[Q] Wireless charging and otg at the same time question

Canyou charge the galaxy s3 wirelessly and use otg at the same time? Do you think this would be possible on the nexus 4?
Has anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried this?
I would also like to know if this is possible! (on any device)
Galaxy SIII OTG + chariging = NO
I've tried this recently because I needed to know myself.
It is NOT possible to do USB OTG and wireless charging at the same time. Wireless charging simply disables the USB port. And when something is connected to the USB port wireless charging is ignored. Even when only a OTG cable is connected (no mouse or USB stick) wireless charging is not possible.
Sad but true
Edit:
The same applies for the Galaxy Nexus phone with it's pogo-pins for charging. One excludes the other.
The only device that I've found and tested to be capable of USB OTG and charging at the same time is the Nexus 7. (charging trough dock, pogo-pins).
Another way to accomplish USB OTG + charging is to use a edited kernel.. About to try this on de Galaxy Nexus.

[Q] USB Hub and Charging

I want to connect my Galaxy S3 to a USB hub but also charge it at the same time. That way I could connect my keyboard, mouse, thumbdrive and PS3 controller while still charging my phone. Is this possible?
I was thinking through a Y-cable I could charge it while the other side connected to the USB hub.
Does anyone know if this will work natively?
Do I have to do anything to my GS3 to enable this functionality?

The S3 automatically charges when plugged in via usb, albiet it's a trickle charge and therefore MUCH slower than if it were plugged into a wall charger.

[Q] Asus tablet doesn't connect to audio dock

Hi all,
Recently I got myself the new Asus MemoPad 7 (ME572C), with the intention of using it as my car media system.
I've bought a microusb to usb & aux cable (sorry, cannot post link to cable) so I can hook up my tablet to my car's stereo while charging it.
The charging is fine but there is no audio coming out of the stereo. The tablet just uses the internal speakers. I've also tried connecting the tablet to an audio/speaker docking station of philips with the same results: charging is fine but no audio from the dock, just the internal speakers.
I've read I should change some accessory options in the settings menu. But there is no such option in my settings. I've checked all options but none mention anything about docking audio.
Anyone has a clue on if and how I can make my tablet connect to my docking station and make my cable work?

Don't understand what kind of cable you are trying to use, could you post a link or picture? The tablet may not support charging and audio out through the same port. Have you tried charging through the usb port on your tablet and connect an AUX cable to the headphone jack on your tablet?

See attachment.
Yes I've tried charging through usb with the 3way cable and connect another aux cable on the headphone jack. This makes it charge and play audio through my extra added aux cable, but is not what I'm looking for. My idea was to use 1 cable for both charging and playing music in my car who doesn't have an usb in the radio, for better looking cable management.
Would this support be hardware of software related? In other words: is there a way I can add this support on my tablet?

MHL + Power Adapter not Charging Device

So I recently got a MHL/OTG adapter off of ebay. The HDMI out and usb ports seem to work no problem. My problem is that when connecting my charging cable to the MHL hub my device isn't getting any power. I have no indications of my battery % going up. That means if I were to stream a movie onto my TV it would work fine but I would run out of battery fast. Does this seem like there's something wrong with the MHL adapter? Is my samsung battery charger not strong enough? Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I have done a bit of research on this and found mixed answers.
Actually... That's normal... An otg adapter puts your device into "power output" mode so it can power a flashdrive or other storage device... So the input/charging mode gets turned off.
Plugging your charger into the hub helps power the external devices so they don't kill your battery so quickly...
No. MHL 3 is meant to charge in parallel. Works on mine. It charges at 700mA only though, pretty slow. You can check the current by Synapse App + Skyhigh Kernel. I think you can configure higher charging rates as well(didn't try). MHL 3 is speced for 2A current.
Yeah... MHL works that way... But the OP says it's also an "OTG hub off ebay" .... So were not just talking about a straight MHL adapter... If it's an OTG hub triggering OTG mode on the tablet... Then it won't charge and it's not suppposed to.

Hi, I also have a MHL/OTG adapter like yours (MHL/OTG/Card Reader) MHL-HDMI works flawless but OTG doesn't.
A USB pendrive that works flawless with an OTG cable it doesn't recognized in the hub while MHL>HDMI it's working.
@xmilar can you please post the link to the MHL/OTG adapter you bought and while yours not charge, are MHL+OTG working simultaniusly?
Thanks!
I've looked into MHL adapters for my Tab S 10.5 and LG G3 but it would require multiple cables and if I replace either or both items and the new item uses a different MHL, I would have to spend more money. I ended up just buying a Chromecast that does the same thing and wirelessly. Best $30 I spent
Hello, I ve bought an MHL adapter, the one with usb connector to charge the tablet when using the mhl, anyway nothing is working. The tablet doesnt charge, and shows 2 times the following : HDMI Connected, then after one second HDMI disconnected, two times. On my Sony phone works with no problems. I have skyhigh kernel and stock rom.
Probably it's not MHL 3?
Sorry for the late reply, if is not MHL 3 why is it working on my Sony Z1 compact with 4.4.4 rooted also.
If the adapter works on a Sony device then its probably based on a standard micro USB connector. According to the wikipedia entry for MHL newer samsung devices use a propriety 11 pin micro USB connector for MHL. There is mention of a "tip" to adapt between 11 pin and 5 pin, perhaps you could buy one of these?

[Q] Wireless charging + USB C audio? (without the official USBC audio adapter)

Hello, I've bought this phone 1 week ago and it works really nice.
Some things I really don't like, like the chinese ROM (which I'm waiting for the unlock to switch to global) and the fact that we don't have the 3.5mm headphone jack.
I know that the phone comes with one adapter, but it might get damaged in the long run (the cable is not sturdy enough). I tried an USB 2.0 sound card connected to the phone using a USB C to USB 3.0 OTG adapter, but by doing that, the wireless charging stops.
In fact, anything that I plug in the OTG cable will stop the wireless charging.
So, I want to know if those cheap USB C audio sound cards will behave like the official USB C adapter, or they will stop the wireless charger.
Also, are those USB C passtrhu cables with a sound card working in this phone? Because with that, I could plug a wall charger and also get the headphones.
BTW, I know I could use BT, but thats not my idea.
Any feedback will be appreciated,
Thanks!
I think those audio jack/usb c cables should work.
The phone probably stops the wireless charging because the phone cant supply and get charged at the same time.
By using those cables you use the data pins for audio and the power pins for charging so it should work.
If you want to test this theory out use the original usb dongle and put it on the wireless charger.
The official headphone adapter is analog without a dac so it is not a usb device as such. It must use a dac already in the phone. Wireless charging works fine with it. I can confirm the plugging in a usb card reader stops wireless charging though.
