Tempered Glass Screen Protectors - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Anyone who currently owns an LG G2 knows the frustration of not being able to use a Tempered glass screen protector.
(yes there are many on the market but none of them fit 100%)
This is due to the "2.5D" screen glass, with its curved edges.
A Flat piece of glass just simply does not fit over a curved one.
The Note 4 has this same type of screen with curved edges, as does the iPhone 6.
All the major players in tempered glass screen protectors have said they are looking into it.
Think anyone can figure out how to make a curved glass screen protector to fit?

better to say as same as S3 (don't compare SAMSUNG GALAXY with apple iphone )
i remember the solution for screen protectors for S3 was small size.
i mean not edge to edge protector.
but for temp-glass...
maybe some glass + plastic i mean plastic for edge of screen and glass for front
two types of material in one protector !!!
i think its possible! (maybe )

There are already tempered protectors being sold on eBay, I've just ordered mine, they also state the 2.5D part too, we'll see what it's like when it arrives (a week or two after I actually get it, if it arrives on day one)

here this might be good for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Tempered Glass), a ballistic tempered glass screen protector
http://goo.gl/lkrAKf

Will be getting that tempered glass for sure. Out of curiosity, what effect (if any) does the glass have on the touch performance or S-Pen performance?

I'm going to wait and use a quality traditional type protector as also concerned about if the Samsung flip will close properly.

None for me.

I ordered from sw-box.com, we'll see how it turns out. For less then $4 I won't complain.

I just placed my order for the Mime Ghost glass protector. They have the best protectors Imo.

so the note4 has the same curved screen type as the note2? that's essentially what this 2.5D is right?

Well, my protector has arrived, wayyyyy before the device has.
I thought it was just going to be Note 3 protector rebadged, but it isn't, it wouldn't fit the Note 3, but until my 4 arrives, I can't see what the fit is like.

Google Nexus 4 Screen Protector Steinheil Dual

Just a heads up for any fellow SGP fans. They now have a crystal clear protector for the front AND back of the N4. i really wish they had an ultra eleophobic version, but i've used the crystal clear on my e4gt and have been extremely satisfied with the quality of the product. clarity is crystal clear just like the name states, and its very durable.

Just ordered. Thanks for the heads up!

Do these cover the entire screen?
Do these have the cutouts for the sensors and Why do these other ones have such bad reviews?

I think the front only covers the screen areas not the curved parts. The back since its flat might be fully covered

guess the complaints come from people who bought it early.
SGP has stated that they now include the proximity sensor cutout for all their N4 screen protectors.
Bought the dual protector and will see if its good. been holding off for too long to let the companies iron out the creases
these do have the proximity sensor cutout. it doesnt cover the front completely due to the curved glass, the following is a review of the oleophobic protector on a One X which also has curved glass. the reviewer points it out at about 1:50. I actually dont mind it, and it isnt even noticeable. only way you're going to get one that covers the entire screen is if its a wet application protector. but the quality/feel of wet apply protectors is just not for me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcV0AJzNC4U
No SGP protector completely covers the front screen. They are cut too short all around and do NOT extend to cover the area just before the curved glass and the curved portion itself.
There was also massive issue with the proximity sensors malfunctioning due to SGP. They have allegedly "revised" it but no telling if you get stuck with some old stock.
Personally, I've owned and dealt with SGP. Too many negatives with their product and too many other better choices to be bothered buying from them anymore. I can't recommend them but good luck to those that do buy.
Note: If you want a screen protector that covers the ENTIRE SCREEN including the curved edges with cutouts for Proximity censors and camera, I highly recommend Skinomi.

Do you have the Skinomi protector installed? If so, how does the screen feel and does it work with a case?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I got the SGP before they fixed it, no cut out so the phone was a pain to use, also if you do not get the screen protector exactly in the center of the screen one side tends to lift due to the stiffness of the film. I sent mine back and ordered a Skinomi, should have that tomorrow.
Funny as my Spigen does not have the proximity cutout, only the camera and everything functions as it should.

Yes, I've had my Skinomi on for over a week (front & back).
The screen protector adds a tiny bit of grip which is great for keeping it from sliding off surfaces. It's not sticky like I've found some other screen protectors like Zagg but it's not as butter smooth as the naked screen, as to be expected!
My fingers glide smoothly over the screen with no noticeable drag. So far it feels great. Again, not as good as the naked glass but almost.

I ordered the oleophobic screen protector for my N4 (which I'm still waiting for from Google) and found out I did not receive the revised one. A quick email to them ended up in me receiving a second set for free days later without needing to return the ones I already have
I find Skinomi and most wet application screen protectors to easily form imprints and wrinkles that don't "heal" perfectly after a while, although still not bad. Just received an XOSkins full body kit from their Cyber Monday sale which I'll compare to the Skinomi one on my iPod Touch. I'm also getting the bumper, so the lack of full coverage on the SGP really doesn't affect me.
I just got my oleophobic and although it seems to be recommended by everyone, it got scratched from day one. Never had the same problem with Zagg or others. Conclusion: I wouldnt recommend SPIGEN! Sounds fancy - "olephobic"- but doesn't actually protect or fit as well as others.

Oleophobic coatings are always softer than glass. By ordering that one, you essentially chose fingerprint resistance over scratch resistance. Glass with oleophobic coatings is also more prone to scratches because the coating itself scratches or wears down with use. Ask anyone with an iPhone 4.
If you want scratch resistance, get a harder screen protector (like the Ultra Crystal).

Is it tempered glass? Does it go all the way to the edges?
its just a "plastic" layer but very inflexible and rigid...does not go all the way to the edges but covers approx. 99% of the screen. Surface is very glasslike verrrry smooth..smoother than the raw display of the note.

Galaxy S6 screen protector...

So...if the Galaxy S6 will have the edge feature on both sides wouldn't that make making a screen protector for it a nightmare? I am still getting the device because I am a Samsung fan boy but....
Re: S6 Screen protectors
I actually found a compatible screen protector for my Note Edge. The film contours around the edges. You may wanna check them out. IQShield screen protectors. I'm also a certified Samsung follower and yeah,it's kinda difficult to find screen protectors with the edges.
i don't see how the edge will be a problem with a protector, it's not like the film can't be wrapped around. screen protector are so retro and pointless. i never put one on my s4 and its been 2 years and not a single scratch on the screen.
IMO, screen protectors help protect the value of your device especially if you're considering a resale. In my case, I'm tad a bit clumsy and so, having screen protector is a must. I feel like it's vulnerable if I leave my device naked.
The only real screen protector that will contour to the edge will be a wet-application one. Iloome did have a prototype curved tempered glass for the Note Edge, but it had issues and they haven't provided any updates about it in a while.

as i said before, 2 years with no screen protector on my S4 and not a single scratch on it. same thing with my S3.. sold it after a year and a half in practically mint condition for $180 and screen was flawless. besides, screen protectors take away from the glorous screen and i could care less about resell value because i buy phones to enjoy them as it comes, i do not buy them to preserve it for someone else to enjoy lol.. the last time i used a protector was when i had a htc touch pro when screens were plastic. to each their own i guess.
Case or screen protector..Possibly both. It's kind of interesting to see double edge on the S6 edge.. Honestly I might go with a case until I found a screen protector that won't diminish the crispiness of the screen. so will see.
With Gorilla Glass 4, will these be necessary?
No, it's not really necessary, but for a few bucks you can buy a tempered glass one if you really are a bit clumsy, but gorilla glass normally is difficult to scratch.
found a tempered glass one here for preorder, it's on sale and only $4, can't go wrong.
I think a wet screen protector would work well for the Edge. I just hope that someone comes out with a clear, frosted/matte protector for the glass on the back to protect from scratches and reduce smudges.

Well, the glass ones have to have a sticky residue to stick to the phone. I'm sure that it's difficult for those companies to make a perfectly curved glass and have that coating underneath. I'm excited to see some of the attempts, though. I think that this is going to be one of those things that just takes a long time for the companies to figure out, and I'm sure we'll get some humorous images on here before someone gets it right.

Verizon's S6 Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I haven't seen mention of this, so I thought I would share. Verizon is selling a tempered glass screen protector for the S6 on their site. I didn't have to pay for it (corporate plan) so that wasn't a factor for me.
Not all glass screen protectors are created equal - the .2mm thickness would be worth the extra price for me if it is really that thin.

I don't think you'd notice the thickness once it's on. I've got a .3 on my Note 3 and it's like it's not there. It's perfectly flush with the home button ... no accidental presses
No need to pay that much for tempered glass. I've had tempered glass screen protectors below $10 that are just as durable and thin as the ones that cost more than $20

on the Note 4 and the S6, the screen curves - because of that - most glass screen protectors have a halo effect around the edge. Icarez released a .15 glass protector for the Note 4 and it was the only one I have seen (and I have looked at a bunch) that did not have a halo.
The reason? The thinness of the glass screen protector - the thinner it is, the easier it can adhere to the curve that slopes at the edges of the screen.
None of the glass screen protectors cover the entire screen -even the .15 thin one - but with a case on it, you can't really tell.
The .2 thin one from verizon may just be thin enough to avoid the dreaded halo effect. I havent seen any thin ones lke this for the S6 yet so I am going to try it. I do have the Icarez .15 on my note four and I LOVE IT!

The POINT Here is that the Note 4 and the S6 are different from the NOTE 3 - that is why they get a halo effect when you use a typical glass screen protector. If you don't beleive me, go ahead and waste your money buying a one of the usual glass screen protector for your new S6 and see what happens -
I discovered on the NOTE 4 that a very thin glass screen protector (.15 thin) does not leave a halo effect - it stands to reason that if he S6 also has a curved screen - like the note 4 - then if you use a thin glass screen protector on it, it won;t have a halo effect either. I know for a fact that if you use a normal style glass screen protector, you are very likely almost guarenteed to have some halo effect. I am not sure if the .2 thin screen protector that Verizon is promoting is thin enough or not - but I am hoping it is. From my experience (and that of many others on XDA) is that most screen protectors of .3 thinness (most of the ones on he market that I have seen) is too thick and will cause that halo effect.
The curved screen on the NOte 4 and the S6 makes it very difficult for the typical glass screen protectors to adhere to the edges - so you get a sort of HALO effect all around the edges of the Glass Screen Protector. (By the way, I am not talking the really severe curved screen of he S6 Edge -I am talking abut the normal S6 - and the way the glass curves all the way around the phone on the edges.
When the glass screen protector is very THIN you are not as likely to get the HALO effect because the thin glass screen protector is more flexible and less rigid than the thicker screen protectors.

I'm not sure of the brand, but it claims to be only .2mm thick, possibly the thinnest I have seen. I have ordered one with my pre-order and can report when it arrives:

I bought the screen protector from Verizon - and it is a very good one - there is a very slight halo effect - very slight - but it is the smallest halo I have seen from any of the glass screen protectors for the S6 - my experience on the note 4 was that until you get down to something like .15 thin, you are likely to get a halo effect with any glass screen protector - at .15 the glass is thin enough to avoid that from happening - but I don't think there are any .15 thin screen protectors for the S6 - as such, I am happy with Verizon's (Icaraz) at .20. Very nice.

LG V10 Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I just reviewed the LG V10 Tempered Glass Screen Protector from Supershieldz®. Nice Fit, no bubbles, no lifting edges. Check out my review
MOD Edit: Referral links not allowed and have been removed
Got mine and it installed perfectly. It covers the view screen area but i do wish that it goes all the way on both sides since the side rails are elevated. Would have been easier to align it with the sides flush. The screen is flat so i dont think there would be any halo effect. Ill live with the gaps for now.

Did I see correctly that the protector goes over the two front cameras? Don't most screen protectors leave a cutout for the cameras? Doesn't having a glass placed over the the camera deteriorate the camera quality and the pictures it takes?

From the product pictures it shows a cutout for the 2 camera area. I cannot confirm nor deny if it really is cutout though as i have not purchased yet.
We have a winner! Yootech V10 Glass protector covers edge to edge! Glass has camera cut outs. No bubbles! Perfect!!

I actually did want to try out the SuperShieldz screen, but for whatever reason, they aren't available through Amazon Prime. I can't wait much longer for a screen, and the expedited shipping ended up being more than the price of the protector itself. And since basically every other screen is out of stock, I jumped the gun and ordered this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0154RS59Q
Truth be told I'm not going to expect a whole lot out of this one. I'm just getting it to tide me over until Zagg comes out with a protector for this phone, because I'm really not comfortable using the phone without one.
But who knows? Maybe it will end up being a keeper - it even comes with a lifetime warranty. I'll be sure to let everyone know if it's good or not when it comes in.

I have Supershieldz bought from eBay.
Installation is rather easy, but it has some space on left and right sides.
Delete please
Pleson now has TGSP for V10 and it looks pretty nice !
I ordered the Tauri. Not sure on the brand, but will give it a go and see.
Spigen is $10 at eBay.
This is what I ordered, it's hell waiting for it to get here.

Wow those thin edges over the cam usually break, wonder how it will hold up. Nice design tho.

Wow, 0.26mm is indeed the thinnest, just wonder will it be very easy to break and can it still protect your phone , as other brands usually don't make that thin
Don't forget the easy clean (oleophobic) layer.
Some fade rather quickly that makes the surface pretty nasty.
So far Supershieldz looks OK.
