[Q] Random lockscreen pictures - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I really ike that the Honor 6 shows random lockscreen pics. However I must have ruined it somehow as I cannot find that option anywhere in the menu. I can only choose to change it every 5 minutes or less frequently. If anyone konws what might caused this change please give me a hint.

You probably mean the magazine lockscreen. If you had changed a theme from default theme, the magazine lockscreen gets turned off, and so you have to go to theme manager and chose locksreen style as magzine lockscreen/default theme lockscreen style.

Anyone on L02/L12 Emui3.0 found way to get the magazine lockscreen to show new pictures ? The magazine lockscreen on my P6 works fine and shows new images, but on Honor 6 is stuck with the dozen images.

To manage magazine just swipe from bottom to top at the lock screen and select More then Settings

It doesn't work and there isn't options in settings to select random wallpaper.

I have the same problem except I want to turn it off, not on. I also see no option in the settings app and I have the daily wallpaper off in the Google Wallpapers app.

Can't remove lock screen circle widget

I asked on another forum, but the advice given doesn't work on my phone. I want to remove the lock screen circle widget with the date and time, but it doesn't budge. It won't swipe up or down at all. It only has a side to side rocking animation and there's no way to get rid of it. Am I stuck with this this ruining my lock screen wallpaper?

Go into Settings > Lock screen and enable "Widgets". This will allow you to swipe to the left and add a new clock widget. Once you have one, you can swipe up and remove the default Circle clock.

Are you trying to disable widgets after you set it? You have to keep the widgets setting enabled to use the custom clock.
No...I've left it enabled.
Looks to me they are pretty much forcing us to have a clock widget on the lock screen.
Do you have the quick circle case setting enabled? Under General settings?

On the lock screen, long press the circle clock and drag it to the top to remove. Then click the plus sign on the screen to add the widget of your choice. Hope this helps.
Any update on this, as of 10L the methods above don't seem to work, if I remove the clock I have to set another widget in it's place and I don't want that. I simply want to remove the clock all together as I don't need it.
Has anyone found a way to remove the clock (I am rooted btw)?

I use the XPosed Module G3 Tweaksbox which has a lot of tweaks available. While I don't see one currently to remove the stock circle clock on the lock screen, I suspect the developer of the module might be able to add it. You might want to reach out to him and see if it is something he can do. There is a link to the module's thread in my signature.
EDIT - I found another solution in the G3 Tweaksbox thread..... I tried it and it works just fine. No root needed.

You can hide it.
Download blankwidget from the playstore, go to lockscreen and swipe right to add widgets. Add the blank widget and then swipe back to the circle one. Press and hold and then remove it

I think you were not using a blank widget and that is why the stock clock kept reappearing. You have to have a custom widget for it to not appear. By using a blank widget, it meets the requirement to keep the stock clock away, but you don't see anything on your screen.

Works like a charm, thanks.
I like the circle clock widget on the lock screen, but i'm wondering how to change the look of the day and month. For example, i would like it to read....12 Apr, instead of Apr 12. Is there any way that i can do this? Thanks for any help.

[APP][Launcher]Google Pixel launcher - Leaked (Updated 9/16)

Google Pixel Launcher
Google Pixel launcher leaked, Here is what has changed since Nexus launcher
The latest update does not bring much in terms of UI changes but small questions. "Minor changes" like navigation bar being transparent with more apps in the app drawer and icon size, a bit smaller.
>>The search bar on the top of app drawer “Search Apps” is a bit smaller but erratic device to device, which will be fixed with future versions.
>> Pixel launcher now supports landscape mode unlike the Google Now launcher, though you need to toggle the setting from the settings menu.
>>The app has been split into two parts, first one being the main app launcher and the second one being the Wallpaper interface.
Thanks for sharing.
Quickly tested, it is too simple as launcher not enough basic features, i.e. too stock for me.
Not able to change date position or color.
Not able to display apps in another way that a list.

Multi Picture Live Wallpaper not working

Hi, does anyone know what this live wallpaper does not work on the Mate 8 (using nova launcher)? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture I have never have problems with this one in my other phones (HTC, LG, Motorola). Also Setting a wallpaper using nova launcher disotrts the image if it is not exactly 1920x1080, already tried all posible nova configurations, but the wallpaper gets distorted
I am unable to use "Multipicture Live Wallpaper" either on my ZenFone 3 Deluxe. I t worked great on my Zen 2 but after I go through the set up (identical to Zen 2) I get an error message stating "Screen x Picture is unavailable. Need to setup or reload." I have 9 screens / wallpaper each with a static picture. As for the lock screen, I point it to a specific folder and let the picture auto-update every 30 min. The lock screen does not work either. It shows the original image, when i swipe to unlock, i get a brief glimpse of the MPLW image. Anyone else been able to resolve this?
I have an issue with Huawei P9 plus and honor magic.
Multipicture can set only one screen wallpaper.
It changes after double tap screen. But all pages use the same wallpaper.
Huawei default launcher and NovaLauncher act same.
I thought it was a problem of android 6.0.
But all works fine in Nexus 6P Android6.0 and 7.0.
So that may be a feature for huawei EMUI.
---------- Post added at 05:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ----------
I found a way to solve this issue.
Install go launcher ex and set live wallpaper in golauncher. You will find that it works fine.
Then go back to Nova launcher.
Multipicture will works fine too …

How to change lockscreen wallpaper Mate 9 US version??

Why is it complicated to change the lockscreen wallpaper on the Mate 9 US version? All other tutorials online have the lockscreen in the wallpaper settings, but apparently not on my version. I had to change it using the Theme app and then customise.
With that said, is there a way to change the lockscreen wallpaper at different intervals like how one can change the wallpaper intervals and choose the source of where the wallpaper is coming from?
Very confusing as I was just praising how I like EMU 5.0.

What retailer did you use to purchase you device? I've been searching online trying to identify if mate 9 has a see threw lock screen. I really like to use live wallpapers on my home screen, and view them on my lock screen. This is really important to me, actually deciding feature because I don't want to have to bother rooting for this simple feature. The only think I could find on it was this http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/worldwide/wheat-mate8/faqs/detail/themes-and-wallpaper.htm from their site, however I'm not sure if it is accurate for the mate 9!
To answer the OP, yes.
Go-to screen lock and passwords, click on magazine unlock and you can select which genre of photos you want downloaded. Then on the lock screen, you can heart/like them or move them to be deleted so they don't show up again. I've included some screenshots.
I haven't found an option to how often they are switched, I thought I had earlier but have forgotten if it was another option I'm referring to.
Edit:
The option I was referring to was actually Wallpaper interval, not lock screen.
I have my options set like that, but my lockscreen never updates. It's always the amber colored swoosh on a black background. I was able to set the wallpaper to the magazine folder, so at least I can see those photos as my wallpaper, updating as set.
On a related note, I wanted to copy the stock "wallpaper" photos into the "magazine" folder, so it would cycle through all of them, but I could never find where the wallpaper photos were stored. :-|

Did you mean this folder?
Not sure if you know about swiping up from the lock screen to get the play pause for wallpapers.
No, that's the magazine folder that I switched the wallpapers to pull from. What I was looking for was the storage of the ORIGINAL wallpaper folders. But I've since found it, they aren't all in one folder, they are in various subfolders of internal storage\HWThemes\.cache

Hmmm, strangely, I just went back into "Screen lock style", and re-selected magazine unlock (which was already selected), and now I'm getting the updating lock screen images.

Thank you for that tip! Swiping up on lock screen and hitting play/pause. Perfect! That is what I was looking for.
How can I apply own pictures to the lockscreen while using the play/pause feature, or does that only work for Subscriptions?
Thank you for that tip
If you go to your lock screen and pull up, you'll get this menu. As long as it looks like this, it will change every time you turn it on.
You can heart certain selections and they won't be deleted.

Yes, there is a category for Live Wallpaper, but current do not have any live wallpaper to try it out. Maybe there are others who have live wallpaper on their Mate 9, which I am assuming you are asking?
And I bought my Mate 9 from Best Buy.
It's there anyway to have home screen wallpaper change in intervals?
(..misreading...)
Auto changing lock screen wallpapers on mate 9
if you want to set auto changing wallpapers on mate 9 then lock the phone and press the unlock button to wake up then phone swipe from bottom there is a play and pause button click play and you are ready to go

Lock Screen Magazine Unlock subscriptions never update

I have my lock screen set up for the Magazine unlock, with several subscriptions checked, and set up for auto-update over WiFi. But I've never seen any new photos added, they're always the same ones that came with the phone. Is there some other place that you have to set up a subscription to get access to new photos? In reviews of the phone last year, I read that these were supposed to auto-update, but mine never have.
same here, I didnt payed attention to it until saw this post, not sure what else need to be done to have these updated.
Same for me, too.
Even worse, it seems you can't even re-download the original wallpapers from the lock screen settings menu, if you have deleted them (which I did, thinking they could easily be restored).
I admit that I do not miss them severely as I now simply use one of my own wallpapers as a fixed lockscreen wallpaper. But I'm quite curious though, if there is some hidden subscription setting to get the original (and new) lockscreen wallpapers back.

silly question maybe but how do you do that? I've been trying to change the lockscreen wallpaper without no luck
@ilbambino:
1. Open the picture you want to set as the lockscreen wallpaper in the stock gallery app and tap on "More" --> "Set as" (any other app which allows to set an image as a wallpaper should work as well)
1a. Optional: You might get a selection dialog first which allows you to choose how to set the image as your wallpaper. Here you should tap on "Wallpaper(Gallery)" to get to the stock Huawei wallpaper assignment function.
2. Make sure that "Scrollable" is not activated (i.e. not written in blue, but in white) and move the image to show the part you want to have set as the lockscreen wallpaper.
3. Tap on the hook in the upper right corner. You should now get a dialog asking you wether to set the image as the wallpaper for your "Lock screen", "Home screen" or "Both".
4. Select "Lock screen", so that your homescreen wallpaper remains unchanged and your lockscreen wallpaper gets set to the new image.
4a. Optional: You might want to make sure that the wallpaper shuffle function of the magazine unlock style is disabled if you only want your lockscreen wallpaper to be displayed.

Sometimes, if you apply the default Theme with Magazine Lock and wait awhile, you'll get a download.
I got several in the beginning. As soon as I switched to another theme, even with Magazine Lock, I never got anymore updates.
I haven't tried going back to a default Theme...I like mine too much now!
By the way, you do realise you can build your own series of magazine Lock pictures (upto 500!) by just adding them to your cover pictures?
It's excellent. Just build your own library of high res wallpapers from any source at all, and add them. It's even much better than the original.
There is also a security issue here! If you flick up the menu from this screen and select the gallery icon on the right and then press the home button it unlocks the phone!

I like the magazine and have added several pictures of my own. I have also deleted some of the pictures in magazine I did not liked.
As for the security "issue" from my lock screen I cannot get past any screen without the unlock code or fingerprint.
It's not working here either. I have a couple images (30) added manually, but the phone never cycles through them. I can however swipe left and right on the lock screen to see the pictures.
