send it in last week, still waiting to hear back. Rep on the phone said there's a 14 day turn-around.. Probably more at this time of the year. though.

i also did the barometer test when i got it, 3 days later, it fell in my soapy dishes and it was fine! i dont know why this time water leaked in
but sony has also taken my phone as with xxquicksh0txx and its going through the same thing
the catch here is they "dont replace the phone, only parts" so if there is something that cant be replaced it has to be returned to me and i have to pay the insurance
I have the same problem. I used the device in a pool and after 15 minutes the device screen went black. The touch screen still works, I see that there is movement with the unit but the screen does not show anything. In contact with assistance from Sony they asked me to send the device for a technical assistance shop. Here in Brazil said it takes up to 12 days to resolve the problem, unfortunately they only exchange defective parts.
I suppose yours is defective, technically if it happened despite all ports being closed.
Hello everyone!!! Happy new year!! I have the same problem with my phone. I wanted to take a picture underwater with my friends and the screen went black. I have submerged the phone before, but never took a picture. So I'm thinking that the seal at the camera button is the one that is faulty. Because te phone was good until I pressed the button. And every person that have had issues with the "waterproof" feature of this phone always say they have the flaps closed, and the vast majority of the problems happen after taking pictures underwater. Maybe if we all gather together we can make sony change our defective units.
I would, I just don't think we have enough water damaged phones to create a change
i got the exact same problem.
my screen is black and i can't see anything but the camera still works, i can launch it with the button and can take pics even with flash.
Maybe if we create a thread where people can post they have had problems with a Z3 not being waterproof, and asking people from different android related pages. We can do something. I think having more than 1 is enough to say this is a problem with the phone.

Let us know how the phone goes when you receive it. Maybe water "resistance" should have been the marketing gimmick. :good:
Finally received the phone back today. There was a list of things they replaced, which I'll post later when I get home from work.
Everything looks good aside from a few things.
Some glue residue that it more visible between the screen and the housing, it's not bad and isn't very noticeable unless you're looking for it.
Looks like there's something at the bottom of the screen, I'm hoping it's some type of glue that isn't set yet and will eventually go away... If not I'll have to send it back again.
I will however be giving it a bath later tonight to be sure the waterproofing has been fixed.

Busted Screen...Design flaw?

Well when I first got my idol 3 on May 23rd the first thing I did before turning it on was to install a cheap plastic screen protector. I then turned it on, played with it and poured over the outside of the phone. Build seemed good. The only area I genuinely disliked was the design choice laying the glass screen on TOP of the frame/bezels. It looks nice but I thought at the time, 'makes me worry about dropping it, even with a case'. I always use TPU cases with no problems and installed it on the idol. Today my screen shattered. I did not drop the phone (haven't dropped it once in the 3+ weeks I've owned it). I did not bump into anything. The phone was in my side pocket of my work pants (not 'skinny' jeans I wear loose pants/jeans. Side rant: no disrespect to the hipsters but skinny jeans are not in my vocabulary, I don't know anyone that looks good in them ) while I drove from work around the corner to Wegmans (grocery store). Got in the store and pulled out my phone only to see a shattered screen. I thought it was my tempered screen protector ( I put that on a few days after getting the phone once they were in stock) until I noticed I couldn't use the bottom 2/3 of the touchscreen. Digitizer was shot. Ugh. Looking back the only point I can think of where any pressure was applied to the screen would be when I got out of the car and my pants probably tightened when pivoting off the seat. Seriously. That's it. I must have done the same thing 2 dozen times as I almost always go to Wegmans after work and since it's so close I leave the phone in my pocket (loose pockets!!). Afterwards while driving home I always put the phone in it's holster on the dash. I got home and pulled the tempered glass off (incidentally the glass protector is fine..) and took a closer look. Remember "Bendgate" with the 6-plus? Yeah my phone is also ever so slightly bent as well. I baby the hell out of my phone, not a scratch or nick anywhere on the body. I'm so disappointed. I absolutely love this phone and yesterday I would rate alcatel/the phone a 4.5 out of 5 for a stellar product with few issues (obv. the pervasive DT2W issue). But after today I strongly believe they messed up their design by putting the glass on top of the frame and not embedded within the bezels like almost every other phone out there. I'm preparing my email to alcatel now in hopes I get something from them but I know they have no reason to believe my story as to how this happened. I don't believe my actions were a result of misuse by any means as I've owned plenty of smartphones without ever breaking one. I don't expect anything from Alcatel but I seriously hope their next iteration of this phone will be better protected. I'm creating this thread as a warning to all the other owners out there that you need to be very careful handling this phone, If a simple motion such as this can result in a broken screen then I'm sure that a drop will be just as bad even with a tempered glass protector. So everyone PLEASE be careful! Personally I am distrustful of the device's build quality now and will hang on to this until I can buy a replacement screen/digitizer and attempt to replace it myself ( a review on Amazon a few days ago mentioned that screen replacement costs $150, almost the price I paid for the thing) though I will wait to hear back from Alcatel. I'll try to upload a couple pics of the phone, but really all you'll see is an otherwise pristine phone with a broken screen and the leftover residue from my tempered protector (now removed). Ugh, this sucks

My screen broke while in my pocket from minimal to barely moderate pressure and is also now bent, ala #Bendgate. WTF
I can't believe this phone broke that easy, it was either a defective phone or its just fragile. I'm really thinking of returning this phone since it has so many things to it.

I hope it was just a dud for everyone else's sake, problem is I don't expect Alcatel to replace it under warranty and I'm not willing to spend 75% of what I paid for it on a new screen. THe other issues are minor to me personally, with DT2W being the biggest annoyance. I barely get any lag with animations on top speed and nova launcher and I'm satisfied with the camera for the price point. My previous phone, the HTC One m7 was great until it got the lollipop 5.02 update and then lagged like crazy so I truly believe performance issues will be resolved with an update/root. I'm really devastated this broke so easily as the screen size/front speakers were exactly what I wanted in a phone, not to mention the great battery life I get vs. old phone.

I seriously considered the opo but for me band support was paramount. I wonder if a hard case would be better for this phone, I know they're harder on the body but would presumably give a bit more structure for the phone. OT, I finally have a use for the reversible feature as it allows me to type on the phone and open most apps flipping the thing upside down over and over :/
Hopefully its not a defect to all phones. I only have till Monday to figure out if I want to return it

Have you approached Alcatel to see if they will replace the device/display under warranty? Clearly you did not do anything out of the ordinary - drop it to knock it against something - so they *should* replace it, and if not, you should be able to take it up with your credit card company. I feel sorry for your situation. I got my phone for $200, have no problems except the lag ( and more recently more frequent d2w issues ) - and I am waiting for something like you to happen to me. At that time I will have to take it up with Alcatel , because I certainly want to keep the device, for its bright screen and loud speakers alone, for the $200 I paid.
Electronics are not flawless articles - but my suggestion would be give Alcatel support a chance. This will also tell all of us, how good their support really is. Abt 4 years back, I was one of the lucky ones that got in on the $99 HP Touchpad sweepstakes - and right after I got it, the display panel started malfunctioning. So I took it up with HP and they sent me a prepaid box - and had me ship the tablet back to them - and returned it to me after replacing the display. Since that day, that device has been a workhorse for me - Best $90 I ever spent on a piece of electronics. So my point is - sometimes - your immediate experience will be negative - but it is worth give it another chance. And these days, usually your CC company will come to your rescue in such matters.
Oh absolutely. I guess I wasn't very clear about that but I'm retelling my story with them. I certainly hope they do something about it, I just have my doubts.I'll have to read through the terms on my credit card, can't remember if I used Amex or Discover for it.. but I thought you just got an extended warranty through them, no?
Ok I sent out my lengthy email to Alcatel just now, so I'll update this thread when I hear back from them. Also I looked into my purchase and I did use Discover which includes 90-days device coverage including broken screens so I'm covered in case Alcatel doesn't come through. Thanks stl1859, I would not have remembered that if you didn't mention it.

many of todays phones has this 2.5D corners, so bad luck...it happens. I got ZTE V5, felt many times so i bought screen protector shield (plastic, not foil) and rugged back cover...anyway felt from 50cm to the ceramic tiles and got broken screen..it happens ...**** happens. Hope you will get osme satisfactory. And minimal to barely moderate pressure, really? Do you think that his would someone believe?

I know it's hard to believe, I have a hard time believing it. Which is precisely why I posted about this. And yes it was minimal to moderate pressure. I did not drop the device, it was in my pocket and I didn't bump into anything. The only pressure exerted was from my pants as I shifted to the left to get out of the car. I've certainly been fortunate over the years to have never broken a screen; I've dropped my previous phones a handful of times, even rolled over one while it was in my pocket. If any of those things would have happened and resulted in a broken screen/bent phone I wouldn't be posting here.. I expect that outcome in those situations. Also no I don't expect Alcatel to believe me, which is why I was so worried about spending my money on a device only to have it fail in this manner. Thankfully due to the suggestion of another member I will be covered thanks to my CC company.
You are still going to try getting a replacement from Alcatel, right ? I am really interested in knowing how efficient they are in handling repair/exchanges.

Yes, I'm currently waiting on them. Since I submitted the support email going into the weekend I'm giving them through Monday to reply before I start calling them.
Well, As expected.. BTW the phone number listed is not valid. Had to initiate claims online at alcatel.finetw.com Customer care didn't care (haha) how the phone broke, though I wouldn't expect them to. I'll include a copy of my original email with the phone so that hopefully the tech at least takes a look at the strength of the phone.

First, that is a pathetic response. With that kind of attitude, they are not going to gain many customers. Second, I don't think that is a valid statement at all. Defects can cause 'physical damage'. It is a piece of electronics after all . If they are not covering 'physical damage' - what are they covering - emotional damage !!!
They probably meant physical *abuse* - which in your case - there was none. So I do not think they have grounds to decline warranty. It appears that they are simply assuming there was 'physical abuse' . Let me ask you - did you explain the incident - to the level of detail that you did over here ? ( meaning how it was in your pant's pocket - and how there might have been some pressure when you tried to get out of your vehicle , etc etc. ) - Or did you simply tell them that you discovered the screen to be shattered one fine day when you took it out of your pocket ?
Are you still engaging with them, or are you going to go to your CC company now ? I am disappointed with their support. Clearly, the only way they can sell anything if they keep pricing their products dirt cheap. Even then, I would think twice before buying from them.
I'm just thinking that this is going to be my last Alcatel product if I even decide to keep it. This support is pretty bad.

I keep mine in jeans, including skinny jeans and don't have these issues. It doesn't have much give so I have to position it in the pocket with the least pressure points. I would expect screen separation before screen cracking since it is plastic. I have had issue when its hot the double tap to wake will turn on the lock screen and dial contacts if the pocket is big enough for it to move around. So far I am impressed with dragontrail being less prone to fingerprints, but I do everything to avoid scratches and cracks short of a screen protector so take that into consideration.
i dont think any brand will buy your story even if its true. any physical dmg will become a user end fault no matter which product you purchase since theres no way to prove its their manufacturing fault when its physical defect and the end user is using it.

This is really the crux of it. And why I said I did not expect them to do anything. The only way to uncover a design flaw IMO is if this starts happening a lot (like bendgate.. well maybe not a lot in that case but some people showing on video how easily it bent). Also yes I went into great detail about the when/where/how the device broke. I also included the details with the phone, imploring the tech to at least look at the device to determine if there's a structural weak point or something. Sorry I took so long to reply, I've been getting my backup device (LG Leon.. ok phone for price but slooooow) setup and haven't been to the site in a few days.

Yeah I'm going through the CC company now. Interestingly I had to pay $40 to send the device back listing the screen as broken, so maybe (knock on wood) it won't be as expensive after all

S8+ Display issues reported to Samsung but they seem to be playing games

In May I bought a S8+ for Indian Rupees 64999 and in less than 8 weeks all of a sudden the screen started flickering when kept on charge. I handed over the phone to the service center in Mumbai, India. I asked for a replacement handset and they said they will repair it for free and give me an additional 12 months added warranty. After spending ten days with my phone and back and forth over calls, this is the response received from Samsung customer care:
What I fail to understand is that - Not once has my phone even touched water than how are they saying "water log" can someone who knows more on this please help, I am going to challenge this legally and need help, please advise.

There is something called a liquid damage indicator in the SIM compartment, it's similar to litmus paper that indicates the presence of acid or an alkali by changing colour. In this instance the LDI determines whether a liquid (water) has entered the device.
It may well be that the water was introduced at the service centre, but without a before and after shot taken whilst you were at the service centre, this would be nigh on impossible to prove. Good luck with your legal challenge.
Screen flickering is also indicative of water damage.

But I have been extra cautious with the phone, especially when the price tag is a over US$1000 for which I am asked to shell out US$400 now, I am wondering how can water enter without me exposing it to water?

I'm not too sure whether humidity can cause this? Maybe a prolonged spell in the bathroom ? I have seen some posts alluding to the same situation as yours, on this and other device forums.
Maybe the thing to do, is to search for this topic and then reach out to those complainants to see how or if their issue was resolved.

Thanks once again for spending time and reverting back, I am not sure if humidity would be a factor, cause than - what would the effect be on non water resistant phones, just a thought. Also like I said I have not let water touch the phone let alone take it in a shower.
Sure I will research other posts and forums to see what are others experiences, thanks once again
And here I thought the S8+ was water resistant.... Surely the IP68 rating isn't just so much marketing hot air?
wow and they label it with IP68 in huge ads! Really it should have been replaced without any additional cost...

Sometimes sweat can cause the issue of the water damage. If you're in a hot sweaty environment you should put your phone in a zip lock bag. You can goole it and there are plenty of instances where sweat alone has caused the issue.

I'm not sure but guess the poster is from India. India is very hot country with high humidity. This makes off course people sweat much more. So there are many possibilities how the water damage indicator got triggered. And funny is most Post I read about this triggered water indicator people swear the phone never touched any water. Because they know very well water damage is not covered. And because Samsung touted the S8 and S8+ are water resistant they try crazy things like a guy who used it in salt water playing diver movie maker.

This is exactly what I was thinking. And India is very hot and the humidity is very high.
I've triggered the water damage on older phones multiple times just from humidity. On my note 4 I literally watch the sensor turn pink on the battery while the battery was sitting out on my desk not inside the phone.
If it is only happening while its charging I have a few suggestions if you don't want to pay for the repair charge.
1.) Try to clean out the charging port with a little bit of alcohol and make sure there is no lint in there that could be holding liquid.
2.) replace your charging cable. It may just be a bad cable
3.) Invest in a wireless charge and stop using the cable all together

Dude, I wasn't saying anything about your personal hygiene but sweating whether in your pocket or out of it is a real problem for smartphones.

Ask them how they tested the seals on the phone before opening it up. If they can't tell you say they have no way to prove it was not a manufacturing defective seal that was bad and they should cover the repair under warranty.

Hey are you speaking to any **** joe who answers the phone when you phone Samsung? Why I’m saying this, I had a issue with a company once soon as I asked to speak to their manager there whole attitude changed.. What you need to do is get hold of someone high up in the chain, that way you cut out dicks who are causing issues on your device and then making you pay for it.. it’s a joke they are charging you near 400 USD to fix a issue that is caused by their device or by their workers..

Even if you don't hold your mobile to your head mate.
It's enough having it in your pocket and moisture is already building dependent on your weather conditions. Im hyper careful carrying my mobiles around. Most the time I have a special Bag to put everything I need into it (Headphones, Charger, Micro cleaning kit and alike). Like this there is no bending, no cracked screen and many other issues are taken care of. Off course this is not a option for everybody. There are very small little nice bags even with integrated cooling. Maybe this could be a solution for you next time.
