UK Release and Ship dates on pre-orders? And LG G4 Comparison Questions. - X Style (Pure) General

Does anybody have a clue when this is going to happen? I'm sick of waiting, the longer I wait the more I think I could just be purchasing an LG G4.
On that note, can anybody persuade me into NOT buying the G4? I mean aside from the back facing speaker there really is not that much different about it, right? I mean sure, you've got the not-so-useful water resistance, and the 1440p display (which isn't IPS and is supposedly obsoleted by the G4's display, especially in terms of power saving potential by comparison to the Style). And about those customization options.... is it really worth it to buy a Style when I could just as easily make my g4 look like this with a dbrand skin?

I fell in love when I saw the specs for the Style, but then I realised I'd have to pre-order it, and it's more expensive than a g4, and it's arguably not as good, especially in terms of the camera.... Some of those video and picture demonstrations of the G4 on youtube are mind blowing, but the Style seems to leave a lot to be desired, especially with those weird glowing light spots on video and image. I dunno, someone give me an opinionated rant on why the Moto X Style is better, I'm begging you.
Or.... is it a bad time to buy a device? Should I not just wait for the next generation of devices that contain the Snapdragon 820?

If you don't value near stock Android with Moto enhancements and hopefully quicker updates and the ability to take your phone to any carrier and better radios for cell reception and call quality then maybe the slightly better camera and removable battery of the G4 should interest you or wait for 2016 and the 820 processor.

G4 camera > MPX..actually not a wide gap but the manual controls of G4 pushes it ahead, particularly at night.
If you're on T-Mobile, G4 has wifi calling now; Moto won't have till M
I guess you can put removable battery but the Moto Turbo Charging is twice the speed of the G4's quick charging.
Besides that, nothing else would put the G4 over the Moto X

So yeah, anybody know when I'm going to be able to buy one of these things with all of the accessories through moto maker in the UK?

Motorola said that it would be available before the end of the month. No exact date given.

Id also like to know about the release date for the UK as i cant find any solid info yet

It appears many UK users have been chasing for a solid date on @motorolaUK for quite a while.
Judging from their tweet replies,
1. It should come out soon (likely to be before the end of month?)
2. TurboPower chargers are yet to be released for ordering online (hopefully it would be ready by pre-orders)
3. The waiting time between Moto Maker order date to delivery date is normally up to 12 working days.
4. Pre-order on Clove states that the first stock is due on 21 Sep.

What phone to buy

Hi boys and girls!
I was planning on buying the new Diamond 2 as soon as it hit the shelves here in Norway, but as HTC still thinks I should pay for the repair of an USB port which was DOA I have decided to try to find some other phone...
So - anyone have any good suggestions?
Cheers!
Nokia 5110
I prefer the lime green casing myself, but that is personal preference, as is selecting a device or a type of wine.

@ Red: Thanks for the suggestion, but I find it too small for my liking. My three "musts" are:
1. The handset need to be sturdy. If i forget my hammer, I need something to hit other drivers with.
2. Must come with its own backpack, and the fabric must be washable.
3. I sometimes use the phone in my care, so the top part must be possible to detach from the battery. There just isn't space in my estate car to have the battery in the front.
My best bet til now is this model:

haha great response. With all honesty go with something a bit inexpensive in the meantime if you are waiting for TP2 to be released in your country.
Actually, I'd rather go for something NOT from HTC...
Go for Touch Pro 2 or Toshiba TG01
Or buy the new HTC Touch HD ...
Thanks for the suggestion. Will have to have a look at the Toshiba. As for HTC, I'd really like to stuff the aforementioned phone (the Ericsson) somewhere the sun don't shine. Unfortunately, I think I will have to use "most people" as a baseline for sun-exposure, as I have a feeling these guys (?) do a lot of "work" on all fours
I understand your reluctance to get a HTC again I for one have a HD which is actually really good although when i first brought one it had 3 dead pixels and although htc wouldnt replace it the shop i brought it from would, now after 3 months or so my replacement has just developed a stuck pixel which I have never seen before I've has so many products with lcd screens and worked in a shop for a bit that sold them and only ever seen them come with a dead/stuck pixel. its not really noticeable but very annoying considering the price of the phone. So I was thinking thats the last time i buy a htc but then I realized there isn't any 1 else who makes anything near as good in terms of features and looks.
my first choice would be the hd
go for the HD or a super processor snapdragon on the Toshiba TG01

Panasonic ???
iPhone | ??? | GSII
Specs are actually unknown but they wanna make high end devices. All we know is that it will be dust/water resistant. Perfect for me. If I get any opportunity to change my OB, it will be a "PanaPhone".
CES 2012 will be great
It looks so much so like my old HTC diamond
Panasonic announced plans to launch its first global smartphone in Europe next year in March. Company has not sold mobile phones in Europe since January 2006.
In the announcement company has not declared its name but did say that this slim bezel phone features an ultra-slim D-shaped design for easy portability with a 4.3-inch qHD OLED screen and would be waterproof and dustproof. Other specs are undisclosed...........

Good to see them getting back into the smart phone game. More competition means better quality phones for all.
I look forward to seeing what they release in March.
panasonic phone looks like the Prada phone
That actually looks pretty good
they arrive a little late, hoping this won't affect their ambitions. It will also be very good if launch prices are not too high. I'm very interrested of that.
the price and how commen the components are would sell me on them.

Have to wonder how waterproof/dustproof will relate to repairing devices.
Some companies have made it easier (apple) but every android phone I have opened has been a hassle! Maybe they will just glue them shut so nobody can open them
I should say Jp's industrial design is great
It is a interesting sharing........
Always been a fan of Panasonic, let's hope these continue their line of excellent products.
The last and only time I had a Panasonic phone was back in the days when phones had external antennas!!
if panasonic can somehow get their LX5 camera with phone capability running Android ICS, I would buy that phone in a heart beat.
I like their design but sadly they never have a single phone that's run on my carrier's frequency band.

After having personally teased on Twitter , Luca Viscardi , aka Mister Gadget, returns to talk about Motorola Moto 360 , or better photographing live smartwatch the most anticipated ever.
The pictures really tell a thousand words, because thanks to them we can confirm with absolute certainty some characteristics of the smartwatch, but there are still some parts that are partly unknown or still has to be verified.
First of Motorola Moto 360 is not larger than LG G Watch as you can see in the images side by side, you can see clearly how the size of the two are easily comparable; rather, Moto 360, thanks to the circular shape, it also seems more compact or however less high.
Confirmed then the use of ' stainless steel ( 316L stainless steel ) to create the watch case, which is also waterproof with IP67 certification , and mounts an optical sensor heartbeat on the back side.
We also have the opportunity to observe the charging cradle, it will be inductive, and we note with pleasure that the strap version is portrayed in leather and not plastic, a material that seems far removed from this Moto 360.
Two further details have been confirmed by Mr. Gadget . Also the strap is interchangeable , so even if we liked the choice made at the time of purchase we can always change it later; In addition, and perhaps more importantly, the range is eye two and half times that of the G Watch.
Add to this the light sensor , the pedometer , and a price that is unlikely to be less than 250 € for the basic version, which will perhaps plastic strap.
Please note that, until proven otherwise, the presentation of the smartwatch is expected next month, at a date yet to be specified, but we hope, however, that the wait is worth to have a global launch, and not limited to the United States alone, also if the marketing is not obvious in the aftermath of the official announcement.
LG G Watch lasts a day, using it "very hard", while Moto 360 stays alive for two days and a half, with a use a little 'more modest is therefore reasonable to expect 3-4 days of battery life.
Looks nice. This IP67 should be applied to all android devices.

You do realise that's difficult because of the speakers, microphones and charging port?
Yeah it is. But overall it is a great deal.
Still looks like somebody wearing a hockey puck on their wrist.
When do they plan selling it..... I do like the two day battery life.
Oh god the HYYYYYPE best device ever made!
..... best device never made.

HTC One E8 - First impressions: Premium device disguised as a mid-tier phone

I've had the HTC One E8 for just over a week now and I am thoroughly impressed. The device has a premium display and chip-set at a mid-grade price. The curved edges of the poly-carbonate (plastic) back plate makes this device easy to hold without losing its visual appeal. On the back you will also find a 13 MP camera with a single tone flash. The face of the phone contains a 5 MP Selfie camera, 5” HD display, and two front facing speakers. The “Boomsound” front facing speakers can push out a great deal of sound without losing any sound quality.

Another amazing feature of this phone is Sprint Spark. If you have not had a chance to try out Spark you might be blown away by the data speeds you will see. This was my first time trying out Spark and I could not believe how much faster it is then my cable internet speeds. Check out Spark availability in your area.

The battery life is pretty good and typically lasts me the entire day. Also good to know that I am always playing with it so you might get way better battery life then I do. The US Sprint version comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4.2.

I have had my phone for a few days, and I have to say that I am impressed with the quality of this device for the price I paid.
Sound/speed is much better than my old Galaxy S3.
Multitasking is a snap, and I kind of like the HTC Sense UI.
Thinking of rooting this device, have you had the chance to root yet?

Many of us in India have rooted it, you can find the threads in the dev section and Q&A's also.
Running smooth, and yes , a great phone overall...
cheers.

Thanks for the feedback. Haven't really given rooting much thought.

[NEWS REPORT]Nokia Will Unveil 5 New Phones At MWC 2017

Hey everybody. Just want to let you know that my Uncle William, actually works at Nokia in the UK at the moment, for helping Nokia release their 5 New phones. (Just like Sony..) He will probably be attending as one of the Nokia section host's at Barcelona, bit I'm not 100% sure on that, as He hasn't made a clear statment yet on that, and also that I live in NZ.[emoji14]Below are 2 phones that he knows about that are being released soon, and announced at MWC 2017. The other 3 will have specs between the first and second phone below.
A lot of leaks toward another Nokia phone, the Nokia 8, is also going to be one of, but since most of the specs are already leaked, I won't share that info.
Also note that all 5 of the phones that will be unveiled at MWC 2017 will have 4G LTE Connectivity.
The first phone will be called the "Nokia IP1." The Specs are as followed down below. (Note that * means may/may not.)
-6GB RAM
-4G LTE
-Android 7.1
-Selection up to 256GB of built-in storage
-QHD Screen*
-3400Mah Battery*
-Snapdragon 835*
-Water & Dust Resistance* (The name "IP" sort of hints it.)
My uncle basically told me these info above about how it will definitely have 4G, Android 7.1, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but unsure about the rest. I can definitely say however that this will be certainly the new Nokia flagship phone of 2017, as the specs of the IP1 is miles ahead better than the already out Nokia 6. The price he told me will just be a little more than the Nokia 6. Having said that, he hasn't told me by how much "little" nore it will cost, but I would guess that it would cost under $350US, or even lower if were lucky.
He didn't send me any photos as he hasn't seen the phone for it self yet.
...Now the second phone is actually a fun one. The next phone is called the Nokia Retro, or alternatively called the new Nokia 3310. Now there aren't yet any official specs given on this phone apart from it's 4G Capability, price tag and RAM capacity, as he doesn't know much about the specs by himself, (He hasn't been given any info.) however, we may see this phone in the lower spec section than the IP1 as the price of the Retro/3310 will be ~168 Pounds. The specs are as followed..
-2GB RAM
-4G LTE
-Snapdragon 650/652*
-2800Mah Battery*
-Android 7.0 OR 7.1*
Having said that, he has also sent me a picture of what the phone will probably look like. Note that the picture he sent me, he had explained that the image is a mockup of what the actual phone will look like, which why I asked him why there was a picture of the Android Lollipop Homescreen in the phone. But personally looking at the design, I do like the nostalgic design of the phone! (Please don't start and say that I have photoshopped this. I'm not that good with photoshop. ) Hope you guys enjoy this news post. If you don't believe me, then I guess we can just wait and see what happens at MWC 2017 at Barcelona on the 26th February! Cheers.
