Same problem here... maybe a ROM problem?
------------- Edited: -------------
It seems that you need external power to the USB...
With the ROM - kernel i have my USB or my mouse does not power up.
Has anyone try with a OTG-Y cable? (i have a simple OTG with no external power)
Or try with a HDD with external power... this should also work... (i may try tomorrow with one)
You also need to mount the USB:
- with an app, download StickMount or USB OTG Helper or any other such app...
- or i think we can edit the "system/etc/vold.fstab" file. Use a text editor to open the file, add the following code to the end of vold.fstab:
Code:
# usb otg disk
dev_mount usbotg /mnt/usbotg auto /devices/platform/mt_usb /devices/platform/musbfsh_hdrc
Then restart the phone.
I am on A850_S121_28.11.2013_MULTI_LNG_by_linerty.
If anyone has a different ROM, try with a OTG cable and OTG-Y cable... waiting for answers...

That was deprecated as it was causing more issues than good. You could try using Air Droid to wirelessly transfer files via wi-fi.

It would be better to fix MTP on your computer. What os are you running?
later cm10.1 roms do not support usb mass storage, it was depreciated
if mtp does not work it could be drivers, cable or the usb port on ur comp, which setting is it on in the storage menu
MTP now works since i installed WMP 11 but its slow transfering files, and sometimes it loops in transfering files aka it transfers same file infinate times......

Yeah it's super slow. I can transfer a 1.5GB file in about 4-5 minutes while mounting usb in recovery.
In CM with MTP it takes about 15 minutes.

USB OTG for Micromax A92 Canvas Lite...

Pre-request
Root your A92
USB Memory Manager (Find Attachment)
A OTG cable
USB Memory Device
Usage
After install the application
start the program

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now you can insert your Memory Stick, Memory Card Reader into the A92 and wait a few second then press the [MENU] key on top and press the "Re scan Device".(You must have a OTG cable for connect the A92 to USB devices. External HDD will work if you can have power to the HDD, DO NOT direct connect a HDD to A92)
After the scanning complete, press on the device list bar, a device list will pop up and disaplay scanned device ready for your selection. (Sometimes you may see sda, sda1, sda2 or others depends on USB device, in general sda is the drive and sda(x) is the partition on the drive, so if you see sda(x) you better select sda(x). If you only find sda, then select sda is fine, I have one memory stick like this.)
After select the device, you can select which kind of file system is on the partition. (vfat is equal to FAT32, I think this is the most comman one)
Now you can modify the mount point name if you like, then press the "Mount File System" button, after that you can access the memory stick via any Android file manager and find the folder that you named in the mount point field.
Before you unplug the memory stick, remember to un-mount it first, by launch the application again and press the "Unmount File System" button .
That's it, hope you enjoy!
What is the use of it?

[APP][HOW TO] Enable USB Mass Storage Mode in Yuphoria to mount SD Card into Computer

Requirements:
1. Rooted Yuphoria phone with any ROM (this MAY work in other Yu phones.)
2. SE Linux Mode Changer app
One-Time Initial Steps:
1. Open SE Linux Mode Changer app and set it to 'Permissive' mode.
(This is required for write operations in SD card to work, else SD Card will be mounted as read-only).
2. Download and install the app from this thread: USB Mass Storage Universal.apk.
Steps to Enable UMS (USB Mass Storage):
1. Connect phone to Computer or TV or DVD or whatever.
2. Open the 'Universal UMS' app and press 'Enable UMS (soft method)' and give it root access.

Note:
It might take few seconds to get connected since CM uses dynamic partitions mounting
(It takes time to transfer the handle to LUN)
So be patient
That's it! Mass Storage Mode will be enabled.
Hit the Thanks Button if it worked
New App Added
I've just created an app for UMS, based on the previous script file..
yap
Great......but phone storage not be show.

I can't connect usb with the moto 8 plus at all

I can't connect via usb with the moto 8 plus at all. Already:
-I turned on developer mode and turned on usb debugging.
-I used another usb cable - it gave the same problem
-I've already tested it on another usb port - it gave the same problem
-Already installed and reinstalled the drivers using the file: Motorola_Mobile_Drivers_64bit.msi
-I've already gone to the driver which contains the error I said to uninstall and as soon as I connect again it gives the same error! Every time when connecting to this:

In the usb controllers part of this: Error: Unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed) With the g5 moto that I have everything is fine, I bought this g8 and it just stays there. The device is formatted without a chip, does it have anything to do with it to connect via usb? I've formatted it again and it didn't solve anything. The options do not appear on the device at all to quit charging and every time, regardless of the moment I connect it to usb, the message of not recognized appears. what should I do ?
Using usbdeview the information obtained is:
Another detail, the cell phone does not open option other than to load, even the debug mode is activated. It connects to Windows, the aforementioned error appears, and the device starts to load without any option on the cell phone to change to connect to the pc by transferring files or anything.
