Bulldog data mode fix and notification fix - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Android Development

Hi guys,
First off all, thanks to all the devs out there helping us with our devices and doing their best.
In this post ill tell how to:-
GET DATA MODE WORKING ON BULLDOG ROM SM-N750
HOW TO FIX THE NEW NOTIFICATION BUG IN ANY ROM
1)DATA MODE ON BULLDOG
THINGS U NEED :- AROMA FILE BROWSER, UNIKAT ROM V4 ZIP
LINK FOR AROMA FILE BROWSER:-
Download this file :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
The above file is a file browser like thing but it allows you to modify system files, like copying system files, deleting files, recovering files from internal memory if you are facing bootloops
Open Unikat v4 zip in any zip manager and extract the following under /system in the zip :-
/system/bin
/system/cameradata
/system/container
/system/csc
/system/etc
/system/lib
AND AT LAST ALSO THE /system/framework folder but delete the following files from the extracted framework folder :-
framework-res.apk
framework.jar
framework2.jar
twframework-res.apk
twframework.jar
so that it doesnt overwrites the bulldog framework files
Now once u extracted all the folders, put it in your internal memory in a single folder
For eg:-
Under ur internal memory
/internal/files/bin
/internal/files/cameradata
like this just to keep all organized
Once all of this is done, reboot the phone into recovery mode (AS U HAVE INSTALLED A CUSTOM ROM U WILL ALREADY HAVE A CUSTOM RECOVERY I ASSUME) and select install zip from sdcard and select the aroma file browser it will open a files browser.
The from there go to the location (/sdcard) where you have your extracted folders and select the folders (bin,cameradata,container,csc,etc,lib) and copy them, and paste them ito /system and select "Overwrite all".
Once this is done, go back to recovery and wipe cache and dalivk cache.
Then reboot the phone. And there it is data mode working on N750 model on bulldog rom.
Basically what we did here, is we replaced the N750 compatible files in Unikat with those in the Bulldog
NEW NOTIFICATION BUG FIX:-
You need Xposed framework installed to get this working.
Download and install "Xuimod" and enable it from modules and reboot the phone.
Open xuimod and goto "Ticker Animation". Turn on the ticker animation.
It will ask for SU access, grant it and it will also ask you to restart systemui click on OK.
Under "Ticker Main Enter Animation" select "Slide in top"
Under "Exit Main Exit Animation" select "Slide in top"
Under "Ticker Switching Enter Animation" select "Slide in top"
Under "Ticker Switching Exit Animation" select "Slide in top"
Once this is done go down and click on "Test Ticker Animation", and look if it is solved
ENJOY.

[TUTORIAL] [BOOT SCREEN] How to change bootscreen in custom rom

I'm roaming around a few days, but couldn't find any link explaining exactly how to change the bootscreen in custom ROM in desire s like RunnyMede ROMs or other sense ROMs. So, here's how to change in the easiest way:
Requirements:
1. S-off
2. Rooted phone
3. Custom ROM (sense ROMs)
Procedure:
1. Download ES File Explorer. Install it. In the settings, you will find 'Root explorer' & 'Mount file system'.. Check in both the boxes. I mean enable them both. It may ask for superuser permission. Accept it.
2. Download any custom made bootscreen available here in XDA. [you will find them in .zip format. some are even flashable. don't download them.]
3. You can use two animations- one for boot start and another for shutdown.
4. Now rename one file as htc_bootanimation.zip [don't write Htc or HTC]
5. Rename the other one as htc_downanimation.zip
6. Now cut them both & paste them in yr root directory in /data/local [use ES explorer now to explore your root directory]
7. Overwrite the existing files
8. You are done. You will see in your next boot.
I knew that, anyways thanks man
never knew this and was tryin to flash th zip untill nw...wait i'll try..

got a prob...changed th boot anim but nw phone won't switch off...if i give power off it just switches off and then back on all by itself...
Yah I got the same prob too with my new own custom bootanimation... Looking for a solution too...
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
do post here if u find it...thnx in advance...
Thank you!
Thanks man!
Something important
you all are welcome.
but remember, bootanimation location for different ROMs are different.
for example:
Runny based rom (proxuser's v1.5.1 or older) --> data/local
Sensation based rom (proxuser's latest roms) --> system/customization/resource
Problem solved
Sorry guys, I made a mistake. you should not use the same file as 'bootanimation' and 'downaniamtion'. If you use the same, when the phone starts shutting down, it cannot recognize it's been shutting down rather it restarts. so, here's the thing- you can use two different animations, one for phone start up and another for shut down walaaaaaaa....
[first post has been corrected]
Is it working for Cyanogen or only for Sense ROMs ?
I never used cyanogen Roms

i've got a big doubt.........does the updatescript in meta inf folder depends on the apps in the apps folder????? or is it just enough to copy the meta-inf folder from any other rom??? (if im trying to mod an a system app)) plz do help me!!

i am not a genius on this, but upon seeing what is "inside" updatescript, it's more or less a program that dictates which installs, like say, the boot.img, or the busybox.... but of course i can be wrong...

you can try to read this though...
According to Geekfor.Me
"This script is required for an “update.zip” style flash in Android so that it knows what it is actually supposed to do."

Hi!
The META-INF/com/google/android/update-script file inside an "update".zip archive is just a normal text file you can open with any text editor and edit it to your needs. It doesn't depend on any files, so you can safely copy it from another CWM update.zip file and put it in your newely created update.zip file for CWM flashing. Oh, and "update-binary" is also in the same folder as the "update-script" is.
The "update language/syntax" is a little bit strange, but nothing major to fuss about.
Hope you can do it!

[TUTORIAL]How to port galaxy mini roms to galaxy fit

Ok so i have seen that many people are having problems porting roms so here is a short tutorial on how you actually do it.
PORTING AOKP LATEST BUILD FROM MINI TO FIT
Here is what you must do
1.)Download the latest aokp for galaxy mini
2.)Extract it using winrar or any other similar program
3.)Replace the folder usr in system from your galaxy fit's rom to mini's rom(This will make the soft keys work for you)
4.)Now replace the camera libs in folder lib present in system in your mini's rom from fit(copy all 4 camera libs except libarccamera.so. This will make the camera work with 3rd party app. The stock camera will not be able to take pictures)[Thnx to sarvesh563 for this idea]
5.)Now replace the boot image from fit's rom to mini's rom
6.Now you have to replace the file sensors.beni.so in folder hw from fit's rom to mini's rom. This will make the auto-rotate work for you(But i am not Sure whether auto rotate will work or not)
7)Now the last step is to add the 3 folders system, boot.img and META-INF to archive. Choose .zip. Then you will get a zip file which you will have to flash in recovery mode.
That's it You have now successfully ported aokp from mini to fit
NOTE: If calculator is not working then copy the calculator.apk from fit's rom to mini's rom. Then install the apk. Make sure u add only the 3 files to archive and not a whole folder. Many people add the whole folder to archive and then u will get installation aborted error
PORTING CM10 FROM MINI TO FIT
1.)Download cm10 for galaxy mini
2.)Extract it
3)Now replace the META-INF folder of mini with the META-INF folder of fit
Rest of the steps are same as you did for porting the AOKP
Ok guys that's it for now i will update this thread as soon as i port more roms. Anyone who has ported some other rom is free to post the tutorial here
Before replying here regarding the problems you are facing dont forget to mention the rom you are trying to port
For camera fix see post #126
DONT FORGET TO PRESS THANKS BUTTON IF THIS TUTORIAL HELPED YOU
place holder
I had ported cm9.1.0
Guide- first you replace the meta folder.. i suggest u to use meta-inf folder of aokp ics of thewisp sir...about other roms meta-inf they will not work possibly
Then replace the user,hw folder in respective directory !!
Now the main problem comes with boot.img...
If you use default boot.img rom will not boot
you have to use cm10 gfit build's boot img by making some changes!!! If you don't make changes it will boot but you will not see any pics or video in gallary, your music player will not found any song on sd card, your browser will not download anuthing saying "no sdcard" even though browser is in sdcard
Because you had used cm10 boot image and for cm10 sdcard directory is /storage/sdcard0 whereas for cm9 it is /mnt/sdcard
Solution -
Extract both boot image of cm9 of mini and 10 of fit using cygwin then replace the cm10's init.goldfish.rc and init.gt-s5670.rc with cm9's respective files ...OFCOURSE u have to edit name of file from init.gt-5570.rc to init.gt-s5670.rc...
Now pack that boot image of cm10 ...
Dont replace camera libs beacuse it will cause bootloop..
Lastly edit build.prop with edit++ or notepad++ software as you wish !!!
Lastly pack all 3 "system,meta-inf and boot.img" in zip with normal compression...and flash it..
See you will be runnig amazingly fast,beautiful ics in your galaxy fit...
It is very fast as compared to previous build...
Faster..
Smooth..
Thats it...if your rom booted do tell here your feelings..
If u get stuck anywhere ask here for solution
I HAVE UPLOADED FLASHABLE ZIP of modified boot image http://www.4shared.com/zip/N4nPuXl0/bootimg_for_cm9_.html?
Dont say thanks CLICK it...

after all the editing you will be left with 3 folders. select all of them and then add them to archive. Do not keep the 3 files in a folder and then try to make a zip file. Then u will get installation aborted error. Hope that helps

can you explain to me what is deodex ?
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
Where to Download?
Downloads in the second Post
1-Ok my rom is deodexed now
2-I want themes or any thing for deodexed roms only
3- please don't say that each device need it's own theme (like custom rom) then there is no themes for pocket plus (like custom rom) then deodexing my rom is useless
Oh...bro flashing via CWM you need to go to mounts and storge then mount data and system ( i mounted every thing )
If you didn't do that it will give you an error

Hey guys, @Modding.MyMind over ported Holofied TWRP Themes to qHD resolution. I'm creating this thread just to have it here, as more people will be inclined to look at it because it's on XDA. He did all the work, not me, I'm just making this post. Downloads are at my AFH folder here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=19000
It has themes for TWRP 2.7.1.x and TWRP 2.8.0.x as well as Aroma FM.
Enjoy!

Well, do you use your recovery so often that you really need to theme it ?

Guess that depends on the user doesn't it lol. The average user just uses the recovery for backups. Those who have surpassed that with experience and skills do a lot more with it .
And is nice to be different thats can be my reason to theme the recovery.

That means you never had Holofied theme on your device . And yes, some of us use it quite often
Sent from nowhere over the air...
Edit: Are some of the zips damaged? I can't seem to open after download from AFH...the Holofied PLAY one and the Dark one
P.S. But maybe the place for this thread was in the Apps & Themes section not in Development...there was another Holofied thread there. You could ask a moderator to move it

Yes, I already downloaded it from the other forum and it's working great. Now I'll have to find that Aroma File Manager, I've noticed that when enabled, it tries to flash a zip that's not in. But that has nothing to do with the theme itself, should be something new in TWRP 2.8.0

When you installed aromafm where on your device did it place it? Give me the full path please.

It doesn't work for me either
IDK why, I just use the TWRP File Manager for now
Also the XDA theme has an error parsing the XML File in TWRP

I guess that's the problem, I didn't install anything yet. I'll look for it and install, then let you know

I found the problem with XDA. I'm porting it again. My lady was messing with me when porting that theme lol. Will have it fixed and reuploaded shortly.

@javelinanddart, can you check the other themes to see if that parsing error occurs?

OK, I've traced the error. As you can see, the file location IS CORRECT BUT...in TWRP if you go with the normal File Manager (not the arom one), you will notice that the "sdcard" folder does NOT EXISTS in the root. It is called "internal_sd" instead. So the flashable zip you've provided flashes the file in the correct location (probably during flash the generic name "sdcard" is recognized). but while launching the FM from the theme it tries to reach "sdcard/TWRP/aromafm/aromafm.zip" and the correct path should be in the script "internal_sd/TWRP/aromafm/aromafm.zip"
I don't know if this is only for Ville or is valid for other devices too, I'll try to change the script to point to the new path....If I can find it
Got it.... in ui.xml, instead of
Code:
<object type="button">
<condition var1="aromafm" var2="1" />
<highlight color="%highlight_color%" />
<placement x="%col1_x%" y="%row11_y%" />
<font resource="font_big" color="%button_text_color%" />
<text></text>
<image resource="mb_filemanager" />
<actions>
<action function="queueclear"></action>
<action function="set">tw_file=AROMA Filemanager</action>
<action function="set">tw_filename=/[B][COLOR="Red"]sdcard[/COLOR][/B]/TWRP/aromafm/aromafm.zip</action>
<action function="queuezip"></action>
<action function="page">flash_aromafm_confirm</action>
</actions>
</object>
it should be
Code:
<object type="button">
<condition var1="aromafm" var2="1" />
<highlight color="%highlight_color%" />
<placement x="%col1_x%" y="%row11_y%" />
<font resource="font_big" color="%button_text_color%" />
<text></text>
<image resource="mb_filemanager" />
<actions>
<action function="queueclear"></action>
<action function="set">tw_file=AROMA Filemanager</action>
<action function="set">tw_filename=/[B][COLOR="red"]internal_sd[/COLOR][/B]/TWRP/aromafm/aromafm.zip</action>
<action function="queuezip"></action>
<action function="page">flash_aromafm_confirm</action>
</actions>
</object>
I'll make the changes and try it again...

Ah, yea that would be the original theme dev who wrote it like that. Good catch . Works fine on my device though, so a more universal method would definitely need to be acquired lol.

@Rapier, can you post your recovery log on here with the "hide" tags. I need to look at it. Specifically towards the end of it.
Ok so I've tested with the modified ui.xml and it works, Aroma FM starts OK. I'll attach the changed ui.zip, it is for the Holofied Play version. You can test it's working
Don't know how it works for other devices that doesn't have "internal_sd" folder but have "sdcard" instead...maybe some have both
@Rapier, when you installed aromafm, did it place it on your external or internal after flashing the zip?
When I install it, it is placed on my external. The /sdcard path used inside the ui.xml defaults to my external storage which therefore properly finds the aroma file manager. Which is why I ask?
Edit:
Just looked at the device tree used to build yalls TWRP. Seems you guys only have an internal with no external sdcard.... So this would be the problem lol.
I'm gonna mention @z31s1g and leave it up to him to decide if he wishes to find and use a more universal method for any future releases.

The HTC One S does not have an "external" sdcard. There's only a internal memory of 10 GB that's mapped as "sdcard" and maybe that's why it's referred to as "internal_sd". So this could be the issue.
So the changed ui.xml will probably work only for devices without external sdcard. If there's a way to find this in recovery, there could be 2 different subroutines in the script...one for devices with external sdcard and one for devices without it. That it'll be universal.
Also a small suggestion if I may...it is applicable on all devices. When selecting the "Aroma FM" in settings, there's no need to have a confirmation screen with a slider to flash/launch the actual File Manager. Pressing on the File Manager should directly start it and after exiting it should return to main Recovery screen. I mean, I see no point in confirming the launch of FM. I've attached a second ui.zip file, again only for the Holofied Play, that takes out this slider as well....so if you press File Manager in main page AND you have selected in settings to have the Aroma FM, the File Manager will flash & start right away. After exiting it'll return to main Recovery page.
And thank you again for this port, these themes are the best I saw for TWRP ever. If you need any logs or tests to be made, please let me know
I will continue to port the themes based on their original release. If you guys wish to make further modifications in support of yalls device specifically feel free too. Currently porting these themes again to fix the parsing errors they are displaying.
