Fintie Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Smart Shell Case Review - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

Bought the Fintie Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Smart Shell Case online.
http://www.fintie.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=667_801_804&product_id=5140
Excellent build quality. The back shell is of high quality and has the gaps in the right places for the camera, SD card, USB, speakers etc. Since this case has been made generic for the WiFi and LTE versions, it does not have the cut for the SIM though. The front flap is also of very high quality and the magnets help it maintain the folded position for viewing and typing. Lightweight and slim, it is easy to carry around.
BUT IT IS UNUSABLE. The magnets used for the closure mechanism interfere with the electronics of the device. The tablet goes to sleep when you are using it, especially when you are typing. Often I get bands on the screen too.
Back to the Samsung original book cover for now.

Hmmm, I've had the same case for 2 months now, with no issues at all.

Am giving it a try again. Hope it works. I have turned off the automatic unlock option now. Hope the case I bought isn't a fake one.

I have this case too and never had a problem with it. It might be the best case I've used.

NO problems with ours !
I am typing this out on my Tab S 10.5 siting in my Fintie Smart Shell Case right now. My wife and I both have this Tablet and this case. Flawless in all respects. Sounds like you either got a defective unit or a chinese imposter knockoff. For this very reason we rely primarily on Amazon.

I bought two of these for my 10.5. Have never had anything like that happen and I've been using them for a good month, everyday.

So I just got this from Amazon, my SD car slot is not in the right place. It is too low.
Is this true for everyone elses case?

If I am not wrong, that slot is for the sim card tray. Many cases do not have a slot for the micro sd card. Which model do you own?

Case idea

I was looking for a case that i could take with me to work so i would not worry about the phone, i'm a gardener and it is inevitable that i get dust and dirt in and around my pockets so i wanted something that would stop this from happenening to my nice new phone.
I tried the pdair leather flip case which isn't great and i had to put it in a pouch before putting it in their in order to keep the dirt out.
But then i saw on here someone saying that a small portable harddrive case may actually fit the sgs well. I did a bit of amazon research and found this case.
amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0037PSQD8/ref=oss_product
The only knock on this case in the reviews was that it was a bit small for a regular portable harddrive and i can confirm after trying to squeeze my seagate freeagent into it that it is a bit tight.. But.. It fits the galaxy S like a dream, and because it has a zip it is extremely good at keeping crap out of the case. Being neoprene it is also pretty protective and i wouldn't worry so much about it if it did take a fall. Also it is fairly water proof. It's well made and fits the with or without a bumper case.
It also has another smaller zip pocket in the side with is ideal for carrying a bit of cash around in. So even though it does bulk up the phone size a little if you use it like a wallet it somehow doesn't seem so clunky.
Just thought i would pass this on for any one looking for a similar solution, and to be honest at £2.49 down from £20 it is an absolute bargain.
Enjoy.
Great idea...
I'll be using my phone as main mp3 player too - is it possible to route headphones in to headphone socket, while maintaining most of the functionality of the case?
I've not got my handset yet either, but I'm guessing there's no space to store an extra microsd under the battery cover? There isn't on my X1, but on other handsets I've had in the past I could, seem to remember being able to on my N95.

Yup the head phone hole is just under the side you zip too so it would work perfectly for that, thanks for the idea.

Samsung Galaxy S Wallet Review [Credit Cards, Cash & Phone!]

Hey Guys
I've recently purchased an accessory from eBay. It came yesterday and I have got to tell you it's the best case I have bought for the Galaxy S, and I must have bought 6 or 7 cases for it, as I like to change. The case I bought is great, because it frees up space in my pocket because I can carry the cards I use every day (debit cards, membership cards, college card etc...) in the same case as I carry my phone. You can see how the case holds both the phone and the cards in the picture, and their is a compartment behind the cards holder for cash and other items of use (such as my bike key and house key).
eBay Listing Here
I have also seen the video for the Samsung Galaxy S drop test, and me being a 'safety freak' as I don't want it to break, put it to the test whilst it was in this case. The phone simply clips inside and is very sturdy, the phone has never fallen out of its clip and is actually pretty hard to remove, which is something I like for safety reasons. I dropped the phone onto tile flooring whilst the case was closed, from a height of about 7ft. This is little above my height, as I am 6ft2" and whilst making a call it could be easy to drop. The phone was fine, no scratch or scuff marks, and the screen was intact! I have tried this whilst the case is both opened and closed, and it seems that the case almost closes its self when it is dropped to protect the screen which is a massive pro for this casing!
Now, onto the bad things about this casing. As you can see, the hinge is leather, as you would expect it to be for style. This means that you have to fold over the leather {which doesn't damage it in any way}, whilst you are making a phone call, or it just flaps all over your face. The same goes for typing, it's difficult to type fast with both fingers, unless of course you fold the case over, which is no big deal! One other con with this product, is that when you first insert your credit card type objects, they are hard to remove and are a tight fit, but once you've put them in and removed them a few times, it becomes looser and things become much easier.
So theirs my review on this case. You can get it from eBay and I purchased it for £7.90 with free postage and packaging, from a UK supplier, so these aren't manufactured in Hong Kong or China. It's a great product, and if you're looking to free up some space in your pockets, whilst protecting your phone, I would definitely recommend this to you. It also comes with 2 free screen protectors and a cleaning cloth, which aren't great and I personally don't use them as it's gorilla glass, but some people do use them, and you've got 2, so if you put one on wrong or break one, you've got another go, well worth the money! I will shortly take some pictures of my case, and not use the one on eBay which could be seen as biased towards selling the product.
Thanks for reading the review!
Adam Downing
Just how hard is it to remove? Is it easy enough to remove that its not a negative when you get in the car and want to move it to the car holder?
It's not of great difficulty to remove, but you will need two hands to remove it. You have to lift it on either side and it unclips.
Thanks for the review, the case looks like a great thing to take out on the town with you, without having 4,5,6 different things to look after.

Here's my case. I bought it at a jumble sale for £0.50p and has seen me through four phones for nearly six years now. A bit clunky but it holds the phone in the front with a Velcro flap and all credit cards, notes my USB etc etc inside. It may not look the most modern but the design and quality is excellent. If it were a little slimmer it would be perfect.
Won't the cards be touching/scratching the Galaxy S?
In which one?

I've got this case, and I absolutely love it. In fact, my 15 year old (who has a Galaxy Portal) wants one for his phone...he thinks it's "cool". I own a Pdair book case, and a few other cases, but this case is definitely the best of them all.

I would delete that second picture. I can read quite a few of the numbers on your credit card and I'm not a determined crook.
Next time just pull the cards out, or just put one that isn't as sensitive.
Just got mine.. the seller kind enough to add me to the safe list so that I can buy the item..
I really like the case, sleek and stylish. You can see that it is really well made..
I got one of these and I'm in two minds about it, on the one hand I really like it the quality is excellent and I got it for a quid when they were on sale.
However, I really would far prefer a flip down because holding it when on a phone call is kinda awkward. It's such a pity because other than that it's pretty much the perfect case.
Hi! Have had this for a while now..and last 2weeks 2 of my bank cards has become unrecognized when trying to use them.. You had cards get broken? Hmm maybe to close to phone magnets? :-(

Galaxy S 5 Car mount

Recommend the best car mount here for Galaxy S 5.
A bit more expensive, but the CraigsDocks Dock is billet aluminum and low-profile and is true one-hand operation and adjustable to work with S2, S3, S4, Note series and now the S5.
http://www.craigsdocks.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-s4-note-2-3-car-dock/
I've had mine a year and won't have to buy a new one when I upgrade to the S5 because it fits all large Samsung superphones.
It's also adjustable to work with ALL cases, including the extra large cases that have built-in batteries.

I will be hoping to get The Air Dock shortly after my S5. This will be the best car dock hands down. Just need to make sure the S5 wireless charging covers or stickers don'd take long to arrive.

The air dock is what ultimately tipped the balance for me getting an S5, after seeing it I knew built-in Qi charging was a must have and since Sprint only offers the Nexus 5 in 16GB flavor (not nearly enough, I've got 15GB of stuff on my SD card today which easily exceeds the 12GB formatted capacity, not to mention 2 years from now).
Hope they will make something like this one :

Another vote for Craigsdocks. Absolutely the most adaptable car dock out there. Very well designed and crafted. Well worth the the cost.

It looks nice but the expense of it, $70 +20 for the charging coil, then still need a car charger so there's another $30(for an OEM)its a lot of money.
I got one of these a while back and its quite good, just make sure to hold the back of the phone whilst removing or sometimes the back cover comes lose on a clip or two with S4, the magnetism is quite strong.

Because its so hard to plug in USB lol, is it really worth an extra $75? Also there's no way that thing could output 2A so charging is going to be much slower, just my opinion.

have you ever used this before? I'm curious to know if it would cause any damage to the internals of the CD slot. I see it has amazing reviews at Amazon (which I trust for the most part) but wondering if you had any personal experience with it...

notice my cd changer is curved out but the rubber "fins" still fit snug and very sturdy. They are rubber and do no damage. if for some reason it just will not fit in there on your car model, you can always send it back worry free (with Prime) but it shouldn't be a problem. the grip has a light rubber pad and is controlled by a spring action adjustment. I love it because i can easily place my phone into it by pushing my phone up and in. I take it out with the same motion, press up and pull out. it is made in Korea and the material and parts are very well made.
I really don't know why some of the people here are buying 50-70 dollar suction phone mounts. that is a total rip off.

I ordered a similar one, well basically identical, and it fits superbly in my 2008 honda accord exl. It sits just below all the controls. I was some what worried about it not reaching out far enough as the cd player is recessed when compared with all the radio and nav controls. But it's about as perfect as possible. The best part about this mount in my opinion is that it keeps a person like myself from having to many items on the windshield. Without this I'd have- Radar Detector, Phone, toll tag, and gps, way to many things, phone being the largest of them all. Anyway, I'll take some pictures and maybe a mini review later. I highly recommend to anyone who want a good out of the way docking solution.

Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard

Been using this for a day now, aesome and very stylish.
Best part it doubles as a case, also has the android key functions on the keyboard.
Keyboard takes a little adjusting to a small but very good quality.
Was originally £80 but got it for £50 from Samsung online.

I got a Bluetooth keyboard too. Pure white, low-profile, and quiet typing, I think it just got all great things a keyboard should. If it is paper-thin, paper-light, then I'm in heaven!

Can you please advise if the keyboard and tablet can connect together with the tablet screen facing up rather than the screen facing down onto Keys?
Or is it possible to use a hard case on the table with the keyboard?

It cannot close that way because the recessed part that the tablet hooks into is expecting a curve instead of the straight edge of the tablet face.
No...there is no way a case would work with this. It is very snug.
My observations are the case could use a couple of magnets to keep the tablet in the slot.
And I don't like that the keys are cupped, flat keys would allow more strike tolerance...
Otherwise it's a great case and definitely protect the device well...
PS... I agree with the question that it would be nice if the tablet snapped in facing up so make the case and tablet one piece when holding...
I swapped back to the book case but purely as I wasn't typing as much.
The case combo is so cool though.
Battery life lasts ages for me but I'm and infrequent user.

Do you think one can DIY? I think it can be done by using double-sided tape and a few strip of magnets. Tape a strip on the slot and one the bottom back side of the tablet. How about velcro tape? Something similar to iPad's smart cover.

The problem is it raises the tablet and makes it unstable. The magnet needs to be inside the case/keyboard to work right.
As it is it works fine on a flat surface like a table, the problem is using it on your lap or other places where tablets replace laptops...
I've all but stopped trying to type on the keyboard, the cupping on the keys makes it next to impossible to get used to... I got the Logitech keyboard to type on and just use this one as a hard shell case...
Does the keyboard work like a usb keyboard or you can only use it as bluetooth?

High probability of losing the pen

After using the S6 over the weekend a few times, I'm almost sure I will lose the pen unless I buy a case that covers it. While I like the idea of how it sits on the back of the tablet slightly indented they should have made the magnet the whole pen instead of just the pointer area. Its not strong enough to hold it in place from an accidental hand bump etc.
I have the keyboard cover on order (arriving Friday). I'm being extra cautious with the pen until that arrives. It doesn't take much of a bump to knock it off.

I agree that the method of stowing the stylus this year is terrible. On the other hand, in previous years the stylus couldn't be stowed at all, so in that sense, it's an improvement.
The keyboard cover, on the other hand, is a big improvement on the design of previous years. With that, the stylus can be very safely transported.
Duct tape fixes everything. Or for a more permanent solution, a little JB Weld and your S-Pen isn't going anywhere. Ever.
So i got my tab yesterday, at first Ithought the attachment wasn't bad, but then after using for the day Ihave to say Itoo am very dissapointed in the spen attachment. This is nearly as dangerous as the oriignal apple pencil pluggin into the bottom port of the ipad to charge. Do the people that design these things actually try to use them?

The Note phones somehow have enough room to store the S-Pen inside. Why can't they find the room on a 10" tablet? I know the pen is thicker but I think most people would trade a slightly thinner pen for a way to securely store it.
If you're actively using the device but not the pen it'll also stick to the lower right side of the device in portrait mode. Not a great solution, but I find it easier to have it there and not accidently knock it off like when it's on the back. It doesn't charge in this location, but that shouldn't be an issue since this pen uses a battery with longer life then the capacitor style like the Note 9 was. Or I just toss it on the table/couch/whatever near me if I'm at home or work. Within reach when I want it, but not going to fall off when I absentmindedly grab the tablet in the wrong way.
I'm waiting on my keyboard cover to arrive and then I don't think it being on the back will be a big deal anymore. Kind of sucks that's where it has to go to charge because I liked my case for my S3 that held it to the left of the screen in the hinge of the screen cover part basically. Sucks they've never made a more permanent solution, and this is the first time it actually has a storage spot, but so long as the devices get thinner and thinner I don't see them putting it inside like on the Notes since they want the tablet pens to be more ergonomically friendly.
I lost my S-Pen early in. One solution was using an Otterbox. The Tab could be secured to the tablet cover/stand, face-up, so the pen is secured.
In the interim, I am using a spare pen from a Fujitsu Lifebook tablet.

I bought this one and it holds the pen very nicely. It's easy to get in and out.

Highly recommend! Not everyone has the same requirements https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81903145&postcount=24) but I tried four other cases before this one.

That's the one I bought. I like it very much.
Has anybody ever succeeded in buying a full-function replacement pen from Samsung? I tried to buy a spare one when I bought the Tab S6, but all I got was a glazed stare from the salesperson. Would be nice if Samsung at least tried to make up for the sucky magnet. ;-DeanoD
