It depends on your ROM dude.
For instance I'm on ARHD 6.5.0 and my bootanimation.zip is in data/local
downanimation.zip is in system/customize/resource
Rw-r--r-- are the correct permissions and change owner to root. All of this can be done thru root explorer.

On InsertCoin ROMs, boot & downanimation are in system/customize/resource
1. Download animations
2. Rename it to bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip
3. Copy animations in system/customize/resource
4. On root explorer change owner to root
5. Change permissions of animations to rw- r-- r--

No. It's just the boot animation.

One other thing...
On the Ville RUU based 1.47 roms the bootanimation is actually called hTC_bootup_one.zip

maybe you can take the original audio of the bootanimation in sense 4.0..
it's the same of the normal sound (andoid_audio in folder customized) of HTC or it's different

I know how to change with adb as root, but without root... so i thought I ask how to use (maybe unknown possibility to change , but obviously no such possibility..)

look on modaco's site, as he has established root already on these phones. With root it's easy, just replace the bootanimation.zip file with the new one and you're good to go!

Is there an alternative method for S-OFF known for the One S besides the HTC-Method (using htc-dev.com)? I would like to avoid letting HTC know about unlocking my phone and loosing any kind of warranty...

[BOOT ANIMATION] Rogers=Rooted Bootanimation and Downanimation

Hey guys,
Now that custom roms are running rampant, here are the bootanimation files i promised you.
bootanimation.zip - custom boot animation (white background, red Rooted text)
downanimation.zip - custom down animation (red background, white Rooted text)
Rogers_bootanimationORIG.zip - stock boot animation file (white background, red Rogers text, HTC One X splash screen)
Rogers_downanimationORIG.zip - stock down animation file (red background, white Rogers text)
HOW TO INSTALL
-Once you have a custom rom, copy the bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip files from this thread to your sdcard
-Using Root Explorer or any other Root file browser (or adb, but i guess you wouldnt need to read this...), traverse to the /system/media OR /system/customize/resource folder (depending on your ROM; more than likely the first)
-rename the current bootanimation.zip and/or downanimation.zip files if you wish to keep it/them as a backup. (i usually change the extension to [filename].zip.bak)
-Copy the new boot/downanimations.zip from the SD card to the bootanimation directory
-Reboot the phone to test ​
-I've also attached the Rogers stock sense bootanimation/downanimation files. Tell me if i need to remove them.

I read these 2 links and i still can't make a bootanimation, but i can make a downanimation. well thats weird....

i changed one file in the Rogers folder from the stock bootanimation.zip and it wont work. i tried renaming the downanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip and it wont work. that's not right! permissions are all in check too..

EDIT: Figured it out, you have to unzip whatever bootanimation file you want to use and rename the folder inside to ATT and edit the desc file to reflect this change then rezip and install on phone. I'm not sure what the Rogers files are called but anyone wanting to add there own custom music to the bootanimation can!!! thanks again

TBH I think that the stock ROMs the carriers made have a file somewhere that looks only 4 a specific boot animation. Usually bootanimations are in system\media. I was confused why it was in resource. And yes I did try both.

Yes, I know HTC and beats have split, but it still looks cool.

The M8 doesnt have beats...might not be to interesting to most to have a beats logo on a phone without beats. Looks good though

Thanks for these! Personally, I really like them, but I can't get them to work on my device. I have an O2 branded handset, with the bubbly water with the O2 logo for boot&down animation. I have unlocked bootloader, flashed custom recovery and flashed ARHD 2.2 Rom. I tried installing the flashable .zip files with recovery. Nothing. I've tried manually replacing the files with Root Browser, and I was able to get the Beats downanimation to work, but on boot, the phone just detects that they're not the O2 animations and replaces them. I even tried renaming the Beats animation .zips to the same as the O2 files and replacing but they just won't go away!!
Any thoughts?

Got, apparently the animations are named hTC_bootup_one.zip and hTC_downanimation.zip
copy files to /sdcard/
boot to twrp
open cmd
adb shell
mount /system
cp -p /sdcard/hTC_bootup_one.zip /system/customize/resource/
cp -p /sdcard/hTC_downanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/
now in twrp advanced , file manager, navigate to /system/customize/resource/
select each animation file and chmod 777
reboot and profit.

I'll take the beats out, but make that a fresh upload and keep the beats one for people who want beats in it. I'll make new flashible zips as well.
I think it looks swagalicious with the beats logo, but obviously HTC sold their stake. I liked beats audio on my One S, it was a nice volume booster. It had no other real purpose.

Or download a rom with beats in it, which some do well maybe not M8 sense 6 yet but M7 sense 6 does. Maybe the beats can be ported over.

Bootanimation is for when the phone boots up, downanimation is for when the phone shuts down.

On my m7 (ARHD 84.0) neither boot/down work, neither flashing their into TWRP or replacing the .zip file with Root Browser.
how can I fix it?

I found this bootanimation for the M7:

I didn't find that one for our device, so I modified the one from the above thread to match the M8 specs. I attach it to this post.
Just use any root explorer to copy it to your ROMs bootanimation location and dont forget to set permissions!
It might be necessary to rename it, just name it like your ROMs current bootanimation.
Robot sequence is looping until booted.

The bootanimation location can be different, depends on the ROM. Just use any root explorer to copy it to your ROMs bootanimation location and set the permissions. I use InsertCoin, the location is /system/customize/resource. Permissions are rw-r--r-- (644).

i was able to make it but for some reason at the end of animation before it loops back a white screen flashes real quick... i dont know why but if someone else know why please let me know but anyways download here
