I can no longer view networked PCs using ESFile Explorer??? - General Questions and Answers

Can someone help me out? I've been using this setup for years on several machines w/o a single problem. Now, all of a sudden, I try to view a networked PC to move some files over (like I've done thousands of times) and it says that the server can't be reached. It gives me some bogus ideas like firewal is on, IP address is out of range, SMB is off, yadda yadda yadda but none of these are true so far as I can tell. I tried deleting the server and scanning via the 'search' again and them same PC shows up. When I click it it gives the same error. So I attempt to manually edit the login credentials or manually create a new server and after I enter all the credentials it just sits on 'Adding Server, Please wait a minute...' Indefinitely. I tried rebooting the PC (Wind7 64-bit) as well as my device (unrooted SGS4 v4.3) and I'm not able to solve this issue. The only changes I can think of is the recent update to v4.3 but I also updated to v4.2.2 previously and had no issues. I've also done this for years on several devices and countless firmware versions & ROMs. I know some have been having issues with the addition of KNOX to 4.3 but I haven't even installed that nor do I plan on doing it. I checked by opening KNOX from the app tray to verify and it indeed still wants me to INSTALL. I am also getting weird warning pop-ups since 4.3 about something or another trying to access part of my phone that it's not authorized to which sounds like a KNOX/WiFi bug from what I'm hearing. This seems strange to me that I would be getting this warning when I haven't even installed it yet. Could this networking issues also be related and how can I correct this? This is SUPER annoying!

Tip/Solution: One click flashers and "device not found" errors

Putting this in the development thread as I read a lot on these forums about people trying to get one click roots/flashers to work and kept getting a lot of device not found errors, or partially working attempts that ended up failing even though they had the right drivers installed etc.
I never had a problem with this until yesterday and figured out what is going on.
Back story: I normally flashed at home on my main PC and never was an issue but yesterday I got my replacement Epic while at work and had to use my laptop to root, flash clockwork etc. About an hour of errors, unplugging and plugging and devices not found I finally got two to take. It still bugged me what was causing this.
Solution: Check your antivirus suite. I personally use Avast. What was happening was Avast On-Access protection was blocking data transfer between my Epic and PC. The device would install fine, appear to be seen by windows but countless attempts to flash, or using the android SDK would result in a blocked transfer within 20 seconds of plugging in the USB making it appear to be dead and "offline" (in the android SDK). It was "there" but data was being blocked.
If you're an avast user and always have these issues try this.
Plug in your Epic.. Right click the blue Avast circle in the Task Tray and click program settings. Next click "exclusions" and then click "browse". Check the empty box for the drive that your Epic appeared as. Mine was "E:". Then click OK out of avast to save it.
Now try flashing, or using the Android SDK. It should work flawlessly now without any out of no where device no found, offline errors.
Other AV users: Disable the entire thing during one click flashers

[Q] Philips GoGear Connect3 Wifi won't connect

I picked up a new GoGear last Saturday.
This is my first Android based device, and I do not have a cell phone. Thus in that sense I am a noob.
I was initially able to connect to my home network; however, after figuring out how to root the device and adding a sound file to the the media/alarms folder I was not longer able to use songbird. I fixed that, and now I am no longer able to connect to my home wifi. I have tried a reset, a complete wipe (using the built in privacy erase function etc.) and also tried using the repair function on Songbird - it was fail during the install of the firmware.
I have eliminated issues with home wifi security by setting the network to broadcast, and removed security functionality. Despite that the network search finds the network, displays a message that it is obtaining an IP address, and then after a few minutes it stops, and reports disconnected. The process restarts, and then eventually the message of disabled comes up.
This morning, I tried using the idea of installing a new ROM hoping that would solve the issue: (From this thread).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396085
Still the same issue, everything seems to work, except for the wifi not connecting.
Any help, ideas, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Update
Problem Solved,
Not quite sure how, but here is what I did.
1) I re-rooted the GoGear again
2) I removed the sound files that I put in the alarm folder.
3) I downloaded FXR Wifi Fix and rescue apk to the sd card:
I cannot post the link but it is from appbrain.
4) I installed this app, and ran it.
5) Reboot
6) It worked- alas, I do not know what the cause was.
If this helps anyone else, great.
Thank you to all who viewed my first post!

[Q]PLEASE HELP ME(Cpu, android, apple) reward is possible. TRIED VERYTHING.. :(

Hello, I am seeking advice/help...
I can see by looking and reading some of your writings and posts that yours and others time is worth alot... I am not sure on how much I could spend as I have already lost funds and had my bank accounts hacked. However I will gladly see what I can do if someone can hopfully help me...
I have been without proper internet for well over a month now.. I have changed my wireless routers out twice even added in a AP(hardware firewall)... My internet provider also suppliea optik TV and that is all ran through the same router.
At first I noticed some new programs would appear, things would be moved around some things would go missing... it was very unnoticeable unless you were paying attention.
Then the windows start up acreen would freeze for 5 minutes sometimes almost as if somethinf had froze the screen so that I wouldn't be able to see whats happening(Basically started getting worse - passwords being changed on me etc... - would lose my elevated privledges almost as if I was just a guest account)...
I even tried using CMD in dos to get my permission settings back and at first this would work but then the dos/cmd commands(whoami / ICACLS / and a few other commands would not work and say they don't exist... I also started to notice the size of my harddrive change.. I was never able to get it back to the right amount of GB. I tried to restore it many different methods as well (win7, linux, dos) nothing worked.. I then also noticed the MBR would constantly become corrupt and same with the hard drive.
So I looked into things and figured it must be the bios or cmos.. I tried to flash it and just decided I would start from scratch... However, everytime the computer restarts the old cmos/bios is back. I then also found things saved on (A: , B: and X) ... They were all write protected so I decided to pull the hard drive out. They still showed up even if I had the hard drive removed.
** X: is the boot drive as well so every time I tried to reinstall anything a bunch of extra files would get installed as well**
**Drive B had a volume named RamDrive..**
I ran some system/ tests in dos on the memory and kept getting errors but would not tell me what the problem was I finally figured out that it was a system error because the range went higher(above the 4gb that it's supposed to be)..
Now 4 laptops ruined... I just got a new laptop (win8.1) was never used and had never been turned on and after the initial startup/setup had extra software etc and now is stuck in infiniti boot loop....
Also similar stuff has happend or is happening with fax/printer, pvr, tv, ipad, iPhone, Android, wii, ps3, ps4.. dvd player, basically all media devices and anything wireless..
I have seen lots of evidence on remote connections through IOT, P2P/PHP, IPv4, IPv6, ssl, http(local group/work group) now it seems like things are communicating through a technique called air hopping or coupling. (RF, NFC, WIFI, IR, GPS/GSM, RFID, Altel Bluetooth and a few others). **I can remove the wireless card and laptops still connect**
They even got into a desktop computer that has no wirelsss or bluetooth card... and never gets plugged into the internet. Odd internet type numbers started calling my house phone also my house phone if I unplugged it etc... then powered it back up and didn't set date or time it would reset itself... The play stations would turn on and off them self... I tried reformattibg and missing a huge amount of GB.
Also, money was taken out of bank account as well.... anyone who goes to where this all is happening there cell phones get infected tooo... it seems to update tbe phones in fhe form of a push update aka broadcast signal.. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated...
another thing i noticed was files like index.dat/index.ini... desktop.ini. doubles of everything in my registry... and the fonts i couldnt change or delete... i noticed files from other devices listed on my phones and vice versa for things listed on the computer... if this isnt the right place for this i apolohgize...
also it appears as if my phone is rooted.. judging by the files and folders that are on my phone but it says not rooted. there is apps installed that i didnt put there and cant remove without being rooted.. my phones are constantly connected. factory reset doesnt work anymore... Neither does wipe cache. also constantly streaming data even if data is off and airplane mode. i keep seeng something about a 299-amtel.. redirect in any and all browsers...lots of adware as well.
im not even sure i will be able to ge back on here... if not you can try emailing me [email protected]... i appreciate any and all help.. thank you and sorry for the grammer juat trying to type this as fast as possible.
Your MEANINGLESS title is discouraging people from helping you.
Please at least use a simple sentence to summarize your problem in your title.
Anyway from what you're saying, you should report to the police, or if you have some friend with network and PC knowledge, ask him for help.

IoT Cloud Software/Hardware MDM assistance

Hi There,
I want to start off by saying I hope I am not crazy and I apologize from the get go if I misrepresent my issue in error.
I believe someone has flashed MDM software to my android device. I would like to know if I am either going crazy over nothing or would like some assistance in diagnosing what the possible issue could be. I believe it to be something similar to Murata Ayla Cloud software kit. This person would have had access to all of my Cell phones, Raspberry Pi's and Computers.
I started to suspect something when applications would become installed on my device(ones I did not install obviously). I Started to notice XML /*.SH files appearing, Samsung Knox (which I have been on a custom rom such as AICP, DU, literally the day I get any new device so I have never had Knox or any Samsung apps). My device also started to download apps for another mobile carrier and in my CSC information now shows the incorrect carrier code. My root seems to always stop working (literally just locks up when I open it, even if I remove and reinstall it works briefly) and my Wi-Fi mac address suddenly became 00:02:00:00. So I decided to flash back to stock firmware and try a different rom. Long story short, I compared the Rom files and original backup to the files on my device several days later after minimal use. I noticed a lot of .sh files loaded in the root DIR as well as container agents, MDM agent running, MDM enrollment app.
I then noticed odd things on my PC's, like windows firewall always allowing Xbox service, media server, Miricast and a bunch of other things. I can see UPNP is enabled on the routers and is what is configuring my win RM. So I did some wiresharking and found a Fortinet server with a Murata mac oui on layer 3. I also ran some logs to see devices plugged in to my USB ports and found several samsung CSC/Modem drivers + a log that implied something about serial port /EMMC programming. I also found several apps that I have never used or even heard of. (QLAtool, ReadnWrite tool, GN Qcom download tool). I also checked several of my other phones and it appears that they all have the same serial number and device name. I have never flashed my devices with the incorrect backups. The home network is not mine but I asked the other people wthin the house but they state they do not know anything........
No matter what I do (flash/factory reset etc), the XML files/sh files slowly download after I leave my device connected to the internet. Several of them reference open sim alliance/virtual usb-BT proxies/media server and virtual devices. There are so many MDM apps/embedded controllers/KVM's/Hypervisor/HCE - Knox dev kits I can't determine which it is.
I would desperately like to have my privacy back or know that I am not crazy. Is there anyone who could help me identify what is happening or how to better investigate.
Thank you very much,

[SOLVED] Can't Connect To Shares On My PC

For the last several months, I can download and upload to my shared folders on my Windows 10 Pro PC, with no problems at all using FX Explorer, via SMB2. Never a glitz or slowdown, no problems whatso ever, no matter what ROM I happened to be running at the time.
The problem I am now having started yesterday, when I installed the new Windows 10 Pro x64 Fall Creators Update on my PC. I did a clean install, and set up the system from scratch. I did all my Network settings for sharing, just like before, and I set the Share permissions on 2 folders that I use for my OPO, just like before. Made sure that SMB2 protocol is enabled on the PC also.
I created a new LAN connection in FX Explorer to the new Windows OS, and tried to connect. Well, it sort of does connect, but mostly does not. When I try to access the shared folder on my PC, I can see the 2 folders in the Explorer list-view on my phone, but when I try to enter either one of the folders, all I get is a spinning circle for about a minute, and then get a report in big red letters that there was a "Network Error".
Well, that's a first on the OPO, for sure! To double check that I had set up the new Windows OS correctly, I connected to the shared folders using a laptop via WiFi, and it connects and reads the contents perfectly fine. I then gave it a go with a second PC in the house, and that PC also was able to read/write great to the shared folders.
OK.... so, the folders on the main PC are in fact, being shared, and other PCs can access them, but my OPO cannot, no matter what I try. Like I said, it sees the shared folders, but when I try to enter either one of them, it just craps out. I've tried 3 different file managers, all with the same results. I've tried anonymous connect, and password connect, both with the same result.
I even disabled the firewall on my PC to see if that was the problem (which I did not do for the 2 PCs that did connect) , and tried again with my OPO, but no joy, once again..
I am totally baffled. I have spent probably the better part of 6 hours on the net searching for solutions and answers, including this forum, but again, no joy, and then trying all things I could think of to do. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this issue all the sudden? Any ideas at all as to why this is happening? You have no idea how much I would appreciate a solution to this problem. I even went so far as to restore a complete backup image I had made just before upgrading the PC, and with the old image installed on the PC, my OPO would once again connect to the shares perfect. So, not a hardware issue with my OPO either..
Thanks for reading this long post!!
