Echo during phone calls - Oppo R7 Plus

I've got a stock R7 Plusf and seem to run into an intermittent issue with there being an echo during phonecalls.
This echo is not experienced on my end but seems to be whoever I am speaking to hearing an echo of themselves - I have tried this with several different people and different makes of phones and I can't seem to narrow down exactly what causes it. My best guess is either some crazy software problem or one of the mics is picking up what comes through the speaker and relaying it.
Anyone experiencing this? Do I have a faulty unit or is this a known issue?

Yes, same here. Stock color os, rooted.
Do you have it in speaker mode only or also in normal mode?
I have it in speaker mode, have not tried in normal mode ( at least no one complains ).
Turning down volume to first or second step helps.
I had this on my other phone from time to time, purely a software issue (echo cancellation).

I've only used it in normal mode.
I've made a phonecall or two over Bluetooth without issue but that time is dwarfed by normal phonecalls.
I've not seen any setting where I can mess with echo cancellation, is there such a thing in ColorOS?

The echo cancelling is done automatically, no need for any settings. But it seems that it is not working well.
I just installed the ota update, it might have improved this. One of the updates is: "optimized phone call quality".

I had been hoping the update would solve the issue but it hasn't done much so far.
Hopefully there's something else in the pipeline or we get Project Spectrum soon and I can judge software/hardware issue a bit more accurately.

[HELP]Mic Echo in call

Hi,
First, Thanks to all the developers!
Amazing work!
I wanted to ask if there is a chance to change the priority of this issue to HIGH
(http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/issues/detail?id=11)
eventually, the main use is for talking and this issue really annoys everyone who's calling..
I was looking for solution and found this thread.. but I'm not a DEV so I can't say if it's good for our mini or not..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860850
The problem is only on the other side of the conversation, I can hear load and clear..
Thanks again!
hi
yes you are right about annoying part
but as i can see they had different issue than our
they had Background noise fix / mic gain fix and we have echo on the side of person who we are talking to...
i might have some ideas for this, i will have a look later after sensors fix ;-)
we definitely need to edit oncrpc devices like schlund maded for gps! Please see *.h in /root/android/kernel-htc-hd-mini-testing/arch/arm/mach-msm/qdsp5_comp
This is maybe good: #define AUDMGR_PROG 0x30000013
and I think this is not good: #define AUDMGR_CB_PROG 0x31000013
Also in this folder we have many many definitions like jpeg task etc..etc...etc... Cotulla also maded some changes there!
Update:
youtube fix is also there? As I recall the first port of 2-6-32, the big problem was here, and I think this have priority checking! => mach-msm/include/mach/msm_adsp.h
i already checked the rpc values, they are correct, same than on windows DLL.
for youtube and camera, the key issue is adsp_photon.c, where cotula imported src for photon.
for headset mic, there must be a DEX or RPC to trigger.
if you want to fix it, you need to spy on windows first (gpio or DEX) or check on topaz/raphael/leo how they enable headset

There is discussion in various forums for other Android phones and Android apps (eg. SIP/VoIP) that a temporary fix is to just turn down the volume on the earpiece. But since the in-call volume is yet to be fixed for the Photon (meaning it can be quite loud!), perhaps you could try using the headset (if you can tolerate the high volume) when speaking and see if the echo problem has gone away. Or try using loudspeaker and see if the other party reports the echo issue to see if echo cancellation operates to make a difference.

[Q] Nexus 5 Microphone Not Working

My Nexus 5 microphone does not seem to be working while in calls. What is strange is it seems to work jsut fine when used in Skype, suggesting that this is a software issue. Also strange is that when I turn the microphone mute on/off during a call, I can hear that when the microphone is muted there is less fuzzy white noise. Has anyone encountered this issue? Is this a defective device? I've flashed this device with alternative ROMs, and now I've reflashed it with the factory stock ROM. But nothing changes the behavior that I've described.
I discovered another thread on this that seems related to what I am experiencing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538979
Have you done anything to the device other than ROM flashing (flashed kernel, MODs, etc)?

I think the answer to that question is no. I mean, I had also installed various apps and the like.

Yep, you have the problem many people have encountered with their Nexus 5. I occasionally have this issue. It isn't as bad as when I first got the phone, but the microphone does occasionally go wonky during a call (i.e. callers on the other line say I sound really far away from the phone). The first 2-3 weeks I had the phone people would say all they heard was static while using the microphone (not speakerphone). It works better now, but the static/distant sound persists at times.
The consensus suggests it seems to be a software related issue that Google has not addressed yet.

My new z3 d6603 sounds like a tornado to people receiving my call.

So basically to everyone who receives my call it sounds like rushing wind. I've tested multiple different things and it sounds the same. I even went into the phone configuration menu and ran a test recording on the primary mic and still the same tornado. For a short while, turning off the WiFi fixed the issue, but now it is on going thing. I have read around other Z forums and have read that recent android updates have caused over sensitive mic and audio issues.
Does anyone else have this issue?
Is this software or faulty hardware issue?
Does anyone have any fixes for this?
Is there some sort of setting I missed? (I have turned mic sensitivity down in settings but no change.

Disable noise cancelling option for call and see if that helps, I have not encountered this.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I already tried that and it didn't work. Thanks though.

Get a new one, because, I just got a replacement (due to light bleed), and even my old one never had any audio problems.

Notification and ringtone sound first low, then loud

Hi.
Since I have got the phone I have noticed this bug and lately it became constant. When someone calls me, the first second is very low then the sound becomes normal. The same with the texts and other notifications. The first thing to come in mind is the "ascending volume" option.. disabled that and no luck. Sometimes I notice that even when I type, the sound is randomly low and high (or maybe I have just became paranoid...).
I have searched the web and seems like many people have this problem but there is no fix. Some of them uses the app "Disable Increasing Ring" or "Smart Ring Control" and they are happy with that. But in my case it didn't work. Don't know if it is because of incompatibility with the 1+1 or with the CM11S.
If anyone else had this problem please help me figure this out. Thanks in advance.
My device is OnePlus Onewith CM version 11.0-XNPH38R. Not rooted (will root if the fix requires it )

Low mic volume on AOSP ROMs

I think I've tried almost every AOSP ROM that's been published in the last two years on here. In every one of them, I get the same issue every time - the mic volume is way too low. In calls, the person on the other end hears me as if I'm whispering quietly, while I'm almost screaming. Same goes for recording videos, mic volume is consistently low.
I tried some fixes online that people have suggested in the past, by modifying mixer_paths or applying certain patches to fix the issue, but nothing worked.
I hope someone else here had this issue and managed to find a fix for it.
