it may be an option if we get official bootloader unlock from LG. Or if someone figures out an un-official unlock. Other than that, its just for looks and is useless.

"My bad" I read it to fast, with all the excitment about the bootloader being unlocked i assumed thats what the OP ment.
So I'm not very savvy on the programming side of things but if I hold off is it possible for a 1 click root / boot unlock combo program

section 1 of my guide is the closest your going to get for a 1 click program...there is no programming needed. Download 3 files, open causual, plug in device, make sure it says device connected, choose debugFSroot, do it! If thats too hard then modding your device may not be in your best interest.
Not hard at all in just asking I've been modding for roughly 3 years so little snide comments like that really aren't necessary thanks

For starters I believe we should be able to get things like IR support and all the little extra features that usually only TW based roms could offer.
It might also help Dan or some other dev to completely unlock the bootloader.

Well since the source is released I believe devs can truly fix the weird screen issues we have (smearing and all)
And it might help with a bootloader unlock
also pure samsung kernels which should have better stability and speed
So could devs use the TW camera app with other Roms?

No because that requires the touchwiz framework.
We might see some hybrid Touchwiz/CM 10.1 Roms...

Dont get your hopes up in regards to bootlader unlock, that requires the signature keys, which has nothing to do with the kernels.

True true but it might help Dan understand more about the device and possibly work around it. Yea odds are it won't help but its always nice to be hopeful now that AT&T is officially about to shut down loki

hmm does warranty repair flash new updates when they fix your device?
also, means launch era GS4's should command a nice premium very soon.

Depends. If you send it to AT&T you bet they will patch for security. If you're using third party insurance I would just request they don't or at least ask if they do so you can plan for it or something, not that that would help :/
While it won't initially, you can bet people will be greedy and make you pay extra for day one models that are not patched but in reality it should only be like a 50$ premium at most. There are plenty of smart phones out there that are about just as good as the S4 that are unlocked, also holiday season will bring about plenty of competing phones and friendlier bootloaders.

That is a fair reason. I would be reluctant to buy any new phone with a locked bootloader, now the the exploits seem to be getting more difficult to find. I'm lucky enough to have the exploitable MDL bootloader on my S4, and quite honestly this phone does everything that I want, so I'll be keeping it and skipping the 2014 models.
I'm not on at&t but from the amount of screwing around you guys have to do with the s4 you would have to absolutely retarded to grab an at&t s5. And the last thing xda needs is more complainers complaining about how their bootloader is locked. The easiest thing is to buy another carrier phone unlock it and use it on at&t
Gonna wait and see if we see a Nexus 6 or something later this year. Not an HTC fan at all and the locked bootloader is getting old.

The only variant that can currently unlock their bootloader is tmobile. There are threads on this topic and rooting it.
Otherwise there is a bounty for Att and verizon.
I love Verizon but i really hate that they lock their phones down so tight. Let us have our fun. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before something pops up.
Would this root work for F600K?

I like this phone but I'm not sure if I wanna keep it without root. It's looking like the note 4 all over again.

Galaxy Labs APK

Can someone pull and upload the galaxy_labs_apk. Thanks in advanced!
Right now I believe the only people who have the phone is the one guy in Finland and T-Mobile customers, and T-Mobile removed Labs.

I haven't seen it on my phone, then again I didn't really look. Let me see if I can find it and pull the apk for you.
Edit: There's definitely not Galaxy Labs on my T-Mobile S7E, what exactly does it contain? I'm assuming it's experimental features, or something similar. This is my first Samsung phone in years, so I haven't kept up with all of their stuff.
I would appreciate this as well. It's not available on Sprint either...
I get my international edge version next friday so if knowone has posted the apk i will see if i can post it as the model i get has this function

It's in the priv-app folder of that zip. So it probably won't install until without root. Maybe someone can make an update file to do in Stock recovery.

Do you, or does anyone know why some variants have it while others don't? I can confirm the T-Mobile one does not, so I would like to have experimental 'features' just to mess with in case I'm bored.

Tmobile probably disables it. Now that I know where it is ill ask the guy with the other version. It could probably be brought back with root either with an sql edit or putting it in priv-app.

To answer a couple questions without quoting - as far as I've seen, every stupid US carrier has disabled Labs for no reason. It's ridiculous. I'd love to get it back. Hopefully someone can find a way to install it.
