Double tap to sleep - Huawei P8max

Hey I just got the some time awaits b26 update and its amazing to have my beloved double tap to wake function back as I got use to the opo and my wife g3 back when I used them and I missed it. Now that we have it feels amazing, but I was wondering if any one knows if by any chance will get the double tap to sleep as well like the g3 has it on the top bar for sleep, and the opo has it on the whole screen. Any one knows something about this or?

just download sceen off app from google play and use it it is great
no need to use power botton again

That's not bad, but I am more interested in the double tap rather than having new icons etc around the screen

wake up screen with volume key

Anyone have ideas how to mod it in order to enable wake up screen with volume key ?
i tried a lot of apps - wiget lock / GO lock / magic lock still not work.
root phone > try apps again
if that fails give cm a go
fairly certain option one won't work though
If you're rooted, It's extremely easy. Hold on, let me get it straight....

OK it's.... system/usr/keylayout/keypad_8960.kl
Open the keypad.kl file in text editor and look for the line that says volume up or down. I believe it's 114 and 115. Just write the word "wake" next to the one you want, or both. You should make it look like all the other columns/rows

How to turn off quick settings?

So whenever I pull down the notification tab in landscape, its always in quick settings. To not get it in quick settings, I would have to tilt my device 90 degrees to get none quick settings mode. Am I stupid or is there no option to toggle this?
2nd that question... and I don't even get the non-settings mode when I tilt my device 90 degrees...
---------- Post added at 09:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:41 AM ----------
I think I figured it out:
If you slide the screen downwards from the LEFT side, it will show you any notifications you have.
If you slide the screen downwards from the RIGHT side, it will show you the quick settings.
Now I need to understand how to configure the quick settings...

You are right! It took me a while to figure out what you were saying but in case anyone doesn't get it, from the UPPER LEFT CORNER of your screen, swipe down. Otherwise, swipe down on the UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER. That's about it. I still don't see any settings for quick settings though.

Turning on in my pocket

Almost every time I pull the phone out of my pocket I find out that the screen was already on. Are there any apps or settings that can detect being in a pocket or lessen the battery drain?
Possibly the double tab to wake feature? See if it is on, and if so turn it off and see if that fixes the issue.
Best I can tell, mine doesn't have that feature. Any idea what menu it's on?
What problems are people having? I'm not having any issues.

Settings > Device >Special functions > gestures > double tap to wake up screen. It is off by default on my phone.

Thanks. It was off. I figure the power button is just getting pressed because my pocket is not much larger than the phone.
Do you have a case? Lol well I guess there's only one which is the clear one. It is thin and makes the power button harder to press. I'm sure that would take care of it for you. I like the texture on the power button. Hopefully they make a case with that feature.

How funny, my clear case arrived yesterday and it solved the problem for me. Came in here to mention it.
Lol I beat you to it!

If your in settings tap search and type always on then choose aod and go to content to show click "clock or information" that's how I get rid of home button so I wouldn't tap it accidentally

But remember this phone has that invisible home button as well underneath the glass...you probably knew that but I just threw it out there

But you are right. Removing the button from AOD removes the double tap function. You can still hard press home though.
Double tap still wakes the screen up... (from black and white to colour)
I dont think you can turn it off. I had this problem so i turned on "keep screen turned off" in display
you can double tap to wake the screen? mine doesnt do that, am i missing a setting? i dont use AOD

Double tap the home button near the bottom of the AOD screen. Or you can double tap a notification icon.
Hmm not working for me. Do I need AOD turned on or something?
Double tap to wake ajd notification icons
Tap2wake and custom notification icons

To turn off the hard press unlock, search navigation bar in setting and turn off unlock with home button. Hope that helps some people.

How to double tap straight to lock screen?

Basically one thing that I despised about the Pixel 3 XL when I had it was that you can't use the double tap to wake without using the Ambient display, and it appears from what I hear is that it's the same way on the OP7P. You actually have to do a Quad tap on the Pixel 3. Double tapping twice. What idiot at Google thought that was a good idea.
On my currently S10+, I have AOD and Ambient display turned off, and if I double tap the screen it takes me right to the lock screen so I can easily see what my notifications are. That's the way I prefer it. I know you can hit the power button, but I prefer to use the double tap method.
So, that one thing pretty much killed my desire to buy this phone. There is no way to turn off the Ambient display on the pixel 3 and still use double tap to wake, and it seems this stock feature carried over to the OP7P. Samsung at least gives people a choice.
So before I give up totally on buying this phone, does anyone know a setting or a hack to get it to work like the S10+ does?
You can double tap to show your lock screen on the 7 Pro. You can also double tap on a blank area of your home screen to lock the screen.
Yep 2 taps while screen is off will turn phone on at lock screen.....not ambient display or like a aod type screen.... and i like that because next move is just unlocking device
Nova launcher has a gestures input section and you can choose to "screen lock" with double tap, see attached. Hmm read your title which is misleading, makes it seem like you wanted to lock the phone with dbl tap.
It's in the kernel settings, it seems. Maybe somewhere else. I don't think I'm going to do DT2W because of the fingerprint sensor
Thanks for all the replies.
One thing that I noticed in all the review videos I watched on Youtube, is that when they double tap the screen, it shows the black ambient screen with the little icons for notification, not the actual lock screen. Then they use their finger to unlock.
So what you guys are saying is that it can be set up to when you double tap it takes you right to the lock screen wallpaper which shows the actual notifications and their text and not the black screen with just the time and little notification icons?
I like to actually see the notifications and what they say when I double tap like when the phone is sitting on my desk. I always hated that on the Pixel I had to double tap, and then double tap again.
@djsubterrain
Ya the title was the best I could come up with at that moment.
In settings/display/ambient display turn off tap to display. That is how mine is set up and when I double tap the lock screen comes up. I have it set to pick up phone to show which will show the ambient display.

Because you need to enable another setting for double tap to wake.
Settings> button & Gestures> quick Gestures> Double tap to wake.
Under buttons & gestures\quick gestures turn on double tap to wake.
