Slimport with fast charge - LG V10 Accessories

Anyone have a slimport adapter that allows for fast charge? I have a combo unit that will only slow charge with HDMI, with a USB drive or sdcard it has to be unplugged for it to read. If I would have known that I would have gotten less expensive adapters. This it's the one I have:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015H60K4C/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_3LDBwbWAHKBE1

SlimPortConnect.com says:
"SlimPort accessories support two modes of charging – regular charging and fast charging – depending on the connected travel charger and the mobile device."
This isn't true with the one I have. I'm using the original V10 charger and its slow charging.

I have 3 different Slimport/HDMI adaptors.
I will try all 3 today with the original LG fast charger & report my findings.

Thank you John!

You dont have to have a modded cable if your car charger already has the data pins shorted. Im using the motorola rapid charger too and it works fine, it will charge your phone as AC and give enough power to recharge the battery with navigation on. if you want something a bit better you can try this one , they ship to canada. My rapid charger broke so i bought it a few days ago. Reviews says the trident will give around 8-900mA, the moto charger outputs around 6-700mA.
I would only buy a premium brand here. If you see how no name mains adaptors are made... the risk of blowing up something expensive is just too big.
I wnent with the Sony AN-400 / 401, because it is rated at 1.2 amps exactly, is small, and was reported to work fine.
For some regulator disasters:
http://hackaday.com/2012/08/15/buying-cheaper-electronics-and-not-saving-money/ <- a USB car charger without components, putting 12 volts straight on USB.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi-b9k-0KfE <- teardown of imitation apple mains adapter, showing no output protection and very little gap between mains voltage and output circuit. Good info, but style of presentation is not my cup of tea.
So that is why I went with a premium brand.
that's one charger from one factory that some guy that didnt know what he was doing and ordered thousands, without testing them. He probably went for the 25 cent super deluxe model...
Well reviewed chargers from xda members here and not to mention the hundreds of people on amazon are a safe bet. Here's a 8+page thread on the charger i linked. Your premium brand name sony charger is made in china too.

1. Get a bullet-type 2.1 amp USB charger:

2. Add a "charge only" USB cable:

That looks ok,but I cant find a good quality usb charge only cable that ships to canada :
I have a el cheapo usb charger from ebay and I used my usb cable that came with the phone...and when i pluged it in it switches from AC charge to USB ever couple of seconds back and forth...so I want to try something different.
If you're into rooting and custom kernels, most of them have a fastcharge option where you don't need to have a special usb cable, or, attempt to short the D- and D+ lines.
Monoprice has a 2.1A bullet charger for a bit cheaper:

i cant say for sure until i get it sometime next week but i think so. im in canada too and couldnt find the powergen anywhere that would ship here.
There are some other brands that are good too but i like this one cause it's dual usb like my old moto rapid charger. If you dont need that you can get some smaller ones that will work just make sure they are well review and can output around 1A. The one that bfspider spider recommends is a good bet too since monoprice is pretty reputable store and will ship to canada.

You can try to mod this one in the mean time, just take it apart and attach the two data pins(they are the two middle ones). Solder is best but if you cant you can just use pilers and bend the pins until they touch. i did this with a few of my chargers too and it works to make them AC but it wont increase the output if its low to begin with.

I just bought a "Samsung Car Adapter" with this output: 5V 1A
Is this a good CAR adapter for Nexus 4?
The Nexus 4 "LG travel charger", has this Output: 5V 1.2A
I wan't to use this Samsung Car Adapter while using GPS on the Car or playing games on the Car without lowering the battery.

FYI, this adapter should allow most existing "iPad" chargers (1.2A or higher) + any USB cable to work well with the Nexus 4.
The problem is that Apple products deviate from USB charging standards. As a result, most chargers try to be compatible with iDevices and also deviate from the standards. So when standard-compliant devices try to follow the standards, the chargers refuse to follow the standards, and the devices get upset with each other. Fortunately, they fall back and settle on a lower-power charging rate.
If you want to buy chargers that are very clear on what they support, check out MediaBridge (also available on Amazon).

So i got that Trident charger that you recommended....the quality looks good...but when I tried it in the 1A and 2A port with the usb cable that comes with it,it shows USB charging but when I use the HTC usb cable that came with my HTC one S it shows AC charging....its so confusing and I just dont get it....that HTC cable is a sync and charge cable.
The generic T-Mobile car charger available at T-Mobile stores charges just fine. I believe it is at least 1 amp. Its black, has a purple white small led indicator when charging. The USB end looks like a little block and the cord is an accordion type and it also has a a female USB slot in it to plug something else in at the same time but I believe whatever USB cord you plug in there only charges at .5 amp. With this charger I can run navigation and Bluetooth and Pandora and message at the same time and it will charge.
Sent from my often RMA'd Nexus 4, So that I can use the one I'm using now when I get the 6th and hopefully final one.
I just dont get it why does it with one cable show USB charging and with the other HTC cable AC charging?:S

[Q] Weird Car Charger Problem

The Scosche car charger that I've been using with my old phone (HTC One m7) doesn't charger my Note 4, but still chargers the HTC.
This type http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scosche-Dual-USB-Car-Charger/dp/B00E1UWA4O/ the dual USB charger.
I've tried various cables (Note 4, another Samsung, Mini USB with Micro adaptor cables), they charge all devices, when connected to mains power.
Additionally, I've got a cheap 750ma output car charger, that was free with some eBay tat and that chargers the Note 4, obviously too slowly to be of any real use.
Does anyone else have the Scosche charger?
Should a non QC2 charger work, I'm guess it should?
Should I just buy a QC2 car charger?
The only thing I've not tried, is switching off the QC feature in the phone. But, I wouldn't think I should have to do that.
Thank you for any feedback.
********** Edit **********
Just to help anyone else in internet land who might be reading this.
I contacted Scosche and they recommend using a charge only cable to fix the issue with the Note 4 (and possibly S5).
I can't confirm this, I don't have a such a cable at the time of writing. But I might have shortly.
I use a Anker power IQ charger in my car and it works with the Note 4. Non qc2 chargers should work fine.

Any 1000 - 2000 mAh charger will work on our Note 4.
I've tried HTC 1000 mAh charger, even Blackberry charger & all working.
May be the Scosche pin circuitry is not compatible with Note 4, try another car charger.
I'm using Capdase 4 ports car charger (2 ports 2.1 Ah & 2 ports 1 Ah) and it charge my Note 4 quite fast even without Fast Charging capability.

Did you put OTG mode on via advanced settings? It will go off automatically after 10 min inactivity. And yes, Dash charging needs original dash charger AND dash cable (or whatever it's called, the red Oneplus cable).
I have cheap chinese OTG-adapter and it works just fine, after enabling OTG mode every time when using.

For my nexus6 I have fast charger which kicks up charging up to 9V - 1A.
This charger does not work with oneplus6 and charging only at 5V - 1A.
Also, nexus6 does not fast charging with oneplus charger and charging at 5V - 1A.
I am highly disappointed that we do not have standard for fast charging.
I use magnetic adapter and it's incredible convenient to use and I am not going to go back. And now I have to leave with retarded decision from Oneplus who cannot deliver normal fast charging from any chargers which able to deliver over 1A !!
Shame on you Oneplus !!
You need the cable provided with the phone to dash charge, because of the high current output while charging. Standard cables are rated to handle maximum 2amps, while OP uses 4amps.
Edit: VOOC and rapid charging cables have a special 5th pin used for verification
~Disregard below statement ~
Any cable will work as long as it is rated for 4A. The power brick has to be a dash or VOOC charger.

No it won't. How does the charger know the cable is rated at 4 amps?
There is stuff in both charger and cable and both must be present for dash charging to work

I didn't realize there is a 5th pin used as verification. Ideally the power brick and/or phone can detect the resistance of the cable but that's not the case here. Luckily most 4A cables I've found are VOOC or rapid charging compatible.
If someone needs a longer cable:
you can actually use a 3.0 USB extension cable as long as it is rated for more power.
some guys at the op community tested a few cables and confirmed this one working:

i dont know if i can post links to the OP Community but i will do it either

Just upgraded the misses from a OP 1 to an OP 6.
Until now we had also been using magnetic usb cables that are soooooo convenient.
My Nexus6 and her OP 1 charge at 1amp with them according to Ampere and were android auto recognized by our cars...
With them the OP6 only charges at 320mA and is not android auto recognized by our cars...
I'm looking for a magnetic usb cable upgrade so OP 6 works as I expect it to... I don't care about quick charging (have never needed it as battery is never empty when i set the phone to charge at night). I care about magnetic uber convenience and android auto recognition in the car.

Power Delivery is Supported

I noticed that Tab S6 did not complain about slow recharging when plugging in a Power Delivery port.
I took some measurements using a couple of meters I have.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FMQZVW2
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D316FHM/
Samsung Charger with Samsung Cable:
9.12V * 1.595A = 14.546 watts
Power Delivery (Google Pixel 2 XL Charger and Cable):
8.39V * 1.93A = 16.19 watts
I also tested with different cables that I already verified that were good and a couple of different chargers for Power Delivery and Quick Charge and results were similar to the measurements above.

I was actually curious about this subject. Thank you for sharing your findings. I am assuming the charges times shouldn't vary much.
Very curious if the 45 Watt charger from the Note10 will give a additional boost.
My Tab is currently on order, but it will take 1 or 2 weeks before it arrives.
I ordered the 256GB model, especially for the 8GB memory.

I just ordered one of these on a black friday sale. Did you ever find out if the 45W charger works faster?
No it does not make a difference.
Just a FYI...kinda related?
Without even thinking much about it I've been using the PD port (connected to original charger) on my USB-C to HDMI converter for several months. During usage, which consists of streaming live NFL games via the S6 and watching on my TV, the battery level decreases, albeit slowly, from 100% down to about 85% during a 3-3 1/2 hour session.
I assume this is to be expected, considering. Anyways, just some info for thought.
While fast charging is very convenient, it will affect the longevity of the battery if it's pushed too far.
I buy this one https://www.amazon.com/Vantec-USB-C-3-Port-Delivery-CB-CU301HSPD/dp/B07FQWV2YK but when running usb keyboard and mouse and hdmi i get a warning that battery is draining faster then it is charging and can see battery draining. If I use official samsung battery does not drain.
i know this thread is old, but exactly the issue i have was mentioned here.
i got a multiport adapter, so i can use hdmi and usb 3.0 ports on my tablet. it also came with an usb-c port for with PD 60w charging.
but when i plugged my original amsung charger to the multiport adapter thats connected to my tablet, it said its fullxy charged it 50h.... so.. is this totally normal its like that? the battery draining is faster than the charging. doesnt matter what i do, it is always the same: with the multiport adapter + original samsing chargwer it needs like 50h+ to be fully charged. is it the same for you guys, too? (when i dont use the adapter, my original samsiung charger charges full in 1h30min... that ocnfuses me totally)
can someone explain me in possibly easy words, why it is like that and why it is normal? (in case it actually is normal..) so basically, i would like to know if i should refund the adapter because its usb-c PD charging port is broken, or if this is totally normal behaviour with samsung mobile/tablet charger stuff?
EDIT: meassuring the electricity on my power socket, when i dont use the adapter, its charges with around 12W. but with the adapter it sinks to 1,5W. is that normal?

I think it only needs to be quick charge 2.0/3.0 capable. Didn't the OP say he had trouble using the original pixel charger that came with his phone? I actually ran into issues using my original pixel wall charger with some wireless car charger mounts. They worked fine with QC chargers.

I ordered one too for 10 bucks it's worth a try.
They sent two of these to me. Both show max 8.4 watts no matter what cable/plug I use and I have many. It also does not present itself as a Pixel Stand - those features are not available.
To add, I noticed the stands get in a state that bounces power on/off very quickly and doesn't stop. I would avoid these.

Yes, bouncing like a bad port on a router/switch. It goes from charging/not charging very quickly over and over after about 3-5 minutes of charging.
mine arrived today, I can also confirm slow charging and no pixel stand functionality no matter what adapter or cable I use

Sorry for any delayed responses here (holiday) though I have just caught these testing results.
I just received an additional (2) of the same chargers and all seem to charge fine here. (Pixel 4 XL)
All being used with Samsung AC Fast Charging AC adapter.
Check to see if the AC adapter you are using has both 5v & 9v output. (Must have 9v for the FAST to charge)

Can you post a photo of the AC adapter that you are using ? (all photos could be of assistance here.)
The stand itself is 20w so fast charging would more or less come down to the AC plug.
** Keep in mind that the OG cable and AC charger plug that came with the PIXEL phone is not compatible
with this charger that will hit at SLOW. (mentioned in OG post)
I tried several, from the OEM to choetech to aukey to zte. I used the cable it came with, OEM a to c, OEM c, third party c; i tried both type c and qc3 chargers...all with no success. I wouldn't think the pixel stand feature shouldn't have anything to do with charging speed, though I can't say for sure

I believe the PIXEL stand software features only become enabled when detecting a FAST CHARGE at 13.5w.
(which is capable when using AC adapters of 9v & more)
The only AC adapter I personally have found to be non working was THE OG stuff & USB C to USB C
Most USB C to USB A seemed to work with no hitch.
USB C adapters, had no issues with them either. worked fine.
Can you snap of picture of the AC adapter labels. ?
See if we could narrow down the issues.
also one last .... check the actual charging wattage using the app Inware. (Battery Tab)
The lock screen charging message will ONLY show Charging Wireless - not rapid charging (which is easily misleading) though is running at FAST WIRELESS CHARGING speeds.

Using with LG stylo 5 fast adapter and the chargingspeed is fast. between 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours total. Using with Usb C to Usb A cable 3 ft.
My only issue really was trying to get the extra software up and running. I couldn't figure out why or how to do it. strange as I moved my pixel phone upwards while resting on the dock all of a sudden it just appeared out of nowhere to activate all the extras. weird device for sure but works.

---- II personally didnt even know there was such software initially for as it only showed up about an hour later sitting on the charger. Please let us know how it all goes and if you have any trouble along the way.
Knowing they are knock offs, I am kind of curious to see what the long run holds. Thanks for the info.

forgot to ask, can you share the specs of your LG charger for us ? All the info helps build the list of do's and donts. Thanks..
I am using the original lg fast adapter plug.
9.0v 1.8amps and 5.0v 1.8 amps. working well with stand.

I ordered a pair of these stands as well and am still waiting for them.
But I did order this one before that from amazon https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07Y9J68TC
and it also gets recognized as a pixel stand. (only when using samsung or QC3 adapters though)
