[APP] MW-PEN App Enabler - add more Pen Window Apps WITHOUT ROOT - Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

Hi All NON-ROOTED Note 3 users:
If you are like me who's still hesitant to ROOT your phone for whatever reason, then this app will help to add more Pen Window apps without needing ROOT.
MW-PEN App Enabler is my attempt to automate the process of inserting the necessary meta-data to any apps' AndroidManifest.xml to be recognized as a pen/multi window app by Samsung's multiwindow framework right within your phone without needing a PC/laptop and having to learn to use apktool/apk manager/apk multi-tool, etc.
This app implements the manual tutorial I made a couple of months ago about how to enable apps for pen window without root. As most newbies are not quite comfortable using apktool to decompile/recompile apks, I made it a challenge to find a way to simplify the process right within the phone and this app is the result of lots of sleepless nights.
DOWNLOAD: See post attachments below...
The xda version below enables pen window apps (no limit) but the one on the Play Store enables both pen and multiwindow as well as multiple instances of the same app (dependent on whether app can support multiple instances).
HOW TO USE:
1. Pick apk file from sdcard (if you have a backup of the app) or pick from installed apps (system apps not possible).
2. Click Process... (the bigger the app, the longer it takes to process).
3. If target app is installed, the enabler app will prompt you to uninstall it first. (if you have important data, please make a backup first)
4. Finally, Install the processed app.
That's it. Easy peasy.
LIMITATIONS:
There is no way to enable system apps or apps that are already included in the rom like Youtube, Play Store, etc. Enabled apps can not be updated. To update, you need to uninstall the target app, install the updated version and then run it through the MW-Pen App Enabler app again. Not all apps are pen window or multiwindow friendly, so please don't enable every app you have. Some apps work, some don't.

Are paid apps system apps?
I bought this to make XDA Premium [HD] to work in multiwindow (since no support from developer, didn't even reply my email) but when I choose: Installed App --> XDA Premium [HD] --> error that MW-PEN App Enabled has stopped (Or how ever it's told in english)
Haven't go time to test for other apps.
Offtopic?
You have done good apps for penwindow / multiwindow and even air command.
Is it possible to make PEN Window Launcher like app for multiwindow bar. I really like penwindow launcher and would love if same way from shortcut at homescreen could enable multiwindow bar. I don't like to keep that ugly arrow thing on my screen so every time I in purpose want two apps to one screen, I have to keep back button held and it's just not good
I hope you got what I tried to tell you

awesome job...works like a charm!

Very good thx, when multi Windows option will be available?

I tried enabling XDA Premium HD app through the enabler app and it is working great so far. As the XDA Premium HD is several MBs it would take longer to process.
As regards to your question about the multiwindow bar, do you mean a shortcut to open and close the multiwindow bar without having to long press the back key? If that is what you mean then I will try to explore if it is possible. I did not think that someone would be interested in such functionality but I'll see what I can do.

Just bought the app, now multi Windows work, I still can update the modified apps on play store normally?

Read OP, you'll figure it out.
To OP: yes you got me right, I use Nova launcher and on my "apps" icon I got swipe function to open penwindow. I'd like to enable same way mw bar, swiping an icon (or straight icon push) to open multiwindow instead of holding down back button
Edit: Oh my god, I pay spotify 9.99€ a month and they'll not able to give me penwindow and multiwindow support. APK-Multi-Tool couldn't compile spotify apk so no use of it and you give me simply method to make it happen just for ~1.5€ on the fly straight from phone.
Thank you,! This is one of those "must have" apps, couldn't live without it anymore (as long as my phone is non-rooted, lol)

Issue with apps
Hi,
I purchased this app on the play store and it works fine. Thank you for your work.
I was thinking about rooting my phone just to be able to have this work!
It mainly works on the apps I needed but I have one that crash following the uninstall/install. The app that crashes is 6play (French catch up TV).
Do you have any solution?
Thanks

As I said in the app description, not all apps are multiwindow/penwindow friendly. It is due to how the app has been designed to work and there is nothing I can do to make all apps work unless the app developer himself will add the functionality to his app.

As you requested, below is the App to open/close the MultiWindow Tray without having to long-press the back button. Should also work on other samsung devices with multiwindow feature like Note N7000, etc. It is best used with some gesture apps. I am not sure if many will be interested in using it but feel free to open a thread for it or share it. I also included a Recent apps shortcut for those who may find it useful.

[APP 4.1+] Button Savior Non Root V2 - Major update

========NOTE TO SAMSUNG USERS===========
To solve Talk back problem, please go to Settings/Application Manager/All and disable Disabling the Google TTS and Samsung TTS
===================================
Ever since my first release of Button Savior to Playstore, I can get almost 1-5 mails everyday from users questioning me why it doesn't work on their devices simply because they don't know what 'Root' is. Able to run Button Savior without root has then always been my first priority to do. Good news is since the introduction of Android 4.1, there is new APIs that allow me to develop Button Savior to run on regular, unroot, devices. So finally I can make a version for everyone who are not tech savvy. NOTE: For those who are already using Button Savior (root) on 4.1 and newer, you can install this version and uninstall the original one.
Button Savior is an Android system keys simulation app that allows user to mimic action of Back, Home, and Recent Task keys on screen. If you have a phone with broken hardware button, or you simply just want to get rid of the bottom system Bar to unleash more screen estate, Button Savior is for you to do that.
Button Savior (Non Root) is based on existing code of Button Savior (Root). So all themes and features are kept in this version too minus support of Search and Menu keys because they are not necessary in 4.1.
[Features in this version 2]
☆ (NEW) PopControl that allows you to add favourite action and use instantly.
☆ (NEW) Hover control supported for automatic Software Button visibility control with mouse or Samsung S-Pen
☆ (NEW) Free floatable trigger icon
☆ (NEW) Swipe to show Button Savior panel from both sides
☆ Simulates 'Home' 'Back' 'Recent Task' 'Screen Off' 'Volume' 'Camera' and 'Call' buttons
☆ Can set to always open or auto hide based on user customizable timer
☆ Two types of trigger action to choose from (Gesture trigger and Click trigger)
☆ Added Camera key and Call key simulation
☆ Customizable trigger position
☆ Also provides themese to support e-ink display
☆ Can change it to one click mode for super fast button action in option
☆ Can create shortcut action such as call someone or go to bookmark on Call or Camera keys. (With PRO)

Hi,
Did you toggle the switch to ON position? I developed this on my Nexus 7. So not sure how it looks like on G3. But I tried it on Galaxy Nexus. The position of toggle switch is not obvious. It is at top right corner when you select Button Savior in accessibility as illustrated in one of the pic in instruction.

Hi,
I tested on Note2 not on GS3 becasue her GS3 runs on 4.0.4. But everything things fine except the main app window seems not recognize accessibility status. Other than that, I can still click on button to get desired action. However, I have updated a test version on my attachment (SWkey_nonroot52_gs3.apk) . Can you help me to try it? I changed accessibility detection a bit and hope this one will work.
Great work-around
The new GS3 version does indeed allow the home button of Button Savior to work without it shooting back into the app options to turn on accessibility. It still doesn't seem to detect it if you manually open up the apps menu though. What I mean is when you open up Button Savior's internal menu options, the first thing it does is popup telling you to change accessibility options, but it won't do that anymore while using the actual app.
EDIT: Basically... exactly what you said happened with that Note2. The app works flawlessly.

Yes, to both. The running app is perfect. Every button function works on this latest build with the GS3 now.
Just updated the Playstore version to 1.1 and attachment SWKey_nonroot53.apk with following changes. Thanks for people who have helped me to test.
(1) Fixed issue on GS3 an Note2
(2) Changed number of button option to Max 7 buttons
Note: If you are still seeing accessibility warning dialog popup in main app screen while it is actually turned on, please let me know. I only have Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 on hand. So can't easily see the root cause of this issue. Thanks for helping in advanced.

[APP][4.1+] Notifyer Unread Count

Notification Access
Notifyer is now able to use Android's Notification Listener Service (Android 4.4+) to provide a more accurate unread count for the majority of apps. Choose between Notification Access or Accessibility in the count behaviour options for each widget. Accessibility may still work better for certain apps.
Beta Testing
Notification access is now available in the beta channel and provides a much enhanced experience. Any help to test out this crucial new feature will allow me to get it released and then to move on to some nice new features and improvements! Notifyer now also uses Material theming and provides better adjustment options to correctly align Notifyer widgets.
PM me if you're interested in beta testing.
Thanks

Notifyer
Hi everyone, here's my app Notifyer. Provides a notification bubble over your app icons like on iOS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.cornwall_solutions.notifyer
Notifyer runs as a Notification Listener Service and/or as an Accessibility Service, you just replace your regular app icons with 1x1 Notifyer widgets and then choose which app to monitor. Settings are provided to adjust for alignment, size etc to blend in with your launcher.
Cheers guys, let me know what you think.

Oh man I havent heard of either of these problems before. But that's good I want to get everything sorted.
The widget should just show up in your widget list as normal, I've attached a pic of what it looks like on my phone but it will vary depending on your phone and launcher. If it's not there then maybe restart the phone and if that doesnt work then uninstall and reinstall.
As for the boot loop I have no idea what could be causing that. Do you have any other accessibility services enabled besides Notifyer?

They should just occupy a single square in the grid on your homescreen the same as a regular icon. If you open Notifyer and go into the settings then you can play around with the icon size, text size and a few other things to get it looking how you want it.

App title cut of with Nova
Hi,
I am using Nova Launcher on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with android 4.3 (SuperNexus 3.0). With Nova settings I changed the desktop raster to 6 rows, 5 columns.
With this settings, the name below the icon is not completely visible. Look at the screenshot to the "NOS Teletekst" app.
The first icon is a "normal" shortcut, the second a Notifyer widget with size 1X1, the third a Notifyer widget with size 1x2.
I hope you can fix it. Now I have to set the icon size to 90% to keep the app name, but then the icons are smaller than the standard icons.
Edit: adding a screenshot is not allowed. I have not posted enough until now.
Is there a moderator who can help me?

Hi Vlad, thanks for purchasing Notifyer. I have just emailed you with a solution that I think will work. Here it is for the benefit of everyone else too.
To fix this problem you need to open the Notifyer+ app, then click on your Phone widget, then click Alternate App Notifications. Here you will see a list of all the apps on your phone including some system apps. You need to look down this list until you see an item in the list where the second line of text says "com.android.phone". There will be several system apps that have this as the second line of text, it doesn't matter which one you select.
This problem came up in one of the recent Android updates and I haven't had the chance to update the app to fix it yet. But luckily the Alternate App Notifications setting can be used to work around it. I think they must have changed one of the package names relating to the contacts app which has a knock on effect with Notifyer and the way it maps missed calls to your Notifyer widgets.
Hope that helps, Cheers!

Hi Callum, good question and it's something I've looked into in quite some depth. The main problem is that the notification listener service is good for displaying individual notifications, but it doesn't particularly lend itself to counting notifications.
Think of a messaging app like Whatsapp for example. When you receive a new message the notification listener will tell you. When you receive a second message without having read the first one Whatsapp will replace its existing notification with one that tells you that you have two unread notifications but there is still only one active notification. Notifyer doesn't actually know how many messages are there, it can't read the notification and it cant see into Whatsapp to find out, but it can count each time a notification arrives. Now imagine that you go into Whatsapp and read one of your two new messages. Now Whatsapp will update its existing notification to say that you have one new message. Notifyer can see that the notification has been modified but the problem is that Notifyer doesn't know how much the count should go down by (how many messages you actually opened). At the moment it just works by resetting the count to zero whenever you close down that particular app, which is possible with accessibility services but not the notification listener (accessibility services can see other things than notifications such as what app is currently occupying the screen).
That's just one example but bear in mind that in top of that, different Android apps work in massively different ways when it comes to notifications and unfortunately the notification listener service just does provide all information needed for Notifyer to figure an accurate count.
Hope that explains it, I know it seems crazy not to be using it for an app like this and I was slightly disappointed when I realised that it wasn't going to work.
Cheers,
Tom

[APP]QSlide on the LG G2: A quick way to access frequently-used tools

Simple access to functions that usually sit in a 'tools' folder on your home screen
LG is using the G2 as a platform*for launching many new software features, one of which is QSlide — a new way to use small utility apps quickly without pulling you away from whatever else you're doing. Not to be confused with "Slide Aside" (that's a full-app multitasking feature), QSlide is a collection of apps launched from the notification shade that pop up over your current activity so you can multitask in a different way.
Simply pull down the notification shade and tap one of the handful of available options under the quick settings: Richnote, Videos, Email, Phone, Voice Mate, File Manager, Calendar or Calculator. A small windowed app will pop up without exiting your current app, letting you quickly get a task done and go back to the first. If you need to reference something else while you have a QSlide app open, just use the slider at the top of the window to change the transparency.
Once you've set the app to be transparent, you can interact with anything that is "underneath" it just as if it wasn't there. Go copy text, reference a web page or whatever else and then come back to your Richnote or Calculator entry. The apps can also be expanded to a full screen with just one tap. QSlide is an interesting feature that can save you from having a "tools' folder on your home screen for these common functions. Hang tight after the break for a video walkthrough of using QSlide on the LG G2.

This might sound strange but qslide is easily the most disappointing feature ive encountered so far. The fact that you can only use the ****tier LG versions of Google apps is a travesty. I only use the gmail client for multiple reasons, same with Google calendar. But alas LG decided to make their most powerful phone gimped by simple software limitations. I hope someone can hack a qslide app that would allow us to add non LG apps.

Completely agree! It uses up too much space when I can only use the phone and calculator. And you can't totally get rid of it either. I'd love the function if at least gmail and google calendar were options.

Qslide does have a toggle switch with the rest of the toggles. It removes the row of apps below the toggle row in the pull down.

There is actually a buid.prop line that sets the amount of apps you can open in qslide. Let me edit it and I'll report back
The line in the build prop you can edit is the following:
ro.lge.qslide.max.window=2 (2 is the default)
I changed it to 3 and this is the result

In your notification pull down, at the top, is your row of toggle buttons. Below that is the row of qslide apps. There is a qslide toggle button that will add or remove the row of qslide apps. The qslide toggle should be with the rest of the toggles, unless you edited the toggles and removed it. I've attached a picture to show the qslide button at the top.

Only difference I see between the Verizon and Tmo variants is that one says Memo (Tmo) and the Verizon version calls it "Rich Note" (I removed Voice Mate from my phone completely)
EDIT: I also see Verizon has no Calendar OR Browser in their qslide app.
But, I know Verizon doesn't have the Browser app. Theirs comes with Chrome. Which I wager to bet it's because the Browser has flash enabled and that eats up data QUICK (Hey I've watch some pay per views on one of my favorite streaming site from my phone a couple of times)

[APP][TUT] Google Dialer in Moto X

GOOGLE DIALER
Google's Dialer With Built-in Search Is Exclusive To Nexus And GPE Devices, But You Can Install It Manually On Other KitKat ROMs
DO AT YOUR OWN RISK! THE XDA-DEVELOPERS FORUM AND I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE!
Of all the announced*new features of the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4/KiKat, one of the cooler ones was a new dialer colloquially known as the "KitKat dialer." It features a revamped UI and includes the ability to search for businesses, contacts, etc. right from inside the dialer. It also features*internet-based caller ID. The name "KitKat dialer," however, is not entirely accurate.
Background:
Google Dialer (its official name) is not technically part of KitKat because it is not included in AOSP. It is a closed-source alternative to the regular AOSP dialer, much in the way that Google Play Music replaces the AOSP music app and Chrome replaces the AOSP browser. The name "KitKat dialer" refers to the fact that Google launched it on the Nexus 5, which was KitKat's launch device.

Unlike one of the other new apps introduced alongside KitKat, the Google Experience Launcher -*which is a Nexus 5 exclusive*- Google actually saw fit to release its revamped dialer application to other Nexus and Google Play Edition phones. Unfortunately, outside of that universe the dialer is unavailable, at least officially. At some time down the road, Google could easily decide to offer it through the Play Store but there's no indication of that happening in the foreseeable future. Until that day arrives, you can install it manually.
Installation Procedure:
Before beginning, you must be rooted and running either an official or custom KitKat ROM on your phone. Google Dialer will not install on any version of Android prior to 4.4.
Download either the APK file or the flashable ZIP file using the links at the bottom of this post. The APK was pulled directly from a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.2.Flash the ZIP file in a custom recovery, or copy the APK file directly into /system/priv-app.If you opted to move the APK file manually, you'll need to set the permissions on the APK to 644 after moving it into its proper folder. Do this either through your file manager app or via a shell.Reboot your phone.
Possible Problems And Questions:
During tests on various phones and settings, found some issues that are worth mentioning, and some questions that some of you will probably have.
Can this be installed without root?
This question can only be answered with another question. Do you want to be able to make calls? While yes, the app can be installed without root, it requires permissions that are only available to apps that are signed with a platform key or installed in /system/priv-app. What that means in practical terms is that if you install the app without root, the actual searching function will work, but you will not be able to make calls.
I installed the app but the icon doesn't show up in my app. What can I do?
If this happens on your phone, the only solution we found was to use Nova Launcher because it has a feature that allows you to run a specific activity within an app. To set this up:
01-Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.
02-Choose "Shortcuts"
03-Select "Activities"
04-Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
This will put a shortcut to the dialer on your home screen. At this stage, you can use this to access Google Dialer. It's not the cleanest solution, but it does work.
Can I disable my default dialer?
The short answer is no. As a general rule, you will need to keep your present dialer enabled in order to receive calls. The long answer is that on some phones you might be able to disable your stock dialer, but on others you definitely cannot. Feel free to try it on your own device and let us know what your results are.
Download:
Here are both a flashable ZIP file as well as the lone APK file. If you want to flash in recovery, use the ZIP file. If old-school is more your thing, download the APK and put it in /system/priv-app manually.

Xposed / Gravity Box (KK) is able to do that.
I have my status bar in a nice green-themed color, and I just LOVE having network upload/download speeds in the status bar itself....

So if your leaving the original dialer in place this means incoming calls will not get the benefit of the google dialer caller id... correct?

NO NO didnt mean to sound like I was complaining was simply trying to outline what it could and could not do in this configuration. The search feature that lets you find local places in the dialer works great and getting rid of that ugly themed 443 dialer are huge plusses all by themselves

The same way you would make any app your default SMS app. Two ways:
1. Open app click on 'Settings' in menu and then click the preference at the top that says "SMS Disabled"
2. Go to device settings, 'Wireless & Networks' > 'More...' > Default SMS App

Just 2 requests for this awesome app pleaseee!!
1. Android Wear support.
2. Please add support for MMS over JUST WiFi (no data needed), Sprint and T-Mobile support this and the Dev of 8sms has it implemented perfectly!
I can test both for you also if you'd like :good:
Just wanted to say, love the app. Finally a messaging app that is simple, clean and quick. I really prefer the default messenger but hated the contact pictures that Android forces. Glad to see them taken out.
Keep up the good work.
Can you add the blue theme that was in the playstore app ? and the possibility to disable android stock green emoticone, they're so much anoying and i think that most of people prefer ascii smiley and emoji (that already included )
Please add an option to have NO SLIDING at all. And please add translucent statusbar color and round text bubbles?
Great app! Looks and works excellent. If I may make 1 suggestion, can the action bar (create new message, settings) be moved to the bottom of the app screen? Its easier to reach with my thumb when I'm on the go. I've seen other MMS apps using it that way so I hope its possible. Thanks.
Please include more options for MMS like auto save images and auto-enable data from mobile networks. I can't use this app since I can't automatically receive MMS. I think the only app that have such options is textra, and thats what I use.

When someone send me a MMS I got to have my mobile data (3g/4g/LTE ) activated to receive immediately that MMS, or else, only when I enable mobile data I will receive it.
I have tested with a lot of SMS apps and textra was the only one that have that option for MMS: turn mobile data on ( for automatically turn it on, receive MMS, and turn it off).

Ah gotcha. So you leave your mobile data off normally and would have the app turn it on just to download the MMS then back off again. That should be fairly easy to do.
