Verizon GS5 camera hardware failure and free replacement - Verizon Galaxy S 5 General

http://mobile.theverge.com/2014/4/25/5653192/samsung-confirms-fatal-galaxy-s5-camera-problem
I haven't seen this topic on here yet. Nothing major and probably first batch component problem I guess. Factory reset doesn't help and it has to go through unit replacement.

Important Tests To Perform After Purchasing Sensation (UPDATED)

Since there are individual threads going on regarding diff. issues that some Sensations suffer from, i thought i would start this thread to have all these issues in one place. And more importantly, we can suggest some tests that could be performed right out of the box to figure out whether or not the device should be sent for replacement.
I'll keep the first post updated based on your recommendations in this thread.
-The first thing i can think of is the issue with the device being loose in its back cover, which is something that should be kept in mind and also can be easily tested
-Then comes the problem of "separate" layers under the screen which is accompanied by a sound resembling "a sticker being peeled of a surface".
Touchscreen not working properly.
Except you can't test for that when you first get it because it takes a few days to appear.

FWIW, I had that issue but once I installed ADW launcher it hasn't happened again...it's been two days now. It's probably just a coincidence, but never the less figured I'd pass it on.
Is the second issue on the OP is relevant to this video?

I couldn't see any thing wrong on that video though.

Screen is shacking! Help!

I just woke up and my screen started shacking , everything is moving up and down randomly by 0.3 mm ( like in movies when a computer gets attacked by an alien virus )
It seems it happens more often when I touch the screen , but its also shacking on its own just les often.
I have 32 GB Nexus 5 everything is stock
Seems like a hardware failure(screen) to me... Try rebooting?? Post a pic if you can...

You can add dots/spaces between the url of the image to post!
something like : h t tp s: // www example. com/nexus5 .jpg
Rippling/shaking effect on screen means a hardware failure... However, just to be sure, we would like to look at it...
Last resort might be to factory reset it.. but I doubt if it's going to help.

This happens only in Google Now or everywhere? If yes, then it looks like a screen failure. RMA it asap.
However, I would suggest a factory reset first and see to confirm it.

Since your fully stock, there's no question of uninstalling Xposed framework or anything of that sort.
Backup your data and factory reset it. If that doesn't help, then it's obviously a hardware fault and the only thing you can do is send it to Google/LG! Good luck :good:

I had the same issue a few times. Music stops, and if I click pause and play again, it just plays for a milisecond, and then silence again. I wanted to write here about that issue, but it happened 3-4 times in two months. Closing and opening the app which was playing sound solves the problem for me.
I've flashed a newer stock rom in odin, but the bug was still present. But that's definitely a software bug, samsung should know about it.

Try installing south east europe rom, XXU1BPH1 version, it didn't happen to me since that (august) update
Or if u are tired of flashing, send it to samsung, very stupid flaw, I agree!

I have the XXU1BPH1. The phone install september security update but nothing new. I believe the solution is send for rma but i think its a hard problem to solved. Samsung guys reset phone and test two minutes and its ok. Maybe with nougat problem its solved but the update come far away.
Did anyone find a solution for this problem, or contacted Samsung? It's very annoying, and it started happening to me very often.

I can't believe it. I mean, that's a major bug if U ask me. I've heard that many people have the same issue. I'll contact samsung about it, maybe the nougat update fill fix it, but who knows when that will come.

It didn't happen to me for a month or more after a reset. So I guess it would be good to wait some time
But keep us updated here, if it's really whatsapp that's causing problems, at least we know who to blame!

Repeating characters whenn typing

Has anyone else had an issue where characters are repeated when typing (like in the title)? Had the phone for a week now and I'm really impressed but this little issue is ddriving me nuts. I thought it was an issue with SwiftKey but swapping for the built in Gboard hasn't resolved the issue. I'm running the current firmware release C432. Happens with sspacees too...So odd?.

Same problem here.
This happened to me once or twice. I noticed that it happened when I accidentally swiped over the keyboard instead of typed a letter. Maybe the same happened to you.
Thanks for your responses. I've noticed that it got worse the more quickly I typed. I did a power cycle (AKA Magic Reboot) shortly after I made the post and it doesn't seem too bad now (typing this on a laptop). Doesn't look like it is "an issue" as such as its only a couple of people reporting it here. Hard to tell as it has not been available long so the user-base will be fairly small.

There was another thread where a few of us were discussing... The 130 update definitely reduced touch sensitivity so there are missed touch points when typing and also repeating letters when typing fast.. The 100 firmware was fine.. I did send them a message on HiCare and they said they'd pass it over to the dev team.. Hopefully the next update fixes it..

That's interesting... I'll try contacting them using that method. Was it the Live Chat facility? It has been doing it all through this message but I've been spell checking as i go. Only served to remind me how annoying this issue is. Bar that. I love this phone?.

I tried the Live Chat facility and they suggested clearing the Cache Partition. I did that and still get the issue (typing this on laptop). He said that it was the first case he had heard of this happening (funny how they always say that...). I might try the live chat again to see what can be done. I mentioned about the lack of feedback/bug report and he said he would "pass it on" so not much use really.

It seems puzzling that if it were a software issue, then everyone running the 130(C432) release would we mentioning it on this forum. As it seems a little quiet with regards to that, this make me think its a hardware issue affecting a limited number of handsets.
I'm hoping that the next update (overdue for Feb and now due for March update) may fix it. If not, I'll be sending it off for repair with John Lewis in the UK where I bought it from.

Fellas, the bug is also known as "double tapping" and it software related only. Few years ago Huawei P8 Lite had it and after a several updates it was fixed.

I finally did the factory reset as suggested by support a while back and strangely (had no hope that it would fix it), the issue has (so far) not returned .
I'm wondering if the issue occured as a result of the the January 130 update which started to install as soon as I connected the phone to the WiFi when I first set up the handset. Anyone else who are having the issue after the update but have not done a factory reset, I recommend that they try it. If you have done the reset, do you still get the issue?
Hopefully the 140 update (due any day?) will now sort out the dropping bluetooth whilst streaming music.

My factory reset seemed to resolve the issue but it came back shortly afterwards but not as bad as it was previously. That or I've become more accustomed to it. EIther way, it is still here. I take it you are not on the C432 (UK?) variant like mine? No sign of the 140 update for me yet which seems to resolve it for some users suffering the same issue.

microphone not working.

My microphone works in applications such as Snapchat but will not work during phone calls at all. I even had a Google worker troubleshoot my phone with screenshare and went through all my settings and reset everything. I don't know what to try anymore.

Could be the mic hardware issue that the early production phones were facing. I could be wrong though. Could go to settings>system>about phone>status>serial number. Give is the 5 first characters. Mine is FA77M. I could read from this that it's produced in taiwan on the 21st-07-2017. So to understand when yours is produced just give me the 5 first characters and nothing after that. If it's a device from later production then we could try some stuff to troubleshoot it further more.

Your device is built in Taiwan Taoyuan B factory, 2016-December-16th.
Unfortunately the devices manufactured before 2017 is said to have hardware defects and it's hard to day when the defect would hit the device but this issue is common among the devices produced in 2016. So my guess is that it's a hardware defect at this point I'm sorry.

What you could try is to enroll into the Android P beta and see if it makes any change. Some people claim that they have their mic issues fixed or at least become better by updating to Android P. Worth a shot I would think. Then again no guarantee. Could be a temporary fix and the problem might occur again.
