How is this any different than going into Settings-Apps-All, selecting an App, and tapping Disable?

Instead of having to go in one app at a time to disable, you select all the apps you want to disable and hit apply and you're done.

So, what apps on AT&T are you suggesting to turn off?
Are you talking about :ATT Address book and ATT Navigator etc?
Anything else to suggest that wont adversely affect the phone stability?
thanks

I'm pretty sure I disabled like 70 apps. Phone works fine. I'll type up a list later, I'm on my note 5 today since I didn't charge the v10 last night.

There's an APP called PACKAGE DISABLER that does this too. In appstore.

Correct. Debloater doesn't see my phone.
Also, I don't see the "Allow PC" check box show on my phone either.
EDIT: NVM. LG PC Suite had to update. Once that finished, it worked. Thanks for the help!
Question though, is it beneficial to disable apps that don't show under "Running" when you go to Settings>Apps?
I was told it really won't matter to much, unless the app constantly reopens and runs in the background.

Just got my phone today. "Debloated" my phone manually it took me about 10 minutes. Nice tool but I prefer to do it by hand so I can cherry pick.
On a side note, this phones pretty darn quick!

Hi,
Which version of LG PC Suite did you install? I can't find LG V10 or H900 compatible versions of the suite...
Thanks!

So the reason I got confused is when you go to LG's website, it makes you select your phone model in order to download the suite. Ironically, the LG V10 or H900 or not on any list.
With trial and error, I found that this suite works: lg-pc-suite-v.en.softonic DOT com/download?ex=SWH-1776.1
(LG PC Suite V)

[GUIDE]Offline Maps for GPS USERS (Android)..!!

So, as I was going through the posts, I saw some Android users claiming that they cannot find any suitable GPS application with offline maps. So, I am here to post the details which might help many to solve this problem of their.
(Note: I'm not advertising but just helping people)
There are many application in the market which have feature for offline maps or cached maps like google map, rmap, oruxmaps, ublox, locus, iGo etc. (these are the maps that i have tested and used by me or some of the other users here)
So, here is the guide.
Method 1.
First of all you need one of the above mentioned software installed on your Android phone (all the above apps are free of cost)
Next you need the offline maps and the guide is as follows:
Step 1. You need to download/create offline map and you will need to download Mobile Atlas Creator (also known as MOBAC and it is a free open source software) tool with SQLite library. Java Runtime Environment should be installed on your computer since this software is based on java. ( To download [url" http://sourceforge.net/projects/mobac/files/Mobile%20Atlas%20Creator/MOBAC%201.9/Mobile%20Atlas%20Creator%201.9.8.zip/download"]click here[/url] )
Step 2. Run Mobile Atlas Creator.
Step 3. From the drop-down box in the left upper corner of the screen select map provider.( This step is only for users having MOBAC version 1.8 or below. )
or
Step 3. In the pop up window appearing on first start of the application, select the map format and the respective map file name for it.
Step 4. Using the mouse select the area you want. You can zoom in and out using the scroll button.
Step 5. Choose zoom levels for you offline map. Please note that creating maps of a large area with high resolution will result creating data file several gigabytes in size.
Step 6. Enter a name of your map and click “Add selection” button.
Step 7. Select the desired format from “Atlas settings” drop-box.
Some of the supported applications/formats are given below:
-AFTrack (Symbian)
-AlpineQuest (Android)
-AndNav (Android)
-BackCountry Navigator (Android)
-Big Planet Tracks SQLite format (Android)
-CacheBox (Windows Mobile)
-Cachewolf
-Garmin Custom Map - KMZ (GPS handhelds)
-Glopus (Pocket PC)
-Google Earth
-GPS Sport Tracker
-Magellan RMP (GPS handhelds) & VantagePoint
-Maplorer (Windows CE/Windows Mobile)
-Maverick (Android)
-Mobile Trail Explorer (J2ME) - single tiles and MTECache file
-NaviComputer (Windows Mobile)
-nfComPass (WinCE, WinMobile, WinXP)
-OruxMaps (Android)
-OsmAnd
-Osmdroid (Android)
-OSMtracker (Windows Mobile/Pocket PC)
-OziExplorer (single 24bit PNG image with calibration (MAP) file
-PathAway (Windows Mobile)
-RMaps SQLite (Android)
-[Nokia] Sports Tracker
-Touratech QV (Windows software, commercial)
-TrekBuddy (J2ME, Android)
-TwoNav / CompeGPS
-u-blox
-and others
( Steps 6 and 7 are applicable for users having MOBAC version 1.8 or below )
Step 8. Press “Create atlas” button and the download of the maps will begin and be quite patient because it might take time depending upon your internet download speed.
Hurry you are half way done with the offline maps.
Step 9. Once completed, open the folder with your atlas file. Copy the file on your Android device to /sdcard/"your app folder"/maps folder.
Step 10. Open the android application and press Menu button and goto settings and select the user defined map i.e. the one you placed on your sdcard.
Method 2.
How to save Google maps for offline use on android and you can save your bucks
Enable the Google Maps Labs Map Pre-caching:
1. Open Google Maps android app.
2. Press Menu button->More->Labs->Precache map area and enable it.
3. Now when you search for a location, click on the map label that appears.
4. In the location view, press Menu.
5. Press Precache map area.
How to use it :
1. While using pre cache maps there should be no form of internet connection running on your phone. This is done to prevent the pre cached area update its tiles.
2. Open GMaps
3. Hit Menu -> Settings -> Cache Settings -> Pre-cached map areas, then tap on the one that you need to use.
4. Note : While using pre cached maps it isn't possible to get directions or search for places but positioning can be done.
This can be used to view 10 miles around the selected area (offline).
Method 3.
There are many applications which help users download maps from mobile itself, either in setup wizard or in options. Following are the apps that support this features:

7. Locus
8. Maverick

10. MapmyIndia
and there are many more ahead.
Here you go. All is set and you are good to go. (Note: The first start up might take time but the consequence will not)

I9505 Ultimate BLOATWARE (remove) List deBLOAT Android 4.3 OFFICIAL (ROOT required!)

Ultimate BLOATWARE (deBloat) List
for Android 4.3 and 4.4.2x official
(ROOT required)!
Attention for Android 5.0.1 and UP:
I started a new Thread here: Click
. . .
Samsung Flip Cover friendly!
There are more (depending on your usage) but that was it for now!
You can delete or move this Apps, Libs and Folders easy with "Root Explorer" App (Playstore)! Use v3.1.7 for Android 4.4.2 please!!!
Reason for this list:
We want a space-saving stock System with all necessary functions available!
We DON'T want custom Kernel & custom Recovery!
Use Xposed Installer/Framework with Wanam Xposed (ROM modding without modifying APKs)! :good:
In some cases it´s necessary after removing to clear the dalvik-cache and reboot!
Reboot always necessary!
I recommend using Playstore App "SD-Maid" (menu "corps-finder")
to kill unused related crap AFTER DELETING !!
It saves a lot of work!
In odexed ROM´s you have to delete/move the associated "xxx.odex" App´s also!

New added things are marked GREEN for some time!
XXUGNE5+ only Bloatware / Apps are marked BLUE !!!
NOTE: In Android 4.4.2 (kitkat) some apps are moved to System/Priv-app (if you don't find them in "System/App" !!!)
Don´t disable KNOX messaging with SuperSU (might cause random system restarts or bootloop if you thereafter removing knox).

I'm not a friend of those scripts especially the finished app is also an intervention in the system!
So often you do not do that and the "root explorer" derives good services!
So everybody can choose witch App he dosn´t need!

But not everybody want a custom recovery to do that.
If I know how, I would make an App to handle this more comfortable!

You make a good point, and I understand it.
But some of us want to remove EVERYTHING, and it's a chore to do it manually.
If you could do an optional script, it would be great. If you can't or don't want to, I understand.
Thank you for the great list.

Let me know what other apps you would have added to your list
As much as I appreciate the effort put into this, "best of" lists such as these are extremely subjective and I find them pointless. Of these apps, there are 2 that I'd refer to as "must have" and a further 4 which I have but don't use that often.
Although subjective I think the majority people will have installed or had experience with.
If anything it's allowed me to find an App that I would like to try.
One app that I would have in my top 10 list would be BubbleUPnP. Can not live without it.
Sorry but SOOOOO many of them were not MUST HAVES, and most of the others were just mild alternatives to better apps or personal preference of equally comparable apps. I appreciate the effort, but this is hardly a must have list

Thanks for letting me know about BubbleUPnP. I personally wouldn't use, but it does indeed look awesome.

Does anyone have a list for safe to remove bloat?

Did you have any issues after disabling lookout? I was a bit leery of removing that while still using knock on. Want sure if the device would keep track of wrong attempts and still allow a pin if the incorrect knock was attempted X number times.

[ROM][CONDOR][5.1][STOCK][MOD]Extremely debloated/NoGApps ROM for XT1021

Introduction
This ROM is based on lost101's work you can find here. The aim of my modifications is to push debloating to the extreme and leave only what's really needed. Before you flash this ROM read all the informations below and make sure you still want to do it as some stuff you find essential might be missing. For privacy maniacs there's also "NoGApps" version available. This version doesn't contain any GApps and no Setup Wizard which means you won't be able to use Play Store or any other Google services that require GmsCore apps. You will also have to setup your device manually with ADB so make sure you have all the software and drivers needed. It's only a little price you need to pay for removing Google spying services, aka GmsCore.
Disclaimer
Even if everything works 100% fine for me I take no responsibility for anything that happens to anyone else's device after flashing my ROM. If you want to try it, do it on your own risk. Always backup your data.

Flashing
1. Boot into TWRP
(2. Backup)
3. Format data (Wipe>Format data>yes)
4. Transfer ROM to SD card/Local storage
5. Wipe>Factory reset
6. Install
7. Reboot
If you have installed GApps version your device is ready. Just go through Setup Wizard and set your device however you like. Please mind you need to install some very basic apps (like web browser) to make this ROM usable as a daily driver.
If you have installed NoGApps version you will find there's no Setup Wizard after initial boot and some basic functions of your device's UI are disabled (Home button and Quick Settings). This is normal. They are disabled by default to prevent user from escaping Setup Wizard with Home button or accessing phone's settings before you accept Ts & Cs and so on. Restoring UI in stock roms is handled by Setup WIzard and GmsCore services, but since they're not present in NoGapps version you have to do it manually:
1. Enable USB debugging on your device
2. Execute the following with ADB:
Code:
adb shell
su
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
insert into global (name, value) VALUES('device_provisioned', 1);
insert into secure (name, value) VALUES('user_setup_complete', 1);
.quit
reboot
Your device is now ready.
Setup suggestions
Here are some tips you might find useful if care about your privacy and battery/RAM/CPU saving:
1. Remove SIM card before initial boot. This is to avoid download of any automatic "updates" using your mobile data during initial setup of your device.
2. In Setup Wizard (GApps version only):
- skip connecting to Wifi network before you install some firewall
- on "About your privacy" screen go to Privacy settings and disable "Help improve Motorola products" and "Enchanced device support" options. They're basically about monitoring your device and collecting "anonymous" data
- Skip adding your name (at least your real one)
- On Goole services screen opt out from "Use Google's location service", "Help improve location services" and "Improve your Android experience" options. They're all about monitoring and "anonymous" data collection as well
3. When you're done with Setup Wizard go to Google Settings (GApps version only):
- "Ads" > Reset advertising ID > Opt out of interest-based ads
- "Security" > disable "Allow remote lock and erase", "Improve harmful app detection" and "Scan device for security threats" options (again, it's all about monitoring your device and getting "anonymous" stats and data)
4. Open dialer > menu (3 dots in top right corner) > Settings > Advanced > Nearby places > disable
5. Go to Settings:
- Wifi (when you're ready to enable it) > menu > Advanced > disable "Scanning always available" (if enabled) and turn "Keep wifi during sleep" to "Never"
- Sound & notification > Other sounds > disable all to save battery/RAM/CPU
- Security > enable PIN/Pattern/whatever you like. Disable "Make passwords visible" option
- Language & input > disable spell checker and setup Any Soft Keyboard not to learn your dictionary and access your contacts (you never know)
- Backup & reset > disable "Backup my data" (if enabled). If you care about backing up your contacts etc. do it locally
That's about it. The rest depends on you and 3rd party software you install.
Known issues
- FC of Language & input menu in Settings after going back from "Language", "Spell checker" and "Google Keyboard"
Life after Google
You can try using Micro GmsCore to access Play Store content, and here are some alternatives:
1. Interesting and useful apps in F-Droid store:
- Adaway (system-wide ad blocker)
- AFWall+ (very nice firewall. I use it in whitelist mode because it blocks internet access to all apps by default)
- Etar (calendar. Won't work without Google calendar service and account)
- K-9 mail (bit ugly but awesome mail client)
- Open camera (stock camera replacement)
- Wifi automatic (turns wifi off when you lock the screen which saves battery and improves security. Bugged a little and randomly disables wifi from time to time)
- SMSsecure (messaging app with encryption)
- 920 Editor (text editor)
- Document Viewer (self explanatory)
- Network Log (self explanatory)
2. Other interesting and useful apps around the web (mostly on XDA):
- ApkTrack (app updates tracker),
- Calc+ (calculator),
- CoolTool (CPU and RAM usage and other info display),
- DejaOffice (office app that looks a bit outdated, but it's the only calendar app to work without Google services I found so far),
- Disconnect.me (private web searches; the app FC right after starting it, probably due to lack of Google search services available)
- DriveDroid (turns the phone into Linux live USB),
- ES File Explorer (file explorer),
- Firefox (web browser),
- Gravity Screen (Turning screen off and on without using physical power button),
- Greenify (apps hibernator),
- KWGT (custom widget maker),
- LiveBoot (Chainfire's app that replaces boot animation with system log display),
- maps.me (open source google maps alternative),
- MiXPlorer (file explorer),
- MoboClean (permissions manager),
- Naked Browser (web browser),
- NetGuard (no-root firewall),
- NeutriNote (notes),
- Nova Launcher (launcher)
- Open Camera (same as F-Droid app),
- Parasol (community based permission manager),
- PryFi (WiFi security),
- QuickPic (gallery),
- Recently ("close all apps" button in recents window),
- Recordr (sound recording app),
- Servicely (services management. Think twice before installing and using it - developer's G+ site, developer's APKMirror downloads
- SD Maid (cleaning tool),
- Super Backup (apps, sms, call logs, etc. backup),
- Titanium Backup (data backup),
- True phone (dialer),
- VLC (media player),
- WifiKill (WiFi killer),
- Wifi Protector (WiFi security, anti-wifikill),
- Xposed
You can find more interesting apps and links on this XDA forum
3. Software that may help you secure your device - sufficientlysecure.org
4. More security software - Secure Mobile Apps
5. XDA Labs (alpha version of XDA app store)
6. Firefox browser add-on that lets you download apk files directly from google play store (without Google account connected to your device) in case you can't find desired app anywhere else.
7. Alternative app-stores, .apk mirrors, etc. - use at your own risk. So far I only tried Amazon's store - the pro is that it exists, the cons are that it requires tons of permissions, has very unfriendly interface, takes a lot of space, and the apps you download will only work as long as the store's app is installed.
Battery Life
When it comes to battery life Moto E's "budget" hardware becomes an advantage. Low resolution screen, its relatively weak backlight and low frequency CPU are the things that might make flagship users envious if you consider their power consumption. My wife is using Moto E as her daily driver and she literally charges it once a week. A the moment stock battery menu shows the device was up for 8 days and 9 hours since the last charge and it still has 18% of juice left, which means it can stay up in standby mode for another 1-2 days. It also shows 2 hrs of voice calls made and nearly 2 hrs SoT. The biggest drainer is mobile radio (38%) and Gravity Screen (13%) I had to install because my wife notoriously forgets to lock her screen - remove that and you have 1 more day of standby/calls. In deep sleep the drain is pretty much none.

xt1021_Retail_EU_51_Optimized_v1.0_debloat_mod_v1.0NoGApps - version WITHOUT GApps
XT1022 versions are now available. They're based on lost101's Retail Dual-SIM (Asia | World) 5.1 ROM (Optimized) v1.1. Unfortunately I haven't got Dual Sim Moto E to test these ROMs so making a backup before trying them is more important than usually. I've done exactly the same changes as I've done to XT1021 versions, and double-checked them, but chances are I missed something. I believe in worst case your device will stuck on Android logo during initial boot and you'll just have to reboot it to Recovery and restore last working backup. Please report any problems.

Well spotted, sorry about that. The link is now updated, enjoy.
XT1022 versions are now available. Please read post #2 for details.
Thanks for this - someone wanted what they had (stock ROM upgraded to Lollipop) minus the stuff that's never ever used, and this does this.
It did take a while before the AnySoftKeyboard worked. Is there a reason for having such an old version?

It's the latest version available in F-Droid. IDK why they don't keep it up to date.

They are based on stock ROM, but I removed a lot of stuff Google added to them, so they're quite close to AOSPin some sense.

I based it on Asia/World version of XT1022 stock ROM - is that what you normally use in India?

Like I said in description - I don't owe XT1022 to test it myself, so it's hard to say what could go wrong. Did you wipe data and factory reset before installation? What kind of problems you have with this ROM?
Calendar sync
Hello, first of all thank you for your work. How I can do to synchronize the calendar of google?

Hi, there's no Google Calendar in these ROMs. You'd have to install it first, probably with Calendar Provider app, I'm not really sure to be honest.

This could be due to Google Backup Transport missing - if you didn't recover it the syncing won't work
Updated - battery usage information added to OP.
