[Q] The slightest jolt turns it on - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The title says it. It is sitting on my beside table with drawers and if I open or close a drawer, the thing turns on to lock screen. It sits upright in a holder, not flat.
I am using stock launcher and double tap on and off (which works very well).
Anything I can do to prevent the jolt effect?

Get a replacement.
My first one was also very sensitive. My new one is perfect!!

[Q] Anyone experiencing Funky Lockscreen?

Has anyone experienced their lock screen just randomly starting to take up only half the screen in a weird buggy way?
it's happened more than once now and if I see it again it's gonna piss me off
I wanted to know if anybody knows what causes this?, and is their a solution pre-software update?
I will upload a screen shot whenever I have a extra camera available.
my lockscreen has done it once but nothing major
This has happened to me twice today. I've rebooted it to fix it, but it's annoying that this is happening.
I've had the same issue. I was using the body glove case at the time. This weekend I took it off because it broke and I haven't experienced it now. My guess is that the phone isn't grounded enough to pick up your finger sliding to unlock it.
I've noticed that the lock screen will take up half the screen size only when i'm using the weather lock screen. Also I am using the body glove case and Had the issue once where i couldn't move the lock icon away. I realized that part of my hand was slightly touching another part of the screen. and that fixed the issue. It seems that when these phones get more graphical thats why glitches tend to arise.
I never use the weather lockscreen I always use the clock.
Right now u have a checker board Tpu case on my device.
After I posted the Op I cleared the data for htc sense in manage applications under application settings, and the issue hasn't occurred again.

This has happened to me twice now (and I've only had it for 3 days)
It might have to do with the weather lockscreen (that's what I'm using right now) but I'm not sure (I think I was using the wallpaper lockscreen when this problem first occurred). After the first time, I turned off the phone and took out the battery for a minute. It went away for a day, and now it's back. I'm not sure what else to do. I am not using a case for the phone right now, nor am I touching any other part of the screen while trying to unlock the phone).

[Q] Screen awake on touch?

Dear xda community,
Since I received my Nexus 5 more than a week ago I am experiencing something which keeps me thinking.
Sometimes when I want to pick up my phone to check something, the screen will wake up without me touching any buttons. Is this supposed to happen?
What's happening quite often because of that is: I want to pick up my phone -> grabbing it -> screen awakes -> but since I am pushing the power button myself half a second later -> screen turns dark again. This is a little annoying from time to time...
I tried to recreate this incident but it just happens every ~30th time. While doing this I keep attention not to hit a button accidentally.
Any Ideas whats going on? Bug or feature? Are you experiencing something similar?
Thank you and best regards!
Same thing happening with my Nexus 5. Screen opens on picking it up. It happens on randomly.
I cannot see any pattern though.
Could be a faulty power button switch? Making a connection under the movement?

It will wake up if the surface you put it on has a magnet in or near it. It's the hall effect sensor that does this, used for a cases that wake up the device when opened

Are you using a Custom rom?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
There are some custom ROM/Kernel combo's which give the option to wake the phone by double tapping the screen. However this isn't present in stock. As some have already said the phone will wake if placed near a magnet, if I put my N5 on top my iPad it wakes when I pick it up. If none of these apply its probably faulty.

On screen navigation registering before touching

Hi
Had my nexus 5 couple of weeks now, I seem to be getting odd things happening especially with the onscreen navigation buttons at the bottom.
I have noticed every once in a while as I say I go to press the back button it will actually register before I touch the screen!! One I hovered my finger above it was registering like crazy..
Has anyone else noticed this?!? Not sure how its doing it, am putting it down to some type of electrical sensitivity as my finger goes near by... The other on screen menu buttons may do the same but notice it most with back button as use it the most probably.

[Q] Keyboard always registers as open?

I recently had the pleasure of looking at my Photon Q to find a mess of cracks in what had previously been a pristine display. I have no idea how it happened, since the phone had been in my pocket for about ten minutes while I was shopping and it definitely wasn't cracked before that. My only guess is that I bumped into something while I was shopping. I'm guessing this detail is irrelevant, but I'm including it in case it's of-interest.
I've done replacement surgery on phones before, and I was in no mood to do it again so I took it to a local shop. They managed to replace it, but when it came back from the shop it was stuck in landscape mode. I checked out the accelerometer with Z-DeviceTest and it seems to be just fine. It seems like the logical culprit is that the phone always thinks the slider keyboard is open, even when it's not. I don't know how to test for this, though, and I haven't been able to find a Google search incantation that tells me anything of interest.
So my questions are: Does my diagnosis seem plausible? How does the Photon Q detect when they keyboard is open or closed? Is this something that probably got borked in the process of disassembly/reassembly? The phone is going back to the repair guy shortly because he also broke the earpiece speaker and he needs to replace it (at no charge, of course), and I demonstrated the won't-do-portrait-mode problem to him before I left the shop. Is there something along the line of "make sure that you screw the flibbertywidget into the whoozamawhatzit" information that I can give him?
Thanks in advance!
Am running cm11 and there is an option in system; dispay; to set 90,180 degrees etc.

Nah, when the keyboard is recognised as open, auto-rotate won't work.
A possible workaround is to use a terminal command to simulate keyboard open/close, but I'm not sire if it would work. I'll post the command later.

Thanks, both of you. I've confirmed my diagnosis, I think-- I've noticed that the keyboard backlight stays on even when the keyboard is closed.
Think that's normal, I us backlight off app to turn it off.
If you paid good money to get your phone fixed, may take it back and make them do it right?

In adb shell:
Code:
dumpsys window | grep mLidState
mLidState=1 means that hw keyboard is out (at least the lid sensor says so)
mLidState=0 hw keyboard is hidden

Solution
This problem is caused by a small magnet being removed during repair. The magnet isn't held in place by screws or tape or anything, it just sits in a small open space between the sliding keyboard tray and the LCD display layers of the phone. The location of the magnet is on the right side of the phone if you are looking at it up-right and about an inch below the volume buttons. Without this magnet the phone thinks the keyboard is out the entire time and the screen won't rotate. Replacing the magnet requires nearly complete disassembly. I've found you can save several minutes and a headache by taking the phone apart until you get to the sliding keyboard tray and taking off the 6 or so screws on the right side, then lifting the right side several millimeters and popping the magnet in from there. This way you won't have to take off the touch screen digitizer and other fragile ribbon cables. Once the sliding keyboard tray is re-attached with screws the magnet can't go anywhere. Good Luck.

Need help to make this pop out disappear

There is this pop out that keeps on popping every 15 sec and it's annoying I can use my phone. It pops out when the screen is off or on.
And I also think that it's a screensaver or a docking mode

There is no dust in the headphone jack and charging port.
Mine started doing this today. When it does it I get a little notification to click here to return to dock mode. Then it pops back to normal mode.
It is extremely frustrating.
Now the home screen rotates and I can't stop it from doing it (turning off auto rotate does not work) and it also will launch into speakerphone when I am in the middle of a call.
Any ideas? (Other than a factory reset)
Attached is what shows up in my notification bar when the screen goes to what you see in the picture from OP..
Think I figured this out.
It is the dock app. But it is not in the app drawer.
If you go to App Manager under settings, then switch to the view of "All" and look for Dock. Disable it and re-boot.
Apparently, according to a knowledgeable guy at the V store(yes they are a few), there is a magnet in the phone that when it is activated will enable Dock mode. So when you place it in a dock it activates.
Well a few days ago I bought some magnetic signs and I bet I bumped into one of them. Disabling will prevent that **** from happening in the future.
