[GAPPS] 2015 09 15 Flounder - Minimal - Nexus 9 Themes and Apps

I make these flashable packs for Dirty Unicorns users. Though with all the talk of people not being able to find anything that works out of the box I am sharing this with everyone today.
Thank you to Banks. He has been very helpful in my understanding of GApps and packaging them.
My GApps packages are always MINIMAL
Changes:
2015 09 15
Updated all core/minimal apps
Long overdue.
The link is now future proof. I will strive to maintain these regularly. There will be no dates attached to the zip file anymore. I will always post a new changelog for future updates and of course post that the package has been updated.
Download
Updated Base GApps for Nexus 9 (Flounder)
Let me know if there are problems or suggestions.
Thanks
P.S. Minimal means only what is necessary to function.

I have included Hangouts because it seems not to want to login if the lateste version is installed from the Play Store. This is an older working version, please login before you update. After the update Hangouts works.

Yes.

Google Now doesn't seem to work everywhere. I cannot enable options such as Lock Screen Google Now etc. They are greyed out. Seems to be working fine with Lollipopalooza gapps. Can you take a look?

I will venture to do so. I was waiting for Play Services 7.xx.xx to update. Looks like google dropped the ball. Every other device seems to have it.
Sorry for the long response time. I will look at adding the apk the poster after you recommended.

Cheers, could you also take a look and possibly include FaceUnlock libs to enable Face Unlock when lock screen is set up? that would be awesome if you could!

Nah, not yet. We've been trying to figure out how to apply the latinime libs, but it's currently causing FC's out the a$$. Stock uses Google kb, so that doesn't do us any favors (for those that use the AOSP keyboard instead).

is it possible for anyone to upload the latest Google Maps apks on this thread? My problem is that i get the stupid 'not supported by your carrier' error when attempting to update. I have been able to update my google maps to 5.0 from outside the market and it is working fine, so i really don't understand the carrier related error. Please, anyone? Its free after all.
Thanks!
They need to stop cluttering up Gmaps with useless stuff. Becoming bloated slowly but surely.

Yep, Market shows the new version is 5.2.0
Yes, 5.2.0 is the new version of Google maps.
What's in this version:
- Post your reviews of places to Twitter.
- Check in at places with Google Latitude to earn status and share with friends.
- Ping Latitude friends to ask them to check in. Friends will get a check-in request notification from you.
- Search for a place to check in from Latitude if it's not in the suggested list of plac

Agreed. Adding functionality to the map functions is one thing, but adding lots of extraneous bling is quite another.
Ver 5.2.0 is out, what's news?
The search feature on Maps has completely stopped working for me. Nothing I search is returning results... Is anyone else having this problem?
I really need this feature working on my phone before I fly to LA next week, its unbelievable how much I depend on it :-/
Running
MyTouch 3G Slide
ROM: CM7
any gmaps 5.2.0 APK :S i can´t update
Here it is,just pulled it up from the market, works quite good
Is there any reason to upgrade?
Given that Latitude is a non-starter (for me), is there any reason to get the newer version? I've been avoiding it since it didn't seem to have anything new besides bloatware that I'd rather avoid.
thanks for the apk file was looking for it..

So, please, don't send a link to the Android Market, it is USELESS.

APK 5.2.1
Yeah can someone put the 5.2.1 on here.
My market refuses to download or install Gmaps, Only when I use an APK install it works, but then it won't update via the market (the download keeps failing or not even starting)
Weird issue though since I did a full wipe after a new rom install (HTC Desire GSM, Cyanogen Nightly Build 15, s-off with Alpharev). All other google apps install just fine.
The APK should resolve this untill the next update probably :-((
The only thing I didn't try yet is a Dalvik wipe before the rom install or gapps, should I?
Any clues about how to fix this or a link to the 5.2.1. HDPI version?
Cheers

Suicide inducing Dialer App

Ahem...
Let me start by saying that this device is definitely up there with the finest when it comes to build quality. I mean, this thing is smooth, beautifully machined, great screen, great sound quality, ad nauseam etc etc...
But! The dialer app looks like it's rendered in Netscape Navigator (yeah, I'm old). Not only is it impractical as F**K but why does it not default to my Favorites like every single modern phone out there?
Why does it insist to always show the SIM slot number next to every single contact entry, even though I only have one of those creepy micro soul/wallet suckers?
Why is the incoming call such a nightmarish affair and don't even get me started on the ongoing call screen. Ho God, the buttons, where have they hidden all the buttons?? Ho the humanity (or lack thereof in this case)...
Honestly, this thing creeps me out! I've started to dread the time when I hear my ringtone and just start doing my little mantra: please let it go to voice mail, please please please... You get the idea.
I'm like a phreaking Freddy Kruger victim, can't fall asleep or IT will ring!!!
In short... And yes, I understand the thread could be a lot less tl;dr, has anyone tried to sideload the Google phone app?
Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the recommendation but yeah, it's classified as "not compatible" with device.
I've tried/read about a bunch of others and most push data to their servers (contacts list, etc).
Been reading about past efforts on other HTC devices to use the Gdialer but it seems to crash, a lot.
To get the google dialer, your best bet is to use magisk and install the google framework to be able to install it off the playstore.
I've done it on my htc 10 and it seems to work perfectly fine (tried it with stock rom, "stock" rom, and with leedroid which has the option in aroma installer to use it from the getgo) I definitely won't change it back and will probably do the same thing once I get my u11+

i've installed several versions of the Google Dialer on my rooted U11+ and they all FC when i attempt to open the app. I installed the framework zip and included the Magisk module but no luck getting it to work. attached is a Logcat specific to the Google Phone app: not sure this is enough info or in the right format; however, i would appreciate an interpretation of the issue from someone more knowledgeable than me. thanks.

Judging only from past experience with another phone, you need to make sure to set the google dialer as the default dialer app in the settings, and of course also allow permissions for the app.

agreed. i should have mentioned that all permissions were set and the app was set as the default Phone app. no luck though, it still FCs when i launch the app (Google Phone). thanks for your reply.
Try this one of you have Google framework installed : https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-7-0-140861421-nonnexus-release/
Then, update it via play store. The only message I get is that my phone is incompatible when I start the app but it's working anyway.

thanks, but i tried that route already. version 7 works with an occassional freeze. updating to the the newest version via the Play Store works, but the newly installed (v15) Google Dialer app still FC's when i launch the dialer to make a call. one reason i need to use the Google Dialer is because press-and-hold the #1 on the htc dialer does not dial my voicemail. voicemail number is configured but it doesn't work with the htc phone app. works just fine with the Truecaller and Google Dialer. currently using a combination of Truecaller (using dialer to initate calls) and the Google Dialer app for in-call activity (set as default Phone app): i initiate a call via Truecaller and it connects using Google Dialer. Using SwiftBlack substratum theme for both apps.
Is there any way to install the Google Dialer app without root on a Dual SIM U11+ ?
I tried all the official versions 7.x-8.1 from APK Mirror and none of them could install, incompatibility error during install.
Is there any other possibility with G Dialer ?
OR an alternative dialer from Play Store ?

@Galactus thanks for replying. i believe i resolved my issue: it was a permissions issue that - for some reason - the request to approve did not appear when i installed version 15 (from apkmirror) on my device. i decided to factory reset my device add my google account (so i can use the nearby places feature), then install Google Dialer V15. i get the "This device is not supported ..." nag at first launch of the dialer, but that's ok. so far, all is working well and i'm good to go now. stopped working...ugh!

I'll try it on my LG V30 but I need an APK - Play Store says unsupported device. Thanks.
Can you share apk to test on my S7 edge?
Same as Stark, would love to try on my V30. Thanks in advance!
Awesome, trying it out now on my s8. Thanks
I realize that my phone was not thought about, and nor do I intend to use SideSqueeze (but great work nevertheless), however SideSqueeze just crashes on the Nexus 4 when the selected activity is supposed to occour (I was just testing it for the fun of it.
The Nexus 4 has a barometer, and SideSqeeze shows how hard I am squeezing the phone just fine, however it crashes whenever the desired action (in this case, toggling WiFi) is supposed to occour.
The same thing happens with the ForcePress feature.
I'll try testing a few more activities in the meantime.
Update: Using the home function is hit-or-miss, It works, but only part of the time, however it fails to work at all with ForcePress.
Edit: I had forgotten to post some vital specs:
ROM: CRDroid (based upon Lineage OS)
Android version: 7.1.2
Running Xposed Framework (no Magisk)

The OP has released a Play Store link, there is no need for an APK, even if you run a noGAPPS build (like me).
I like the idea, and I went ahead and purchased premium. I am using a note 8, and the only problem I am experiencing is that the ADB command from the FAQ is returning an error. Can you help?
I'm using an S9 based ROM on my S8, so it doesn't recognise it as a compatible device. I think an APK would be much appreciated if at all possible.
Can we have apk. Our devices can't download it on playstrore
Do not use this app with a popsocket, you will always trigger it when reaching for the notification area or anything on the left side

Sorry about my initial behavior, however I was concerned about the OP being against the APK just being shared.
Let's wait for the OP to say something on the subject, and if you can't wait, then use "Galaxy" app store (based upon "Yalp Store") to download the app (after you log in your Google account).
You can get "Galaxy" from XDA Labs.

OP7P, VoLTE and Google Dialer, and Blocking Spam

Hi - I used to use the Google Dialer on my OP3T.
The Google Dialer (Beta version) is incredibly useful, because I have the option to block all calls that aren't in my Contacts list. Considering that I can get a dozen spam calls a day, that functionality is almost mandatory.
Sadly, the Google Dialer apparently doesn't appear to be compatible with the OP7P - At least, the Google Dialer isn't available in the Google Play Store on my OP7P.
Now, I could side-load the Google Dialer, but I'm wondering if it will break something in the OP7P telephony as a result. Also, does the Google Dialer support VoLTE?
Hopefully, a guru out there knows!

I just tried side-loading the latest Google Android Dialer (beta) from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ogle-phone-36-0-259628841-publicbeta-release/
When I tried installing it, I got a "Not Installed" error from the installer.

I found the solution.
The problem is that OP doesn't install the Google Dialer Framework as part of the OOS system. There is a downloadable Magisk Module for the Google Dialer Framework. Once I installed that, the latest Google Dialer Beta with Spam Protection installed properly on my OP7P.
Cheers!

This worked to install without anything else special. Turned on spam protection in settings. But is there anything else I need to do for it to work?
I am not rooted so no magisk modules.

Maybe disabling oos dialer would work.
