none at all. I have kept my older phone as a music player (nexus s). I love the nexus 5. My only regret is I couldn't get the 32gb version. But I will make do!

Nope. My Legend deserved the rest and I'm loving the Nexus.

I think depending on how much you paid for it. Stateside is pretty good value.. Euro side not so much imo.

Nope, I came from a Moto Atrix... Living with a giant middle finger from Motorola. Used as many custom roms as I could to keep it relevant, but that thing to me was basically treated as DOA. The most expensive, ignored, bastard child of modern smartphones I've ever bought... I paid $1000 for it outright day 1 when I was working in S.Korea. Somewhat ahead of it's time, but treated like garbage.
Will not purchase another Moto phone... which is kind of odd considering I own the godsend from mother Google.
Now if Moto makes a Nexus, not quite sure what I'll do... I've blacklisted Motorola.

Could get a nice deal with Tele2 so went for it.
Cheap subscription, lots of minutes, and a nice phone.

My old phone was a Nexus S, and although that was immense, no i don't regret it.
Had my head turned by the HTC One and if the Moto X was available here that would get a look in, but would still probably go for the N5.

Come from galaxy s4 Did not regret a second of it I should have skipped the s4 and come from the nexus s straight

no regret

I regret not getting a Note 3, but then again I did purchase this device outright at less than 2/3 the price of a Note 3, and there are tremendous amounts of development already available considering how new this device is.
I think I lose and gain some. Battery life however would technically still be better on the Note 3, but I ain't really complaining here since I'm not really getting wakelocks. I do miss the big screen however and the more vibrant display I did gain superb call quality and call volume however

Well, I came from owning a Note 2 for about 8 months. I'd say wait for Note 4. No reason to jump phones so many times so soon. This phone is quite well for the price.

No regret at all. Love the N5. :good:

well im elegible for an upgrade now.. And was thinking about getting a phone sell it so i can pay my credit card bill from the nexus 5... But not sure if i should return the nexus and just buy a note 3/s4 which imo will have a better sell price when new phones come out...
I think the nexus will sell used for $200 where the samsungs will probably be around 300-350
Basically for me both of them are the same price...

This is easily the best phone I've ever owned and having stock Android that is not some skinned-and-never-updated crap is a godsend. I've always put ROMs on my other Android phones before but I really don't think I will on this one.

Not one regret at ALL. @ OP why even sign another contract? Wonder how underwater you are with your car loan
good day.

Nope, didn't want to buy a cell phone until next year but my Galaxy Nexus started having issues. Love the Nexus 5 so far!

Yes, I have some regrets. The battery life doesn't feel much better than my GNex and I wish the screen was bigger. Not saying I don't want to keep it, I'm just not sure. Maybe with the right kernel and apps it will be perfect. Or maybe I should've gotten a G2. I just don't know how the ROMs on that would turn out, and I like having wireless charging.

Nexus S or some other phone????

I was planning to buy nexus s nd i even got a deal for $359
But after the launch of samsung galaxy nexus, samsung has stopped all the warranty and after sales service for the nexus s
So which phone should I buy??
and my budget is of $360 Only
What carrier? That is alot to pay for an outdated phone. You can get a used phone that is much better for $360...

Don't get a nexus S, its a hardly upgraded vibrant that was a complete waste of money on release. I bought a used one for 180 and gave it to my 5 year old sister it was such a letdown.
If you really must have a developer phone when wait for the Galaxy Nexus. Otherwise, I recommend any of the Samsung branded phones. I love my Galaxy Captivate, my wife uses the new Galaxy Infuse and the Galaxy S II looks bad-ass IMO.

I don't completely disagree, although the Vibrant was priced similarly just anywhere I looked (at least in my part of Canada back when I bought mine).
Sometimes wish I got the Vibrant for the Gorilla glass, but I'm definitely loving the dev community the Nexus S has. That's what is really making me feel like I made a good decision.

Enough in my honest opinion, seeing how some lesser phones still get development for a few months after becoming "obsolete" in the sense of their technology getting slightly outdated.
Nevertheless, I think all Nexus models will get decent development, judging from the Nexus One and S.
It's a game nobody will win, technology is forever going further and the moment you buy something, there's something new right around the corner or already available on the market. You can always decide to play the waiting game if you're not in need for a change right now, just don't get stuck waiting forever...

A damn lot! Look at the Nexus One! If I'm not mistaken, Dr Kmobs from cyanogenmod is still using and developing for his. The nexus One was either the first or second device to get an ICS SDK port. Not everyone can afford the latest and greatest, any dev phone will get a fair amount of custom ROM love. If you can get a good deal on a nexus S, and you think its what you want, go for it. You aren't gonna be left behind any time soon. That said, if you want the very latest and greatest, get a galaxy nexus, its a huge upgrade.

Nothing like a huge cover to keep it from getting scratched!
Can't wait for the day our phones are near indestructible bricks lasting forever on a charge. It's sad to have such sexy technology getting covered with covers, enhanced with bulky batteries and needing to be constantly plugged in.
Likely the only reasons I miss the days I was using dumbphones, they were indestructible or of no real value, they would last a week on a charge and definitely did not cost as much.
I'l have to buy an unlocked phone(NEW)

Samsung captivate(bad)

my suggestion, watch Craigslist. My gs2 cost me 280 dollars like new.
I think xperia neo is also a good option.
I am getting it for the same price($359)
But I want to get the ICS update as fast as possible...
And acc. to you guyz wen will we get some used GALAXY NEXUS (NEXUS PRIME)
on ebay.com
I will strongly recommend you Samsung Galaxy S2 if your budget provides. Other than that, Nexus S is actually a pretty good phone (very good for this price). The next Google phone series is Galaxy Nexus which will be priced around 35k (INR). That may overkill your budget.
Better stick with Nexus S. It will also get the ICS update very soon, at least earlier than other non-stock android phones (Galaxy S2).
As for Xperia Neo V, it is a great phone too, if you can get it around for 15k (@ adexmart). You may want to try both of these phones at a retail store. Thumbs up to whichever suits you better.
To be honest, you may want to ask for such queries @ thinkdigit. They're aware of the Indian smartphone market better.
I love my NS. The development community is very active, and it'll get even more so when ICS is pushed to the NS!
Plus, with Voodoo and a very stable CyanogenMod build, it blows the doors off my old Vibrant. The stock-black with no carrier branding looks very sexy, too.

[Q]Buy this or wait for Galaxy Nexus

I currently have an Infuse 4G and after having a phone with 4.5" display I dont think I could ever have another phone with smaller display. I'm not in an LTE are but frequently travel to multiple LTE areas in Texas. I have my money saved up for the Galaxy Nexus Unlocked but I'm really almost tired of waiting. I've kinda been looking at these forums off and on waiting to see if this phone is gonna get any love cause I really like the "idea" of it. You guys think it will get its own forums and any dev work soon. Cause the Galaxy Nexus ship might just be sinking for me...
Tired of waiting on Google/Samsung's Failed Launch...
New phones are like my crack I just gotta have em.
I doubt AT&T will subsidize the galaxy nexus. What is likely to happen is google will sell it to you unsubsidized and AT&T will let you use it on their network. The nexus line has never been available on a carrier at launch until verizon.
Yeah I know that, I dont have an available upgrade right now anyway I had planned on purchasing the Nexus outright, and would do the same for the skyrocket if I decided to go that route i'm trying to get a feel for the phone is there gonna be any love from xda in the way of some forums and any devs coming this way is what I want to know.

i had the same dellima...... But if your going to pay FULL price for either phone.
Hit up BESTBUY i bought the Skyrocket full price on the (BUYBACK PROGRAM) if the Galaxy Nexus or Note drop within 6 months i can take it back and get 50% of what i paid for the phone back and apply that to the next phone. so ina sence your still only paying FULL price for 2 phones.....
a win win in my book becuase i will be getting either one of those when they drop.

Or you could upgrade to an iphone 4s and use it for a little while because they have a good resale value and won't be outdated in at least a year.
But consider these cons about the nexus:
No microsd
Old GPU/not cutting-edge CPU
Thick
Only 5MP
Will be even more outdated by the time it comes out

I was in the exact same boat and ultimately pulled the trigger on the Skyrocket. My rationale at the end was that the only tangible improvements out there for this phone would be screen resolution and form factor. Other than that, its pretty future proof and should hold value well if I want to resale.
Absolutely love it so far.

I'm really tempted to go ahead and get this. I really like having an sd card slot on my phones and the lack of gorilla glass on the nexus is kinda scary also. Not to mention that it steps down to a 5mp camera. However the development for the nexus is going to be nice and the vanilla andriod. I'd pull my hair out if I had any....
There will be some development for this and a lot for the Nexus. Nexus accessories started popping up at Verizon Stores so that may be a sign of things to come as far as the unlocked version as well.
Sorry, what I meant to say earlier is that when the nexus comes out unsubsidized a good option would be to buy an iphone 4s subsidized and sell it on ebay to get the nexus for a subsidized price. The vanilla ICS and developer compatibility of a nexus trumps all its cons IMO, but I couldn't wait any longer.
I am very glad to hear that many many others are in the same boat as myself. I have done my research, and on pg 138 of the usermanual for the skyrocket it says that the phone does have NFC, but it will be activated at a later time... maybe for ICS and Android Beam?
I am coming from a Nexus S, on ATT when it was free at Best Buy about 3 months ago... and I am lucky enough to have a wonderful girlfriend that will give me her upgrade and let her have my Nexus S.
I think I am going to take the plung with some of you today and buy a Skyrocket, though I am near DC... I'm not sure if I'll get good LTE.
Good tidings!

There are several reasons not to go with the galaxy nexus. It doesn't have the true Super AMOLED screen that the gs2 has, so the screen will be duller. The screen doesn't have gorilla glass, so it will be more likely to break or shatter. The larger screen may be nice if you like it, but it means lower resolution. Plus, the real advantage of it, ICS, is close to irrelevant if you have cyanogenmod on your phone.

This is TRUE......the screen will be amazing.
that coupled with ICS i can see ALOT of people jumping on this when it drops......or the NOTE
and the screen is CURVED! That's in it self is a selling point!
I have another upgrade...but I figure I get a S2 now and use that upgrade for the Prime... IF it comes to AT&T... if it does it probably will be a while after the initial release
The ONLY thing that is putting me off is the lack of the external SD card. I had an i4 and I REALLY hated the fact that when I want to get something from my phone I have to connect it and pull it off.
Otherwise to me.. the Nexus Prime is the one to have.

Selling my Nexus 4 for a Galaxy SIII - Opinions asked

Hello XDA,
I have been owning the Nexus 4 for about 6 months now and before I went with this phone I had a hard time deciding between the Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Ultimately I went with the Nexus 4 because I knew a lot of people already had the SIII.
Sadly now after 6 months I'm starting to doubt this decision as I kind off miss having the look and feel of the SIII. Don't get me wrong I like Touchwiz but also like Stock Android but sometime I'm just leaning towards the feel of the SIII.
The SIII is about 310 euro's right here in the Netherlands, so please don't advice me to get a S4 which I don't want.
The Nexus 4 sells for about 250 euro's second handed so If I need to add another 60 I wouldn't mind.
So I'm kind of asking for some opinions and if someone can clear some things out. Yes I know 4.4 is coming for my phone in like a week and yes most of you might wonder why I should talk about this but hey

The Nexus 5 is selling for 400+ here in NL
Bonus of the S3 would be SD card slot which I would drool for on s nexus device.
But by all means if you want touchwiz that's awesome, but I don't find myself using them too often after about the second week.
If anything you could flash an AOSP rom onto the S3 and have no need for the nexus, switching between interfaces as you see fit. And if you're into flashing stuff you'll have to wait a bit longer for new content as I'm sure you already know.

So for roughly 90 more you get a brand new phone (N5) with technology that will last you longer which will reduce your need to upgrade again sooner. Although you're spending some additional money now, you'll save money in the long run when you consider resale value of your new phone.

Would buying a Nexus 5 be justified?

I have a HTC One already, but for some unexplainable reason I have this insane urge to buy the Nexus 5.
Have the money required to go out and.buy it but common sense is stopping me.
It's not for showing off reasons, on the contrary, people would criticize me for having 2 phones (even though I do love phones.)
My dad has the Nexus 5 and so I had the chance to play around with it a lot and I have to say, it's a great device.
Is having 2 phones just unnecessary or is it okay?
Also I don't have enough reasons to buy other than I do a fair amount of media consumption and I like to have a backup phone.

You can have your One and N5 and switch them out depending on your mood when going out. Have the One for work and the N5 for going out or something

Honestly, having had both phones, it isn't much of an upgrade in my opinion. Plus, the HTC One is Sexy and doesn't look like cheap plastic build.
yeah, stick with HTC.
no point getting another similar phone.
What floats your boat
If one phone is for personal use and the other for business is definitely ok. If both are for personal use then it could be too much.
I was on the exact situation as you and I having actually gone through with the purchase, I say stick with the htc.
It's definitely a side grade.

Why not get a N7 ? Cheaper than a N5, better battery life and as far as media consumption goes it's better tailored.
I can understand.... I have a Note 3 at the moment.. And ordered a Nexus 5 too with the intention of keeping both phones. Damn the urge.
I have an extra line just so I can keep my Nexus One as a second phone. I certainly don't need it, but I really like grabbing it on my way out instead of my N5 from time to time.

[Q] Buying the Nexus 5 today

Im in the hunt for a new phone. Ive been thinking about buying the new Z3 Compact when its launched but I cannot stand the modified android version the different manufacturers are using, I HAVE to run vanilla or close to it. I know I could root any phone and install stock android on it but im not sure if its worth the hassle for me considering it takes time to make a stable rom etc.
The perfect phone would be a smaller Nexus 5 in my mind, good usability in one hand and fast updates. I guess it wont exist in the near future tho?
Is it a smart decision to buy the Nexus 5 today?
Get one. If you don't like it you can return it. Only you can decide if you like the N5

I just received mine in the mail today, I love it. It feels so sturdy and solid, I will be keeping it for a long time.
I forgot to mention, I have used the N5 for a couple of weeks and I really like it. Do you think I just should go for it?
absolutely ! go and buy one !
Get it and start having a great time with the Nexus5 on XDA!
I have owned every nexus made and the nexus 5 is an amazing device. I highly recommend it
I know the N5 is an awesome device, I'm just worried about the Android silver program being released and all of a sudden there are plenty of "nexuses" around to chose from. Do you guise think it will be announced any time soon?

Hard to say... but don't hold your breath!
I don't see how any android silver device could touch the $350 price tag. Your only competition would be the moto x in this price point.

Asking in the Nexus 5 forum whether or not to buy the Nexus 5? Great!
Anyways, just like the others, I will suggest you to get it but the Nexus 6's rumors have started again and this time around it's been manufactured by Motorola!
Alright, I'm getting the nexus. You guise convinced me. Now I just have to decide on colour! What do you guise think about the different colours?

Different colours for different schmullers. Pick whats best for you. This also goes for custom roms. Dont ask us when you get it what rom you should use. Please just make up your own mind.
You have had help deciding whether or not to get the nexus 5 I think it is best you decide which color you like when you get to the store or if your purchasing online then look at the colors there. The color part isn't much of a big deal and mainly comes down to personal preference. So I think it would be best for you to decide on your own
