[Mod]Lollipop OG5 Adjustable 4x4,4x5,5x5 TouchWiz screen [Updated 09/18/15] - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Themes and Apps

This is was tested on a Lollipop OG5 5.1.1 system. Do not try this on any other version of android.
I decided this needs it's own thread. It is something nifty that I felt should be shared. If followed this will place an adjustable TouchWiz launcher (a la Galaxy S6) on your Note 4.
Update 09/18/15: This is NOW a flashable zip. I've done all the old manual steps for you in the zip. This has been tested on my own Sprint Note 4. There should now be no issues or confusion on how to do this.
To install
Make a NANDROID.
Download the attached TouchWizHome_Zero.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Flash TouchWizHome_Zero.zip
Clear cache and Dalvik cache.
Reboot.
When you reboot it will ask you for a default launcher to use. Don't set the default until you're sure this is working. So choose TouchWizHome and use the "just once" option to test it.
Reboot again and select the new TouchWiz launcher as your default if everything is ok.
Profit.
To uninstall: flash the TouchWizHome_Zero_Uninstaller.zip.
This is literally as detailed as you can get on how to do this. If you follow this you will have a working S6 Launcher on your note 4.

Uninstaller (return to stock):

Thanks for this. I was doing it wrong before.

Make a NANDROID.
Download the attached TouchWizHome_ZERO_Albe95.zip to your pc.
Copy the extracted folder called TouchWizHome_ZERO to your sd card.
Using root explorer move the TouchWizHome_ZERO folder to /system/priv-app/
Using root explorer change the permissions for TouchWizHome_ZERO folder to chmod 0755 (see screenshot for the root explorer check marks.)
Using root explorer enter the TouchWizHome_ZERO folder.
Using root explorer change the permissions for TouchWizHome_Zero.apk to chmod 0644 (see screenshot for the root explorer check marks.)
Using root explorer change the permissions for the lib folder to chmod 0755 (see the screenshot for the root explorer check marks)
Using root explorer enter the lib folder.
Using root explorer change the permissions for the arm folder to chmod 0755 (see the screenshot for the root explorer check marks)
Using root explorer enter the arm folder.
Using root explorer change the permissions for the libdaliapp.so file to chmod 0644 (see the screenshot for the root explorer check marks)
Using root explorer change the permissions for the libvsync.so file to chmod 0644 (see the screenshot for the root explorer check marks)
Using root explorer back out to /system/priv-app/ again.
Using root explorer copy the TouchWizHome factory folder (NOT the new one you just installed! LOL!) to your SDCARD so you can return to stock if you want.
Using root explorer DELETE the TouchWizHome factory folder in /system/priv-app/
Reboot to recovery.
Clear cache and Dalvik cache.
Reboot.
When you reboot it will ask you for a default Launcher to use. Don't set the default until you're sure this is working. So use the "just once" option to test it.
When you enter the new TouchWiz screen you will notice that the "grid" option is greyed out. Change your wallpaper to something else than what it currently is and back again if you wish. This will fix this issue and the grid option will be available.
Reboot again and select the new TouchWiz launcher as your default if everything is ok.
Profit.
This is literally as detailed as you can get on how to do this. If you follow this you will have a working S6 Launcher on your note 4.

It worked fine for me and others. As I said this isn't my work and although there haven't been many replies to this thread stating it does work for them I have seen others using it just fine. My advice to you is go back and re-read the instructions carefully. This does work.

I exactly follow all the steps but the grid option is still greyed out. Works directly in 5x5 mode.

Switch your wallpaper to something else. Try clearing cache and dalvik cache.
Can anyone else confirm this works? I had absolutely no issue when I did this. It would help if we had more people than just me and one other confirming this works. If not I'll just close the thread.
I made this as detailed as I possibly could and I know this works. But I simply cannot be any more detailed. The only thing that could have happened is you missed a step and without me being there to do it for you or watch you do it I just cannot help you further.
I suppose I could make a flashable zip that does all of this for you but honestly i didn't want to turn this into a project. I just thought my instructions would be enough.

I just tried this and my grid option is grayed out. I changed wallpaper to a default with no change. Going to try deleting cache and dalvic now. I also did have it crash on me. Bringing me out of 5x5 back into 4x4 cleared touchwiz and it came back to 5x5.
I do not believe i missed a step but going back to re read to make sure
All done and no luck. Grid is grayed out. Changing wallpaper and wiping cache and dalvic again made no difference. I did not see i missed any steps. I did notice that it never asked me to make touchwiz the default. Also sprint id keeps coming up saying it failed. . Not sure what that is

Try changing the image to something that isn't a default image. Like a downloaded pic. Also if you deleted TouchWizHome and did not RENAME TouchWizHome_ZERO to TouchWizHome then it would definitely ask you which launcher you wanted to make a default as it would no longer see TouchWizHome in /system/priv-app/.
It appears you renamed TouchWizHome_ZERO to TouchWizHome. Don't do this.
Also another thing to check is to make sure you have chmod 0755 as the permissions for the FOLDERS and chmod 0644 for the files within.
I'm just going to make a flashable zip. This is becoming a bigger deal than I intended.
To be clear...if you have a folder named TouchWizHome in system/priv-app you did this wrong. As for your sprint id this has nothing to do with it. This is simply a launcher. No different than installing Nova laucher or any launcher you get from google play.

Nope i did not rename it. I copied the original to my sd card than deleted it. Nrever touched the new one.
Double checked all permissions and they are as should be.
I changed background to a pic as well as a default with no difference made. Perhaps it is my rom?
Ok changed both home screen and lock scrern and rebooted and grid is now available.. did get both touchwiz has crashed and sprint id crashed though. .
Might have to go back to backup. . Too bad

What ROM are you running? And if there was no default launcher (aka TouchWizHome is gone) Android should ask you what would you like to make the default launcher. I've made the zip. I'm backing my phone up and testing it right now.
I would try clearing the default for the launcher and then wiping cache/dalvik in recovery and rebooting. I really am confused how a launcher would play into your sprint id.
I'm wiping my phone and I'm going to flash this zip on a clean system. Then I will post the results.

It works perfectly. All I did was flash the zip and clear dalvik cache/cache and rebooted. I didn't even have to change the walpaper/lockscreen wallpaper.

This is now a flahable zip. restore your backup and download the zip. flash it in recovery. Wipe Cache/Dalvik cache. reboot. I just tested this. It works flawlessly. I didn't even have to change the wallpaper. If you're still having issues it has to be your ROM. Are you running 5.1.1? I did notice that I didn't say this was required. I have since corrected the OP to state this.
reread the updated OP just to be sure.

Any chance to fix "active apps" widget for GN4 N910C? If I place it to touchwiz desktop, its the only icon being below others breaking row level. You can place that widget(gn4 stock original one) to your touchwiz screen and see Tested primarily in 5x5 mode. If fixed, then would be great.
Also would be great to get loop scrolling back, like Samsungs original one was(when scroll to last tab and then scroll again forward, goes to the first one).
Also quick navigation doesn't work. Mean dotted tab number at the bottom doesnr switch dirrectly to choosen tab(page or how its called right) in both home screen and all apps mode.
Huge thanks to OP for a nice work! Standard Samsung's 4x4 is not enough

Unfortunately everything you've mentioned is a result of this being a port of the S6. You should expect some incompatibilities. The dotted tab advances when you click on the next. Again it's a port. It's not going to be perfect.

Working vary well on hybrid 3.0 with note 5 theme thank you..

If I'm right. The alliance rom is not up to the OG5 version yet. You will get errors and wouldn't be surprised if it grows worse over time. There is one out there still for the version you are on. I had used it on that rom. Hope that helps of why you had the error on boot up.

[APP] Newest MIUI Music .apk (4/11/11)

Hey here's a link to another thread with the newest MIUI Music .apk (4/11/11)
Here
Only issue I've noticed is when you go into the settings, if you try to scroll down to see "Filter files", it force closes the app. Hopefully someone can come up with a fix, but everything else seems to work so, enjoy! - zmag
(P.S. Show me some love and hit the THANKS button!)
Cool stuff I'm running it now with CM7 Final. I've always liked the MIUI music app.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
awesome, thanks. Now how do I remove the other one? CM7
Anyone know where there is an installable apk?
alaman68: you can remove the original cm7 music .apk from system/app with Root Explorer (or a similar app to access the system files...) or you can move it to the system folder or SD card in case you want it again.
nhutpham: as far as I know, you can NOT just click on the .apk and "Install" it. The link I posted has pretty specific directions to install it with Root Explorer. Just make sure you set the permissions like in the pic before you reboot, or it won't show up in the app drawer.
If you're still having trouble lemme know. - zmag
Pushed it to /system/app on my Sense ROM and it doesn't show up in the app drawer. Did a hot restart and a full reboot. No app icon and no widget.
I have tried the exact instructions twice, but the app didn't appear in the app drawer either time. I'm on a sense based rom using Launcher Pro, MIUI music hasn't been previously installed on the current rom I'm using.
The previous MIUI apk's have been installable, I might just wait till another one shows up.
hey, thanks again. I'm getting weird force close when I open the settings and try to scroll down to search file size. Does anyone have any idea how the change these parameters?
Wont work for me either... followed the instructions to a tee

Thx magnus your the man
Works great for me, other than the FC bug when you scroll down in settings. Installed with Root Explorer.
Thanks for this.

I am not sure, but I think I am just having bad luck. It crashes every time I go into the settings (as soon as I hit the button). I had to reboot just to get it out of notification bar.
Well, to the people getting force closes in the settings: I did state that in my original post lol... but yeah, not a huge deal imo. I think the coding for Filter Files (where if you try to display that section in the settings, it force closes) because its codependency relies on a MIUI-specific library. I am running this on CM7 Final, and everything works ok except that section of the settings.
And to the best of my knowledge, MIUI is built on Gingerbread (2.3) and won't work on Sense based roms (sorry Sense users)
And big ups to Magnus for the update.zip for people who couldn't get it to install.

[MOD] Stock mod, clutter cleanup.

So, I put together a couple of flashable zips for use on a stock phone. I've been using these for a little while now, and feel comfortable enough about them working to share.
Basically it just removes a bunch of stuff that comes pre-installed on your phone, and replaces your stock Sense launcher with either the stock Gingerbread launcher or Go Launcher EX.
I personally like GO the best out of all the launchers available, but until I had this phone I didn't have a piece of hardware capable of using GO to it's fullest. Now that I can, I love it.
Special thanks goes out to:
Undeadk9 for compiling the stock Gingerbread apps from Google.
computerkid23 for letting me use his update-binary file & market version.
*These mods are mostly just working examples. Someone will probably find them useful, I do, but they were primarily posted to support my info thread on edify scripting notes.
*We can see that these actions can be accomplished in a small enough file to be posted to the board as an attachment, yet this also means we rely on the user's stock software being intact.
*If someone has already removed an app, these zips will not replace them. Exception being launcher, calculator, music and if Mod02 then the market as well.
*If something has already been deleted, then it just gets ignored when the script gets to it. It won't throw an error if it tries to delete something that's not there.
On to the description of what's being done:
Here's what's removed:
-Themes, Live wallpapers
-Widgets:
Both tips widgets, all the widgets that don't work when you stop using the sense launcher.
Calculator, calendar, mail, photogrid, photo widget, setup widget and weather widget.
-Following apps:
AppSharing, Adobe Reader, Android Notes, Bejeweled, doubletwist, Flickr, Friendstream, Facebook, Picasa, Netflix, Slacker Radio, Swype, Twitter, Zinio.
-And:
Mail, Media Room, HTC Setup Wizard, Car Home, HTC Music + Enhancer, Google quick search box.
-Also:
T-Mobile TV, Name ID, App-Pack, Mobile Backup, T-Mobile Carbon Backup, Qik (video chat), Tmobile Navigator.
Click to collapse
What's replaced:
-Calculator...broken stock calculator replaced with the gingerbread calculator.
-Music - replaced with the stock gingerbread music app.
Click to collapse
The only difference between the two flashable zips:
In Mod 01:
-Sense launcher replaced with the stock Gingerbread launcher...keeps the stock market.
In Mod 02:
-Sense launcher replaced with GO Launcher EX, computerkid23 market replaces the stock version.
You still keep the T-Mobile "My account" app, the stock weather app, and a handful of other thngs:
-Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Flashlight, FM Radio, Gallery, GMail, Messages, Phone, polaris Office, Quick Lookup, Voice recorder and search, Weather, Wifi calling, wifi hotspot and youtube.
All stock TV connection software is still good and ready, as well as the stock browser.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Pre-requisits:
-Stock phone, no custom ROMs
-Clockworkmod 4.0.0.9
-Clockworkmod backup of your phone before flashing this zip
-Backup of any user data, such as phone numbers or notes
-Fully charged battery.
-Download and put in the main directory of your sdcard:
+ Blue6IX_Mod01 -or- Blue6IX_Mod02
To install:
-Un-plug the phone from any chargers or cables
-Reboot to recovery
-Select 'install zip from sdcard'
-Select 'choose zip from sdcard'
-Select 'Blue6IX_Mod01.zip' (( or Mod02 if thats what you downloaded ))
-Select 'Yes - Install Blue6IX_Mod01.zip'
-Press the hardware back button to get back to the main CWM menu
-Select 'reboot system now'
-IMPORTANT LAST STEP:
-Leave the phone alone for 5 minutes after it finishes booting up. Don't play with it or make it do anything, just let it sit and settle.
It's still building the data partition and re-writing your cache memory, if you play with it before this finishes you could get errors down the line. You won't see all this happening, so just be patient and wait a few minutes.
...and that's it. All done.
-ONE LAST NOTE:
* The clockworkmod backup of your data is important, as this installation file will simulate a factory reset during it's execution. This means any data that's on the phone will be wiped clean, so if you don't back it up before you start you will lose it.
Enjoy!
Reserved in case I need it.
Meantime, i'd like to say thank you to all the people working so hard to develop ROMs and software for our phone.
Thanks!

However when I try to install, I get 'Application not installed'

I like to know things, just to know how they are done too - so I can appreciate the sentiment of wanting to know even if just for being curious.
I don't like having google talk on my phone either - but you will find that you need it to show certain apps in the google market.
You mentioned you had root explorer, which is awesome. If there was one tool you needed to pay for to really work with your phone on your phone, that is it.
Since I know you can follow along, let's look at what it takes to get rid of Gtalk.
First you have to know what the .apk file is, if it has an .odex file, and where the data directory is. Check my Reference to find that out.
Here is the entry for Google Talk:
Talk
Version: 1.3
983.17KB - /system/app/Talk.apk
/data/data/com.google.android.talk
Click to collapse
So we can see one .apk file, no .odex file, and one data directory.
1 - Kick up root explorer on your phone and go to /system/app and delete Talk.apk
2 - Still in root explorer, navigate to /data/data and find the folder named com.google.android.talk - delete this folder.
3 - Reboot phone into recovery mode. Once in clockworkmod:
4 - Clear cache from the main CWM menu, by selecting 'wipe cache partition' and then saying yes on the next page.
5 - Clear dalvik-cache. From the main CWM menu choose 'advanced' then 'wipe dalvik cache' then 'yes'. After it's done, hit back then 'reboot system now' from the main cwm menu.
That should be it and talk is now removed from your device.
To re-install Talk:
I attached a copy of the stock talk.apk - if you want to re-install it and were having trouble, try it this way:
1 - Download the attachment to this post, get it on your phone.
2 - Open root explorer, find Talk.apk and copy it. Paste it into /system/app
3 - Once Talk.apk is in /system/app, in root explorer long-press on it to get a menu of options. Choose permissions.
4 - Change the permissions to read:
-Owner - Checked boxes = Read + Write
-Group - Checked box = Read
-Others - Checked box = Read
-Bottom row of permissions all unchecked.
After hitting "ok" you should see that the Talk.apk permissions look like all the other files in /system/app, where it says rw-r--r-- under the file name.
5 - Exit root explorer, then reboot your phone into recovery mode.
6 - Clear cache from the main CWM menu, by selecting 'wipe cache partition' and then saying yes on the next page.
7 - Clear dalvik-cache. From the main CWM menu choose 'advanced' then 'wipe dalvik cache' then 'yes'. After it's done, hit back then 'reboot system now' from the main cwm menu.
That's it, you now have Talk re-installed on your phone.
You won't be able to find google talk on the market, even if you log in from a computer and aren't signed in to an account.
Let me know if that's what you needed, or if you have any other questions.
I want to use this but im having hell getting these 4.0.0.9 line commands to work. Ive tried everything line for line but no success. any suggestions?

Since you're rooted you can get rid of it by just deleting the app from /system/app, using something like Root Explorer, but why bother? As long as AWD is set to default then the other launcher won't even run after a reboot (unless it's TouchWiz - I've been informed that that does run, so you need to delete all the widgets from the screens first.)
Generally, whenever I change launcher I tend to remove everything possible from the previous one I was using, just in case it ever does run for some reason.
ok cause the reason i ask is because if i were to do a factory restore it would delete adw because its an app, so that means when i start up it will say foreclose and ill have to find an apk and drop it into the phone and install. is it possible to make it cm7, ware its not an app, its a default launcher?
You're basically talking about making your own ROM. That's the only way to pick and choose what's included in it.
I downloaded adw ex and pushed it into system/app and installed, i clicked home and selected adw ex as default launcher, i turned off my phone and flashed a zip i found here on xda that deletes sense rosie apk and launcher, rebooted and now my phone is running off adw ex, i did a factory reset to see if it still works and it did. by moving the app into the system/app it cant be deleted unless i go inside and delete it. thanks for all your help guys
Cool. I will try on my tablet.

So you just moved the apk to system/app and installed it from there?
Yes, I as running HTC.launcher so I completely deleted that and now my adw is my stock launcher, the reason I moved it to system is because if you install it like a regular app what happens if you do a factory reset or it accedintaly gets deleted, in system app its now apart of your rom, and to prove that go to settings then applications, you will see that regualr apps can be deleted but system apps cant, all it offers is to delete updates, you would need titanium backup to delete system apks , so that's why I moved it to system/app, (push Adw to system/app and install)

da-pharoahs ROM Guide - G2X tweaks / mods / apps

Hellions
all things related to Da-pharoah's rom's and other G2X tweaks / fixes / add-ons
This is the place where we ease the burden on da-pharoah and utilize open source for its' intended purpose...to help one another for FREE! Kinda like kickin apple, windows, etc. directly in the balls. Please ask your questions regarding issues here. If we can not figure it out, they will be forwarded to the master. While this is an open thread there are a few rules:
1.) Stop what you are doing and go thank da-pharoah...we'll wait.....
2.) READ!!!!! and when you think you've read enough....READ some more!
3.) No complaining about tweaks the DEV built into the ROM. More than likely it is just eye candy which is easily removed. Personally, most enjoy the eye candy and is what separates DEV's from each other. Remember, they do this for us for free and could easily dev their rom as they like it and share it with no one. If you do not like something, o.k. ill say it i.e. flames, just read up on how to change it.
4.) Do not mention how much you love some other rom and are going back....just go back. At this point we already know you work for LG.
5.) For specific issue's regarding rom's daily driver performance or if you find something that has helped, please submit via xda PM to myself or Pharoah so we can keep the thread clean and reader friendly. If you like certain themes, apps, apps that created an issue, etc. you can post here with screen shots. Let's open it up a bit but stay on task.
For the noobies, not a bad word we were all there too, please seek-out other threads for CWM / rooting issues. These have been addressed by some great dev's on here. Give them their due and seek-out the answers on their threads; thanking them appropriately.
Here we go........
HELPFUL HINTS:
1.) DO NOT use CWM mount/storage to load zip files onto your SD. There has been a known issue with CWM corrupting the files during transfer. Use a stick/adapter and load directly from PC.
2.) Ensure you have at least 80% battery left
3.) DO NOT touch the phone for AT LEAST for ten minutes after first boot. Allow the ROM to move in before changing the furniture.
4.) Complete several on/off cycles BEFORE you report an issue.
5.) Reboot at least once daily so that things can get moved back to their proper spots after the party. This will extend your honeymoon phase.....
6.) UPDATE your apps when installing an updated rom!!!!! Apps are one of the biggest causes of issue's with new roms as the app dev's struggle to keep-up with the master. Worst case you have to uninstall and re-install some apps.
7.) Open MAPS/GPS outside for the first time....it works!!!!!!
8.) SEEK your answer first...i.e. slow data - check your settings, is the proper one checked, cycle through them all to see if it repairs itself, etc.
9.) When in doubt wipe it out, fix the permissions and reboot
10.) Ensure you have updated super user (super user update fixer - tx Thibor) and checked unknown sources under applications.
11.) Load the correct gapps...directly after rom and before first boot.
12.) If you get random data loss or are connected to data but an app or net says you are not toggle between airplane mode and norm a couple times to fix it. If this does not fix the issue, do a few data cycles (2g-3g and vice versa, etc.). If these do not work or you have worse reception/data with new rom, d/l getRIL from the market and follow the instructions.
13.) If you have done it all and first boot isn't running right...do it over but skip Google load on first run. Follow through everything else, let sit, reboot then load. If you are still having issue's then, and only then, should you be asking for help.
14.) If all resources are exhausted and you are standing on a ledge....ask away but please, please include what you have done to your phone after ruining its' Virginesque state. i.e. ov'd, uc'd, donkey punched, v6'd, dropped in the toilet, changed kernels, etc. We use this info to compare with other known issues or to try and replicate your exception/process failure while "seeing" what the source of the issue is.
***These are just SUGGESTIONS - don't be the one moron who asks why it is so or that you've never done these and your phone could beat up my phone, etc. If you use them great, if you do not great, if you lit yourself on fire great........etc., etc.

HellFire Phoenix (CM7) Rom stuff/mods/updates:
So since this seems to be turning into the all in one thread, ill go ahead and post the lil 'updates' that I did for HFP as well as the collection of such based in the threads of HFP & HFS.
I have changed the pattern lock screen to red instead of the green. If you use it cool, if not no worries. I thought I'd share because I know alot of people who use the pattern lock screen and I think the red flows better then the green and I also changed the PB text to HFP in the notifications bar. Here is the link in that thread. Or just d/l the attachment and flash via CWM. Always make a nandroid backup just in case however!
I have also attached the file for the livewallpapers.apk to show the new update for HFP. It originally had the PB images but I changed it to a more HF theme, kinda. All you have to do with this is use root explorer (or similar root file explorer) and copy/paste this into the /system/app location. Make sure that you make your system RW and then before pasting rename the original to livewallpaper.apk.bak, just in case. now once its pasted into that location long press on it to make sure the permissions are correct they should look like a backwards '7' or like this:
x x 0
x 0 0
x 0 0
Then reboot and enjoy!
More for HFP. Also these are all flashable via CWM unless otherwise noted.:
Here is the Blueflames Mod done by MWBehr.
Here is the Red Flames Mod for HFP.
Here is an another framework-res.apk mod for ICS animations for HFP done by IRASadPanda but it also seems like it may be a little bit of a battery drainer too.
Here is a mod by Taine0 that is a Status bar/notification mod that centers the clock and icon switch - CM7/gingerbread - update
Here are some links for the all the gapps updates for both CM7 and CM9 or try here too or here as well <- Neither of these are not themed by Hell, btw.. and last but not least you could just download this app from the market (thanks for pointing this out kesara) and go that route, its called Goo-inside.me beta
Here is a MOD to get better sounding audio. Its the ported Beats Audio by Dre for ALL GB roms.
HellFire Sandwhich (CM9) Rom stuff/mods/updates:

Here is a alternative launcher to Trebuchet Launcher thats only for Android 4+, ref'd by benyben123 and created by dennisxl. its called Apex Launcher Beta.
Attached is an updated music.apk I found. Its the MIUI music app. Only drawback is doesnt look like it has a widget for the music app for some reason.. ill look into getting a fix for that. It now shows the music on the phone and SD card. But I dont believe it has the widget.. so temp fix for now. Just replace with root explorer using the copy/paste method (make sure to mount system as RW) and make sure permissions are the backwards 7 or like this:
x x 0
x 0 0
x 0 0
then reboot and all is great!!
Mods/Eye candy for both HFP & HFS
These are also all flashable via CWM unless otherwise noted.:
Here is the slightly updated version of the HF boot animation LWP done by jblah. Still is the first one with the all black background. I figured since he does pimp work might as well showcase everything, plus the new one is completely different so I really like this one for a LWP versus the actually new boot ani for the LWP. So really all I did was just update the logo and change some text in the settings.xml but just install and good to go. Btw its got a different name so just uninstall the other one (if you have that one installed) and you'll be good to go. also if for some reason after you select it and if for some reason you get a fc, just reboot and should be all good... it is attached below btw, its titled 'HFLiveWall12.apk'
2/27/12 updated to show right icon and smaller image size.
3/07/12 updated icon again and text in settings.xml.
Also some the sigs I have done so far.. feel free to use.

Restored SMS/MMS messages / no 4G
Question for the gurus- hopefully someone can help.
Has anyone figured out how to get mobile data to work after restoring SMS/MMS messages?
I read in the development section that this mobile data problem was connected with restoring the SMS/MMS messages via TB. I restored my text messages when I first installed HFS 1.1, and haven't been able to establish my 4G connection ever since. (It's been a week since I've been trying to figure this out, and I've been relying solely on Wifi for data connections- goo when at home, bad while away.)
I went as far as to install the new 1.2 version after wiping my cache and dalvik, to no avail.
The other suggested steps like rebooting, fixing permissions, and toggling Airplane Mode have already been tried, and the result remains unchanged.
Is there any way that the Mobile data can be restored, outside of having to wipe everything and reflash, and not have access to my archive of text messages?
Would it be possible for the necessary components to be reinstalled that would resolve the 4G problem while I retain my messages that I've restored from TB?

Try using mybackup to restore sms/mms instead of TB. Just make sure to reboot after your restore.. I've had success there and it has not affected my data connection....
Thanks for the quick response!

OK, I will check it out and follow your suggestion to the letter. Thanks, Pharoah.
I already have SMS Backup+ that backs up my messages to my Gmail account. That's cool and I can use that to restore my messages, but I'd prefer a local SMS/MMS backup/restore solution. That way I wouldn't have to wait hours for the messages to download and restore like I usually have to do with SMS Backup+. (that is the one step I dread when flashing a new ROM- arghhh...)
Just when I thought that I finally found an effective workaround to that tedious process, this happens.
In the meantime, I guess I can't avoid having to wipe everything and reflash, right? If that's my only option, then that's what I'll have to do. I love this ROM and the multitude of features it has (Props to Hell and the whole team that keeps the Hellfire ROM sharps and updates coming. Having on point devs is truly a blessing!)
However, after I get TB back online, I'll back up the system data so I can restore the fresh version if the situation comes up again somehow.
Right on sounds good, but just to be clear do a backup in cwm for your system and TB for your personal apps plus app data...

[APP] 4.4.3 Google Dialer for stock. NO NOVA NEEDED

I extracted the 4.4.3 Google Dialer from the GSM variant of Eclipse v.3.3 Rom to see if it would work on stock as my dialer. To my surprise I found out that I can replace the stock dialer with this one. It also creates a shortcut in the app drawer directly to the new dialer and gets rid of the old one with close to no problems. So use the launcher of your choice, delete that Activity making widget App and get on with your life! This is the closest the stock Moto X has gotten to a full Google Dialer port.
This works on XT1058, XT1056, XT1053, XT1049, XT1060 but has not been confirmed on other variants (Yet. Let me know if this works on yours... I like to watch....) This may work on devices running 4.4.2+
Also, this probably does not activate Google Caller ID...
Prerequisites:
Root (duh)
Write Protection disabled
A root file explorer (I used ES File Explorer.... Just in case you were wondering)
A Moto X :good:
Bugs:
Probably not ART compatible (I don't use it so maybe someone could tell me)
Navigation soft keys may disappear (But I'm using Gravity Box for my keys so who knows...)
Installation:
1. Make a NANDROID!!!
2. Download this .apk file ---> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9utJpuCI7_EekU4OWtLTzg0dHM/edit?usp=sharing
3. Using a root file explorer: Copy over to system/priv-app and overwrite Dialer.apk (the stock one)((everything is going to be ok, just breathe))
4. Set permissions of the newly copied .apk to rw- r-- r--
5. Click on the .apk and install (not sure if this helps as it gives an "app not installed" message)
6. Reboot
7. Call your mother and tell her thank you for putting up with all your shenanigans over the years
If you run into force closes use this tutorial to help you

This is the first time I have EVER posted any mods or apps or anything so please be patient with me if any problems come up. And just like your grades in high school, it isn't my fault if YOU screwed this up by not following instructions.
I just installed the apk and it worked. It overwrote my current dialer and replaced it with this. I made a test call but don't know how it'll handle incoming calls. I was having issues with my stock dialer where I'd get force closes when someone called me and I missed it then I clicked their numbers and it would force close. Hopefully this fixed it.

Only thing I see changed is in-call dialer. Hence "slightly".
Edit: the DPI has been shrunk a bit too. Here are screenshots of the in call ui. The first two are the old dialer and the latter are the ones from the the new one.

3) Open Root Explorer and Move Dialer.odex to the sdcard
4) Open Settings, goto Apps, All tab, select Dialer and Clear Cache
4) Open Root Explorer and Move|Copy downloaded Dialer.apk to system\priv-app\Dialer.apk and accept the overwrite (make sure the permissions are set to rw--r--r--, if not, press and hold the Dialer.apk and then select Permissions)
5) Reboot your phone and launch the Dialer, dial your own number, there should be no FC's (if there is a FC you didn't remove the Dialer.odex from system/priv-app or you didn't clear your Dialer cache)
If you screwed up and can't get Dialer working follow these steps to restore:
1) Panic
2) Don't Panic anymore
3) Open Titanium Backup and restore the Dialer.apk (It will be located at Google Dialer 1.1)
4) Open Root Explorer and Move Dialer.apk from system\app to system\priv-app\Dialer.apk and overwrite if it asks
5) Reboot your phone and launch the Dialer, dial your own number, there should be no FC's

Works fine on my XT1053, installed using root explorer replacing the old dialer.

I'll be the brave soul that attempts to use this on the GSM developer edition model (XT1053)
Edit:
<Insert obligatory house burned down joke>

Awesome... Good job getting this working on your device!
Seeing the quote chains makes me realize how indecisive I am when writing tutorials
Haha the first post is pretty much how you do it. If you've ever installed this dialer before it's pretty much the same process except for overwriting the old dialer. I just wonder why you ran into FC's.. At any rate I could add your contribution to the op

Right, I just wanted to provide an in-depth tutorial that tries to deter installation/repair questions
If you think it would be helpful to add it to the OP then I have no problems with it
Thanks SO MUCH! This is the first of these Google Dialer apps that doesn't constantly FC on my phone (rooted RW X). Everything just works.
YES!
Also, this does include Google Caller ID and "nearby places" but you can disable both.

I think it just says that Google Caller ID is on (for in-call reverse lookup of businesses, Google+ members, etc.) but it actually doesn't work because that feature is handled by Teleservice.apk in the Nexus and GPE roms. Our Teleservice.apk is different and doesn't do that (in fact, it's a pain in the butt to work with) and handles more basic functionality just like any other phone. I have tried to get it to install using different methods but it always blocks calls or FC's the systemui and phone. I'm still looking though!
As for "nearby places" (business search) this works completely as all of those functions are held within the dialer itself.

So if a business calls me, this will not find and display the caller ID like on a Nexus?
Sent from my XT1053
