Tempered Glass protectors? - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

Any recommendations?
Looking to grab a glass protector from aliexpress but since the phone is relatively new, not sure of anyone's experience there. Previously got one for my S4 there and it was perfect.
Please report/merge if a similar thread already exists! TIA!

I first tried ZAGG glass but then I ended up using Galaxy S5 Screen Protector GLAS.tR SLIM Privacy. Both were pretty impressive to me. ZAGG has lifetime warranty for spigen I think you only get 90 days both cost the same $39.99 and ZAGG Glass is $34.99 on the website

Yep, aware of the bigger and more common brands. They are also usually more than 5 times the price of an equivalent one from China though!
Wondering if anyone had experience with the glass protectors from the Asian market?
I have used iLoome and Spigen products before and they do not impress me for the price I pay relative to alternatives at that point in time.

Well there's a saying you get what you pay for...pay for something cheap its obviously going to be cheap...if you pay for something that's pricey then most of the time the quality is great but here's some links hopefully it helps!

i have different view on this matter. i'd recommend you to use asian brands because they are economical, yet good quality.
i'm using niilkin tempered glass, it's korean brand, it cost me just 14$ but i'm so satisfied with it, it fits perfectly with s5, finger-print resistance, real glass and super responsive. it's what you see is what you get.
hope it helps you

I ordered this one from DX :

When it arrives I can answer the question.
But it will take at least one more week I guess.

Great glass
I am using the Lunnitt 9H (purchased from Amazon), love it and can't say a thing bad about the protector.

Thanks for the suggestion all!
And if you really think that protector you get for paying the overpriced $30+ is any better than the $5 one... The marketing got you good...

I use baseus, got it for about 15$.
I have it for about a month and a half now and it's still fingerprint resistant, very easy to clean, no scratches, and it's glass so it feels good to touch, i can't stand the plastic films.
I don't intend on finding out about shatter resistance though :laugh:

Got the tech armor one, pretty good and very easy to put on, it was for $15 at amazon

got the glass m
http://theglass-m.com/collections/a...-glass-screen-protector-for-samsung-galaxy-s5
0.2MM thick and feels like the original glass

I got the Hero Glass from Amazon. $15 Awesome! Sorry, can't post a link yet.

Anybody pop off Otterbox defender screen protector and use a glass one? Ive been thinking of trying it but not sure if it will fit. I hate the defender case protector and love the clarity of the glass ones.

Using m-glass. On all devices. Very nice and shipping to Russia cheap. Feel like no protector.

Any good Ebay Screen Protectors?

So ever since i got my one X i've been on a quest for a good screen protector. i started with cheapo ebay ones that were 6 for $2 but the edges lifted because it was a full screen protector and the quality wasnt great(they would scratch easily). I just recently bought the SGP screen protectors thinking because they were cut smaller i wouldnt have the issue of it lifting at the edges, but i still do. The quality of the SGP is good, it is not as fingerprint resistant as i had hoped but i still have the issue of it lifting. My gf has the Zagg HD on her phone which looks pretty good, does still have a bit of orange peel effect to it but otherwise covers a lot of the phone and does not lift at all because it is a wet application screen protector. I may have to buy one if i end up exhausting all other options, but till then i was wondering if anyone has found a screen protector they like on ebay before i pony up $30 for the Zagg HD at best buy
ZAGG HD, just do it
i wish i had bought a couple of those skinomis when they were .99 . i plan to use a case but from what ive seen the protector could work fine with a case

Those were apparently a bad batch and they wouldn't fully dry or something.
I just got an AT&T branded one from the AT&T store (I got 3 of them for $12) and they applied it for me.
I must say it is very nice. It doesnt have the lifting at the edges because it doesn't go all the way to the edge, it just goes to the extent of the flat part of the screen.
Its clarity is nice and it has a good matte finish.
I picked up the full front and back Zagg yesterday had AT&T throw it on mine yesterday. They put it on for free and I'm liking it.

the original or the HD? the original zagg is pretty awful in terms of orange peel and how your finger sticks to it. rohan when you say matte do you mean the antiglare? how does the screen protector do with scratches, some scratch more easily than others and become pointless because youre looking at a screen covered in scratches

I've only had it on for a day so I can't really tell you much about its durability, sorry.
And yeah I mean antiglare.
I said this in another thread about the Zagg HD.... The HD is FAR better than the regular Zagg in that there is ZERO orange-peel effect and it doesn't go all the way to the edge of the display so a case of any type won't pull up the edges at all. I've always used Zagg shields and because I used to work for Best Buy mobile I have become rather adept at installing them. The Zagg HD also gives you that 'glass' feel as well. It's almost like having nothing on your display at all.
Sent from my HTC One X
it does have some orange peel effect, nowhere near as much as the original but lets be real, its a sham. there should be no zagg hd, this is just an improved product over their original, unfortunately this is how businesses propose they make money. Make a better product and charge a premium for it. if it weren't $30 I would have had one the day it came out. i'd pay the original $15 zagg price but double that is just ludicrous LUDA!!!

Thanks! watched a couple of reviews on ebay, doesn't look like theres any orange peel in the videos. ordered 2 front for my one x and a front and back for my future galaxy S3
I always buy the cheaper ones from eBay that don't have the 'water' application method. Tried that once, never again. Bad results.
I go for the Hong Kong ones, or USA resellers of them since they are cheap and work great for a couple years or more. I use disposable gloves in a humid bathroom to apply so as not to get much fingerprints/dust. Works great most of the time.
I also get the soft silicon cases from ebay which usually wrap around the front enough to cover the edges of the protector so I haven't noticed any edge peeling so far on the screen protector.

[POLL] What's the best kind of screen protector and case?

I've bee reading some of the other forums on here, and I am having a hard time choosing what screen protector and case to use (which is a good thing, I guess). I am trying to decide between Zagg, Ghost Armor, and the Spigen Glas.t (do I get the SLIM or tR). Which one of these is best? Do they all protect the phone from scratches and drops about the same?
As far as cases go, whats the best case? I've been looking at the Otterbox Commuter and was dead set on getting it until I saw the Spigen Neo Hybrid case. Will they both protect the phone from slight drops? If you have the Spigen, are the sides raised over the edges of the screen and the camera, as to protect it?
I tried Ghost Armor. was not happy with it. Sure it protected nicely and it is nearly indestructible but I found it tended to embed bits of dust that would not come out no matter what I did to clean it.
Today I have a cheap matte protector that cost me about $5 IS on Amazon. Also picked up a TPU case and a hard case.
I always preferred a generic TPU case for my devices... adds very little bulk, makes them easier to grip (less slippage), and better protection than naked...
I am not a fan of those huge, multi-layered monster cases.
Zagg + Otterbox (Commuter) for me. I picked the Zagg because that's the only screen protector Best Buy had and I had to get one right when I got my phone so I can always claim it's had one on for 100% of it's life. Maybe an OCD thing, I don't know.
And right now, Otterbox is the only brand I trust. My Galaxy Nexus was in a Diztronic and cracked from a ~2 foot drop onto concrete. That's probably reasonable, and definitely falls under the category of user error, but it would not have broken with an Otterbox. That's a fact.

For $30 they should be pretty amazing... I can't see myself dropping more than $10 shipped on a case.
I've got a neo hybrid case and ghost armor screen protector. I had GA on my S3. I like the feel of the GA protector, the professional install, and the fact that it has the lifetime warranty. If it even LOOKS like its peeling, I run to the mall and get it replaced.
This is my first Spigen product and I have gotten more compliments on this one than I have on any other case.

I bought a spigen for my Xperia z and it didn't let the proximity sensor work right. You'd get off a call and the screen wouldn't turn back on. Tried to take it off and it cracked. It was pretty thick, not sure if that was the reason but I'll steer clear of one till I know for sure. Especially with the hover features of this phone.

How's the included screen protector that came with your Ringke Slim? I put mines aside cuz I'm also waiting for a good glass, but debating if I should just slap the free one on.. Do you notice any glare when using your phone outdoor? And how does the edges look with your screen protector on?
It's a perfect cut. To tell you the truth, I'm a little shocked how good it is considering that it was free with the case. The cuts get as close as possible without going into the bended glass portion so no lift issue. This also means you have to get alignment right during install.
As far as glare, didn't notice any. I put it on because I didn't want to rush into buying an unproven glass protector.

The website description says it is designed for use without a case, but I guess it really all depends on how thick it is. Curious to hear feedback on this one...
I'm sure this one is thicker than Skinomi and other skin protectors. The Skinomi is liquid application whereas the the Otterbox is not, you just use the bare hands.

whitestone worth the premium?

I'm looking around for a tempered glass with decent touch responsiveness. do we know much about how well WSD will protect the screen vs other protectors? it costs quite a pretty penny. i was wondering if any of you had experience with cheaper ones that'll offer the same level of protection? this one (https://www.amazon.com/LK-Protector...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YX5Y8Z1JQ3BMGQX5XTF8) is quite highly rated at amazon and has a fakespot rating of A. anyone tried it out?

The link you provided is a product that only has adhesive on the sides, don't waste your time there will be an air gap and the screen responsiveness will be garbage. Like you said those reviews are fake and you would be wasting your time and money if purchased. Yes the WhiteStone dome is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I have had mine installed since Launch and not a single issue, it looks and feels like there isn't even a screen protector installed. For a product that could potentially save your phone from breaking, why skimp out? Would you buy cheaper tires on your car that are much more likely to fail? No.
I do believe that the Whitestone is worth the price.
I have been using tempered glass screen protectors for a few years now and the Whitestone is much easier to install, bacause of the jig that comes with it.
I have installed the Whitestone on two Note 9s. One for the wife and mine.
The only issue I have is a minor one. It seems a bit of excess glue is around the edges and atractslint from my pocket.
The coverage and feel is awesome.
Once you buy the full kit that includes the UV light, only the replacement kit is needed for any other install or phone. The replacement kit comes with the jig, but not the UV light.
I refrained from purchasing a phon ewith a curved screen until this type of screen protector was available. I refused to deal with the ege only attached protectors.
It is a bit pricey, but I highly recommend it. After all, you are protecting a thousand dollar phone. Twice what I've ever paid for a phone.
My experience with the whitestone: It is ok if you dont mind the sharp edges when you swipe from the sides. In my case, air bubbles started to appear at the right edge. Whitestone sent me one replacement which I am trying to sell, because I don't see it working in my case.
Pros:
Clear;
Sensitive;
Warranty (although you have to pay for shipping);
Cons:
Sharp edges;
Air bubbles appear at the edges after some time, 2 months in my case;
The adhesive left exposed at the sides attracts dust/lint;

The glue is attached to the glass, not your phone. Once you begin peeling the screen protector off you will notice the glue is only on the screen protector and your phone is left clean.

I was really hesitant on spending $40 on a 2 pack of tempered glass. But after biting the bullet i couldn't be happier with the glass. It fits and feels great. Doesnt disrupt the touch sensitivity and keeps the premium feel of the phone. I hated that the cheap ones that only have adhesive on the sides and dot matrix on screen made the phone feel super cheap because it felt like you were touching a plastic screen.

be careful, however, if the phone falls and hits the glass film, it does not protect the display and breaks, it happened to me on note 8.
In other words, it protects only from the graff.

No tempered glass is going to protect your screen from cracking. It helps but doesn't prevent it if the hit/drop is right.
Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
If you want a tempered glass screen protector then the only option that works well (IMO) is the Whitestone Dome. The issue is (and I've tried many times) with Whitestone Dome is that the sides of your screen protector may get tiny bubbles even after you think the install was perfect. Mine showed up after a day and spread to the enter left and right side of the protector.
