Google Search Widget - Broken [FIXED]

Hey everyone. I looked for this before posting, many times. I wanted to post it for like 2 months but forgot...
Has anyone noticed the Google Search Widget that comes with the GB ROMs we getting that doesn't work? I have tried putting the Quick Search Box apk from other ROMs and downloaded G Search from G Play but it's no good, these only put another widget but one that actually works. Any ideas on how to make it work or take it off? Thanks!

Mine is working fine. After you unistalled then reinstalled through play it still didin't work? Is that correct? Have you tried going to manage apps > all > google search > clear data? Let me know if I got the question your asking right.

I have had this happen several times to me and the only solution I have been able to come up with is to either factory reset or re install rom. I am not entirely sure what causes this.
I sell cell phones for a living and I see it happen on many different devices by different makers as well. It is not something that is exclusive to your device but I am not entirely sure of the root of the problem. If anyone has any insight that would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have not had any rom ever for our phone that the google search widget did not work after re install rom or wipe.

I had never noticed as I always download and use the one from play store (like the look better). But I just tried the one that came with unnamed ROM and it didn't work. Well it works with voice control, but if I tap to start typing nothing happens.

OK. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Recent ROMs doesn't come with Google Search App but still there is a Search Widget included that doesn't work even when installing Search app from Play. When done that, it adds a working widget, black and white themed. I have attached a screenshot of the widget that doesn't work.
Also, if you want my wallpaper, I have attached it too.

The search that comes with them GB roms don't work you are correct so far after looking nd looking its a ghost. I know this isn't the answer you want but don't use it its not a big deal.... but as soon as I find it nd remove it successfully I will point you in the right direction.

Te adjunto el apk de G search v.1.3.3 mas los screenshots de el desde el Widget. Lo removi via TB, luego le hice el push via Root Explorer y le di make system app en TB. Le hice reboot y fix permissions, con Wipe dalvik cache, espere como 10 minutos en lo q lodeaba todo el OS. Lo añadi a mi homescreen y esta funcionando. Espero haberte ayudado en algo.

Attached the Apk for G Search v 1.3.3 and the screenshots taken with the proper widget. I uninstalled it via TB and then I pushed it thru Root Explorer. Then make it a system app from TB. Rebooted it, Wiped Dalvik Cache and fix permissions within CWM. Waited 10 min for the OS to load. Then added the widget to the homescreen and worked like a charm. Hope it helped.

I know that widget works. Look into the widget list to add, there should be one that says just "Search", that's the one that doesn't work. I think I'm not explaining correctly.

I looked into the widgets list, and you were right about the one that just says Search. However I added it to my homescreen and its working though. I'm trying to trace it down to see which apk is. If you know which one is let me know so I can attach it.

I don't know the apk. I thought some dev or themer could help with this. Maybe its some kind of feature like DriveSmart section from Settings. I will try to get some more people into this thread amd hopefully something gets done.

I am pretty sure that widget is available and working in Raver's Unnamed ROM. I am not sure about VB haven't used that for a while. I don't know if erikmm has it in his ROMs. The apk is QuickSearchBox.apk. BTW, you don't need to install Google Search from Play Store. It works without installing Google Search. Also, I think some launchers don't support the QuickSearchBox.apk.

Works how? Flash ROM, add widget and it works? Believe me, I have tried it on some ROM and it doesn't. You sure of the widget I'm talking about? Thanks for the reply.

If you are referring to - long pressing home screen, selecting widget and adding Search - then yes it works on VB.

OK then maybe some ROMs have it, others don't. At least in FBs it doesn't.
The apk by @geekilized made it work. Although, now I want for someone who will take the widget option out when uninstalling apk. Just like erikmm did by removing DriveSmart from Setting with w/e tweaks he did. Could this be possible?
I'm just trying to have a "almost-perfect ROM" so I can flash it to others without having to give them constant support. Kind of what FB is doing sharing his ROM, well I would like to have a ROM for my none so hackers friends and the most stable for me so far is his. Although, I'm just adding/removing apk. I'm no way near developing. But that is clear. Maybe in summer I will begin to read and learn to code.

Do you mean that you wanna backup some apps and don't want to be asked to remove those apps every time?

Yes to exclude all my backups. Maybe choose excluded folders. E.g.....app manager.
Only being fussy .am happy as it is.

I used some open source code for Fragments and some ListViews, you can update the app its fixed now. Thank you for your feedback

I'm actually using Flamingo. Great GUI but only 2000 Tweets in Timeline.
Important things for me:
* AutoSync with cached Timeline (5 days, ~10.000 Tweets)
* Preview of WebPages when linked in Tweet
* Saving of Pics and Videos

Also, is there a way to turn off the new tweets toast? I find it a bit irritating.

Thank you! The app purchases are linked to your google account, so you can still use it without having to pay again. The new tweets toast can be disabled from the menu, the 3 dots -> settings -> Ui settings -> scroll all the way down and disable Use "To First" Toast

This by far best launcher for z fold 2 if u want pixel launcher and scalable rows/columns. I included some pictures of launcher, check it out if you on z fold and miss pixel.

No problem man. The developer for this App is awesome guy. I had some recommendations for app and z fold such as scaling lower incremental percentage and he's already adding into app. He's also looking into android r/11 launcher3 so may make fold experience better soon too.

How did you install Nexa icons package? I can't find a way to install it within the system settings. Please let me know. :crying:
I want to install the icons without a third-party launcher. Is this even possible? I did this in the past with my Oneplus phone.

If you have images of the icons you can use the app Awesome Icons to change them. I changed a lot of them without any launcher.

Does this support a different configuration for cover and main screen?

It is possible in the next update to make these 3 additions:
1) To be able to edit / delete app categories.
2) On the At Glance Widget, in addition to the date, you can also view the time and maybe even the next alarm.
3) To be able to set the app drawer horizontally to be able to move in the app pages from left to right and vice versa as well as from top to bottom.
