Check Settings / About / Software Information / Software number, and the third number of the four is the region number of your firmware. Just copy it here and we can see if any of these files may help you.
About flashing, you'll find discussion and threads linked here in the m9+ RUU thread, especially in third post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/one-m9-general/ruu-m9-ruu-file-t3152206
If I had the money/donation to cover it (~500$) I'd go forward and buy an One ME too and start to experiment and dev for it, but it's too much in one year after buying m9+ without a pledge/fund thread of some kind from users.
Hopefully some dev might step up who owns this great new device soon.

My region Number is 708 which turned to be for Hong Kong so i am neither 720 or 1405
From my understanding both RUUs won't flash on my device unless i am on S-OFF
But can i use the stock recovery fron the hboot zip ??
And if the answer is yes, it won't matter which one in this case i guess

tough luck, because, no, you can't use recovery of another region if you want to get back to receiving and flashing official otas.
And I can't find firmware for Hong Kong region
If you're still on stock , I recommend staying until there's a method to s-off and flash other region firmware. Or till someone posts Hong Kong's firmware
I guess javacard and xtc2clip already could work to get soff.
What are you trying to do exactly?

The new ways HTC introduced into update system this became a much harder task than before. Also with aboot which replaced hboot, there's no way I know of to back your own stock recovery up, as you cannot simply boot a recovery without flashing it, like it worked on earlier hboot models.
That and the thing that HTC is aiming at smaller markets makes it a headache. It's hard to come by all the different regions firmware

So to understand you quite well in simple english
For the current time , i ( with region 708 ) cannot root while having ability to get OTA by ANY MEANS
Why can't i just flash the whole RUU of another region ( like i did with samsung )
I could flash another ROM with all its partitions from any other region

That's because of safety. Firmware contains radio and other things like configuration which may render your phone radio useless for some bands etc. Because even regions or simply carriers receive different hardware too to some extent.
In the case of one me I think there are not much difference, yet there are frequency regulations which the region implies
But if you get s off, security off, you can try other regions with setting carrierid to supercid. Most probably it will work just fine, but as you can understand there's risk which manufacturer won't let happen unless you deliberately choose that.

I can't thank you enough matr
So to conclude my status :
1- keep stock and forget rooting for the current time
2- Root after flashing TWRP that is for us while keeping S-ON and be at safe area and forget about OTAs and updates from HTC
3- Deep into S-OFF area to try to flash other regions RUU and have the OTA back BUT it won't be a safe journey at all and the device may be bricked ( especially that it doesn't have threads or devs to support it and help me )
Tell me dude, if you were in my shoes which option you would go for

As a remote possibility, you can try dig into m9ew Chinese forums, maybe there's rom development, but most probably China roms. Even rooted and with developer updates too I guess.
Without that the first option seems the least risky.
BTW for what app would you root if I may ask?

Any sign for a another variant for the device?
Hey guys
I am a One ME user and I want to get the Android M update and I am rooted at the moment and with a TWRP recovery downloaded from a Chinese site. I actually want to get back the stock recovery and unroot the phone to prepare for the OTA update. My device is apparently hima_ace_ml_dtul_007 and it wasn't in the list above. Can u guys explain whether the both RUU(s) can be used in my device? My device is probably a Hong Kong variant as I bought it from a local carrier.
Many Thanks!

Sorry @tbalden for bothering you,
I just want to know as i really can't get it quite well
I cannot flash any partition from fastboot if I have Locked bootloader and S-ON , Am i right ??
If I unlocked bootloader ( via htcdev site and there is no other way as i understood ) but still have S-ON
then I can flash certain partitions only ( System & recovery i guess )
Then why just i unlock the bootloader then flash TWRP then backup unmodified sytem partition then flash supersu to have root
Then to get back major update from OTA >> Flash the recovery only via fastboot ( from a different region hboot zip ) and i think this should be possible as i have unlocked bootloader >> then restore the unmodified system partition so I will lose root again >> have the OTA update and re do the process again
I guess OTA is still ok if i have unlocked bootloader only
Please tell me where are the flaws in my scenario as i am currently scratching my head and searching the whole internet for answers
Thanks again for assistance dude

hello, i have m9ew with radio 1405. can anyone guide me into installing GAPPS ?

To be able to point you into the specific direction you need to provide some additional information, especially like:
- country
- branding/provider
In general you can find all available stock RUU here:

1st of go here [Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on that will tell you how to get root and flash custom rom.
2nd go hereROMS that is where all custom roms are.
3rd you should realy open your own thread or use search box as hijacking someones thread aint nice

I would strongly recomment you to read, re-read and search (google or XDA) if you have questions.
Anyway the starting place is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
o S-OFF allows you to install stuff that you need by bypassing phone security.
o Recovery (e.g. ClockworkMod a.k.a CWM) allows you to install ROMs. It also allows you to do a complete (well almost) phone backup and recovery of the phone. So it's easy to get back to a prior version, Nandroid backup/recovery.
o SU gives you admin rights on the phone.
o SuperCID alows you to install any county's /carrier's ROM. e.g. debrand the phone from the shipped ROM.
There are a myriad of ROMs in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1112
Have a look at the number of replies / number of times they've been viewed to get some idea about the popularity.
You'll need to make a couple of decisions:
1: AOSP or Sense based ROMs. The stock one is Sense, pure Google Android is AOSP, they each have a different look and feel.
2: GB (Gingerbread) or ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich). ICS is the latest BUT BUT BUT needs additional steps to be performed to update the phone's firmware. I WOULD strongly suggest starting out with a GB ROM first as there is less likely to go wrong.

Surely the post immediately after your OP answered the question, or did it not ?
The other posts, including my earlier one, answered a different question. Hence the comment from another poster, sorry don't have the name, mentioned hijacking threads is not cool.

OK getting the thread back on track.
Did the post after you original one answer the your question.
If not, get the phone S-OFF'd and SuperCID then just install an appropriate RUU, then you'd get the OTA.
EDIT: or just reinstall the RUU for your county/carrier
Most people are going away from shipped ROMs here and trying different ROMs with their good and bad things.
So you mean to say that we can get HTC update with s-off and original ruu only......and u mean no need to do s-on also ????

Look, someone posted a potential solution. Someone else asked a different question (hijacked thread) which was answered.
Please explain the current situation and the attemps you've tried that have failed.
HBOOT, Recovery, Radio, ...... That info is crutial. Also what you are attempting to achieve .
i had s-off and rooted and now i have succesfully s-on and unrooted my device and now i am on official stock ruu...........my question is that can i update my phone via ota updates from htc???
I think OP is trying to ask if flashing an Asian RUU and going to S-ON will turn his T-Mobile Sensation 4G into a proper Asian handset (and therefore get OTA updates that official Asian handsets do).
I'm not sure if it would (maybe there's an IMEI check?), but I would change my CID to be what it should be for that RUU (and not leave it at supercid).
i have supercid my phone and i remain on t-mobile ruu then will i get official update
I'm actually quite curios to know the answer, if I just s-off my phone will I be receiving updates from HTC, I got the T-mobile phone and I live in the middle east, my phone does not read arabic, I'd ultimately like to install a middle east rom , but then will the official updates stop?
I don't think anyone will know until the OTA drops. My hunch is that having the right RUU and CID would mean you get the OTAs. Having supercid will probably not work, since that's essentially what identifies your region.
But putting my XDA hat on, why would you want an OTA anyway when we have legendary chefs here to get you hooked up with good roms?
btw, I tried out one of the InsertCoin ICS roms, and the Facebook app could read Arabic and Urdu properly (right-to-left with joined letters). I didn't check the browser, but it probably would have worked as well. (In GB, you'd have to patch the system libraries to get proper letter joining)
I guess you wouldn't, I just read some people commenting about having some bugs in their custom roms, so I just automatically assumed that the stock roms are at least stable. the other reason is that I'm afraid to break something
I just went through this, I had s-off with super cid and had the stock HTC Europe RUU flashed on my phone.
The phone detected an OTA update was available (an old one that was released after the RUU), but when I tried to download it, it just timed out. I reset my CID to HTC__001 and then it downloaded the update OK.
i bricked my phone while doing s-on
i know its a true brick as nothing is happining not even the charge light
can u tell me that "would this have affected my motherboard or not"????

[Q] Should I send my Sensation to HTC?

Hello. Yesterday I unrooted and s-on my sensation, because I have som dust in the screen. For it, I used germany's Vodafone RUU, due there isn't a RUU for Vodafone Spain (my country).
Some people from Spain told me that using that RUU from Germany was ok, but something confuses me: when I try to search for OTA's I get this message:
We have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection, we cannot update your phone. Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone. If you did not modify the system software or would like help reverting your system, please contact us via the support section at www.htc.com
So, I want to know if HTC will see this, or if they'll refuse to change my screen. I'd also like to know experience of others whose country hasn't got a leaked Vodafone RUU, and your experience.
Thank you all
Anyone?

so when you decided to leave stock rom and go custom.... didnt you make a nandroid backup like ALL the threads insist ? If you did you could restore it.
Or brick the device completely and say that a dodgy OTA upgrade caused it (no recommended)
EDIT: Wont a European RUU be good enough ? or a stock Spain RUU, It doesnt have to be carrier branded to re-validate warranty...Just stock

First of all, thanks for your answer. I didn't make a nandroid because the phone was bought already rooted from internet. I don't think so about the stock debranded ruu because they have the info that my phone was Vodafone branded and if they see a stock Rom they'll see I've manipulated the software.

[Q] unbrand my phone

I've just bought my new one s , but it is personalized by an Italian provider, with many apps and new icons. Does exists a way to unbrand it without unlock the bootloader ? I only need to change those horrible icons and uninstall some waste
Inviato dal mio HTC EVO 3D X515m con Tapatalk 2
You need root to remove bloatware, To get root you need unlocked bootloader.
You could however run an RUU, but if you dont have an unbranded one for your region, You will have to change CID, Which also requires root.
thank you very much! so i don't have any other option... i've to unlock it

I'm in the same conditions of tobia996(branded vodafone) but I disabled most of the crap apps instead of unlock\root to uninstall them.
However, in the future I'll put cm9 and I was wondering if I have to do something different to unlock\root considering the branded version.
also(a little bit off-topic?), it is possible to flash radio with whatever stock\custom rom without problem?(following this guide)
I asked this last question because I have the 1.78.161 instead of the 1.78.401.2 (currently not available the update on vodafone)

also(a little bit off-topic?), it is possible to flash radio with whatever stock\custom rom without problem?(following this guide)
I asked this last question because I have the 1.78.161 instead of the 1.78.401.2 (currently not available the update on vodafone)

Its is the same procedure for rooting regardless of branded / unbranded device.
And yes, you can update radio using that method. Make sure the radio is for your region, or you might get signal issues, By that i mean, Dont flash a radio from say a Tmobile US ROM if you live in the UK and vice versa
And dont forget, Always have regular nandroid backups ! I cannot stress how important they are. !

[Q] European RUU

Regarding the European RUU, I have a completely stock branded to vodafone desire S with the 2.3.5 OTA. Will I have to take any measures besides backing up my stuff to install the RUU?
Normally i wouldn't ask this, but the phone being limited to vodafone only sim cards makes me wonder if the RUU will affect any of it or if i have to do extra steps that I wouldn't with an unbranded phone.
Thanks,
Daniel
I think no one really knows yet. RUU is still too fresh. My guess, yes you can just install this on your branded Desire S. Your SIM lock will stay (this is never affected by a ROM). If you now have a Vodafone boot logo, you might lose that. Any apps put on there by Vodafone, you'll also lose, of course.
Actually that would work great for me, tired of the preinstalled crap As for not losing the sim lock, doesn't bothed me so much.
Kinda just want to update without issues, wondered how it would fit this specific situation.
Thanks for the reply m8
Update:
Installed the RUU without issues, phone seems to be working fine so far.. actually have more free memory than before (both without apps installed, did a reset before installing the RUU)
Wifi and 3G are working, phone is smooth but to be fair.. only installing apps atm.. glad to have the update

Did you use anything else except the ics RUU from htcdev? I also have a stock branded TIM Italy Desire S last time updated also via OTA to android 2.3.5 and I want to upgrade to ICS. Sorry for posting in your thread, but I didn't find anything in the forums to answer my question.

I don't care about the guarantee because I don't use the phone in Italy from where it was bought. Debranding is also a good thing for me. Just want to know if it worked just with the RUU for hin or he needed extra stuff.

no need to unbrand. This RUU is WWE and can be used with all Desire S. Just run RUU if your phone is s-on.
Or you can follow my instruction if you want to use goldcard to update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866204
i have a t-mobile brand desire S. After install the RUU the brand is going away.

Did the update with the RUU. Everithing worked fine, the phone is now unbranded. Still has somebugs. On the homescreen some app shortcuts refuse to open on touch sometimes and apps crash when you click links inside them. Hope there will be at least a minor update to sove the bugs ..

[Q] Help with update !!

HEy everyone,
I have an HTC One S with Fido and after getting sick of waiting for 4.0.4 (which still hasnt realeased to us) i sim-unlocked the phone in hopes of getting hte update. However to my bad luck it still shows that there are no new updates.. Can anyone explain to me what is wrong ??
P.S: I know a lot of people will suggest me to flash a custom ROM but I just want to know if i can get it the normal way.
Thanks in advance
What country are you in? A little more description with your question might help

The reason is because to sim unlock you have to have root. You can't update with root. I would flash an ruu that matches your device, tmobile, europe, rogers, etc... andmatches your bootloader. (1.06, 1.09, 1.13, 1.14) (You must lock your boot loader prior to the ruu. "fastboot oem lock") Run the ruu > update > root > new rom(Optional) > sim unlock again. Hope this helps

I am in Canada and my build number is 1.84.631.9 CL64348.
I did some research in other threads and what i seem to understand is that my phone is still bound to my carrier's updates unless I change the CID.... Tell me if i'm wrong.
And @Qs5 I'm not rooted yet and the bootloader isn't even unlocked, when i said i sim-unlocked my phone i was talking about the old fashioned way (with the unlock code).
