There are few phone in market has Finger print sensors - like One plus 2, Elephone p8000, UMI harmar, etc.. We wanted all the phone user should have a access to finger print sensor without the sensor, so we made the first app which can use the camera and act as a finger print sensor.
We made a simple application which can use the Camera Sensor and Un-lock the locked Apps.
If the Finger print is failed to detect, automatically the Pattern lock or Number lock will open and ask the password.
Unlock the app thru your fingers.
Finger prints are Encrypted by default.
Choose the option which way you want to unlock the apps ? Finger print ? Numbers or Pattern?
Requirement for Finger print - All you need a good Camera with Flash, I believe 8Pix Camera with Flash can do the real job.

It would be a great idea if it uses actual fingerprint sensor for unlocking apps.

That's what I thought it was until I opened the play store page and watched the video.. 5-10 seconds to verify a fingerprint using a camera or less than 1 second to verify it using the integrated fingerprint sensor. I know which one makes far more sense!

Great idea....appreciate the hardwork

For everyone using CM or any of the custom roms and miss the fingerprint scanner... this is actually a nice substitute.
Can you let us know about privacy and if the data is stored locally or if it calls home?

privacy
We encrypt the User Finger prints and we don't save any of the user datas..

Is there a fingerprint security app ?

Hi all,
Is there a security app out there that allows fingerprint login, as well as unlock.
thks.....
I don't see how that can be possible? THere's no fingerprint reader on the HD2, unless its hidden very well
What do you think this phone is? a futuristic phone made in 2030? lol
How about ear-print recognition via multi-touch?

Before you mock too much, my guess is the original question is being asked because the LG eXpo phone supports this (albeit by a specific finger print reader built into the navigation rocker). It uses this finger print read instead of a password on the unlock screen (very cool).
I'm not sure whether this function could be applied to a section of the touchscreen on the HD2 as I imagine the specific finger print reading technology is quite different from a capacitative screen interpreting a press...
missing hardware, therefore impossible.
I don't think it's such an outrageous question.
Supposedly LG already implemented this feature, so it can be done.
Could fingerprint recognition software be developed based on barcode reading software?
If so, I think there might very well still be an issue with using the camera for fingerprint recognition if you'd want to use it for device access purposes.
Being "logged off" the camera would be logged off too I guess...
But hey, a lot of wizzkids frequent these forums...
Facial recognition would be possible I think.... er... it would also be easier if there was a 2nd front camera!
Honestly, I dont need it... but it would be cool I guess and some people would. I use EWallet for all my sensitive stuff...

erm.. actually japanese phones have had these features for the past 2 - 3 years already...
They also have facial recognition access.. and also various gesture unlocking features...
The screen can only detect areas os pressure, not the individual parts needed for fingerprint. The LG one I assume works by sliding your finger over the joystick?

The fingerprint capable Japanese and Korean phones have built in dedicated fingerprint sensors.

You spot on! We just need a good developer to take in initiative.
The HTC sedna (which has its own section here) has a fingerprint scanner.

The iPaq pocket pc already did it BUT.. yes.. BUT that is hardware dependent. Fingerprint scanners are hardware depended. Don't ask too much.. If you are talking about using the camera as a fingerprint regconition scanner, I wouldn't rely on it too much.. its like using the camera as a name card scanner.. not accurate enough..besides, it would be a hassle to aim the camera to the finger just to unlock the device..
facial recognition is totally different from fingerprint sensor.
if you recognise fingerprint (which is far more complex than just facial expression) then you are probably going to recognise a dozen (or more) fingerprints to be the similiar one. For facial recognition application, this might be acceptable, but for fingerprint application, due to its nature/purpose of it, this will not be as it'll be a security breach.
so it has nothing to do with competency of the developer, w/o the hardware, regardless if you have a world class developer or s/w.
come on people, think!
as long as there's no hardware sensor for fingerprint scanning, there will never be a piece of software that's able to scan your fingerprint from a touchscreen, whether it's capacitive or not.
a touchscreen recognizes finger presses. but in order to get a fingerprint you really need the ability to read those small, fine lines of your fingerprint.
You guys are just too much! We can hack these phones a lot but not everything can be accomplished by changing a registry setting or installing a patch!
Looking for fingerprint recognition on the HD2 is like trying to take pictures on a phone without a camera. There's no app for that, just as there's no app for driving your HD2 to work or making toast with it.
Every single device that can recognize fingerprints (like the Toshiba g900 I used to own, and also the LG one) needs the dedicated hardware.
The capacitive screen is absolutely unsuited for this (see the explanation above) and I don't believe the camera can do it either. Barcodes are simple black and white lines for a reason. High contrast makes them look more or less the same in most lighting conditions so they're easy to recognize. Try taking a few pictures of your finger in different lighting: the difference between those pictures will likely be much greater (to a computer doing visual analysis) than between two different fingers in the same conditions.
I don't want to discourage thinking outside of the box, but this is a bit too far out I'm afraid.

Fingerprint lockscreen

Hey is there an apparently that allows you to have a lockscreen that is turned off with your fingerprint?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I'd say no, since no current lcd has the capability to scan a finger print.
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G on the Now Network.
The Mtorola Atrix does it with hardware. It has a fingerprint scanner built in, i dont think theres another way.
There is one that's made to look like that's what it does, but it actually has some sort of trick - a hidden swipe along the side, or something.
you would need a biometric scanner in hardwired into the lcd to make it work! which is possible the technology is there just havent seen an android with this as a feature yet...
there is an app in the market called fingerprint screensaver... it will make ou scan your finger/thumb 3x times to get a match... then when your phone goes into sleep/screensaver/ or lock screen you have to scan your the digit you used to unlock it.. it will run a green line to scan your print then shows a little print animation like how the feds scan prints then it unlocks or says scan failed...it only will work with the finger you scanned... I use it on my incredible its cool...
LOL that'snot how that app works AT ALL
I actually developed a lock screen replacement in partnership with google that does exactly this. It looks exactly like the stock lock screen, except while you slide to unlock it scans and validates your fingerprint. We forgot to put settings to add/remove fingerprints(users) though, so anyone who slides will gain access. Sorry.
edit: Ha, i only just got the post above
I believe the phone with the most simultaneous multi-touch points available at the moment is the Lg Optimus 2X, which has 10. 10 is theoretically enough to scan a fingerprint, but touch points on android phones get very confused when close together or on opposite axis and, as mentioned, no LCD screen is capable.
The Atrix 4g has a hardware fingerprint scanner and is the ONLY android phone that can do this. Saying you can do it via the touchscreen is complete crap.

Wouldn't it make more sense to try and use the back heartbeat sensor as a method to unlock instead of getting finger prints all over your camera?
Like rhythmic tap on heartbeat sensor or something...
I tried it and it wouldnt register the finger, for a while. i did but it took a long time. then it made me start over. so i tried it again and this time it didnt work. Its a good idea, just not there yet

can we get always ok fingerprint scanner?

Hello, i saw some video of lineage os 15.1 and in that the guy would switch his phone on by just gently keeping his finger on the fingerprint scanner, like most phone's. Is there anyway around it? I physically don't wish to press the button. I also feel the finger print isn't accurate always. I've added multi finger prints. I'm using stock right now and I plan to keep it that way, no root.
The only way to do that is to install superman rom. Selecting the modified system ui in superman rom allows us to enable always on fp sensor ?
