AT&T Visual Voicemail - text transcription - AT&T LG V10

I just picked up a V10 a few days ago - My previous phone (HTC One M8 on AT&T), had a voice to text transcription option in the visual voicemail APK - was that a special version just for HTC phones or should I be able to pick up an APK for this phone that offers this functionality?

The AT&T Visual Voicemail app available in the Google Play Store actually has a setting for the text transcription. As you noticed, the Visual Voicemail app that is pre-installed on the AT&T LG V10 does not have that option. Also, the app in the Google Play Store is marked as incompatible with the V10. I haven't tried sideloading the APK.

There's also Google Voice. I don't know if that offers the same functionality as AT&T's

It wasn't working for me either yesterday on my slide. I wonder if it has something to do with the communication to T-Mobile. I went back to old trusty Google Voice...provides practically the same functions as visual voicmail, plus you can have the voicemails transcribed to text and can listen to the voicemails from the computer.
tmobile visual voicemail isn't great...I use youmail, and I love it. It's a free service, and the app has instructions on how to make it work...give it a try...

I believe you have to call up t-mobile.
They will add the android visual voicemail service for free.
Use Google Voice, honestly, the tmobile vm isn't too good.
Google voice is tied to your gmail account, so there's that too.

Visual Voicemail AT&T

I still can't turn it on. Has anyone had any luck??
Sent from my Focus using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I was in a corporate store yesterday and asked about it. The guy was clueless and said only the iphone could do that. I said no the Mango upgrade brought it to WP7 and I believe Android already has it with apps. He said check back next year when the new updates and new phones would be out. Since we know it shouldnt be that long for the upgrades and the new phones it just goes to show the salespeople still are clueless.
Yep... I have Mang B2 and its still not there. T-mobile has theirs turned on. But not ATT.

Try calling your phone and leaving a message, then activating it in the phone settings. My T-Mobile VVM would not activate until I had a new message in my inbox.
Yeah... Just tried it... No go. I think t mobile is the only one that has this feature on wp7 right now.

I get my VVM through Google voice. It's just in email form but I like it

You won't be able to use visual voicemail on AT&T without signing up for their service, which is currently not available for WP7, and will cost $4/month when it (eventually) does become available. It will not be free.
Google visual voicemail is free, however, and it works fine on my Focus. It can be delivered via email, SMS, or both. I chose the SMS option. I added the Google Voice access phone number to my contacts, so when a VVM notice comes through (they come from the access number), if I need to listen to it to clarify a mistake in the transcript, it only takes two taps to connect.
There is also the GoVoice Free App that gives you FULL visual voicemail function through Google Voice. It can be found in the Market. But I will prefer ATT VVM when it comes avail.
Are there any updates on this? Does anyone have Visual Voicemail working on ATT with their WP7 device?
Did you try texting Activate:dt=6 to 122?
AT&T does not support Visual Voicemail on Windows Phone 7... yet. So until AT&T supports it, we won't be getting it.
Its simply amazing how long it takes AT&T to "test" things.
Alternative for visual voice mail
Try the MagikMail app with a free YouMail account. Works perfectly with push notifications. You can even load your contact photos to YouMail and get their pic on a flipping live tile along with their phone number when they leave a message. It's a lot better than the Google Voice apps, IMO.

[Q] Sprint Visual Voicemail

Has anyone found a way to get Sprint's visual Voicemail working on cm11+? Because I tried it from other posts, and It doesn't connect.. or want to get any of my voicemails.
I use Google Voice... I don't recall anyone getting Sprint's VVM app to work - although there were a few that tried, sounds like you found that thread.

I had wanted to use google voice.. does it work the same way that Sprint Visual Voicemail does? Like in being able to play my voicemails from my sprint account, not my google voice account

I've never used Sprint's Visual Voicemail, so I have no idea. I am not able to compare.
With Sprint however, you can easily enable/disable full Google Voice integration - so you can easily go back if you don't like it. This is different from other carriers, where you would have to port your number (or get a new number) to Google Voice to get the full benefits of the platform.

Problem apps

Anyone have any app problems on this phone?
I have 2:
1) Motal Kombat X won't load to the actual game. It installs and loads the intro video, but won't go into the game.
2) AT&T Messages is one of my favorite apps. It isn't on the app store, Google play, but someone posted a link so I set it up on my phone. It normally keeps track of all my texts, calls, & voicemails all in one app! I can't get it to work with my voicemail. For some reason, sending pics & text in an mms, sometimes works & sometimes doesn't.
Anyone else having issues like this? Or any suggestions for these issues?
Post your issues so I can research them and help too!

On ATT, for VM to work correctly with the messages app, you have to have a feature (SOC code) added to your account. This often gets changed by accident when you upgrade to a new phone. when the rep selects your voice featues the code for VVM (visual voice mail) is directly above 'without VVM' , so its an easy mistake for a newer rep to make. Call 611 and ask them to make sure you have VVM provisioned on your line.
link please!
Love to see what ATT Messages is all about......can you forward or show the link you mentioned for a working version of ATT messages for the LG G4 ATT variant?

audio voicemail

So...my old S2 had an app on it that would record missed calls to an audio file. There was a pro-version (sans ads) but the free version was adequate.
Now that I have an S5 and an S6, I don't see anything similar. Not among the default apps, not on Playstore. There is voice mail but you have to dial a separate number, listen to the voicemails and then decide to keep or delete.
The old S2 app stored the recording on the phone...or at least it was directly accessible from the phone.
When I search Google play, all I see are voice to text (visual voicemail) and voice recorders. I don't really see any that automatically redirect a missed call to a recording on the phone. And I'm not sure how faithful and precise voice to text is, esp. if the caller isn't very clear or is long-winded.
Any thoughts, suggestions or help? Plz.
I'm using YouMail, pretty nice app. Have you tried it yet?
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.youmail.android.vvm&hl=en
apk: http://choilieng.com/apk-on-pc/com.youmail.android.vvm.apk
I installed this app on my Android phone and iphone.
Or, Google voice is another good choice but only available in US. Your data will be stored with Google account, this acts as you phone number.
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googlevoice&hl=en
apk if you need: http://choilieng.com/apk-on-pc/com.google.android.apps.googlevoice.apk
hope it will help

Thank you for your reply.
I tried Google Voice. But after further research, I suspect I will never get what I am looking for despite apps being out there that might be able to do the job...if only I weren't on a third party carrier. I use TotalWireless and they use Verizon towers. But Verizon apps won't work on my phone.
Despite that, the voicemail I do have goes through Verizon and the procedures for activating it and accessing it are identical to the procedures used to activate and access voice mail directly through Verizon.
I got through the set up of Google Voice but when I went to get voicemail, I got a message that connection couldn't be established or something similar.
Called Verizon and TotalWireless--the upshot is that it won't work.
YouMail also states that it won't work with third party carriers.
