Your USB port is broken, take it to repair, same thing happened to me

USB charging board
Change the whole USB charging board not just the USB connector. You can do it yourself, no soldering needed. Cost me 4$ to order from China and it fixed all my issues of charging my A850. It also resolved all my issues of connecting my phone with USB to my computer. The whole charging board on this phone is prone to damage.

Broken USB port

My MyTouch 4G seems to have something wrong with the USB port. A few days ago I was getting only intermittent charging on one of my computer's USB ports then on a standalone charger.
Then a couple of days ago it stopped charging entirely from any standalone charger. This morning when I plugged it into one of my computers it started giving me errors about a power surge detected on a USB hub or too much power required on a USB hub then disabling that HUB and the phone's charging along with any other devices plugged into the same internal HuB.
Seems like something is wrong with the charging circuitry and/or the USB plug itself?
I have a couple of spare batteries and an external charger so I've just been charging externally and swapping batteries, but it's a lot less convenient than letting the phone charge while I'm at my desk.
Does anyone know if this could be repaired at a worthwhile price? Is the phone dangerous at this point?
Thanks!
Could be charging circuitry gone bad, or short circuited power pins in the USB socket.
Hopefully it's just the port and can be replaced. I found a couple of repair shops nearby, I'll take it in on the weekend.
Thanks.

[Q] USB Charging port fix by crimping USB Cable?

Hello,
I was having problems with my S3 not charging when plugged into the USB charging cable. If I would wiggle the cable around, it would start charging. Then if I set the phone down, it would stop charging. I figured the USB port was loose and/or broken. However, I took an old USB charging cable and I crimped the end down to "tighten" up the small opening in the end of the USB cable. Now it charges, the USB connection to the phone is very tight and it starts charging and stays charging. Problem solved?
My question is why do I need to crimp the USB cable? Has my USB port on the phone worn out? I've taken out the motherboard and cleaned the USB port with contact cleaner (which did not help). Does the little "prong" inside the USB port wear out?
I have recently had trouble with my phone charging from non-Samsung cables (the one that came with my phone still gives me no trouble). Similar issue, I suspect my phone port is wearing out.
Luckily, I have a wireless charger and battery cover so I dont use the port much now. Only down side is that there are no cases that fit with the VZW wireless charging battery cover.

Charger cable connection has black marks and smells burnt

I've had it for quite a long time. The black marks/residue on the full USB get off easily when wiped. It smells of burnt electronics and so does the female USB port on the charger. Neither the charger nor the cable (both OEM) get hot when charging (just the usual when charging at 1.8ish amp until the battery hits 80%, but that's only the charger not the cable). Neither are damaged physically. I received the OPO about 4 months ago. The reason I made is thread is because the phone stays warm even after it hits 100% (when I plug the phone off after an overnight charging period) and this started happening after upgrading to the 12.1 nightlies, so that might be a totally different issue. Should I get a new charger and/or cable?

In 90% of cases this is caused by either a faulty cable or a faulty powerbrick. Are you sure it isn't either of it?
Else try cleaning your port, once had this issue (but with microUSB) that it charged 5%/h just because there was so much dust in the port.
Also I had one (really cheap) USB-C cable which was just working when plugging in with one dedicated side up - so when I flipped the cable 90°, it wasn't even recognizing the cable -> turn back and even fast charging worked.
No faulty cable or no any cut with cable.. its genuine..
sometime getting fast or cable charging

Any Idea that how to clean port ???? i think its dust there.
i have exactly the same problem started happening today. multiple chargers and cables still shows slow charging
Same problem with me. Please help
I use a push pin (thumbtack with a plastic head) to clean the port. I have had to do this a few times since I got the phone a couple years ago. I have scraped pretty hard the bottom of the port and not caused any damage. Of course you do need to show some restraint. I don't want to be the cause of you breaking your phone. I had the most trouble with a car charger, but also the OEM charger. The cleaning has always fixed it for me.

Poco X3 NFC not charging any more

I need some opinions on what part to repair on my Poco X3 NFC. My story is the following:
One day, precisely 2 years and 2 months after purchase (so just outside of any waranty, grrrrrr...), my mobile stopped charging the battery with a normal 1 Amp USB charger. Only a fast charger with USB power delivery still worked. 5 charging cycles later the phone did no longer charge at all, it ran out of battery and couldn't be turned on again.
I changed the charging port PCB, which is quite cheap and for a few days things were normal again. Then the same thing happened: Only a fast charger with USB power delivery still worked. 5 charging cycles later the phone did no longer charge at all.
Now my phone is dead again. Since changing the charging port PCB with the IC was not the problem, what do you suggest to do next?
Had the same problem.
Neither new charging port nor a new batterie helped.
The problem was die Mainboard cable. It only costs a few euros/dollars and is very simple to change.
I don't understand how a cable which doesn't move can break but the problem was definitely the cable.

Do you happen to have a good explanation why this happened to me twice? What are the odds of "first normal charging breaks, then fast charging breaks a few days later"? And to continue speculating: do you think I need a new charging port PCB this time as well?
It looks like my charging problems are solved by using a new charging port PCB and cable. At least for now the phone is still charging. However, I seem to have problems with 4G reception after the change. Does anyone have similar problems? No 4G after charging port PCB change?
I had the same issue with not being able to charge. I also couldn't use the aux port anymore. I replaced the port dock, but happened to break the main flex cable so I also replaced that. So it could've been either.
My 4G is working fine. Maybe you messed up the antenna?
