Wireless, 4g, etc - Blu Pure XL

Anyone elses wireless keep dropping as soon as you try to connect to something? I've factory reset 3 times now to try and see if it fixes it -no go. As soon as I try and download/run a speed test it disconnects.
g3/g4/note 5/ipad all connect fine with no issue, as well as 4 chromecasts.
On the other note, Android Pay launched and let me add cards to it.

I got no issues with connecting to wireless other then it disconnects sometime when phone is asleep.
How did you get android pay to work ? It launches for me but it doesn't let me add any cards.

No issues with mine... Have you tried restarting your router and then, your phone?

Indeed, connectivity cycles when you are on the initial setup program as well, bluetooth, nfc and wireless both go in and out (icons for bluetooth and nfc go on and off, wireless drops completely). Quite annoying. Already got a return going with Amazon, sucks since I just got it this morning.

Missed the android pay part - no clue, it let me re-add my debit card with no issues. I have installed the HTC sense package/launcher from fulmics though.

I am using the HTC Sense package and no luck with Android Pay. Oh, well!

Wow. I have absolutely no connection problems at all. I would be hollering loudly here if that were the case. I'm on WiFi at home right now no problem but post on my breaks from work from LTE with no problem. I've had no issues at all. I would consider an exchange perhaps.

Yeap, it was sent back on Tuesday. I just ordered a grey one as they came in stock on Amazon, hoping to get it Monday. I honestly likes what I saw with the phone, I havent been happy with any phones this year so far. Had a s6, g4, note 5, flex 2, mulitple nexus 6's (all with screen issues or backplate issues), iphone 6 etc. Hopefully this is the one, that helio x10 was pretty damn quick in it.

Hope that grey one arrives soon! People have been waiting for them. I really like this phone and am doing well with it after frustrations with dual SIM slots on the Zenfone 2 that involved getting a refurbished exchange unit sent to me, turned out all to be the 2G slot being the issue so it was returned. weeks of frustrations! So here's to good fortune!

swap sims
take sim card out and put it in Sim 2 ... getting data will be a little trick - for some reason I always have to go in setting and enable data - it won't enable automatically... but i think it will help ...
You can either keep it in Sim 2 or move it back to sim 1...

Verizon GPS Locking Up?

I searched through the Q&A about the S3 GPS, and I couldn't find a similar case to this. Hopefully it's out there.
My job involves a lot of driving, and I use my GPS for literally everything because most of the places are pretty far out there. I've used a Motorola Droid X and an HTC Incredible perfectly for this. The GPS would lock and maintain a signal, and get me there with no problem.
On my Verizon S3, I have an odd issue. It'll take much longer to lock in, and when it finally does, it seems to just freeze up after a few minutes. It'll be stuck on the same remaining time, the cursor will be on the same point in the road despite having passed it, and the distance to the next turn won't update. A little bit afterwards, it'll say signal lost and try searching for the GPS again.
I tried turning power saver off, checking the location services on and off, and yes, I turned it off and back on.
I thought it was an issue due to a preemptive rooting of my phone, so I came home early today and reinstalled the stock ROM. I tried the GPS again, and it had the same exact issue despite not being rooted this time.
Is there any fixes out there, or tutorials, or something that could be causing this? Thanks. Will click the thanks button the video beat over my head.
If it is doing it consistently take it back and do an exchange. I have sold two Galaxy S 3s on Sprint and was able to get a lock in a building pretty quick. I have the Galaxy S 2 and my first one had similar GPS issues. I just did a warrenty replacement for it not charging and GPS on this new Galaxy S 2 is great.

Alright, that makes enough sense. I'll try doing that.
Could there be anything else wrong before having to do that? Worried they'll just sell out super fast.
Samsung galaxy phones have been know for GPS issues. Sounds like you got a bad one. You will make yourself go nuts trying to find fixes for it, like I did. Get another one and see what happens, even if it is a pain to get another one.

Alright, I appreciate the quick help. My dad is currently remaining vigilant in his demand to go through tech support first, so he's working on that. If that fails, I'll definitely try getting another Galaxy. Hopefully I can actually find one.
Maybe they WILL fix it, who knows! Probably not, though.
Question is still open if anyone has any ideas.

Oh christ. Dad just finished with the tech support. They literally just told him to check the location settings to see if everything was checked(which it was when the problem was occurring). Even took it for another test drive and the same problem.
This really does suck sort of, I love the phone but GPS is essential. I hope I can just replace it.
If they give you a hard time return it and go somewhere else to buy it. You have 14 days to return it without breaking contract. Go into the store and see how their display model works.

Good luck
I'm having the same issue as OP. So i'm gathering that it just might be my specific phone and not that they're all having this problem?
I'm liking the phone for the most part, but the GPS issue is a pain when I use it multiple times a day.

I had similar problem and just went to Verizon store today for it. The "technical specialist" had ZERO clue. He didn't even know where the location settings are. Anyway, after I showed him the problem in the store he ordered a replacement for me. Didn't even challenge me about trying to use it indoor, or having the WiFi turned off etc. I also tried the demo units they had in store and they all locked instantaneously.
It was pretty easy and I'm glad it's over. I've spent hours trying to figure out whether I'm crazy or the phone is crazy.
Good luck.
You guys who are having the lock ups, are you using VZNavigator or Google Nav?
I exclusively use GNav and I have the Verizon navigation services UNCHECKED and I have had zero issues with getting locks and with navigation.

Google Map/Nav here. Never used VZW one. why on earth would anybody use VZW Nav? I did try both check/uncheck the VZW service.
In my case I'm sure it's not a user error. I spent hours trying all kinds of things, all possible combination of settings and different locations.

I'm inside now so I can't test it, but i have VZNAV App disabled, I'm wondering if that may be affecting GPS lock. I'm sure my GPS was working fine a week ago, and thats the only thing I did recently that could have affected it. Someone please test enabling/disabling VZNav App and let me know if theres any differences.

At one point of my testing I turned on VZW location service in location setting and it locked immediately. I was out in the open. I then tried toggling it multiple time, before and after rebooting the phone. It never helped again. I'm guessing in a normal situation it could help locking but it does fix my defective GPS.

I've never open VZNav app. When I first got my phone I disabled the VZNav app. After I noticed the GPS problem I went back to 100% stock and did a factory reset. Did not disable VZNav and didn't even install any app. I still had the same GPS problem. So I guess in my case I did disable/enable the VZNav app and it didn't seem to be the cause.

[Q] Cheap Android for Running With

I would like to get a cheap phone for just listening to music and using running apps. I do not need to use it for phone calls, sms or anything, just wifi and gps.
I was leaning towards the Nexus one, S, but am open to other things. I am in Canada, so I don't know if getting US based carrier specific phones would work or not.
I would prefer to pay less than $100
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

What's the point of caring about if it's specifically on a network? Lol your using it only for GPS and WiFi. By the way how are you gonna get the GPS to work without data?

What about Google maps?
Sent from HTC ONE XL THAT SING THE BLUES
That's a good point, is GPS part of data/sim or is it part of the phone regardless of sim cards?
My primary app I use for running is run keeper which utilizes GPS. If I can't do GPS then I wouldn't bother getting a second phone. I already have a great phone, but I really want to avoid using it for running.

GPS always works no matter if you have a sim card in your phone or not. It is not dependent of it. You can try it yourself take your sim card out of your phone and turn on Gps. You will see it works just fine. I have a galaxy tab myself and it also has Gps support even without a sim card in it.
So to answer your question; it's part of the phone regardless of using a sim card or not.
About Google maps, it will be able to show your location and even give you a route description. The only thing that won't work without a data connection is navigation.

Navigation is what I was trying to pin point lol. Though as long as your around a WiFi band or even use your current phone as a hotspot host, then any phone should be good for you! The nexus s is still kicking but if I was you I would at least aim for something with a 1ghz snapdragon processor, and 4.0 inches.

I see, but for those running apps there is no need for any navigation whatsoever. They just check how much you ran and so on, and to check that a Gps connection is enough.

To further explain, you can get apps like this free one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navfree.android.OSM.USA that will let you download the maps when you are connected to Wi-Fi, and then use them without a sim or carrier connectivity.. Doing this, you can turn any Android with a working GPS into a personal GPS unit. I occasionally buy them off e-bay for $20-30, install that app, and give them away to people who suck at driving...

Sprint Galaxy Note 5 Thread

I had to fight with UPS today for 2 hours, but I got my Galaxy Note 5. In short, I'm glad I got it. I'm sure, like always, each carrier will have their differences, but this is one SLICK SEXY phone.
Out the box I had 25%, I burned through it just doing app updates and setting up my information on the phone and then I tried the Wireless Charging...Guys, it's good! Like really good! I don't even have the Fast Wireless Charging dock. I have the Samsung Galaxy Mini Wireless Charging Pad and that finished up in just over 2 hours, so that Fast Wireless Charger is going to charge as fast as the end of a Prom date. Don't prejudge the phone over what you heard. Use it.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Guess u don't use much storage, that's why u don't have a problem with it. And of course you're going to notice a decent bump in performance coming from a note 3. I've warned everyone I know to not upgrade to the 5 and either get a note 4, or don't drop their 4 cause of Samsung pulling them.
I had to fight with ups as well. Somehow ups got my address wrong... It was either ups or Sprint. Either way I have it.

i use tons of storage... i carry at least 8TB of hard drives everyday. i just don't install many apps and music is all cloud based now for me. movies are kept on a segate wifi drive, i always have a otg adapter and flash ready, but most of the time i just stream netflix/amazon. the majority of my internal storage on my devices are now roms or flashing related crap.
because of the number of devices i have i find it easier to do it the way i do rather than have redundant info on multiple devices - still happens sometimes and i forget which tablet/phone has a certain movie or song... still can find my damn Fried Chicken from Beatnuts!
i started not using an external sd when i got my s4, just as a test, and it worked out for me. so getting an n6 and n9 wasn't too much trouble as i knew what to expect.
though i do think the removal of the SD slot isn't b/c they studied that most people don't use it, but rather that people are suckers and will toss an extra $100 for 32GB.

Totally agree with this. Iphone suckers have been dealing with this the whole time. I've only have known like 2 iPhone users that would pay all that money for a 128 gb iPhone. Most got the 16 or 32 gb versions and became very limited on what they put on their phone.
just got my order in. not time to play with it yet. damn, i forgot that samsung switched to 16:9 ratio. makes this thing less massive than i thought (huge negative for me). it's the same width as the note 2 but ~3/16 taller.

I chatted with Samsung support. Poured a cup of tea into my mac keyboard so I can't post the chat transcript. I'll try to post the magic sauce that got it working from my note 5.
Go to settings - applications - application manager- all applications - bluetooth. Tap clear data. Reboot your phone. See if Bluetooth is working better.
Mine is awesome. At school I was on my beats solo 2, I went all the way to the bathroom before they started fading, pretty much at least 3 classrooms between, a corner, then the bathroom, not too mention WALLS. I don't even get any service anywhere on campus

My range went bad again in a day or two. Returned my Note 5 to Samsung and they replaced the main board. It works great now!
I realized if connected to my car Bluetooth, talking and tethering at the same time messed up my last note 5. Tried everything to extend the range once broke and couldn't. I had to replace the phone. So now I do not do both at the same time while in the car. Just my two cents.

Oh
**** and here I was thinking it was my rom smh damn note 5 my Bluetooth sucks I'm trying to use it with my gear s and I can't even put my damn phone in my pocket. Should I un root it ? Or just leave it the way it is and send it back to tmobile?
Same problem here. Bluetooth is so crummy that it will disconnect from my pebble steel just from being in my pocket. Replacement note 5 is out for delivery now. Hopefully the new phone works correctly.

Talked to T-Mobile on Xmas and the problem is Samsung released an update that broke the range on your bluetooth. T-Mobile doesn't know when Samsung will release a patch to fix this. People that received replacements probably got a phone with the old update. I thought it was my bluetooth set so i ordered another one and same problem. I might have to Odin to a previous stock build.

TMO confirmed that an update is restricting the Bluetooth range? Interesting... I've just dealt with it pretty much since I got the device back in August as it's been tremendously frustrating that even as close as 1m I have connectivity issues...

Note 5. No WiFi connection.

I just got my Note 5 and, after connecting it to my WIFI, it shows "connected" but I can't open anything on the Web while connected to WiFi. The Speedtest app always says "network communication issues". I was able to use the wifi a couple of times, but lost it again. I talked to a Verizon agent and he tried a few things. Nothing worked. He connected me to a Samsung customer who simply told me that the problem was related to my router, not the phone. However, my Note 3 is connected to the same router and I have never had any problem. And all my other devices work with no problem on the same Wi-Fi. Anyone had or know of a similar problem? At this point I am simply thinking about returning the phone and going back to my Note 3

Could be a hardware malfunction. If it's happening and you just got the phone, that's what I'd lean towards. Can you connect to other WiFi hotspots? If so and it works just fine, then it might not be so simple.
I have a similar problem like this with my note 5. I have had mine a little over a week now and my issue is for some reason my note 5 will continuously connect to WiFi and disconnect and reconnect back to WiFi and it would do this every 5 mins. This is causing my phone to have terrible battery life but on 4G my phone will last about a day and a half to 2 days. My WiFi signal is Very strong the phone says but it would still lose connection to it. I myself came from the Note 3 and my note 3 never lost connection to my WiFi. I have a Netgear router wireless N+ and i use the 5Ghz output on it. Lately now i noticed its getting better its not disconnecting as much as it was when i first got the phone i don't know why its weird. I was about to return it thinking it was a hardware issue. I was told that the Note 5 is going to be getting marshmallow update soon by best buy so maybe that will include a fix for these WiFi issues and battery drain issues.

Yeah. I just talked to a Verizon agent again. I am taking it to a store to have it replaced. Hoping they have the 64GB version in store.

Took the phone to the Verizon Store but they didn't have the 64GB version in store. They ordered a new one and it arrived yesterday. It connected right away to my WIFI and I haven't had a single hiccup since. And to think that the Samsung representative I spoke too said the problem with the other phone was my Wifi!
Loving this phone so far but can't wait for my case to arrive because it's not as comfortable to hold and type on as my Note 3, which I am so used to.

It's interesting how some of these CSR's handle customers. I always go back to the store especially when the device is new. Glad you're enjoying the 5.

Im still struggling to love this note 5. Even after a month, I haven't really fully fell in love with it. I fell in love instantly with my note 3 2 years ago. But I'm really loving; the nice screen, the thin profile, finger print scanner, front/rear camera and the fast usb 2.0 charging. I'm not loving that it's more narrow than the previous note 4 and note 3. Feels a little too narrow for my fat, chubby and sausage fingers. But sall good, I make do

I use mine as a business phone because I'm a basketball coach. It allows me to take notes, draw up opponents plays and video tape some information without carrying additional media devices. The form factor has changed and the glass backing takes some getting use to. I just use a case, all the other feature I'm enjoying so far.
