Reverse swipe fingerprint scanner works - Verizon Galaxy S 5 General

I just found out that I can unlock my device by swiping from the bottom upwards and it is much recognizable by the scanner. I don't know if it is a dumb idea but I just would like to share.

Did you set it up to read from top to bottom, not bottom to top?

How? mine says to follow the picture and will not let me register or unlock by swiping from the bottom upwards.

I registered my thumb like the screen showed, after seeing this I tried backwards and it works. So I tried sideways it worked, and sideways in reverse works, go figure!

Set it up normally, top to bottom. I just find it out by accident that you can unlock it the reverse way. Also register your thumb by using the inter-phalangeal joint of your thumb. That makes swiping to unlock easier and less error prone. I wish I could embed video here so I can show you guys

Correct! As long the sensor recognize the pattern of your print it doesn't matter which way you swipe.

Or better yet, add the instructions to the OP so it's right there for anyone looking for how to do it.

I know on my old Galaxy S you could use do it using the volume keys. Up once, down twice, up three times, down 4 times and then a Skip button appears. Don't know if it would work on a S3 or not.
worked here, verizon galaxy s3

How to get SNote to stop zooming when palm hits the screen

Is there a way to get SNote to stop zooming in when your Palm hits the screen? I tried the disable hands thing at the bottom right, but it turns out SNote still detects two fingers and palms.

I'd like to know as well, and I have the same problem in Sketchbook Pro.
I've also got the same problem in sketchbook pro. It's be great if you could just disable finger input entirely when the spen is out, and soon by tapping plus or minus or something.

Bump...this is an overlooked flaw in the UI design. XDA to the rescue! Its a bummer when your writing and all of a sudden...you are zoomed in at 200%. Someone help us...also the settings tab on the status bar is frequently activated when I'm writing. I think that when the pad is in S-note or any other writing mode for that matter any non-pen input should be ignored... until switched off or reboot.

It's annoying me so much that I'm likely going to return the tablet tomorrow. I'm still within my 14 days. When I right on a notepad or notebook, my palm definitely sits on the page. I end up zooming in/out or hitting the *system tray (clock / settings etc).
I love the multipoint screen but there's got to be a way to turn it off.
GMD Spen also requires root. I don't want to root my device until it's out of warranty!

Touch input should be disabled when your spen is within the air-view distance from the screen. Just make sure your pen is close to the screen before you put your palm down and do not lift it too far off while you write.
Really wish for a control to turn off pinch zoom in S Note on my Samsung Note Pro!!

[falsified] See Your Pulse on Lockscreen

Ok, so I do not know if anyone have noticed this already, but you might find this interesting.
When you pass your finger over the Lockscreen without actually touching it the phone draws a ripple effect along the path of your finger,
Here's what I found; if you hold your finger steady close enough over the screen without touching all the way, you can see your pulse!!
The way I see it is, unlike the s4's lockscreen where you have a dot following you while you hover, the note's lockscreen draws a circular ripple below your finger that changes in area as you get closer. So, if you don't change the distance between your finger and the screen, the only thing that is changing the capacitance between your finger and the screen is actually your own pulse fluctuating the electrostatic energy in your finger.
If you've read so far I hope I haven't wasted your time. I just wanted to share
Was skeptical but yep seems to work not sure my pulse is that fast though
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 4
Can a app be built arround this ? It's pretty cool
It's NOT your pulse. It's just an effect.
Try hovering your S Pen over the screen = same thing.

I guess everyone knows, but if not this one works.

4.4.2: Spen icon in the notification bar

Hi, I was able to remove that silly spen icon in the notification bar in 4.3 by using quick shortcut maker and finding the page or site buddy. After upgrading to 4.4.2 that icon returned. Furthermore the page buddy crashes at once it is called.
How can I get rid of this silly spen icon in 4.4.2? Any ideas?
Sent from my Note 3
Just put some electrical tape over the top corner of the screen so you can't see it.

SPen icon is there to remind you that you have detach your SPen from the phone. It is easy to get distracted in busy world, and that litle thing is there for that one specific helpful reason.

Do a factory reset if page buddy keeps crashing - OR remove it via Titanium backup and have someone give you the files and push them into the system (this might not work though)

The Wacom digitizer uses battery. I want my indicator in case I set the pen down and continued using my phone. The pen insertion/removal sensor is more about activating/deactivating the Wacom digitizer than it is about warning keeping track of your pen and the symbol helps too.

You're working on the misconception that the Wacom digitizer is switched on/off depending on whether or not the sPen is inserted.
It isn't. Try using a different Wacom pen on your screen with the Note's pen still inserted. You will find it still works fine.

Fingerprint Scanner Tips

I found some info on another site that helps with the fingerprint sensor:
It seems like the key is to press relatively hard when swiping your finger. I've tried that a number of times now, and it seems to be working much better. I'm even able to get one handed unlock with the fingerprint sensor.
Hope this helps.
Sideways thumb swipe: rotate thumb to maximize print area while swiping during record and read.
Works fine.

What I did was use the 3 allotted different fingerprints and scan my thumb at slightly different angles so I could swipe my thumb horizontally rather than vertically and it works a lot better now.
I feel clever ...unless this was already mentioned

So I was playing around with the fingerprint scanner and wanted to add more then 3 fingerprints. When I was setting up my thumb, I also swiped my pointer finger. After the set up was complete. I found it let me unlock the phone with both fingers from the one setup. I haven't seen this mentioned yet, so I figured someone out there might find it useful.
