Lockscreen widgets - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Themes and Apps

I thought I would share these that I found in the S5 forums and tested on my phone. Lockscreen widgets were some of my favorite features and I was sad to see them go. These two modules allow you to put widgets on your lockscreen again. The first one allows widgets on the lockscreen if you don't use security abs the second one needs to be installed on top of the other and is only needed if you use some type of security.

Vertical scrolling on homescreens?

I was playing around with the HTC bookmark widget earlier, and noticed widgets can be dragged up and down. Are there any widgets available that act as a blank overlay for the homescreen, which can also scroll vertically to view more widgets and shortcuts? This can be helpful to access more on each homescreen and provided no one else knows about the vertical scroll, hiding a few "work documents" .

how long have you had your phone again?
just about everyone knows about scrollable widgets.
and no you cant make a homescreen vertically scrollable.
1. You are being a ****.
2. He didn't ask about scrollable widgets.
3. Yes its possible it would just require some heavy knowledge and coding.
I wasn't announcing that widgets could scroll, I was providing an example. Nor did I ask if it was possible to make the homescreen scroll. What I'm asking IS possible. I was only asking if it already exists.

I haven't seen anything like that and I understand what you are asking. You would need to go to the android app dev section to see if someone will take A TON of time to make a full screen vertical scrolling widget that you can place other widgets in.
Would it be impossible to look at bookmark widget's code as a basis? As for integrating shortcuts into a widget, I could probably try and contact the dev of Multi icon. That should take care of the major concerns, right?
I dont know if you could make a widget that lets you host other widgets or shortcuts. but there are 2 options that may work for you
one is the folder system, you can make folders to keep your app shortcuts in, but they will not allow you to nest widgets inside of them.
another option is to use a secondary launcher like launcher pro or ADW launcher, and when you want to access the shortcuts or widgets that are in that launcher you can open it up. then you can set one of the launchers to be the default when you hit the home button, or have it ask you each time you hit it.
just my 2 cents, but don't give up on the widget inside a widget idea, im sure a bunch of people would like to have that ability

The program/shortcut integrated in a widget is performed perfectly on the Multi icon widget. Pre-existing widgets in the widget haven't been included, but the dev has begun creating specialty widgets. I do recommend checking it out.

I've tried QuickDesk, which keeps your current launcher, but enables a popup homescreen when you double tap the home button. It's not the smoothest process by any means, and somehow makes HTC Sense pop up in your home button long press. If you know of any better attempts at this, I'd like to see how those work as opposed to this one. It may be simpler than eventually having to create a new one, right?
Actually, being able to pull up or down on the home screen to activate something like quickdesk would be pretty cool. QD kinda sucks having to double tap on it, and the response is laggy because the button is getting confused as to what it's supposed to do.
as far as I know, the only Launcher that provides vertical scrolling functionality is HTCSense. It also provides the EditText widget as a RemoteView.
**in Android world, a "widget" is any GUI object, really. While the widgets we talk about adding to a Home screen is really called an "AppWidget"**
Its all about how the Launcher handles and behaves with RemoteViews.
For a Launcher to allow one of its AppWidgets to contain and run another AppWidget, that Launcher would have to provide a huge heap of new RemoteViews and surrounding functionality...or, the AppWidget container would have to somehow import the child AppWidget App and run it internally (not possible I think!).
There's a chance that MIUI (a new Chinese Launcher) provides AppWidget-within-Folder functionality. It may then expose custom RemoteViews and API interfaces to allow AppWidgets to be developed to do similar things

Lockscreen Weather?

After playing with the Sensation and Sense for a couple days now? The ability to run weather on my lockscreen has literally just blown me away. I don't really care about the prettiest app to do it but in your experience? What's the most reliable lockscreen weather app?
Widgetlocker + your favorite Weather widget
I use WidgetLocker and add Fancy Widgets and/or Beautiful Widgets. Love the options available between those.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've been playing with both for the last couple days. Anything else that puts the weather on the lockscreen?
I like GOTO lockscreen. It's visually impressive (though weather is certainly not the focus of it's visuals and is only a small part) and has practical uses like quickly jumping to phone, SMS, gmail, being able to set phone silent or vibrate, and music lockscreen controls (though this only works with stock music players), weather, battery, phone owner's name on lockscreen.

Still not satisfied with all of these choices. Anything else out there?
I use go laucher and go weather, but widget weather of HTC is the one!
is there a way to turn off the animation that comes on after the unlock of a phone?

Launchers + Lockscreen changes to your needs

We would love to have apps that we want to be present at the right time for easy use and we dont want to scroll through our app drawer to find it.
These launchers and lockscreen will understand you and provide you with the apps you want at the right time without you telling them.
COVER: [coverscreen.com] this is a lockscreen that will give you the apps that you want directly in the lockscreen at the right time. It has an awesome feature called "Peek" that will let you to peek into your app as if it is already opened under the lockscreen.
AVIATE: [getaviate.com] this is a home launcer that will change its homescreen for presenting you the things that you want at the right time.
EVERYTHING.ME: [everything.me] it is a launcher which will change dynamically based on the things that you want. the coolest thing is it even changes the wallpaper based on the thing that you have asked for it.

[Q] Most widgets not available for lock screen (KitKat 4.4)?

I hope I'm just doing something stupid ...
I can't add most widgets I've downloaded to my lock screen on my Nexus 5 ... though they all work fine adding to my home screen. Only a few (like Android Weather) are available when hit the "plus" on a blank lockscreen.
All I want is a brightness widget that can make the display bright so I can properly put in my password in bright sunlight (I never set my brightness to auto, it's too annoying for me).
ie. Power Widget lite would be perfect for my needs!
Any one having the same problem? Any ideas?
I have the same problem. Wanted to add some beautiful clock widget to homescreen (don't remember exactly which one), downloaded, installed, went to add to homescreen - no luck.
Why can't you get something like power toggles. Then you could pull down notification bar on lockscreen and toggle brightness to what you wanted. An extra step I know

I can add everything I've downloaded add to homescreen. But almost none can be added to my lockscreens. That's my problem.

Very cool app, thanks for pointing it out. But ... I can't pull down the notification bar when the phone is locked ... how are you able to?
you add widgets on your lockscreen by enabling them in security. there's a checkbox that says "enable widgets"

Yep, did that. The thing is only SOME can be added. Very few that I've downloaded (even though they all seem to work on home screens).

Wow AWESOME app! That's exactly what I need! I was looking for a bunch of widgets on one row, which the lockscreen doesn't even seem to allow, but this widget already let me configure everything I needed in one row of buttons.
It turns out that THIS widget CAN be placed on the lockscreen (I'm not talking about the one visible in the notification bar, I can only access that when the phone's already unlocked).
BUT ... I still want to know why most widgets can't get placed on the lockscreen to begin with. Are they not Android 4.4-lockscreen-compatible yet?

The widgets have to be enabled to work on the lock screen by the developer.

Aha! Didn't expect that widgets needed special lock screen support.
So there's home screen widgets, lock screen widgets, notification bar widgets, ... I wonder what other classes of apps I'm missing - widget widgets? It would be nice if Google Play Store could search based on widget class.

How to edit lock screen

Im wanting to edit my lockscreen kind of like we already edit our homescreen. In particular im looking to get my agenda and a snapshot of the weather on the lockscreen. Is this possible? If so how, oh and im not looking to use a launcher as i like the layout and feel of touch wiz. Thanks
You can't without root. Some manufacturers (e.g. HTC) will have weather info etc. on their lock screens natively, but Samsung doesn't unfortunately.
Well thats stupid! Okay option two/three. Any good lockscreen apps that replace existing lockscreen that dont lag? Or any launchers that sill allow me to keep my own theme and app style and layout but allow me to customize the lockscreen?

I don't know of any lock screen apps off the top of my head because I never use any, but I know they're on the Play Store, so just do a search and see which one would probably fit your needs. Also, the launcher and lock screen are two different things, so installing a custom launcher just affects the home screen and app drawer.

I tried that, and its giving me loads of issues any other suggestions? Thanks
I always used AcDisplay on my past android phones. I haven't set it up on my S7, so I don't honestly recall all the features, but I always liked it so that's a good place to start.
May just be for notifications but I really can't remember.
Try hi locker it uses the fingerprint scanner has good media and notifications has calendar and weather as well
