Iv never had a more troublesome phone - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i'v had my s6 since only may and in that time iv wanted to blow this phone up every day. My phone likes to randomly disconnect from wifi, while it does this it tends to lock up until it reconnects to the wifi. To go along with the random wifi disconnects my phone will just "shut off", no matter how many times I press the power button it will not turn on until it feels like it, the longest this has happened is around 20m and has happened around 4 times. It's a 50/50 shot that I get MMS that I can read, other half it just says fail to download, a restart of the phone usually fixes the problem. Now the most annoying part is when I walk to my car right out of my house, I cant play music from spotify nor soundcloud, it just says im in offline mode with full 4g bars! The only way to fix this is to restart my phone. Just want to know if anyone else has had these problems? This phone has stayed stock from the day I got it, im on Tmobile running 5.1.1.

With the power off thing hold power button and volume down it will come straight back on .I've sent two s6 back coz of this think sammy got a serious problem

Sleep of Death?

Phone is currently stuck in this state. Pretty much doesn't respond to anything.
Tried hard resting, connecting it to the charger, connecting it to my laptop and those methods didnt work. I have an insurance replacement coming, but I would like to recoup the money I put down as the deductible for the new phone. Anything else I could try to get it working again?
This was my only fear about buying a phone with a non removable battery.
Thanks.
Non-removable battery has nothing to do with it. Holding the power button for about 5 seconds is the same as a battery pull, and its hard coded to work in just about any situation. If this doesn't work, a battery pull wouldn't either.
Did you try to get into bootloader? Try running the RUU?
Did you do anything to get to this state (flashing ROM, other mods?), or did it just happen randomly on its own? Is the phone stock or not?

If you can't go into bootloader or recovery, you might try what this guy did:

Phone was rooted.
Tried to get into bootloader and that didn't work either.
What got it into how it is was me just turning the screen off.
Oh wait, you were complaining about the non-removable battery, in the event its just a bad battery? That's possible.
But can also be some other hardware failure, or software.

Interesting. I would copy that in notepad and save as a batch file, correct?
Edit: That probably won't work as the phone is recognized by the computer. Something must have failed in it or something.
This has happened to me twice since I've owned it. Thing is fine, charged, no problems. Then I go to wake it up and it just won't turn on. I pressed the buttons for a while in no particular sequence I can recall, but it came on eventually. Maybe holding down the power and vol-down buttons for like 10 seconds. Also, never tried calling the phone when it was in that state. Would be interesting to see those results.

Been trying trying that to no avail. I guess I'll keep trying.
Leave it on the wall charger overnight. Wall charger charges faster than USB, so use the wall charger. I've seen some phones (other XDA users) come back from a state like this, after charging for several hours.
Any luck?
FYI, mine did this AGAIN two days ago at about 10am. Then later that afternoon, it rebooted for no reason. And that evening at about 7:30, it rebooted again but this time never made it past the HTC splash animation. I suspect it had something to do with one of the Wi-Fi penetration apps I installed last week - because it had been acting a little squirrelly ever since.
Fortunately I had a full backup from a few days prior. Booted TWRP recovery, wiped the caches and system, restored that backup and my phone's been smooth ever since.

[Q] power off

My phone will power off even while locked while in my pocket. Last night, i plugged
It in after it went dead and it kept looping through the battery then the motorola symbol and wouldnt
Power on. Both of these are seperate issues
but is there a way to require me to slide something
To turn my phone off? Also, what happened to my phone?
Same issue
I'm having a similar issue of the phone shutting down in my pocket. Holding the power button for a few seconds even if locked will restart phone. It's pretty bad to have a phone shut down randomly, so a fix would be welcome.
I had the same problem with the motorola symbol looping even when my battery was almost full. I took it to a Verizon store but while waiting for my turn the phone miraculously successfully booted before I could show it to them, so I just left. Hasn't happened since though.

Hmm.. Could be a bad phone.
When charging are you using the stock USB cable? I don't always but some cables and plugs have different voltages and stuff that may not send the correct voltage to your phone and cause it to do weird things like that.
Someone can correct me if I am incorrect.

For example I have a Pipo tablet and if I attempt to charge it through a specific belkin USB charger, it boot loops.

I tried holding down my power button. Apparently, it is being held down in my pocket. Btw, the reason for
This is probably to shut down the phone if it locks up.

Idol 3 Won't turn on. White led while charged.

For some reason my Idol 3 won't turn on (I've had it for a year). When I went to pick it up I found that the screen wouldn't turn on, even when I plugged it in. There are some threads on this forum that give some information, but im not sure I understand them completely.
1. This thread is the first I found and seems to be the most helpful and it has a link to another thread that has a guide. The problem is I'm having problem following the guide. Primarily the a video linked showing how to open up the idol 3.
2. This This is a post from a user who seems to have been able to open their idol 3, but still can't use the power button. Another user replies that a fastboot will help.
3. This is thread with a user with a similar problem. A senior member towards the bottom suggest the phone is simply dead.
If you can would anyone be able to tell me if any of these are the solutions/answers. If so, can you help me understand what steps to take to resolve my issue. If not, can you tell me whether or not there is a solution?
Have you had issues with the power button beforehand? It could be that the power button has worn down and so the phone works but it isn't getting the signal when you press the button to turn it on.

I haven't had any issues with it not working before. The only problems I've had are the occasional slight delays in how fast the screen would turn off or on. I won't dismiss the possibility of the power button being worn, but how would i know if it is?
Try something simple : keep pressing the power button for at least 15 to 20 seconds. The white LED should turn off. When it does, press again the power button normally, in order to switch the phone back on. That should work, and if it does, then nothing is "dead" and your phone was simply "half-asleep". It's a bug, that might be corrected with a firmware update.
i have the same problem ;/

I have the same problem and it doesnt work for me , LED still light
It worked for me, but please note that I have a 5.5" Idol 3 (model 6045Y). It might be different for the 4.7" version (model 6039).
To clarify, the white led only appears when the phone is connect/pulgged to a power source. Nevertheless, I connected my phone to the computer and when the white led appeared I held the power button for 20 seconds. Unfortunately nothing happened in response. I have the 6045I model if that helps
My sister's idol 3 is doing the same thing but it was water damaged... Did you get it near water? I wanted to see if I could repair it or something, she's been using a blu vivo 5 xl for a few months now with the idol 3 sitting in a drawer.... As I'm typing this my surface has recognized the idol 3 through usb but nothing on screen.... It's vibrating
---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:59 AM ----------
Well I hear the noise that it's connected but nothing pops up and then it vibrates and disconnects...
water
I've had it near water but have never dropped it in water. Over the course of its life its received the occasional drop(s) of water on the screen. Maybe there's hope for your device since your surface at least recognizes it.
had the same problem, your battery is dead
Having this issue, started Sunday. Phone suddenly froze while in use and wouldn't come back on. Phone is dead. Plugged into the wall outlet, screen went black, LED came on and nothing works now. Removed back cover, unplugged the battery, replugged in, nothing.
Running stock ROM, no mods or anything. Stock phone. Bringing to computer store tomorrow, or should I just buy a new battery online for $25 and wing it?
I have the same issue.
My power button slowly failed about 10 months after I bought the phone at release. Sent in for warranty repair and they replaced the main board. Then about 8 months later my sound stopped working which I lived with for a little bit, and now no power.
I have no signs of life other than the white LED on charge and the vibrate when the power button is held. Other than that, nothing.
I'm thinking they gave me a faulty main board, but Alcatel refused to fix it under warranty as the warranty was up. Even though they had just replaced the main board 8 months before, they don't warranty their repair parts.
The power button on mine didn't work properly after about a year of use. I got around the problem using tap to wake and sleep but it's not a real replacement for a physical power button. I stopped using it and went back to an old Samsung s4 for a couple of months.

Gear 2 Touch screen not working..

Hi, I have a problem with my touch screen.
When i boot it up it's working but when i press the standby button screen is off and then press it again its turning on but touch it's not working anymore and i need to reboot it :/
Someone know why it happens?
I already removed everything from it, And it's still not working.
I have the same issue. When factory reset, everything works fine. After a moment on standby mode, screen does not seem to acknowledge touch. Instead it seems to sense a touch that is not there. Sounds like a software issue to me. I plan on rooting my gear 2 and trying to upgrade the firmware. Maybe that will help
---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:00 PM ----------
Just to add a little info, my gear must have accidentally updated while my phone was in my pocket. It was stuck in bootloop, did that until it died, then after 2 days of charging it, only for it to not hold a charge, I finally was able to put it into recovery mode. This all worked fine until it went into standby. I will play around with it a little this weekend and see if I can get us an answer.

[XT1550] Frequent bootloop and can't get past bootloader

For the past couple of days, my device has been shutting down by itself and it often doesn't boot when unplugged (if it does, it is stuck in M screen bootloop). When I do plug it in, following things tend to happen:
- Stuck in bootloop with M logo screen
- Boots till "unlocked bootloader warning" screen pops up and then reboots again
- When I get in bootloader screen, I can't get past it. Can't even access recovery mode sometimes and if I do the device randomly shuts down
This feels quite random as it happens about 7 out of 10 times when I'm trying to reboot, eventually it ends up in the bootloop regardless of what I try.
My older rom was Lineage OS 14 that I flashed with TWRP. Today, somehow I managed to get into recovery mode for quite some time so I wiped the data and clean flashed superSU. The phone worked alright until I started setting up my device with accounts and all that stuff, it shut itself down again.
I had been using the rooted phone with Lineage OS for over 8 months and it was working just fine, no issues at all. The only new app that I installed recently was Blokada and the next day this started to happen. I don't really suspect Blokada, but still I don't know what is happening. It is hard to do anything because I can't access device storage on my PC when I'm just in the bootloader screen.
Can anyone please help me out with this? I will REALLY appreciate it if someone can help me solve this. Thank you in advance!
Could it be a fault with the Battery or it's internal connections?
I've got similar problems. It's the battery, read your charge amount.
Today my cell fell and shut off, then reboot with M logo. Then 6% of battery, after a couple of hours I beat the phone, turn it on, an then 81% (a more realistic percentaje)
