Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM dev that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't (or don't want), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Octo-Kat

A Note about the Team OctOs GApps
We in Team OctOs believe in choices. We believe in leaving the fundamental decisions about your phone to you.
In that spirit, Team OctOs gives you options for your GApps experiences. While any ODEX'ed GApps package should work, we offer you the choice of using some of the same GApps packages that we use ourselves, and leave the choice up to you.
You can find our Team OctOs GApps packages here, and break down into the following types:
GPe - Google Experience
Regular GPe GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced GPe GApps
AOSP
AOSP GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced AOSP GApps
The Dalvik-Enhanced packages are NOT ART compatible. If you plan to run ART, don't use those.

While we are certainly not requiring donations or money. But donations of money or devices will certainly speed along development. We plan to purchase and build 3 identical servers to be able to handle the work load of building our ROMs. Hosting, Electricity, and Parts alone are out of pocket at this point. But we love what we do. So, if you feel led to send us a device(even old ones you've moved on from, or new ones) or small donations towards our server project we'd be extremely appreciative. Contact @Dubbsy for device donations. He will make sure they get to each team member as needed. Thanks to all the users who make it feel like we are doing something that people enjoy!

Just saying hello. We are here to be different and to tell noobs what they need to hear.
Our mission statement is REAL AOSP(not CM)+GPE+OctSettings = Team-OctOS.
Enjoy the ROM. We as a team are ever expanding and are working on adding more devices daily. Treken and I are normally nose deep in code. So don't expect us to be around non stop.
Just tried flashing with the latest twrp and it failed.
Just got it running. Looks pretty nice. One feature request. Would it be possible to use the aokp nav bar vs. The cm navbar? I'm asking because I like to add a few custom apps to the nav bar (eg phone, hangouts) so I don't need to use launcher space for them.
Thank you for the build, much appreciated. Its always good to see new ROMs for a device.
---------- Post added at 08:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:10 AM ----------
@Calvin check to see if signatures are needed on twrp under twrp advanced settings. I had that issue with omnirom. My first boot didn't get past the Samsung logo, but rebooting started right up.

We don't use CM's Trebuchet launcher. We use aosp but our gapps replaces with Google launcher. Sometimes I use Nova which is free and has many options as a free alternative.

So far so good. I used PHilZ recovery to flash and no issues, just flashed the ROM and Gapps, said no to root the device and then let sit. i then setup my account and then rebooted and flashed the 1.86 SU update zip in recovery and all is working well. I like the cleanliness of having the mods all under dev settings. Using KT's kernel (just because I'm used to it) and his settings. Good to see a nice AOSP rom over here. I might need to read up some on davlik optomized apps. Great work and thanks for sharing your work
No joy with attempts to download.

Us cellular and Sprint the only files showing on the site? Maybe they are uploading new ones. The ROM ran smooth just didn't care for the gapps missing the messaging app, I don't care for using hangouts for messaging.

Messaging app is still packed with the ROM, hangouts gives you the option of using it, but you can turn it off.
The builds are coming. We had some updates to include and I'm writing thru the build outs now. They'll be up once as they complete.

Appreciate the explanation of what's going on. The reason I said that about the messaging is because I never saw a messaging app icon in the drawer. I did see two phone icons? I will probably wait until the new release b4 I flash again. I really loved the ROM it was butta, and that's a fact Jack.

Two phone icons is because GPe gapps has the Google dialer. Need to keep the original dialer or it doesn't work.
As for the messaging app, you're right. Dubbsy may have removed it, I'll ask him

I am really digging the rom with the clean look and especially what the other person mentioned about all of the options being in the development menu. It really gives it that stock feel. I am so excited about Octo now that I have fire up the old Kubuntu side and am Repo syncing right now . Keep up the great work and of course my next stop is rating the thread.

You need to set up your build environment. Then you should look at our source, especially "platform_manifest". We should have a new build up tonight or tomorrow morning. Everyone has been uber busy on our team.
I set a build environment up and have a slow machine was about done and accidentally exited the terminal window . Anywho I was using your source I love github Anything I can do to help your team. Love your ROM and concept and even the logo

This ROM is based on the Android Open Kang Project (AOKP). The idea to start a ROM based off AOKP with added features for us was started out of curiosity and boredom. We started compiling ROMs for personal use and later started sharing them. After sharing it with a few people, we decided to take it a step further and fine tune the way we do things. Since then, is been nothing but fun and a true learning experience for all of us involved. We've received high praise from not only users but fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. Our 4.2.2 version made it onto various devices to include the HTC One, Galaxy Nexus, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO LTE, Nexus 4 and some other devices. We hope to do the same with our 4.3 version.
"Give credit and thanks where is due!" That's something that has fuel the way we do things! With that said, we would like to go ahead and credit those individuals and groups that have made this ROM possible with their original code and contributions to the Android community.....

NOTES:
Kernel Tweaker!
This is a fairly full featured app in Settings. Fully configure all aspects of the kernel
(except for UV for some known reason). Worth doing this. Set what you know, then set but leave default settings on what you don't know about. Doing so will allow the highest cpu GHz, the lowest battery = best performance and very stable.
KT is also a great ROM/update/gapps flasher. Right from the rom.
Regarding wakelocks and the ability to control them now.
I recommend you look into these and which ones you can disable.
If you do put in the time to search and ask some questions here, your battery will love you!
Heres a head start ===> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827676
What's Next.....?
Camera is still a challenge. I put in "A Better Camera App"
and a PlatStore version of the ICS Cam. Bothe of these will give you
HD 1080 res for both Cam and Camcorder.
NOTE!! While the ICS Cam is perfect given our vendor blobs,
it comes with ads!!! Please, enable the ad blocker in
"settings/DirtyTweaks/Misc. Tweaks"
Use it first or make it your default for seamless rom integration
Also. Because of the huge amount of feature here, you will not get a silky smooth
experience until you set all of the kernel, init.d tweaks and animation. My advice
is to 1) head to SU first and set it to what you want. 2) ad blocker as described above.
3) USE THE KERNEL TWEAKER in settings! It is no more or less then EXACTLY
what you need for this rom/kernel. Built by and for this rom. Using all default settings
is just fine but check ALL of the check boxes in there. It is built in so nothing will work better
BUT while it takes advantage of all the features in the kernel, it UNSETS the built in defaults
of the kernel on boot so it can work. (some settings may appear or disappear depending on what you select. ex. Performence- nothing there. BadAss- This sexy Gov., is tweakable and has settings.
- Gestures!
- Device specific features - AKA Advanced settings (sensors, touch sense etc...)
- LCD Density to ROMControl
',
'-> workaround:
For the dpi, assuming you have signed into playstore already,
is to go settings/apps and wipe data for playstore. In root explorer
go system/build.prop, open to edit with read/write and scroll down to
density and change the 200 to what you want. 240 is stock.
Save it and reboot, sign back into playstore.
Alternatively, ROMToolbox has a build.prop mod function.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox
-Lock Screen cLock/weather
To allow the time/date/weather/calendar...etc to show up customized,
set up cLock as usual in ROMControl and push power to turn off display.
Push again and swipe down the clock borders below the clock digits to
extend the lock screen carousel. Swipe to the right and tap the plus
sign to add a new widget. Add cLock. Swipe to the left and long press
the original clock then drag to the top and delete.
The new customized cLock should settle into place.
Thanks for bringing another Rom to this great phone!

I have to thank @ktempleton for bringing me in on this rom. This wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for him so peeps should pass some his way too.
This ROM will be everybody's DD. Damn, like KT says, 'It will take people 2 weeks just to learn the rom". Meaning, there is just so much functionality!
For those that know me from BeanStalk, know that I, at the very least, try hard to keep up with users, questions, features, kernels, source updates etc...
This ROM comes tight. You won't see a ton of updates. (ie: every other day) Updates will come with version updates only. (Unless something crazy happens)
I will keep the same tone in here tho. That's another thing people from BeanStalk will know about. NO CRAP! lol I understand what it was like to be new and how intimidating this all can be.
Searching first is ALWAYS advised just so nobody looks foolish but if you need to know something ROM specific, just ask. Everybody will be respectful in here and help out if I don't see it right away.
I always say. There is no need for anybody to be in trouble. I'm available.

I will also say it's been a long time since I've been hoping for an MD5 match. lol I've been looking at this on other devices for a while and am glad you compiled it for the Rocket. I would thank you but I just burned my 8 for the day thanking you in the Bean thread. Solid work man solid.
Woah! Feature packed holy....quick question about "active notification" is it just dynamic notifications from play store or what did you do? That app is giving me some issues so if it's baked in real well like on the actual moto x, that'd be AWESOME. Thanks again

Thank you very much for your input kiltnar. You're definitely one of the most respected posters around these parts with all the work you do for this community. Although its not your ROM it is still refreshing and puts some worries at ease about flashing this. Thanks!

I'm still a user like you guys. Still trying to find that balance of features and stability that I'm really looking for. L0k3n was looking to keep a rom going that he liked and has done a great job. Looking forward to more work from him. Make sure you spank his thanks button guys. Welcome a new Dev to the community.

So everything is running great. I love the rom. HOWEVER! One thing that I haven't been able to tackle yet is that is not sleeping for me.
"PowerManagerService.Wakelocks" is keeping it up 24/7. I have no idea what this is. Granted, I woke up checked BBS and now got to work so I haven't had too much time to google it up but I thought I would post here if anyone has any suggestions.
Thanks!
Edit: Oh and I'm sorry but the boot animation is just god awful . No biggy at all. Easy to change. Just saying haha
2nd Edit: Flashed Uber Kernel and it's sleeping like a baby. PowerManagerService.Wakelocks is still there obviously but not nearly as high as it was. Also, I was getting wlan_rx_wake. Since flashing Uber, it's gone. Weird (maybe not, I know nothing about kernels). Anyways, that's all. If anyone still has any comments regarding the power manager wakelock it'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

PowerManagerService.Wakelocks is a container for everything under Partial Wakelocks, so you would have to look under there for the app that is causing the program.

Thank you for the reply.
I had read that in my google searches. But it just doesn't seem right. I'm not doubting you in any way, it just doesn't make sense.
Example: right now its at roughly say 2min 30 secs. Under partial the highest wakelock is RILJ and bluetooth at a whopping 20 secs and and 10 seconds. After that I have a couple others that are 1s and 3 secs. I don't even hit the 40s mark collectively.
Regardless everything is running fantastic. Even my bluetooth doesn't cut out anymore. Really amazing work!
I having issues getting this rom to boot.
I tried using the 1/25 build that's posted here and the PA gapps. I tried the full gapps, but that was apparently too big for the Skyrocket system partition, so I ended up using the Modular-Mini gapps. I double checked the MD5 hashes and they apparently mach. The two zips flash without issue, but as soon as I go to boot it up, I get a black screen and then a quick vibrate and i see the SAMSUNG logo. After which it sits at a black screen.
The first time around I tried using TWRP, but that recovery is apparently incompatible. I did a little research and found CM11 roms should be flashed using CWM. I flashed PhilZ's Touch CWM for CM11 and tried flashing again and I still can't get the ROM to boot. I'm pretty sure I followed the directions correctly. What am I missing here?
edit: I just noticed it does finally boot in. However, I'm seeing artifacting and corruption to the point where everything is barely recognizable. If I would venture a guess, I think my refresh rate is off? I've never seen anything like this... I can definitely interact with it, I was able to get it to reboot using the power menu.

this is happening to quite a few people on newer 4.4 roms, regardless of recovery or wipe routine used. The only "new" ROM I got to boot is the brand new 1/27 hellkat. Not sure what the cause is but hopefully the latest CM merge(s) will rectify this issue..can't wait to try this rom!!

i am proud to present to you beanstalk builds i have made for sgs4g. This is a build composed off of the cm11.0 builds and i have added alot of features on top of it and all features from scotthartbti's original rollout. So you get speed, stability, and ultra customization ability. Many of the additional code additions came from slim rom and also derteufels build and have been modified to work with my current setup. A huge thanks to derteufel and the slim rom guys for their work and dedication. Also a big thanks to everyone involved with cm as that is the building stone in this project. Thanks to skyliner33v for the bootanimation and upcoming wallpapers!
I plan on updating this and adding features on a pretty regular basis, so if you happen to like this, keep checking back.

the option of custom Set Wallpaper in custom backgroung type the lockscreen is not working. Nothing happens when selecting the option.
I uploaded a new userdebug build for 05/14. Its on goo.im in the link in the 4th post
This build should be even faster, smoother, with bug fixes... Enjoy

If anyone still gets that keyguard lock delay... I think i found an app that fixes it. Search google play for sdfix. Its first one. Allows the permission to write to system sdcard file lots like in 4.3 and before. Usually goes away after or is reduced a lot. Reboot after. 0514 rox i think. Kernel makes it much faster. Gonnna try an eng build
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
Theres a 05/17 userdebug build up and an eng build 05/17 with -eng at end of filename. Not much of difference i thought id make both though.

I deleted 05 17 eng cuz of the red box. But 0517 userdebug is up. Enjoy

There are some problems with another dev and him not having the juice to confront me. Instead bothering others that use the same resource. Because of this I may need to find a different box to build from if anyone is willing to host a 64bit box. I like beanstalk.... I like building and helping the community. I was working on 3 other ROMs including omnirom. As of now beanstalk is way faster then slimsaber and aokp. I hope I don't have to vault development because of someone's misguided delusions

I see that you say this rom is faster then slimsaber. The real question is how s the battery life. With slimsaber I can listen to music all day at construction that's 7a.m. to 7.pm and still have 60% battery life.
And a big thankyou for all you done

Lack of future awesomeness. Since your build is a year and a half into the future, might I ask if the battery now lasts 3 weeks on a charge?
If instead your build is actually from 2013, not 2015, then your basic improvements will be fully functional GPS and some benefits like that.
But I'm hoping that you're actually a time traveller that has somehow fallen on hard times and that you're trying to sell your future knowledge.

Yep...I borrowed the time machine from Stewie (the kid on Family Guy).
Meant 2013, of course...and I already have functioning GPS...applied the fix some months ago...working fine. Any other advantages to upgrading to the newer build?

Are the 5/18 build and 5/21 build the same? Both are the exact same size. I was just wondering cause I didn't want to dirty flash for no reason. Love the rom, my old 959v kicks way more ass headphone audio wise than my Nexus 5. Still use this phone as a WiFi device/MP3 player for the gym and as a backup phone. Gotta love Wolfson DAC+Voodoo Sound. Thanks again.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
None of the releases are the same or exact same size. While the size difference is small.. There are bug fixes in every release because when I build and do repo sync it downloads any updates from cyanogenmod or slimroms or beanstalk repos. There was at least 8 commits in mauly 22nd release. I would download zip weekly unless I state that u should flash it. Build 22 is in post 3 and is solid. Uploading an eng build soon
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Free mobile app
And yea bro the audio on headphones is amazing. Some of the latest commits were for Bluetooth so
When flashing the newer build from an older build, is it necessary to one-click back to stock and go from there or can I just do a full wipe and flash the ROM?
You dont have to go back to stock once u flash cm7 or higher. Once you are on mtd you are good. So you can just flash over your current rom of beanstalk.. You can factory reset and flash.. You can delete system and flash. With the updates being minor you can safely just flash over previous rom. Although i normally factory reset and del system. Choice is yours but flashing back to stock is not necessary

Wi-Fi perfomance
What about wi-fi perfomance? I used my phone a lot with wi-fi network and I want to now if this ROM have a weak wi-fi reception (like cm10.1).

AICPAndroid Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as Ice Cold Project that started on Desire HD and since then evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them or CM team if it concerns their modifications. This rom isn't CM supported so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!

Front Camera - Please check Post No 3 as a temp workaround...
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Lollipop. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
Droidriven said:
You have to have bootloader unlocked to flash any custom recovery or custom ROM.
Devices with locked bootloader that can't be unlocked can only use Safestrap recovery and modified stock ROMs,
those devices can't even attempt to flash custom recovery or custom ROMs because it only BRIKS those devices.

Don't do it if you don't know it
ROM has gapps persistance in between dirty flashes
KERNEL:
Kernel in this rom follows CM source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash over OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
Check here for latest F2FS compatible recovery by @invisiblek: http://www.invisiblek.org/twrp/
You can still use CWM and OTA app, but only to download zip file and flash it manually from within recovery. Zip gets saved under AICP_ota folder on your internal SDcard.

Wow... The s3 must be dead... A new rom and no one has replied yet... So I guess I will take the plunge and try this badboy out... Thanks for this! Hope it runs as good as it sounds....
ill give it a shot since i have to ride my s3 til the summer
yeeeeeeboi. best rom yet!!!
camera still failed as usual.
Testing
Testing right now! Will update when done booting. :fingers-crossed:
NO NO NO! That was my Luke Skywalker impression when he found out Vader was his Father..
Anyway, I certainly hope the s3 ain't dead. Altogether I know it isn't dead. As for myself, I've used two different versions of this rom so far, and so far it's been my favorite. I haven't tried slim one of my old fav's because of the lack of or newly implemented theming system that I'm not certain I'm ready for at the moment. RRO Overlays or whatever it's called. I've done some reading on it but need to study it more to let the details soak in.
All in all this rom has worked great for me. Very smooth, I was running the DKP lollipop kernel so I can't comment on the built in kernel, but with my settings at 216-1728 and gov tierservative, the rom was smooth as silk and not to bad on the battery. I did enable the battery saver a time or two just to see what happens but I've got to do more testing first.
Right now, I'm torn between this and running my old KitKat favorite, which I've made a nandroid of, I didn't reformat the internal sd and should, but again, no issues either way. The only thing keeping me personally from using it permanently are little things like mapping the home button on the lockscreen to turn on the flashlight. And I like being able to adjust the time it takes to end tasks with the back button, a feature I've only found in Nameless and MIUI. But again, so far so good here. I know more features will come as time progresses. I'd just hate to see it get overloaded with features that I personally don't use. Although many others might. Which is the reason we have so many choices. Well, not as many as we used to but people are working are and I for one really appreciate the work going into bringing lollipop to the s3 or d2vzw and I see it's available for other d2's as well.
Kudos to the dev's again for keeping my old phone cranking and for the bragging rights.. Oh you have a brand new s5 or note 4 or whatever, Well mine has lollipop.. see look.. Ha ha ha.. I'd like to have a new phone. A moto because it seems my old DX got slightly better signal here than my s3 both on stock roms and with the improvised RIL. I don't know if it's sammy in general and I don't know how locked down devices are nowadays, but I imagine it's only getting worse from what I've heard. I've left Big Red for Selectel so I'd have to buy a new phone outright, and that won't be happening for a while due to my layoff and lack of stable employment.
I've rambled enough as always, but thanks again for the sweet rom, I plan to try the newest 02-10 build tonight unless of course I check back later and see a newer one as dropped.
Hey guys. I noticed you built this on Linux. Can you link the threads with the tools and tutorials? Thank you

Stock camera should be fine while 3rd party apps doesn't work (like Google Camera).
Make sure that your GAPPS zip doesn't contain script to remove stock camera...
You may want to check here: https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/semdoc/AicpLP/GAPPS
does video work on the stock camera? thanks
Thanks, I'll give that a try. I used the vanilla CM12 GAPPS package. I have functionality right now by disabling the stock app and running High Speed Camera, similar to what their doing on Mastamoon's unofficial CM12 releases.

I don't see pie controls on the list of features nor do I see Nav ring and a few others, will we be seeing them, if you plan on adding more of the features I have come to rely on then I'd love to try this ROM, if these changes are coming anytime soon I'll wait for them to be added before I download and flash this. Any new features with LP that we didn't see in KK?
Dripped from the Tapa of my Liquidsmooth S3.
Fancy! I'll try this as soon as my slow downloads finish.
Give the devs some time man. They'll implement more features as other things are worked out. One thing at a time. We're very fortunate to have what we do

So far, almost everything works as expected. Been very stable. Camera works, but video does not. Reboot menu doesn't seem like it's been put in yet, and the custom home button function to "launch camera" doesn't work either. But those are very minor details that I'm sure will be worked out soon. Everything else is super smooth, no force closes, etc. Thanks for the great work!
I'm happy too. No weird reboots. Haven't tested camera, but i'm sure it's like all lollipop Roms. Like the ROM, I can't wait for it to be unofficial
I've had a weird reboot already, its only been about two hours since I flashed it, other than that I can't complain other than the fact that I installed the Google now launcher and the OK Google anywhere wasn't working until I downloaded and applied a theme(the free Blue next in cyan theme chooser).

To God be the glory, my AOKP Nougat project finally works!
This is not a dirty unicorn. This is the original unicorn, the AOKP. Now made out of nougat! With tons of settings from status bar tweaks to home button remaps, it's all here and ready to rumble! Hopefully more features will be added as the AOKP team integrates the changes to the source.

Gapps link:

-Which I personally tested Pico. Be sure to choose "Arm" and "7.1".
This Rom has been stable for me, but is new, so be prepared for some little hic-ups here and there. Be sure to follow these installation steps very carefully, as they may be different then what you are used to.
!!!FIRST BOOT TAKES ABOUT 5 EARTH MINUTES TO COMPLETE!!!
Installation instructions:
-Follow this guide to get your phone onto the Developer aboot:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../testers-required-easier-root-method-t3561529
-Download ROM and gapps, and put them on your phone or external storage.
-Reboot into recovery mode - TWRP
-Backup what you had. (Just to be safe.)
-Wipe. (I personally wipe everything prior to flashing new roms, but at least do the basic wipe.)
-Install Rom.
-Install Gapps. - Optional
-Reboot to system and enjoy!
-OPTIONAL - After first boot, then go back to recovery and install the AKLU kernel.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/kernel-nougat-kernels-t3608886
I do not recommend installing superSU or Magisk on this ROM! SU permission is already built in, and superSU and Magisk have been causing problems with the rom. Please read the thread for further details.

What works:
So far everything that I have tried works, such as
- Camera for pictures and video!
- Phone calls/receiving
- Data 2g/3g/LTE
- Bluetooth
- WiFi
- PTP/MTP
- GPS
- Multi-Window, just long press the "recents" button.
etc....
What doesn't:
- The capacitive button back lighting does not work correctly. The buttons still work, just not the lighting.
- Automatic time zones cause problems, set time zone manually in date/time.
- Choosing to reboot the phone sometimes takes a loooong time. It may be better to Power off and then start the phone, which is faster for some reason.
- Let me know in the forums if you find other issues so I can work on fixing them.
This AOKP N ROM was built for the Verizon Galaxy S5 using modified LineageOS trees. I have not tried this on any other device, but you are welcome to try it AT YOUR OWN RISK. Chime in if it worked on your device.
A huge thanks to the Android Open Kang Project team!

All of my work is completely available for any who wish to use or modify it. I didn't make AOKP, the device trees, or vendor blobs. I simply used and edited existing material. A huge thanks should go to those who actually created this stuff.

Thanks:
A huge thanks goes out to @haggertk for his great work on the KLTE!
Notes:
Just a spot for some field notes about the ROM.
Background:
The awesome background was provided by The Quiet Learner, you can see more of his work here:
https://qlfiles.net/
You can also change the background using SWAGGER, to choose from several amazing AOKP backgrounds. Just long press the background as usual, and choose SWAGGER.
Multi-Window:
Open the app you want on top, then long press the recent button, then select the app you want on the bottom. Slide the slider up or down to choose full screen for the top or bottom app. Note: if in multi-window mode, pressing home goes to the home screen, but opening an app causes multi-window mode again with the last app you had open and the new app you chose.
OmniSwitcher:
You must enable OmniSwitcher to use it. There are choices for horizontal or vertical layouts, as well as the "handle" size and color. You can also enable the "menu" button, which may come in handy due to the long press of the recent button being used for multi-window.
@AlaskaLinuxUser AKLU kernel? i like testing kernels , can you tell me a little more details about that kernel , or is it the aokp-stock kernel? if not what features are included in it?.... great rom tho.
also is it possible for you to include a updated modem and firmware files in this rom (latest modems/firmware filles) i think the qd1 is the latest.

KazuDante,
The ROM comes with the stock kernel, but you can download the AKLU kernel from the kernel thread. I only just started on the kernel, so at present the AKLU kernel just includes the extra governors: Lionheart, smartmax, and Wheatley. I plan to do more updates next week, see the kernel thread for details.
As for the modem, this ROM does not include modem files. Whichever modem and baseband you have loaded is what you will have, I just happen to have QB2 on my phone, works great for me on straight talk. But if you are coming from QD1 then that is what you will have.
Hope that helps! And thanks for giving the ROM a try!

Hi, Great ROM thank you.
However the moment I install Google Play Services Framework, I lose the ability to use cellular data. APN settings are there, the LTE network is there in the quick menu, but not in the status bar. Wifi works fine.
I have installed each separately of GPStore, GPlogin, GPServices, and GPSFramework, and have narrowed it down to a GPSF issue. It doesn't matter if I install from Open GApps or individually using apk's from apkmirror.
I have tried putting exceptions in the data saver app even though I never turn it on, but no luck. It happens with all Nougat AOSP based ROMs, like lineage and CM as well.
Please help if you can, I really like this ROM.

off-subject forgot to say you have to divide the screen rgb values by 128 so that the custom profiles of kernel auditor can be applied. those max values should be around the 255 if divided by 128.

At first I was confused, but then I looked at KA, and you are correct! That's somewhat comical. However, your powers of observation are not only astute, but your persistence in determining the multiplicity of the matter is remarkable.

Thank you. I try to help in any way that I can , since a lot of users might use the kernel-auditor-MOD app ( which has a custom profile that punches up the colors and blacks(oled+black= more battery life, even tho its really small but better some then none right) ) , they might of pointed out that the profiles don't work and i got around testing your kernel today ( free time) and was looking at all aspects of it. Personally I'm waiting on the update that would include voltage control , and if possible even on the gpu itself. and since you are the first to included a different frequency for the CPU without increasing the voltage ( bravo ) I'm assuming that you might have plans to included more cpu and gpu frequencies compared to the 300-422-652-729-883-960-1036-1190-1267-1497-1574-1728-1958-2265-2457-2534-2611-2764-2841 frequencies that most if not all S5 users are customed to for a while. Adding in-between frequencies would be a great upgrade for the S5 but for the GPU I'm not so sure since even changing the gov of the GPU would crash/freeze the system.
So I am very excited to see what twists your kernel will bring.

Thanks for the reply. It's not ROM specific so not really your problem, just figured I'd see if you knew anything. If I freeze GPServices and GPSFramework, LTE pops right back up.
I have same problem in LineageOS 14.1 so there must be some kind of conflict with GPlay and nougat based AOSP ROMS on my phone. I'm on the PB1 bootloader if that means anything (found this ROM from your post on that thread). Only other possible difference from you is I'm on AT&T Mexico.
It's so weird because LTE symbol is shown next to the signal strength triangle icon in Quick settings but not in status bar, so it's like the phone is receiving the signal but refuses to use it.
Haha, nice the R&BW. :good:

Hello from a fellow Alaskan Jesus lover who uses a unlocked SM900V as my daily driver. Currently using Resurrection Remix 7.1.2_r8 because of its tweakability and being able to use 3Minit Battery Mod.
Praise God! Another update!
There is a new download in the OP! Just a sync with AOKP for security patches through June! There is also a new web browser that you can try!
Just an FYI, I have changed the download link to a folder containing the rom(s), its just a little easier, so after an upload I do not have to update the links, as the folder will not change, just the rom in it.
Enjoy and Happy Independence Day and weekend to my fellow Americans!

Awsome!! ive been waiting patiently to hear from you. Thank you so much
I forgot to mention that I also changed the boot animation to the old "lightning" AOKP boot animation.
If you want the new "pony-gear" animation, you can grab it here in the "Official AOKP" folder:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/o172vzm25q6n3/bootanimations
Or you can poke around the other animations and use any of those if you like them. Checkmate was one of my favorites, although I made these a while back for older phones, so they may be a little "fast" and/or "small" on your phone now.
Thanks for porting this to the Verizon version.
I have found one bug that I didn't see others mention. My Recent and Back buttons are not illuminated.
