I think fully rooted device and CWM, you can try at your own risk, if you do, report back.

I tried with flag Gordon and it just say there saying extracting but that was all so I am going to hold on to it and keep updating the download so that when we can flash it I will be ready fantastic job by the way thanks for your work

If it includes systemui.apk or framework.apk FlashGordan will bootloop since you can't mod those apks while running. Everything but framework can be manually pushed though. SystemUI.apk will cause the phone to go ape **** for a while and won't let you open you're root folder app. I can explain how to make it work If you want, it's kind of a pain in the ass though.

Naturally yes, you cannot use that then. You have to be rooted and have custom recovery console, is this because of the knox and warranty?

The bootloader is locked so there's no recovery and probably never will be.
I don't know much about the theming. Does this replace the apks and stuff or merge your new icons and colors?

Yes, it modifies apk's in the system, but safely. if you want my theme to work, you need to be rooted with cwm recovery console.

Yeah to much copying and pasting for me lol. I'm able to move apks but don’t wanna modify them. Nice work though!

Whatever you guys do, dont delete original apk's to replace this with. My framework-res and systemUI only have themed image files, so yes your phone wont work without original apk's, you need to add these apk's inside the original. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING!

Hey great job. Just a start to what I want.
you going to do the same with the contacts part? Or would it be cool if I used your work to do it myself?
Thanks!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I am going to do the contacts and mms. The same. But feel free to do what u want with it.
Not much themed apps in our theme section. So the more the better
This is great but is there a tutorial somewhere for new users like me on how to do this and theme parts of the phone UI? Thanks.
no. You have to know how to decompile and recompile ics apps. And have the proper tool setup to do it. And notepad++ to edit xmls. And photoshop or gimp to edit and create images. And smali/baksmali
To much to get into.
So youll need to research all of those things and beable to do them. Then u can research how to do specific things to specific apps.
Sorry I wish it was something I could just say do this. But there is a lot more to it then that.
Good luck and the search button can be your best friend.
this only for ICS?

Themed calc and clock

Hey guys, I've just been learning how to theme so I wanted to share a couple apps (mainly for testing purposes). I am on cleanRom 2.5 which is odexed and I didn't deodex these before theming them, I just took the apks and changed the pngs, then I just replaced the apks in /system/app and changed permissions and rebooted. They work fine for me but I would appreciate if someone else could try them too

The past three days I've been googling, trying to find tutorials, trying to ask people but I could only get bits and pieces here and there so I don't know how to do a whole lot yet, just some of the easy stuff. It really isn't too bad once you start. I'll see if I can make a little video tutorial on at least what I know how to do and it should be a good start for you.

The only thing I am interested in theming is the "DigitalClock.apk", and I cannot for the life of me get it installed afterwards.
I have followed your tutorial and I have tried taking the finished, unsigned system apk back into the /system/app folder with the odex file and it still will not work.
I am running stock/rooted/vralhd odexed.
Could you please help me?

OP should make a flashable installer for the noobs on here, here's a blank zip. Just drop in the apk named properly (same as the system one) and it will overwrite it.

[Guide] How to install Google L keyboard on your rooted device

Thanks to @bejunk
As seen here you can get the files to add the Google L stock keyboard onto your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796129
you have to manual install.
1. extract all files.
2. move the ''LatinImeGoogle.apk'' to /system/app; long press on APK, choose change permissions, now make the ticks like in attached picture.
3. move the ''libjni_latinimegoogle.so'' to /system/lib; like above, long press, & change permissions.
4. reboot system, then go to settings & activate keyboard

This worked great. I love the look and it seems google finally figured out how to give more word choices. Does anyone know if there's a way to enable the long-press secondary keys? Its the one thing that slows down my typing.
Or simply use the .apk for non-rooted devices. That's been working great on my rooted device.
Uninstalled Google Keyboard first.
Flashed in Safestrap recovery.
Worked.

Thanks :good:
What about rooted but no recovery?
My S5 is rooted but doesn't have a custom recovery because I don't plan on doing any heavy modding, like flashing ROMs or anything. The 'no-root' apk didn't work, but I can't flash a zip... What do I do?
Did you get some kind of error message when you tried to install the .apk?
