Media Controller not working - Samsung Gear 2

From what I hear galaxy gear 1 owners have this issue and it seems to be on my gear 2 too it won't change anything not the volume not playing or pausing or changing tracks my device is note 3 on custom TouchMy wiz 4.4.2. Has anybody this issue with the media controller? My custom rom is X-note with civz snap kat kernel

works fine for me
I can even launch the music app directly from my gear 2 neo
looks great too

Works great for me. Play music is my preferred player. Maybe it's your custom rom.

Just did a little a experimentation for you through media controller you can control not only the stock samsung player but poweramp as well but only through the stock samsung player you can see on your gear the name of the track and the cover picture if there is any.. hope it helps.

There's something wrong with my media controller
My media controller on my gear 2 doesnt work, i cant play, change the volume or the songs on my galaxy s5. I connected it with a galaxy s4 and it has no issues. Im currently running TizenMod rom v3.0 by skin 1980 if that helps in anyway

[Q] Galaxy tab 2 10.1 questions

Hey all,
I just bought this tablet today, after trading in my 32GB playbook, nice machine; no apps (atleast non that appealed to me), plays my music well. haven't tried video yet...
having issues getting my windows 7 64 bit computer to even see the tab... using the normal mtp setting... have to set it to camera to have it connect... and that is even giving me some issues like disappearing from windows explorer all together
not sure why this is...
anyone know if there is a certain driver that this things supposed to use?
Also if i have any other questions about the device i will add them to this thread.

for music and one of the reasons for getting an android tablet... Power AMP with rock EQ preset enabled.
as for the driver thing, i uninstalled the driver from device manager and rebooted the computer, it redetected the tablet and installed fine, though it did take longer to do so this time, but it worked.
as for rooting... not sure yet. though i would love to get the kobo app working normally... whatever this preinstalled ReaderHub thing is it hijacked my library.
wifi times out...
Another question... is there aa way to keep the wifi running constantly while streaming video? It likes to stop mid stream forcing the video to pause while it rebuffers more (which sometimes causes the video to start over or crash)... very annoying in my opinion. I do not hsve this iissue on my win 7 wifi desktop.
I am running the stock browser since it allows me to access all my crome bookmarks and has working flash (.17 build from the adobe flash download archive site)
I think their is option to disable sleep of wifi in setting

I would try it anyway it may help, I see your scenario, while streaming or playing video tab should be awake anyway.
This is an issue when streaming music and the screen times out. You have nothing to lose trying it.

PowerAmp for its functionality!

Just JetAudio
Probably not a very popular choice here, but I really like Shuttle Music Player, even bought it after some time of using the free version. Personally, I feel that players like PowerAMP while universally liked are way too overloaded and have pretty basic UI. Shuttle offers simplicity, robustness and Holo UI. Try it out!

Are any of these music players able to connect to Google Play music? I love the idea of storing all my music on the cloud, but not too crazy about the layout of the Google app.

[Q] Smartwatch 2 + Music app + Nexus 5

Hi everyone,
I just got my Nexus 5 + KitKat and I tryed using the SW2, and everything seems ok, except the Music player as each time I try opening the app on the watch or starting playing music (with Google Music) on the phone, the Extra Smart Music app force closed.
(this app play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware.extension.music )
I was using the Sony SW1 with a 2.3 device and music was OK with Google Music.
Did some of you had any issue with this app ? Or any other solution. It was the one great thing I loved doing with the first watch!
Thanks in advance

Did you ever resolve this? I'm using the SW2 on a Nexus 5 and I tried 2 different music apps that both force close when I try to open them on my watch. Very annoying.
Nop did not find a way...
I will try to get it to Sony, but don't really know if they care that much for nexus 5 users right now...
Ok so I got it to work with Augmented SmartWatch

Yes but Poweramp is not working with Google Music :/

No way to control music??

It looks like there is no way to control music currently?
Until recently I have been using the Smart Extras Music app and Media Button control apps to control my music player (Google Music). Now that I have updated to KitKat, the Smart Extras Music app crashes.
Sony should be ashamed. This is one of the main uses of the damn watch. :cyclops:
I am developer by trade, so I will use Sony's API to create an app to do it, but it is infuriating that I have to!
This sort of stuff is the reason I sold my Xperia S and bought a Nexus!
I just picked up a sw2 and have the n5, willing to test for you if need be

A possible solution could be to find another working music player smart extension on the Google Play.
In my case the Sony music player extension no longer works after the latest update, so I bought this one and it works well with my S4 stock music player and it's also fast responding:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.disrapptive.smart.music
If you want to try, consider that if you'll not be satisfied with it you have 15 minutes to eventually ask for a reimbursement.
Re: No way to control music
Sony should create a application that could help in stoping and playing music from the Smartwatch
If you have poweramp player installed, you can use it's plugin. It supports SW1 and SW2.
And what about default app for SW1 - it works with both default player and poweramp. Don't know about SW2.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware.extension.music
Check this default app out.
Re: No ways to control music
Yes I did not find any way to control to music over smartwatch..
Works fine for me on my N4 with 4.4.2 in ART mode and Google Music. It sometimes takes a few attempts but then works fine. I just don't see any album art on the SW2.
Make sure you don't have some sort of task killer and that you didn't Greenify the Sony apps.
A Redditor created a new extension to control music. His one shows album art and also supports the new "low power" mode: http://www.reddit.com/r/smartwatch/comments/1ty29q/smartwatch_2_music_control
Ive solved this problem with remote widgets app and Its perfect.

I get:
Parse error
There was a problem while parsing the package.
Nexus 4, Android 4.3. I guess perhaps the guy has written it only for 4.4 for now?
I had a chance to have a closer look. It is a permission error:
Code:
permission Denial: reading com.android.providers.media.MediaProvider uri
I don't have the full text of the log cat entry, as stupid me didn't save it before factory reset my phone.
Anyway, it turns out the Sony music control app is getting a permission denied error under KitKat when it attempts to retrieve album art.
The work around is to root your device. I hadn't gotten around to rooting my N4 until now. My N4 is now rooted, and it all works fine.
It is a pretty piss poor effort by Sony that they haven't fixed this. On Facebook their excuse was that "their phones don't run KitKat yet". Big deal Sony, you market you watches to other brands of phone too. This is exactly the sort of attitude that caused me to sell my Xperia S and get a Nexus.

My Nexus 5 is rooted and yet the Sony extension has never worked well, in fact it's easily the worse part of the watch. I have had no problems with anything else, aside from the music app. I wonder how did you get it to work with root? Do you need to give it permission elsewhere?
The above app from the Reddit thread works nicely, very simple but, album art is sort of there and it only plays/pauses but, it WORKS which is the main thing.

poweramp with gear2(solved)

Poweramp Track Title Doesn't Display on my Galaxy Gear2
When I use the Poweramp app to play music from my phone, the track title does not display in the Music App on my Galaxy Gear2. It works fine with Google Music and Samsung Music apps.
Anyone else have this issue using Poweramp? or how to make it work~
are you saying with the stock music player and google music you play a song on the phone and it automatically shows up on the watch ? , I been trying to get this to work with no luck yet , all I can do it pop music on the watch itself and play music from it.
is there a way to play and control music that's on your phone from the watch ?
or do files have to be stored on the watch, thinking the media controls on the watch would act as a remote for the phone.

Use the "Media Controller" found under Apps on the watch. Not the music player. But I think you can only skip or go back a track. You can't select what to listen to with Google music. You need to start it on your phone first.

If anybody have don't see album pic or track name, switch ON [Settings-Lock Screen]
