I don't know - I don't have a SGP521 to test.
You can always try - don't flash, just boot it via fastboot.

will this work with sgp512 (16gb wifi)?

Has anyone tried this with the SGP521

Use the updated one found in this forum in the thread with the two other recoveries. That works with all versions I believe.

I am no longer working on the Z2 Tablet since I got a Nexus 9.
Here's a test img - please test & let me know if it boots. Can't test it now because I'm at work:

You can always use the 2.8.5.0 from rcstar's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...wrp-cwm-philz-recovery-collection-z2-t3052676

Yes fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
But TWRP can flash recovery.img itself. Switch to IMG instead of ZIP in the Install menu.

What is your bootloader version? It should be HHZ12h if you are running Android 5.1.1. It can create issues if you still have an old one.

Have you installed it by fastboot method?
Do you have a Verizon version or what exactly?
Do you have unlocked your bootloader?

Ok, some more questions...
- Have you unlocked the bootloader?
- Are you starting TWRP in R/W mode? (Yeah... stupid question BUT I've to do it... :fingers-crossed: )
- What SuperSU zip version are you trying to flash exactly?
- Have you tried to root with Magisk instead?
EDIT: Magisk seems not to be compatible with Motorolas...

So i finally manage to have root access
_ Of course my bootloader is unlock
_ Unable to start twrp in R/W mode because unable to format data encryption at the first boot.
_ So I've flash "Disable stock kernel'sforce encrypt" from JackyGreen and after that - flash SU via twrp and now it work.
IS it stock kernel which cause error flashing Su via twrp ?????
By the way thank you very much for your link to twrp recovery !!!!
