I was using Slimkat. When you are flashing a new ROM, you should do a clean wipe. Yes, I used my Titanium Backup to restore my apps.
This is a fantastic ROM with all the customizations you will ever need!

I mean our head devs will most likely never be in this thread answering questions and supporting users. Neither of them have the device and it exists because I own it and do sound and graphics design on the team.
This ROM WILL get updates whenever Validus updates ...we are more of a weekly or every 2 weekly release team than night lies though so please refrain from ETA's. The updates will be here as they become available,..
I will help out whenever I can and I'm hoping the community here will help each other.
If you do find a kernel that works let me know as I haven't experimented with any custom kernels for my tab yet. We are hoping to have the stock one fixed as well asap, but these are the downsides to getting themes to work,..If you cant find a kernel that works simply disable/delete themes for now and run HK theme manager through xposed. It works perfect!

Did not work. Booting and everything else is fine, but still get theme fc's.

Could you download "Selinux mode changer" from the play store and change your device status to permissive while running the stock kernel?? We think that is what's messing with the Theme FC. I deleted the theme engine and provider right off my tablet so i cant test it right this second, but one of our dev's claims he used that app, changed to permissive and it fixed it. We are just testing the theory on all devices before trying to change the selinux status globally over all devices...thx in advance to anyone that wants to give it a whirl...

Nope, same dev I was the one who ported slim ics...this won't get taken down cause I did it from source this time
Anyways, let me know any bugs you run into...I just did a quick test...WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS (slow..doesn't have Scott's fix for fast gps yet), and the main stuff were working...went out for dinner, then school shopping then worked out so I haven't gotten to thouroghly test it yet for bugs...just made sure the main things worked

Yeah, does not yet have the agps/GPS.conf fix yet...will have that in the next update, as well as add in ota support, and possibly slim it down...I think he current build has items other device zips don't because they are included in the common zip - I want it to be as slim as other versions...which total to about 80-90 after adding device zip to common zip...so basically I wanna try and clear 15-30mb...probably 15 cause we have a 15mb modem included that others do not have
Got a whole weekend to work on this and another project that should be released by Sunday...
Also, due to school updates will almost always be done on the weekends...unless I have little homework this year...too early to tell

That may work, but Scotts fix was actually disabling agps because agps was not cooperating with jellybean...I think the GPS.conf was also edited...gotta look for the post...but it was dani who discovered the fix and brought it to Scotts attention I believe

About LiquidSmooth
An aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project.
http://goo.im/devs/liquidsmooth
Description
We are dedicated to providing android users with smooth, stable and fast Roms. As a team we strive to support a wide variety of devices. Our main focus in these roms is speed, stability and size.
We do our best to include a vast amount of options to meet the preferences of the majority of what the users desire within optional and customizable features.
Moving forward into the future, we as a team intend to continue to provide these things and more. The aforementioned is only the core. Technology is ever changing before our eyes each and everyday.
In order to keep up with this our team not only spends a large amount of time developing Roms and enhanced features but also devotes a great deal of time to staying on top of changing technological trends.
With these changes we will continue to produce updated Roms, trying to keep up with new devices as they are released and attempt to include as many desired optional features as possible.

Alpha meant for testing the only sure fire thing that works right now is wifi, read the op. If your looking for a daily driver this is not it. Need people willing to test and produce logcats if possible. Other than that make a backup in cwm and test when you can, than restore two your last good rom. I am currently testing the cm 10.1 which experiencing the same issues. Exciting

U my friend have just violated one of the biggest xda rules... NEVER ASK FOR ETAs... seriously devs hate that and it is a real xda forum rule and its rude devs do this for free and use their family time to bring us what we could only dream of otherwise... so just be considerate of all that when posting here or anywhere my friend...

Yes we are still working on getting a kernel.. as for a time frame ??? When we get it you will know!!!!
3.6+ kernel for Blaze, how can I help?
I see the same thing repeated.. we're working on a kernel.
I would like to ask, who is working on the kernel, what are they having problems with, and what can I do to help?
I know linux, build systems (long time gentoo ) C, Java, Bash, etc etc..
I am in the beginnings of learning kernel driver development, and i own a blaze... Could someone give me a point in the right direction?
Thanks,

Everyone here is a badace dev.lol you can DL the source, build, but... plenty smart people have been wracking there brains for sometime on this. If you want to contribute, go to Irc.free node.net and there under #cyanogenmod or #cyanogenmod-dev, you need to talk to uberpinguin are cm maintainer or you could pm dr4stic , but like I said both and others are/have been trying and havnt quit. Lol.. Not nearly a bad ace dev.. few more years for that, I think What I am is intelligent and motivated.. I have been trying to understand which drivers are built in to the 3.x kernel series and which are propriatary blobs, and if those have any kind of build or config or if they statically compiled against 2x kernel headers and thats all there is to it.. then if i understand it correctly, its fighting against abi mismatches.. which may well be doomed unless the drivers are reverse engineered.. see there isnt alot of info about how this stuff is done initially by the manufacturer. I am working through the kernel dev books, and aosp and vanilla kernels.. just not sure what I need to learn to be useful. I am studying computer science with kernel/driver development as my career goal, and need to get started on a portfolio fwiw..
I will pop in on freenode, thanks for the pointer

COMPLETELY go back to stock.

Hello,
A few months ago I rooted my SGA. It was all fine and everything worked great, but it tends to freeze sometimes (I'm not the only one having that problem) and it gets fairly hot too. My build.prop is edited a little and my framework is also patched.
I could reset everything to default by using the apk backups and undoing the changes in my build.prop file, but I'd rather start from scratch and reflash the stock rom.
How can I take a backup image of this state of my phone and reset it back to default?
Also, I only rooted my phone, so the bootloader is still locked.
These are my builds etc:

Well, install a kernel with CWM included, and do a backup on your SD card.
After that, you can simply take the card out, and use Odin to install a fresh JB.

Hello,
A few months ago I rooted my SGA.
Thanks in 'advance',
Anthe

Is XXLQE firmware smooth..or Ddupl8 is preferred?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
would prefer ddulp8 (dont tried this fw). XXLQE is only smooth if you install a custom kernel like cocore ... without it have too much lags (freezing while watching videos etc)...

all the firmwares have some lags. You should install the one (if exists) coresponding to your country, root, install a custom kernel (I recommend CoCore) and uninstall or at least freeze bloatware apps.
I have for 6 months the russian LQ4, and is working great. Waiting for a stable CM or MIUI

My phone is rooted, yes.
Well.. after I rooted (back in June or May, can't remember) my phone started lagging a lot. Suddenly like when watching a video or playing a game, my device starts stuttering and touch becomes unresponsive (it happens at the randomest times). When I press the power button or the home key for example, the actions happen 30 seconds to a minute later. Screen tends to go black too. Using the app 'Fast Reboot' the problems are solved. It's really darn annoying to have a phone that doesn't do what you command.
Thanks

Well, if you are rooted, I strongly sugest you to do the following:
-install custom kernel (cocore is your best bet) - it will give you custom recovery, and that's awesome.
-install Titanium Backup and freeze or uninstall bloatware (there is somewhere around a list of safe apps to delete)
-install Greenify apps and hibernate not often used apps.
If you have questions, don't be shy and ask.

Warning: Cocore is working only on stock ROM. If you want to install on Cyanogenmod, it will brick your phone. The safest way to flash CoCore is to install the app Universal Kernel Flash. You will find it around here.
Cyanogenmod is ok as it is, with a fee bugs, and best nightly seems to be that one from 28th of September.
I was on stock for 7 months using cocore as kernel and it was ok. Now I have Paul's PAC ROM. Good, except battery life.
Good luck!

Oh! Good you told me! So if I want to flash Cyanogenmod, what should I do? I don't really know if there are other kernels, compatible with other roms, that provide CWM.

To flash Cyanogenmod:
- install Universal Kernel Flash to easy flash CoCore (you will gain CWM recovery in this way).
- flash CoCore that works for your phone (Cocore E for GT-I9070 or Cocore EP for GT-I9070P).
- reboot and see if everything is ok.
- download Cyanogenmod and Google apps from the link provided in its thread and put them in your sd card.
- boot into CWM recovery.
- make a full system backup (if something will end badly you can always restore your backup).
- wipe cache, dalvik and system from CWM.
- install ZIP from CWM (meaning flash Cyanogenmod).
- install google apps
- reboot, wait a little (around 5 minutes), and enjoy Cyanogenmod.
If something goes wrong, reboot into CWM recovery (Cyanogenmod's kernel have CWM), and restore your backup.
Good luck, mate!

Hi everybody...
I'm kinda new to Android...

I think that someone with a lot of porting experience can get this to (partially) work, I have no experience with porting what soever, but I do know Python and learning VB. Would be cool if I could use those in android
I hope someone may consider it. I am learning all this stuff with a lot of effort. I have until now been developing apps only... But ROM dev and porting, and kernel tweaking is really interesting. But you can use python in android...at least in app dev.

WiFi is broken, keeping me from relasing.
Wasn't really a port, was more of recompiling the kernel and adding blaze support kind of thing. Only took me 9 hours...

Do you have like tutorials for porting tw roms from similar devices(Hercules etc)? I would like to learn that. If not please give me some guidelines. I would really be thankful. Anyways you know a lot of stuff, have you ever considered passing that expertise to others? Oh well, i know there are a lot of tutorials on everything all over the forum and stuff, but maybe your way is different. You have done a lot of dev work, that's what i mean.

No tutorials it's all prior knowledge.
Well here's how this project came to be :
1) read this thread
2) downloaded the source code
3) diffed the defconfigs of herc, the cm t769 and the ics apex one.
4) compiled a kernel
5) repacked boot.img
6) didn't boot
7) replaced my uber kernel with the compiled kernel
8) booted, no network, wifi, gapps.
9)Repeat 4,6,8, and 9 five times. 10) debug ril. Fixed
11) post screen shot
12) go to sleep

[KERNEL][AOSP 4.4.x][1.89 GHz OC] UBER 4.1 [Blaze 4g and Exhilarate]

Enjoy!
This kernel is still in beta.
This is a kernel based off of the wonderful work done by cl3kener. I've merged many new changes since its 4.3 abandonment.
Some standards:
Many governors
OC at 1.89GHz for t769, 1.6 for Exhilarate (i577)
Stability optimization
Battery length
To do:
Work on thread
Fix speakerphone
Downloads can be found here for the t769 and here for the exhilarate
GPL compliance : https://github.com/somcom3x/msm8660-uberkernel
Can i have this one?

Alright my man, here's what I found on my device (because I understand that they're all different). I followed the op, and the max freq would not budge from 1.89. I tried rebooting, turning off all tweaks available on Gummy, letting it sit. No go. Then I tried using an app to change, no go. I even tried Project Killjoy to see if his cputuner could contain it. Could not. The governors changed, the schedulers changed, no problems there. The other thing (and this might be the kernel, so inform on this if it is) but Android Tuner was reporting the both cores were running the entire time. Usually core 2 is in standby until needed, I was doing nothing that would require both. Because of the locked in freq and both cores, it was demolishing my battery, so I had to restore. But I loved the different governor/scheduler options! If some of this is user error let me know, I'll reflash and try your suggestions! Thanks Somcom for giving this to us

Yes. I thought I disabled it though. It's the frandum module. Removing frandum.ko from system/lib/modules will let you edit the cores in a third party app. Performance changes doesn't seem to be working built-in.
