[RECOVERY] Official Release of TWRP recovery now available - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Original Android Development

Sweet!
Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Anyone test it out and if so, findings?!

Will be trying this when I get home later in a couple hours..

I tried both versions on my g900p and everything works except for writing to the external sdcard. Backups and restores are fine on the internal memory.
Update: Write problem is limited to external SD cards that are formatted in exFAT format. FAT32 formatted cards work fine.
Send from my Sprint SM-G900P

I was able to install the recovery via the dd method without any issues. Havnt tested any features but it does boot into recovery normal and without issues.

I flash the odin version. I was able to make a back up on the internal space. However I got an error when I tried to flash it to the the the external SD card. It said not able to create back up folder.

There was an issue with writing to an exFAT formatted sd card but a new version was released yesterday that fixes that issue.

Anybody else getting errors trying to connect via adb while in recovery?
Is there a repo for this build I can branch to fix things like adb on our SM-G900P?

I made a patched version with adb working here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734322

Why does Goomanager say there is on open recovery install but the twrp site says it's the preferred method. Confused??? Haha

Yeah that write up description is from years ago. Goo Manager usually is the preferred method of installing it , and probably the easiest. They just still haven't paced it on three severs yet. I'll make a flashable later today. But if your still using the Stock Recovery, or the moment you will have to flash it Via Odin, or download the "img" from there site, then DL "Flashifly" from the PlayStore and your can install it thru that as well

2.7.1.0
Saw this posted yesterday.. anyone know whats new? Thanks!
openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-gt-klte
Edit: What's new in 2.7.1.0:
Add GUI option to change or repair file systems on individual partitions. The change is destructive so backup your data including internal sdcard first. This option should make it a little easier to migrate a device from ext4 -> f2fs, for instance. You will find this option under Wipe -> Advanced Wipe, then select only one partition and then press the Repair or Change File System button. If a developer has added f2fs support for your device and we don't have it in TWRP, please contact me via PM to arrange for it to be added.
Various bugfixes to backup and restore
Improvements to USB storage handling
Added a class to search for files to make finding the correct brightness file automatic in most cases
Various other bugfixes and tweaks

[Recovery] ClockworkMod 3.1.0.1-solarnz-R3 Modded for Internal media

ClockworkMod Recovery - Modified for Asus Transformer
OK, so this recovery will skip /data/media (Internal storage) when performing nandroid backups and also when you perform a factory reset.
This means that we can now perform nandroid backups without backing up our internal media and removing it everytime you want to do a backup.
Thanks to Bigrushdog and MadIndustries for helping out with the concept of the solution for skipping /data/media.
Also thanks to Koush and all the other developers that have contributed to clockworkmod, without you guys the android world would be completely different.
Thanks also to everyone in #xoom & #transformer that tested this.
The source code for all changes etc are available through the github repository. The two other projects that have been modified to make this recovery possible can also be viewed through my github account.
Even though this recovery has been tested, I am not liable for any loss of data or any damages done by this recovery.
==============================================
General Notes
When I refer to /data/media, this is the same as /sdcard when the transformer is booted into honeycomb. So any data that is stored in here should be untouched by this recovery.
Nandroid backups and restores don't touch the boot or recovery partitions.
If you encounter a problem with the filesystem on /data like it has become corrupt, place a blank file called "eraseData" (without the quotes) in the clockworkmod folder on your external sdcard. This will revert to the old way of formatting /data. NOTE: by doing this you will lose everything that you have in /data/media.
Versioning of recovery images:
At the moment I don't have a version number as such, instead each recovery image is timestamped in the format of DDMMYY-HHYY. So the file recovery-solarnz-120511-2030.img was produced on 12 May 2011 at 8:30 PM. This versioning is also shown in recovery when it starts.
==============================================
Downloads
Recovery Zip (solarnz-R3-240511-1908) FLASHED THROUGH CWM
MD5: 4470bee75f3318f07ec1eb5ddcee1f96
==============================================
Installation Instructions
Method 1 Flashing through CWM
Download the recovery zip file
Place the recovery zip on the sdcard where clockworkmod can read it.
Reboot into recovery using "adb reboot recovery" or any other method
In recovery, select flash zip from sdcard and select the recovery zip you downloaded
Once it has flashed the zip file, be sure to reboot your transformer so it complete the flashing process.

Also, you can grab Rom Manager or QuickBoot from the market for easy access to recovery.

- Initial release for Asus Transformer
- Modified to skip /data/media or /sdcard in nandroid backups.
- Modified formatting /data to remove directories and folders so we can keep media.
- Place a file called eraseData in the clockworkmod directory on your EXTERNAL sdcard to revert to the normal restoration method.

Great work. I've tested extensively and have found no problems. this does exactly what it says on the tin.
I can also confirm that this version works fine with restoring pre-existing nandroid backups from the same device.
AT LAST someones done it! Thank you
Why it's specific to Transformer? What about Xoom? Does it has different data layout? I thought it should be standard to Honeycomb...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Will this be compatible with previous backups I have made? Will the previous backups still restore the sdcard folder still?
Also, +1 about why this has to be unique for the TF and can't be honeycomb universal.
anyone install rom manager yet? it says that i don't have CWM recovery installed but i do because i've used it shoudd i reinstall useing ROM manager?

Neither of these methods will work currently to reboot into recovery. However you can use Quickboot to reboot the TF and hold the Vol Down then press Vol Up to get to recovery.

Good to know going to flash this tonite, hopefully they will be able to get this working like we have on the phones. But like ViviDboarder said I can do it old school for now
Great! Def needed this.
Does anyone know if performing a factory reset/wiping deletes the data in this directory?
Yes, that will wipe the data too.
Thanks for the CWM mod, this will save me the headache of having to backup my music and videos for no reason

[KEXEC][CM9][AOKP] Update PRL and Calibrate Sensors for CM9 and AOKP

Epic CM Team Blog: Boot FC09 from SDCard
Useful Utility for CM9 Epic 4G
This is a temporary ROM that boots Samsung's FC09 firmware entirely from sdcard without making any changes to the ROM installed on your phone. Simply reboot to return to your normal ROM. This sdcard ROM is useful for several purposes.
Settings > About Phone > System updates >
Update Profile.
Update PRL.
Settings > Display > Horizontal calibration
Do this if you have problems with auto rotate on CM9.
Sprint Activation.
Dial codes and diagnostic mode.
Test Samsung FC09 behavior to aid in CM development.
Changelog
FC09-based with working 3G, 4G, Update Profile, faster speed.
Uses 500MB on sdcard instead of 1GB.
Includes Connectbot and GPS Status.
Wow! This is excellent! Thank you Warren. I'm glad you decided to begin developing for the Epic. Your releases are invaluable thus far.
I look forward to seeing more from you!
This looks awesome! Thanks for your hard work!
Wow. Very cool. So glad someone else is here to prove how versatile this device is.
wtogami said:
Mainly useful for CM7 users:
This is an unusual ROM that boots entirely from your sdcard. This allows you to temporarily boot into stock EL30 which might be useful for various purposes included:
Test stuff on EL30 to compare behavior to aid in CM debugging.
Update Profile, PRL, or do Sprint Hands Free activation.
samsung-epic-stock-el30-kexec-multiboot.tar.bz2
171MB md5sum c4532cd10b37382d25af8304deb57fe8
How To Procedure
Download the tarball.
Unpack it in sdcard, leave the directory structure intact.
Boot into CWM.
"Flash" multiboot/EL30/boot_EL30.zip
It will boot EL30.
Warnings!
DO NOT MOUNT USB STORAGE. BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PRODUCTION USE.
It will be a bit slow because your sdcard is slow.

I have not done it, but I will try to explain how I understand it working. Basically you are unpacking a rom onto your SD card and then booting into CWM and flashing a script. The script tells the phone to boot the rom on the SD card. So you will boot into EL30, which is the rom on the SD card. You can do whatever you want to accomplish within EL30, and when you are done you simply reboot your phone. Your phone will boot normally into whatever rom it was running before you did anything, because the only way to boot into the EL30 rom on your SD card is by flashing the script in CWM.
So basically, its a rom that sits on your SD card and is never ever used unless you flash the "boot_EL30.zip" script in CWM, and even then it only boots into it once. As soon as you reboot you are back into CM7 or whatever other rom you are running.
With epic-scale gratitude to you for this wtogami!
Only last week had ODIN'd back to stock just simply to Update Profile............this Rocks!

I'm asking this purely out of being curious, but reading the information over on CM7 it says not to mount the SD Card.
Theoretically what would happen if you were to mount the SD Card while running this?

Well, since the entire rom and kernel are read from your SD card, and the SD is automatically unmounted from the phone in order to mount as USB storage... remember the warning about apps on the phone being unable to access the sd card while it is usb-mounted? It would be like suddenly disconnecting the hdd containing your windows installation while the computer is on (maybe not exactly the same, but hopefully you see the conflict that would arise?)

Just out of curiosity, the download page says 171 MB, but the download itself is only 164 MB. Maybe a typo? Or uncompressed size?

[ROM] Maniacs Arrival

Maniacs Arrival based off of .26 ota Firmware
I am not responsible for any bricks, crashes, or warrenty replacements. However, if the Joker takes your city hostage, please let me know so I can use my Batman Halloween costume and fight evil.
Realize that there many be bugs with this build, although minimal as this is basically stock but i will get around to fixing them. thats a promise
Based off of System Dump of .26 Firmware
Deodexed, Zipaligned, and rooted with provided superuser.zip
Debloated of many Asus apps, more to come in future updates
Awesomeness put in, find out for yourself
Requirements:
1. Rooted TF700
2. Unlocked bootloader provided by Asus Unlock apk
3. TWRP installed (easiest way is to flash through goomanager)
4. A general idea of what you are getting into
Procedure:
1. Download Rom provided at end of post
2. Download superuser.zip provided at end of post
3. Copy both Rom and superuser.zip to the root of your MicroSD/Internal Storage (personally prefer MicroSD)
4. Boot into TWRP recovery
5. Make a full backup in TWRP
6. Factory reset in wipe options
6.5. If wiling wipe both cache and dalvik cache, as it provides a possible cleaner install
7. Flash Maniacs Arrival ROM
8. Flash superuser.zip to ensure proper root access
9. Reboot. Please be patient as the initial boot could take up to 5 minutes, this is not the fault of the ROM
10. Profit!
Credits go out to the following for their support and help:
1. eoh7678 for his updater-script which caused me multiple problems and his permission to use certain files
2. zeus34 for his support as we have been working days trying to make this all happen for you guys
3. KilerG for his look ins and his general support (plus his willingness to actually "learn something new")
4. Google for the continued ability to let us do as we want with our Android Devices
5. Asus for giving us the Unlock apk to flash custom roms and make the device how we truely want it
I have no issues with anyone who wants to use this ROM as a base for their themes or own custom roms, as long as credit is given where credit is due

Congratulations! I did successfully install your ROM and rebuilt about 400 installed apps with TB. Everything worked great!
Issues were in TWRP:
1.) Used SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 - works with 26 firmware in Android ICS OS.
2.) TWRP will not mount this MicroSD in Recovery - I did Factory Reset and wiped caches now TWRP can't find zips on the MicroSD. (TWRP worked this weekend with a 16GB MicroSDHC Restoring Backups and seeing ROM zips).
3.) Did a TWRP Restore (worked) - Moved ROM & SU zips to internal storage.
4.) Found zips internal storage and flashed successfully with SU in apps. About Tablet shows "Maniacs Arrival".
5.) I did not see busybox after ROM installed?
6.) Only 1-app in TB backup did NOT restore - "Unlock Device Tool 7.0" just uncheck in Restore missing apps with data. Otherwise, TB will hang.
7.) Still unlocked so probably don't need the "Unlock Device Tool 7.0" app installed any more (have a TWRP backup though).
8.) I backedup Nova launcher and restored that successfully as well.
Hope this testing helps!
I will run this ROM for now and report if I find any issues. Not much different from what I had before flashing. However, a good start.
Good Job!
That's exactly what it is. A start. Appreciate the feedback and there will be more to come in the future

Was this based off the WW or the US OTA? (and with that.. does it even matter if we're running US version on our WW version? Any differences?). I'll give it a try later on once I've get my new microSD today (apparently it's not wise to let my cat chew it and spit it out again .. seriously /fail).

Many 64GB sdcards are formatted as exFAT instead of regular FAT. If you reformat the card to regular FAT then it should work in TWRP.
Dees_Troy:
Reformatted 64gb card using GParted to FAT32 still no go in TWRP with this card. Android ICS finds all formats in MicroSD slot with firmware 26.

This is a base ROM...not going to be a ton of excitement about it.
Hey guys, I got the Transformer Infinity yesterday and I am just in love with it. I was on the fence about rooting and unlocking it because it just seemed so great already but I am a flashoholic for I have an Inspire 4g that I mess around with a lot, so I had to do it. BUT ANYWAYS, I was wondering, does this rom remove any of the preinstalled apps? I really got accustomed to the widgets and app backup. I had flashed the ROM Zeus_TF700T_series_v4.0 but it had removed most everything that was preinstalled and I missed it. Does this ROM remove anything or even does it add anything?? ALSO, when the Jelly Bean Update comes out, would I be able to update from this ROM? Any feedback would be much appreciated, and sorry for writing a whole novel, I just have a lot of questions.

[CWM] Pantech Flex P8010

Hello people,
I am proud to present CWM recovery v5.8.0.2 for the FLEX!
THIS IS NOT UPDATED FOR JELLYBEAN!!..yet
UPDATED support for either internal or external sd
THE ACTUAL CONTENTS OF THE INTERNAL SDCARD ARE LOCATED IN THE /data/media FOLDER ON THE PHONE SO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE /media FOLDER TO GET YOUR INTERNAL SDCARD's ZIP FILES AND STUFF WHEN CHOOSING INSTALL ZIP FROM SDCARD. ALSO THE BACKUPS YOU MAKE WILL BE STORED IN THE /data/clockworkmod/blahblah FOLDER ON THE PHONE SO I RECOMMEND YOU BUY AN EXTERNAL SD CARD BUT ITS JUST WHATEVVS.
Alright you will need a few things before you can install.
1. Rooted Pantech Flex P8010 (oscar)
2. Computer
3. Basic knowlege of adb/fastboot
4. ADB/Fastboot
READ ME (Disclaimer)
WARNING: THIS VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY
I am not responsible for you bricking your phone or anything that you do to your phone e.g. flash wrong zips , drop it in coke ect.
INSTRUCTIONS
Get a file manager such as Root Explorer and delete the FILE in the /system folder called "recovery_from_boot.p". Get the signed zip file for your desired sdcard mount point (either internal or external sd), and put it in your /external_sd or /sdcard folder. Download and put the .img file (also corresponding to the desired mount point for your sdcard) in adb folder and rename it boot.img. Then put the phone into fastboot mode (google it).
Type:
fastboot boot boot.img
And CWM recovery will pop up after a few seconds. Then choose install zip from sdcard and browse to the CWM_flex-P8010.zip and install it. Then reboot into recovery again and YAY! nandroid time :good:
BIG HUGE thanks to atadres for helping me along the way and also making the flashable zip :highfive:
Score dude! Team flex has such a bright future with these devs. Glad I could help
Bravo Timmy!
Timmy after playing around with,it ive, noticed its not able to browse internal sd,card only external, but thats a,minor issue no biggie, really

If you get the update forcefully, just reroot the phone using the previous method then install the recovery. That is what I just did and it worked for me. Syncing git repos as we speak
@timmythanoob please share how you did it....for knowledge's sake
I used a pantech burst cwm recovery and made it compatible with the flex (recovery.fstab, init.rc,) and I also used a /sbin/recovery file from an atrix 4g to get the resolution right for our screen (qHD).

[Recovery] [D850] [2014-12-14] TWRP 2.8.2.0 - Bump!ed

TWRP 2.8.2.0Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
This is not an official TeamWin TWRP build. I used TWRP sources found HERE, device tree that I created for TWRP that can be found HERE along with many trial and error builds that took just as many hours to get it right...
Changelog:
CHANGELOG for 2.8.2.0:
-Pull in all changes from Android 5.0 lollipop into TWRP
-Add decrypt support for Android 5.0 lollipop encrypted partitions including automatic decrypt when the default_password is in use
-Revert some changes to exFAT that were breaking exFAT support on some devices
-Other minor fixes and updates
Note: At this time we do not have a GUI representation for pattern unlock. You can still decrypt patterns though by translating the pattern dots to numbers. The pattern dots correspond to numbers in the following pattern:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
So an upper-case L would translate to a password of 14789 entered on the keyboard. Eventually we plan to add a proper pattern unlock to TWRP but it is a relatively low priority at this point.
More info and changelog can be found on the official TWRP website HERE
Install Instructions:
You will need root which you can find HERE by @autoprime
With custom recovery already installed.
Download
Place zip file on phone
Reboot into recovery
Flash zip file through recovery
Reboot
With stock recovery - Need ADB installed.
Download zip file
Extract recovery.zip to your device's SD Card, not external but internal memory.
Open terminal window/command prompt to execute following commands
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
exit
exit
adb reboot recovery
You should be in your updated recovery now

Works great. Great work. Sucks I just formatted my card to FAT less than 24 hours ago.

He means that SD Cards formatted to ExFat are supported in recovery now. You can backup and install from an SD Card formatted to ExFat.
So can we keep sd card to fat32 or should we switch back?

You can keep it formatted to FAT32 but, there is a 4GB file size limit on the FAT32 file system. I would recommend switching to ExFat as it is a faster file system and doesn't have the file size limitations that FAT32 has.
Ok, I guess what I'm asking is, how do I format the SD card to exfat? I can format it to fst32 with twrp but not the other way that I can see.

So i know nexus devices are encrypted by default now, but are most lollipop roms (like cm12) encrypted too? also, if we reflash another lollipop rom after decrypting will revert back to being encrypted?
Anyone else's twrp status bar not filling up properly and actually in a line to the left??

For some reason my phone doesn't restart into the system. Gets back to TWRP. Power off, battery pull and power on still gets it back to recovery. Backup restore didn't help.
I flashed recovery with Flashify, created backup, got back into the system. And overnight something happened.

Same here. This morning woke up to find my phone in TWRP recovery and would not boot system. Stuck in a loop that takes it straight to TWRP recovery. I have a feeling a system update did this because one showed up from AT&T that even though I did not install it, must have self-installed overnight and caused this. Ideas?
