[Q] Canvas 2 Rooting with Jellybean

Hi Gurus,
I have always got all my answers on XDA-developers.com..... You people are simply the best.... Thanks for your support always.
I got my new Canvas 2 two months back. I have a problem that my GPS is not responding. I have googled a lot for the same and all reply that only method is to root my phone.
Also to note that I have already upgraded it to Jellybeans yesterday, but still GPS is not responding.
Now I think of rooting my phone but I have a clear idea that it will void my warranty. But I am very sure that XDA-developers will surely have some method out here to root the phone and again unroot the same so that I can gain my warranty back.
Please do help so that I can resolve my GPS issue I am really stucked.

Yes we are here to help you . Yeah you can root pr unroot your device anytime as you want . just install MTK tools and flash it with a custom rom . i will suggest you SUVI ROM V6 Hit thanks if i helped

First you need to download your device drivers and install it to your computer .
2. download Suvi rom from thred section
3. extract it in a folder
4. switch off your device , remove the bettery
5. press + and - volume and Power keys together .
6. install apx driver
7 . A popup sound cm
8 . place files in MTK TOOLS which you have extacted it in a folder and start the installation .
switch off the device after success .
Done . Enjoy your rooted device .. HIT THANKS

i am posting the solution for your problem, however i advice you that from now on before posting a query, or starting a thread, please go through the threads, as many problems have already been sorted and solutions are already there, moreover by going through the threads you will significantly increase ypur knowledge abt the device, etc
SO HERE IS YOUR SOLUTION
or all of those who are facing this problem, i am posting the link here follow the instructions given there,
1) http://d-h.st/zEb this is for the official mmx jb 1.11 rom

now to begin, first install mmx a110 drivers(connect your phone via usb now swithch off phone without disconnecting, wait for a few min drivers will be installed,) second download file no 2 (vcom drivers) install them on your pc/laptop
now if you have already flashed jb 1.11, then open sp flash tool, click scatter loading choose MT6577_android_scatter_emmc.txt, it will load everything , now deselect every option except recovery( very imp make sure u deselect every option except recovery) click on recovery and choose the file you downloaded in option 4( and renamed recovery.img)
now turn off your phone, take out the battery, and keep it aside,
in sp flash tools click download button(not firmware upgrade) after that connect your phone(in powered off battery rmoved state) via usb, and you will have cwm recovery.
now after flashing, close flash tool, disconnect phone and power up,
now transfer the files you downloaded in step 5, to your sd card. now switch off the phone, hold vol down +vol up+ power button, get into recovery follow instructions there and get into cwm recovery, now choose option install from sd card and go to the files you transferred to your sd card from pc(one u downloaded in step 5) and just install them, NOW GIV URSELF A HIGH FIVE YOU HAVE ROOTED UR MMX

if you want to unroot just flash the official mmx update via sp flash tool. and your pfone will be stored to factory condition

Can u pls explain the process with screenshots that how to unroot canvas2 to official jellybean??

Before you guys shoot me down, Just wanted to say, i searched XDA for 2 hours, couldn't find the exact reply. And a few topics are open since a year with no reply, So thinking that someone will reply to me. I am opening this "Need Help" Ticket.
I have a micromax a110 with 4.04 - as i got no update ever! So what i did was
Rooted the phone properly as per the procedure.

Downloaded the [ROM][4.2.2] CanvaS5™ V1.1 Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775553
After flashing the rom properly, when i reboot the phone, it gets stuck on the boot screen forever. Am i doing something wrong? Should i have flashed a kernel? or something. Please note, i am not looking into going back to stock, as i have moved into the dark side of the root world .
Since i have just been a Read-only user of XDA for all this while(more than a year), with no posts ever, i cant request for help on the Developer Thread as it requires privileges. Requesting someone to please post this topic there so i can speak to the dev or please give me a answer to help me:silly:

That Recovery you flashed is SELinux enabled and is not supported by 4.1-4.2.2 Jelly bean Roms so you have got boot loop . You can try other recovery or flash higher android version roms .

How to i put the CMW in the phones root directory now for it to flash? The phone doesnt start so cant access it through usb. Any ideas?

Since your phone is not booting you should use SP Flash tool on PC to flash the recovery. Here's a guide to SP Flash tool:

Thanks dude, for your quick response. I wont be able to confirm on this today as setting up SP Flash tool is just too hard. It talks about some scatter file. I dont know how to make that.Let me get a grip on that, will confirm then. Thanks for the help anyhow

Great , Here the link for official Jelly bean update for your device by micromax as said in that post . I think that file has scatter file (it contains your phone's storage partition info ) . There is also guide to flash using SP Flash tool . Use it .

Hey shreyas,
I have tried it with SP tools, it doesnt work, man. Drivers, Softwares, updated all of them, i keep doing everything. I know i am doing something wrong, but its hard to identify, spent like the entire night trying to make it. Can't i get a flashable zip for CMW instead or know that on which rom did the CWM selinux work on? This boot looping is now killing :fingers-crossed:

Finally, i found a way, thanks 4Shreyas for all the help. Gave me knowledge and helped me identify the errors.
I couldn't flash the rom or the cmw recvoery through the pc as the drivers for SP tools never worked on my Win 8.1 x64. Finally applied the stock jellybean file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160609 . It updated my CMW since that was the problem i was stuck in bootloop.
After that i flash the phone with my desired rom.
In the end, all good:laugh:

Cheers bro !!!! Yes getting MTK drivers in win 8 is a challenging task and as SELinux CWM recovery is concerned you can flash 4.3.x and 4.4.x roms . Google it , if any rom is available then use that recovery to flash those roms .

True that, i actually gave up trying to find the drivers. There arnt any 4.3 or 4.4.x roms released for mmx. When they do, will surely apply the Selinux CWM. Thanks for all the help .:good:

it's my first time to rom my mobile
it's steps what i do
1- clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3 for samsung galaxy ace plus
2- Rooted my mobile and got a Supersu app after restart mobile
3- put rom file .zip in my sd and shutdown my mobile
4- i go in recovery and Wipe your data/cache, including the Dalvik Cache.
5 - when i try to setup the rom i got " status 7 install aborted "

1. If i don't have any recovery, flash clockworkmemory or twrp! In my opinion is better twrp
2. Copy .zip into your sd card
3. Reboot into recovery
4. Wipe data, cache, dalvik e system! Remember, is very important wipe System for an clean installation
5. Flash zip from sd-card
6. Reboot

There is some problem to be highlighted after installation of cynogenmod11 OS in Samsung GT-S7500 model.
Request you ton please fix this issues in upcoming updates.
1) Restart the Mobile after 4-5 Hrs duration.
2) Restart the Mobile after disconnecting USB from PC.
3) Sometime mobile are totally hang during using of application like Whatapp, Hike, Facebook messenger etc.
4) Video recording not working.
5) Camera pic quality is poor.
6) Battery draining faster.

I can't localize my position with GPS.
I tried Sygic, (new and old versions), Copilot. I activated only the gps of the device. But it never finds my position.

hi first can i say a big thanx for all the hard work you do. so far im trying to decide if speed mod or this rom is the best. i prefer all the things on this 1 but only thing making me favour speed mod is the option to use external has primary. ive tried all the different options i read on how to swap on cm11 but none seem to work for me, if thi option was available this rom would be the best by far

When you have downloaded the zip, have you unzip and edited it? Or have directly flashed the zip?
Anyway, is strange or is a recovery's problem or you have edited the zip in some way

I have not idea, you should try!
I'm not sure, but if you'll brick the phone you can restore with re-flashing the stock rom

please help guys i have no recovery or factory reset
Hi thanx for all your time and effort you put into roms. I have been using cm11 for few weeks but all of a sudden i cant enter recovery or do factory reset I've tried hard reset I've tried factory reset option but nothing works. My phone tries to enter recovery because screen flashes then stays blank but i can enter download mode. I was going to try Odin but im worried has i have no nandroid back up. Please help guys if anyone has a answer for this i will be very grateful. My phone has been working great up until now

Probably you are trying to flash the rom with CWM you must change the recovery, flash TWRP 2.5.0.0 with odin

Tried but in TWRP it is just skipping MD5 sum and said process complete but inside the phone nothing changed. I don't know what to do, in TWRP I am unable to locate my old back up while in CMW it is not allowing me to go back using same back giving me error of MD5 sum.

same problem here Stuck @ android boot logo

struck at android boot logo
Hi,
I tried to install the update but the phone is struck at android boot logo
I had already install the android 5 by rohit gupta and fusion rom by akilendra gadde.so skiped the system partition size step.
Before flashing the update I had correctly install the rival rom version 1 as required and currently using the rom .
I am using Micromax A110 with internal storage of 1.4 GB and ram is 471 mb

Not able to boot into recovery or rom
Buddy, i flashed the rom as per the procedure and it worked awesome but the lock screen does not open once it is locked .
I had to reboot the phone to get into the os .
Do i thought if i reflashed the rom it would solve the problem and tried it .
After flashing it when i hit the reboot now option it told me that i don't have root access and asked me if it can root the mobile so ichoose yes and when it rebooted the rom stuck at bootloop and when i tried to get into recovery mode there was no recovery .
Now im stuck at bootloop + no recovery. Plz help me bro

Finally i got the rom
to all those who got boot stuck...
after aroma installation just flash any kernel
and njoy the rom on ur phone

Bro can i flash dolby digital on this rom

unable to adjust brightness
using the rom since 2 days. the rom is awesome. But I am unable to adjust brightness. In settings too selecting brightness fc settings. also battery consumption is bit high mite be bcoz of brightness. Kindly provide a patch for it. Otherwise everything works fine.

Camera is not working
My camera is not working neither the torch any suggestions. When I open the camera app(both of them) it shows "Can't connect to camera". Clear all for recent panal not working too.

yes but it did not work for me when i used twrp recovery or cmw recovery. Philz recovery works . And the partition is absolutely necessary or else you will get stuck in a boot loop.

It seems you were using twrp recovery. And what exactly you mean by no recovery.

so recommended recovery is twrp or philz which one is safe N Better

Philz with rejoice kernal . at least it works with no bootloop. Follow all the steps with these two works for sure.. Yeah its safe and better .

use recovery_philz_6.50.6.it works for me

stuck after boot animation
sir,
i have done system partition and i also flashed v1 .
then i flashed v3 rom and after aroma launcher i flashed 4.2 kernal but it just stuck after boot animation, its only showing android and not moving further.
tried multiple times.
plssss help

Error : Play store has stopped
Hello Frnd,
I manage to install the rom but i got one error that Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped.
and the worst thing is that it occur frequently that i am unable to even dial a number.
kindly look at screen shot and suggest.

I was facing same issue but when i try Quick setting app which is already present in system apps
over there we can select the auto brightness off.

Bug in rom
Hello anybody there to help .... ????
A error occur continuously and i am unable to open any app not even able to type a massage.
